All of the high-speed grinding, nosebleed big-air tricks, and spectacular board-twisting, body-contorting tricks of THPS are just as eye-catching and thumb-numbing as they were before, but now theyre enhanced by gorgeous snow-parks and powder-packed resorts.

It’s too scattered and feels poorly designed. [Jan 2002, p.134]

Shaun Palmer may play like Tony Hawk, vaguely, but in the end you’ll realize that it’s nothing more than a rushed, sub-par entry into a genre that is already being dominated by EA Big’s SSX series.

I hate Shaun Palmers Pro Snowboarder, I curse the day it was conceived and I wish a horrible holiday season upon all of those who were involved in its production.

Shaun Palmer is a real extreme!
Few athletes can boast of success in different sports. But Sean Palmer is just one of them. Known by the nicknames «Napalm» and «Palm Daddy», he is considered one of the founders of extreme sports.
Childhood
American snowboarder, skier, mountain biker and motocross racer was born November 14, 1968 in South Lake Tahoe (California, USA). From early childhood, Sean was interested in activities in which there is a lot of speed. His mother told People magazine: “Wheels or boards, it doesn’t matter, it has to be super fast. He wasn’t afraid of anything. One day, when he was 13, he was punished, then he jumped out of the window of his room on the second floor, got on his bike and sped away. Sean has always been like that — pushing boundaries.»
Career and Achievements
Sean admits he was never taught how to snowboard. At the age of 13, he made his own board for skating and after 3 years, after leaving school, he decided to become a professional. After winning three consecutive gold medals in boardcross from 97th to 99th, Sean Palmer became known in snowboarding as Michael Jordan in basketball. A truly legendary athlete is considered one of the most influential people in the history of extreme sports. Napalm has made a huge contribution to the development of snowboarding, in this environment it is as important as Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen for skateboarders. Sean Palmer inspired young people with his lifestyle and style of skating, his posters hung on the walls of many fans as a sign of anti-conformity and waywardness. During his career as a snowboarder, Palmer has won numerous awards. Among them:
— gold in the World Halfpipe Championship (1990),
— 6 x Games gold medals in winter sports (1997, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001),
— silver in the World (1996) and gold in the American ( 1999) mountain bike championships,
— Gravity Games gold medal in the discipline of ski cross in 2002,
— 2 snowboarding World Cup silver (2006 and 2008).
By the time mountain biking was added to their professional skills in 1995, Napalm had already achieved great heights in snowboarding. Teaming up with motocross legends Randy Lawrence and Mike Metzger on Jeff Steber’s «Intense Cycles» team, he entered the World Cup at 1996th. Palmer shocked everyone by finishing 7th in the second round and then finishing second in the final, just 15 hundredths of a second behind Nico Vuillos. That same year, he won gold at the US National Mountain Bike Championships, receiving $300,000 a year sponsorship from Specialized and a major advertising contract with Swatch. Years later, the Palm Daddy returned to mountain biking in 2009, but only finished 12th in the U.S. Championship that season.
Despite success in snowboarding and mountain biking, Palmer himself calls motocross his favorite sport. In 2003 Sean participated in the Supercross Tour. He qualified for the 125cc discipline, but did not show noticeable results.
Interesting facts
1) In the 90s, Palmer was the main vocalist in the punk band Fungus.
2) Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001.
3) In 2015, a biographical film about the life and sports career of Sean Palmer called «Miserable Champion» was released, which, in addition to his achievements, tells about his past problems with alcohol and drugs. Palmer suffered a severe overdose in 2006, however, he pulled himself together and was on the US Olympic snowboarding team that same year.
Present
Sean Palmer, now 50, is in business and founded his snowboard company, Palmer Snowboards, back in 1995. He has two daughters and a son. He also trains young snowboarders.
