The Cave is a great adventure with a narrator who knows the fine arts of black humor. If you like that and some nice adventure puzzles The Cave is the right game for you.

I can forgive the little issues, though, because of what all is done obviously right: engaging NPCs who both help and hinder the tasks of each puzzle, the stylized world, the voice-overs of both the NPCs and the Cave itself, and the $15 price point. The voice-overs and plays on words, especially in the Time-Traveler’s section, had me laughing out loud, and the voices themselves are surprisingly fitting. A single playthrough might not be very long, but be prepared to keep playing… you’re gonna. And you’ll enjoy it!

The Cave is a unique title, difficult to categorize. All who’s looking for something different and original do not let themselves miss the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of least Double Fine game.

Upon entering The Cave, we will face some original and very difficult puzzles. Although they can become repetitive, some of the most complicated challenges that are present in this place will require us to use the cunning of all seven characters available. We will get through a number of characteristic levels, realizing how they are plot-connected with each of our singular adventurers.

Living up to its developer’s name, this puzzler is double fine value at £9.99. Just be warned that its own see-saw of fun counterbalances every five belly laughs with a mildly exasperating headache.

To its credit, The Cave has amusing writing and a neat visual style – but charm alone cannot make up for its many technical flaws.

The main reason for this is because the narrator is just so funny. About the gameplay, well, if you enjoy puzzle platformers you gonna love it. Also, the game remind me a lot of Maniac Mansion, which old school gamers like myself enjoyed a lot. I have not much to say, just go and play it.… Expand

It’s partThe Cave is a great game and everyone that had a chance to play classic adventure games back in th 80s will immediately get it. It’s part platforming, part puzzle solving, filled with dark (sometimes witty) humor. There are 7 characters, each with an unique perk and exclusive level. But I confess I was expecting (much) more. With such pedigree (I mean, this these guys are part of gaming royalty), I expected the Cave to deliver much more. By the end, I did not feel that much compelled to give another playthrough and, honestly, felt kind of disapointed with how the events are concluded. It felt lose, like something was missing. They should patch it, I don’t know, give a free DLC or something. The Cave is not a complete game in my honest opinion. It’s almost there… but not THERE yet.… Expand

Interesante juego de puzzles, con una historia narrativa como si estuvieras en un cuento interactivo. Buena apuesta y entretenido.

The great thing about this game is its dark humor mixed with the cuteness of the cartoony atmosphere. The narrator is my favorite part of the game. The thing that messes up the flow of the game is the constant frustration and backtracking of the puzzles. Its a game best played in short bursts. I also had to restart the game twice because of glitches. Its really a disappointment that the game doesn’t play as well as it could have. Instead of a fun escape, it becomes a grueling frustrating experience that makes you want to smash your controller against the floor… Expand

Delisting
The Cave was delisted on the PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 in late March or early April of 2018. The last confirmed availability of the console titles we have found was on March 9th, 2018 for Xbox 360 and March 17th for Wii U. It is possible the console versions were delisted shortly after the 17th in late March. On April 2nd, 2018 the Steam version changed publishers from Sega to Double Fine Productions and remains available only on that platform. The console versions may have been delisted on April 2nd as well or shortly before. It appears Sega did not choose to renew the console versions of the game and Double Fine has yet to confirm if they will pick up the publishing duties.
In 2017, Double Fine issued a blog post about the status of their mobile titles with the impending release of iOS 11 requiring apps to be updated to 64-bit. In it they mention that “The Cave’s future is uncertain, and is in SEGA’s hands, but it will not be updated”. The game appears to be unavailable from the iTunes store but remains available on Android, published by Double Fine, as of this writing The OUYA version became unavailable in 2015 when Razer acquired Ouya Inc. and shut down the app store for that platform.

