Shogun 2 cheats: Total War Shogun 2 Cheats and Trainers

Total War Shogun 2 Cheats and Trainers

The following Total War Shogun 2 cheats guide reveals two cheating methods that can be used while playing Shogun 2.

Published by Sega, and rated T for TeenShogun 2: Total War is a TBS (turn-based strategy) video game developed exclusively for PC, by The Creative Assembly.

It was released on March 15, 2011 in U.S. Shogun 2: Total War is the eighth episode in the Total War series of video games, following Napoleon: Total War, which was released in 2010.

The video game puts the player in the role of a warlord who must become the supreme ruler of Japan.

The action in Shogun 2: Total War takes place in the 16th century, after the Onin War, when Japan was divided in provinces.

The game features eight clans, and the player can pick one of them when the game starts.

Each clan has weak and strong points, as well as political views, special troops and strategies.

Shogun 2 Cheats: How to cheat in Total War: Shogun 2 using cheat codes

In order to get small in-game advantages while playing Total War: Shogun 2, gamers can opt to use cheat codes or trainers; however some users reported that the cheat codes don’t work.

Players should know that the Shogun 2 Cheats listed below must be typed while the map screen is opened. Each cheat code has a different effect in the game, allowing players to advance faster in the campaign mode, or to increase the amount of Koku and other minerals.

Additionally, players can opt to reveal the entire map while playing a mission, or to set the GOD mode on, an option which makes their troops invincible.

Below is a list with all Shogun 2 cheats, as well as a trainer and instructions on how to get unlimited Koku.

Shogun 2 Cheats: How to cheat in Total War: Shogun 2 using trainers

If the Shogun 2 Cheats listed above don’t work, there is another way to cheat the game: trainers.

Before using any trainer, it is a good idea to check the game’s version, to know which trainer works for you. DLH.net provides several trainers for Total War: Shogun 2, which can be downloaded for free.

If you play Total War: Shogun 2 v1. 0, you can go to DLH.net and download a trainer which gives you unlimited Koku. To use this trainer you have to:

Download the trainer provided by DLH

Extract all files included in the .rar archive

Copy the files in the game’s directory

Run the trainer

Launch the game

After the game starts, you can press the following key to get the corresponding effect:

Shogun Total War 2: Cheats

Total War: Shogun 2 is a game where you take your chosen warlord and conquer as much of Japan as possible, ideally resulting in the establishment of your own shogunate. Like all Total War games, Shogun 2’s goal is simple, but complicated to reach. The game’s not just about the battles, even if that is the part many of us like best, and the prospect of taking over feudal Japan seems a lot easier when you’re not the one juggling generals, provinces, resources, research and diplomats. Luckily, there are a number of cheat codes available to ease your burden, so you can focus more effort on making your Daimyo the next Shogun, and less on worrying about pesky resources like “money” and “time!”

Setup

Please note that these cheat codes may or may not work without a little effort. The general concensus is that these are most likely to work

with an un-patched version of the game. With even the hard copy version of the game requiring Steam registration, this is a little more complicated than it might normally be. To stop your Steam client from automatically patching your game, use the following steps. If your game’s already been patched, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the game in order to get these cheats to work.

  • Open up your Steam client and click on the “Library” tab. This will show you a list of all the games you have purchased / registered on Steam.

  • Right-click on the Shogun 2 icon in the list. (Yours may look a little different from mine, don’t worry. It’ll

work no matter how you’ve got your list set up.)

  • On the drop down, select properties. A smaller window will pop up. In this window, click the updates tab.

  • On the drop down here, set automatic updates to “Do not automatically update this game.”

Trainers

If you still can’t get the cheats to work, or if reinstalling your game seems a little unappetizing, you’ll need to download a “trainer.” This is a separate application that works in the background while you play the game. There are a lot of these out there for download, you just have to do a little bit of Internet detective work to find one you like. Searching for Shogun 2: Total War cheats on YouTube is a good way to see them in action, get links to downloads and find instructions on how to use them.

Most of the trainers will be able to do all the same things the cheat codes do, they just take a little more effort to set up and use. You may need to download more than one in order to get all the features you want. You will most likely need to remember to open up the trainer before you play, and you will have to tab back and forth between the trainer and the game in order to use the cheats they provide.

The effort may be well worth it however, as some trainers will do cool stuff the cheat codes don’t do. For example, the one featured here can give your units unlimited movement, or unlock all the arts of war in a single turn. There are also trainers built for all the different patch levels, so you don’t have to worry about reinstalling, just finding a trainer that fits your version.

Using a trainer is actually my personal recommendation in the case of this particular game. It’s very dubious whether the built-in cheat codes will actually work with your setup, and the trainers provide a lot of very cool and useful features that the cheat codes don’t cover. You may have to work a little to find a trustworthy one that has all the features you like, but they are free to download and their developers are more likely to answer your questions if you have any problems using them.

The Cheats

If you’re not using a trainer, you’ll simply need to type these in on the map screen while you’re playing the game. (An example of the map screen is shown in the picture to the right).

Now, without further ado, the cheats themselves.

  • .matteosartori — Reveal the entire map.
  • .daggins — Reveal the entire map.
  • .muchkoku — Unlimited money.
  • .prototypearmy — Makes your armies invincible.
  • .ifoundmesomecu — Makes all provinces provide copper.
  • .conan — Allows you to play the game as Clan Hojo. (You may have to start a new game.) You’ll have no construction abilities and negative money.
  • .viagra — On the next turn you’ll be able to build armories in any province.
  • .foundmesomeau — Increases your gold.
  • .foundmesomeag — Increases your silver.
  • .foundmesomecu — Increases your copper.
  • .spylookahead — Kill any character without your spy dying.
  • .booyakasha — Construct buildings and units faster.
