Skyrim potage le magnifique: Skyrim:To kill an empire — The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP)

Onion Chopping Ninja Chef

This request from @midasesquivel has given me the run around for far too long. I spent a while trying to find the right flavor mixture, starting to add more and more unnecessary ingredients. But one night I sat down and looked at everything again my epiphany came down to this: nothing beats roasted garlic (the only addition I decided worth keeping) and caramelized onions for feel-good flavors in a soup. And I’m glad I took my own advice because I can finally present Skyrim’s Potage Le Magnifique!

~Ingredients~

  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 small White Onion
  • 1 bulb of Garlic
  • 2 cups diced Carrots
  • 4 tbsp. Butter, separated in half
  • 2 tbsp. Flour or Cornstarch
  • Spices to taste: Black Pepper, Herbs de Provence or a mixture of rosemary, thyme, sage, and parsley.
  • Olive Oil, as needed

Prep Time: Up to 1 hr. | Total Cook Time: 30 — 40 min.

Serves: ~4 cups of soup

~Instructions~

Preparing the Roast Garlic

Step 1.) Preheat your oven to 400°F. Take the bulb of garlic and remove the outermost layers of the bulb (A few layers will come off easily in your hands. The result should be a bulb with fewer outer layers, but that is still in one piece)

Step 2.) Cut the top 1-2 inches of the bulb so that the sliced tops of the garlic cloves are showing.

Step 3.) Place aluminum on a baking sheet an put the garlic bulb in the center. Drizzle the bulb with a spoonful of olive oil and then seal the foil around the bulb. Bake for 40 minutes, then open the foil and allow to bake for 10 min. increments until the cloves are fork tender and their color is browned to your liking. Set aside to cool for at least 10 min. before handling.

Step 4.) When you go to remove the garlic, they are soft and should easily come out. You can either pull the cloves off and peel the casings open, or squeeze the cloves out of the bulb like a tube of toothpaste. Set aside.

Preparing the Soup

Step 1.) Take the onion and cut it into long, thin pieces. Melt 2 tbsp. of butter in the soup pot and add in the onions. Allow to cook over a medium heat for 10-15 min. or until the onions are soft and browned.

Step 2.) Once the onions are almost fully caramelized, add in the roast garlic and the spices and stir the mixture together.

Step 3.) Lower the heat and push the mixture to one side of the pot. Place the other 2 tbsp. of butter into the pot and allow it to melt. Add in the flour.cornstarch. Whisk the butter and flour together while slowly raising the heat back up to medium until you get a fully mixed roux.

Step 4.) Once you have the roux mixed, add in the chopped carrots and mix everything that is in the pot together. Slowly begin stirring in the chicken and beef broth. Allow everything to come to a bowl and then simmer until the carrots are soft. Taste the soup and adjust the spices as necessary.

Step 5.) As the soup has been simmering and then begins to cool, it will continue to thicken. If it does not seem thick enough for your potage, you can add another tbsp. of flour/cornstarch. At this point, you can serve the soup with the carrots still in cubes, or you can take a blender to the soup to make it completely smooth. Serve with bread of your choice! Enjoy!

~Results~

The roast garlic and caramelized onions bring a powerful base flavor to this soup, and I’ve begun to use it as a base for a lot of my soups, not just the potage! I recommend for any garlic lover, and those who aren’t feeling good and need a hot soup as a pick-me-up!

Background

You’ll receive this quest from Festus Krex in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary at the conclusion of the quest

Recipe for Disaster.

Walkthrough

Festus will direct you to Astrid, who will tell you that it’s finally time to kill the Emperor. All you’ll need to do is travel to Castle Dour in Solitude, pose as the Gourmet, and then poison the Emperor. To help you out, Astrid will give you deadly

Jarrin Root — «one taste will lead to nearly instant death» — and she’ll inform you that she’s arranged for your escape using the upper bridge from the castle.

In Solitude, you’ll need to talk to Commander Maro outside the Emperor’s Tower (Exit A). When you show him the

Gourmet’s Writ of Passage, he’ll allow you to enter. Inside the tower, if you take the hallway on your left (on the eastern side), then you’ll arrive at the kitchen, where you’ll find Gianna stirring a pot (#3).

When you talk to Gianna, she’ll be excited to see you, but she’ll insist that you put on a

Chef’s Hat before proceeding. You’ll find some

Chef’s Hats in the shelves to the east (#4). Once you’re looking like a proper chef, Gianna will tell you that the Emperor has requested Potage le Magnifique, and she’ll start quizzing you for ingredients. It won’t make any difference how you answer, or if you answer at all, so choose whichever dialogue options look the best. At the end, Gianna will ask if you’re ready, and that’s when you’ll be able to add the

Jarrin Root. If you decline the opportunity, then you’ll have to kill the Emperor (and probably some of his guards) the old fashioned way, which will make your task more difficult.

Once you’ve completed the Potage le Magnifique, Gianna will carry it up to the dining hall (#3), and she’ll present it to the Emperor. No matter what ingredients you added, the Emperor will pronounce the meal «marvelous» and «delicious» — and then promptly die. At that point his guards will start hunting for you, so for an easier escape, you should be standing right next to the exit to the bridge (Exit B) when the Emperor starts eating.