The Cave (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U) — Bedazzled
An unusual Cave is located in the impassable forest thicket. Rumor has it that the most cherished desires come true here, which again and again leads adventurers to her.
An unusual Cave is located in an impenetrable forest thicket. Rumor has it that the most cherished desires come true here, which again and again leads adventurers to her. The next portion of heroes has seven, let’s say, characters. All of them at the first meeting give the impression of mediocrity — whether it’s a knight in shining armor, a couple of gothic children, a time traveler, a tomb raider, a Tibetan monk, a learned lady or a villager in a straw hat.
It is worth getting to know the characters better, and the attitude towards them changes dramatically. The stories of the heroes turn into cruel, goosebumps tales of cynicism, unbridled lust for power and all-consuming envy. Here the legend of saving the princess from the dragon does not develop at all according to the canons of the genre. Attempts to rewrite history for personal gain lead to sad consequences. The Cave demonstrates that unhappy love and the desire for freedom are accompanied by death and bloodshed.
Gameplay trailer
A little philosophical, a little instructive narration is masterfully flavored with irony. The cave can talk and does a great job as a storyteller. Other inhabitants of the dungeon, although they rarely appear on the screen, manage to be remembered for their funny antics. The biographies of the heroes, their past deeds appear in the form of colorful drawings, more suitable for a good fairy tale. Such a deliberate discrepancy between form and content, diluted with Ron Gilbert’s trademark black humor, creates a gloomy atmosphere and at the same time gives a lot of reasons for laughter. By the way, in order to find out all the ins and outs of the heroes, you need to find special pictograms located in the secluded corners of the Cave.
Before descending into uncharted depths, you need to recruit a squad of three heroes. The cave is more like some kind of alternative reality, where scenes from the lives of heroes come to life. Depending on the composition of the team, the locations available for visiting also change. The castle gates open if there is a knight in the company. Entrance to the catacombs is allowed only to the squad, which includes the tomb raider. In the high-mountainous monastery they are allowed only accompanied by their pupils.
Unique abilities help the heroes to get into the specially designated areas of the Cave. Someone can swim underwater as well as professional divers. Another character becomes invulnerable, a third hacks terminals, a fourth has telekinesis magic. Advanced technology allows a pretty girl from the future to teleport. But to get to the exit, it is not enough just to use the skills of the characters. Skills are needed primarily to solve riddles.
The developers have offered an impressive set of various puzzles. We compare the facts to find a combination to the combination lock, carefully study the drawings on the walls and find unexpected clues there, try to deceive the dragon and get rid of the huge monster. There are also obstacles that require teamwork: activate three switches at the same time, synchronize space-time changes, distract the guard’s attention.
Of course, riddles constantly force us to look for non-standard uses for ordinary things. A talking parrot, a car wheel and a voice recorder have never been so useful on the farm. In certain episodes, you need to combine items. Unfortunately, in this aspect, the authors are too clever. The fact is that the levels in the game are of impressive size. The architecture of the Cave is not very intricate, but remembering all the moves the first time is not always possible. At the same time, the authors did not exchange for a mini-map. In addition, The Cave does not provide an inventory. A hero can only carry one item.
As a result, the adventure with enviable constancy rolls into a long running around the corridors, endless jumps on the platforms and crawling up the stairs. In the head you have to keep information about the location of all important objects. An attempt to test the idea turns into a bunch of unnecessary movements. Until the hero gets to the right item, takes it, runs to the specified point… If the method turned out to be wrong or you made a mistake with the choice of the hero, then get ready for another run. This is frankly annoying.
The developers have added a cooperative passage for three. However, this opportunity helps only if there is a well-coordinated team. Otherwise, the adventure turns into a farce, and the chances of passing the test are noticeably reduced. In addition, there are segments in The Cave in which one hero performs almost all operations, and the other two mark time in one place.
Simple arithmetic calculations show that in order to get to know all the characters, the game will have to be completed three times. Moreover, the desire to look into the dark soul of the seventh character promises a repetition of two stories. Among other things, certain levels are required to visit, regardless of who descends into the dungeon. Thus, a number of riddles are repeated, and more than once. Some puzzles can be solved in several ways, but this does not save you from the tedious repetition of memorized actions.
Diagnosis
On the one hand, Ron Gilbert did not disappoint his fans. Riddles range from simple attention tests to multi-step puzzles with non-obvious solutions. An unusual combination of bright colors, funny comments and dark stories does not let you get bored in the process of getting to know new characters. Alas, the developers for some reason artificially stretched the adventure. “A bad joke is a joke repeated twice” — this principle, in the case of The Cave, extends to riddles. And the constant running from place to place does not add pleasure.
Pro:
- Seven different heroes, each with their own story and unique ability
- The combination of good-natured style with the dark past of the characters
- Incredible variety of puzzles
Contra:
- A number of riddles have to be completed several times
- Enough tiring running from place to place in the process of solving puzzles

They breed non-stop! Best Vampire Survivors Clones
The success of Vampire Survivors became so overwhelming that it shocked the developer himself. Tens of thousands of people have left laudatory reviews on Steam. People liked to turn their hero into the personification of death and mow down opponents by the thousands in one session. With such success, it was only a matter of time before the game had clones. Some of them even achieved success — we will talk about them in this article.

Left 4 Dead popularized the concept of a four-player game. The developers from Fatshark took it and focused on close combat. The result is Vermintide, a game where you slaughter hordes of giant rats in a Warhammer fantasy world. Darktide takes place in the dark world of Warhammer 40k. Did the game stand out, or did it become Vermintide in space? Now we’ll tell you.

Pocket Tarkov. Lost Light Review
Lost Light has gained fame as a mobile Escape from Tarkov, but this is not entirely true. NetEase, of course, peeped a lot from the hit from Battlestate Games, but the Chinese developers put a completely different hit — PUBG Mobile from Tencent — at the heart of the gameplay. The resulting remix of two well-known projects claims to be the best mobile shooter.

Players believe that the new project of «dad» Dead Space, Glenn Scofield, revives the genre of AAA-horror, forcing even the most seasoned players to hide in a corner and whimper in fear. In part they are right. Partly.