Note: You’ll find

Emperor’s Robes on the corpse of the Emperor.

About halfway across the bridge (#5), you’ll be stopped by Commander Maro and a few guards. Maro will inform you that somebody from the Brotherhood struck a deal with him — giving information about you and the plot in exchange for the Brotherhood’s continued existence — and he’ll gloat that you killed one of the Emperor’s «insufferable» decoys instead of the real thing. Maro will then announce that he has no intention of following the deal; because of what you did to his son, he plans to kill every last Brotherhood assassin, starting with you. Conveniently, Maro will then leave, and you’ll only have to face his guards.

To complete the quest, you’ll need to return to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. You won’t be allowed to fast travel there directly; instead you’ll have to fast travel to someplace nearby, such as Falkreath, and then walk the rest of the way. When you reach the sanctuary, you’ll find Maro’s forces already there (and Festus pinned to a tree with arrows), and the quest will come to an end.

Best Recreations of Skyrim Items in the Real World

Whether sharp weapons, bulky armor, or delicious versions of classic food, these real-life versions of Skyrim items are impressive.

The Elder Scrolls series has been groundbreaking for gaming with each new game, but none has garnered as much attention as Skyrim. From the minute the players were put into the prison wagon as a Dragonborn, Skyrim made a lasting impression. It was such a success that Bethesda released Skyrim on seven different platforms, including Amazon Alexa, and made over $600 million during the game’s launch. He gained a lot of fans, to say the least, and fans moved on to cosplay, memes, and recreate their favorite Skyrim artifacts from whatever they had on hand.

While the content may be based on a video game, the actual creations created by the hard work of fans are not a game. Whether it’s life-size replicas of giant swords, heavy pieces of armor, or adaptations of classic food, fans have managed to create some truly impressive creations. Given that some of these resources are hard to come by and even harder to create than in the game, these fans have had to love the game a lot more to put in the effort required to bring their favorite 9 to life.0007 items Skyrim . .

Weapons

Despite how simple the game seems to be, some of the weapons in Skyrim are quite complex and will take days (if not weeks) before the blacksmith will be able to start working with him. These parts require planning, acquiring the right resources, and then flawlessly executing the various mechanisms to ensure that the ax or blade comes out exactly as intended. Any small hiccup means a loss of resources and a restart of work. Real blacksmiths should be plentiful and more careful with the resources and weapons they create, but fans still managed to create some amazing stuff

.

In the YouTube show Man at Arms: Reforged , a group of experienced blacksmiths took a Daedric ax from Skyrim. Starting with the steel for the jacket and the blade of the axe, it’s immediately obvious that this is a serious undertaking. Not only do they have to manually punch weapons, they have the advantage of a giant mechanical hammer and other power tools that can do some of the work for them. However, it takes time to finish and at some points the team looks tired. The end result is an ax that pierces everything in front of it. nine0003

Another example shows that a much more humble craftsman named Garrin Bufo created the Razor of Mehrunes, another Daedric weapon from Skyrim. The Bufo starts by shaping the metal blade to make it look iconic before adding a light engraving and sharpening it to a deadly edge. He carves the hilt and hilt with a knife before melting them down with flames. A few coats of paint and one black orb later, and Garrin got an ancient Daedric artifact. nine0003

Armor

When fans are left to their devices, it’s amazing what they can do with just the in-game model. Whether it’s cosplay or just to show off, gamers have been recreating in-game armor for as long as games have existed. Skyrim ‘s armor is no different, albeit a little more colorful and complex than some of the other games. In response, players jumped into their jobs to recreate their favorite light, medium, and heavy armors from Skyrim in the real world. Just like with weapons, gathering the materials needed for these projects is an impressive achievement in itself, which is why a full set of armor is even more awesome.

Skyrim has no problem upping the design complexity of some parts of his armor. While this makes them look really cool, it means you’ll spend hours making sure each spike is perfect in the real world. While they probably didn’t have to level up their blacksmithing skills and collect Daedra hearts, this fan-made Daedric armor is just as impressive as it is in the game. Everything from colors, shapes and weapons look like they were taken straight from Skyrim , and this fan will be a fierce fighter against any enemy.

Food

Skyrim has few more iconic moments than pausing the game to eat six wheels of cheese, a Horker loaf and two bowls of tomato soup to replenish health at the moment of intense battle. While they don’t have the instant digestion of the Dragonborn, these two fans were more than happy to make their favorite Skyrim meals. On YouTube channel MxR Plays, fans of Henry and Ginny cook many famous dishes from the games in the kitchen, and Skyrim occupies a considerable place.

In their ‘MxR Kitchen’ playlist, they cook a variety of Skyrim foods with available ingredients. The video above shows them preparing a three-course dinner from the game with leeks, sweet buns, and a modified version of boiled cream. In another video, they make a snow cake from Hearthfire , , and Potage le Magnifique from the Gourmet in-game book. They also make a version of Skooma but all in Skyrim know that Skooma is highly addictive and illegal.

After a detailed guide on how they did it, and maybe a little hiccups along the way, they created a delicious dish of vegetables and sugar. The finished products, as seen in the thumbnail above, are reminiscent of Skyrim’s recipe counterparts .
