Procedure
- NOTE: You must activate the Side Mission: Explore the Local Mysteries to activate the entrance to this crypt
- Fast Travel to the Riverside Base Camp
- From the two explorers who give you the mission, go across the river & follow the path
- Find the cross & push it down — this will open the crypt entrance
- You can climb down to the room below using the ladder
- Crawl through the narrow opening through the rocks
- Move forward through the crypt until you can grapple the wall across the gap
- Rappel down and jump into the water
- The sarcophagus is located in this cavern
Activate «Explore the Local Mysteries» Side Mission First
In order to open the way to the crypt, you must first activate this side mission where you’ll have to locate a character named Isabela.

ACCESS THE TOMB
You can access this tomb from the south of the village in the jungle – start off at either the Riverside Base Camp or the Ruined Tower Base Camp, and head forward into the small jungle area. You’ll know you’re in the right place if an empress jaguar is patrolling.

You don’t have to take out the jaguar if you don’t want to.
Instead, head to the right side of the area to find the gate with yellow painted skulls and squeeze through the gap. Head up the steps to reach the Deserted Cloister Base Camp outside of a ruin.
Next to the base camp you’ll find an Archivist Map and Relic – Mission San Juan.

Enter the building and pick up Document – The Hills Are Alive on a table on the right, then follow the corridor to the end where you can pull down a wooden barrier (on the right here is an Explorer Backpack).
Attach to the craggy wall behind it and scale down before rappelling to the bottom. Enter the catacombs ahead to activate the Mountain Catacombs Base Camp as well as pick up Document – Chechen and Chaca Trees.

Poisonous Gas** – Throughout the tomb are clouds of green gas emitted from statues. The gas is harmful but can cause explosions when hit with fire. Doing so will eliminate the gas for a short period of time, allowing you the opportunity to run past it.
To solve the puzzles within the tomb, ignite the gas to move or traverse platforms, but remember to keep some distance to avoid taking damage.

Use a fire arrow to ignite the gas and quickly move past it to climb the craggy wall ahead. At the top, jump over the gap and dislodge the barricade from the next statue. Ignite the gas to clear a path to the right.
Tether a rope between the two points and zipline down to the ledge. -
Move up the steps and sidestep along the narrow ledge. Swing from the metal hook to reach the other side and run along the tree trunk. Then jump to the craggy wall in front of you and rappel down to the platform below. Run forward and duck through the short tunnel to reach the main section of the tomb.

There’s a large round platform hanging between you and the other side. These platforms are located throughout the tomb and are integral to navigating your way to the top. Most of them require an explosive force to move them, which is where the green gas comes in handy.

Use a fire arrow to shoot the gas on the other side of the platform. When the platform swings your way, hop on to it and ride it back to the other side.

Follow the trail down to the left until you reach another barricade – remove it with the axe.
Some Yaaxil will appear, so ready your weapon and take them out quickly, including a lone archer standing on the ledge above. Afterward, move to the archer’s position and aim a fire arrow at the gas you released earlier. This will push the platform towards you, so jump on to it and then immediately to the other side.

Balance across the log, jump to the round platform, and scramble up the wall. Inspect the mural at the top, then follow the path until you reach a round platform held in place with a rope, along with Relic – Primitive Doll. Cut the rope to release it, then return along the path and jump to the platform. Swing across the hook to the second platform and jump up to the ledge.

Destroy the barricade on the statue on the left, then equip your weapon of choice to take out the next lot of Yaaxil before you continue.

Jump back across the platforms but stop at the second one. Turn around and ignite the gas – this raises the platform you’re standing on, so quickly scramble up the ledge on your right. Just as you head down the right path, more Yaaxil appear, so take them out. Then jump to the craggy surface and cut the rope to release the platform.

Run along the path to pick up another Relic – Primitive Doll as well as dislodge the barricade on the statue at the end. Hop on to the platform behind you, swing across to the second, and stop. Turn around to ignite the gas and drop the platform down a level. Drop down to the ground behind you and fight off a group of Yaaxil warriors and archers.

Scramble up the wall where an archer was previously stood and move right along the path.
Follow it all the way around and jump off the wooden ramp to tightrope across the bridge and reach the stele.

EXIT THE TOMB

From the wooden ramp on the right of the stele, tether a rope to the tree below and slide down the zipline. Head forward to the craggy wall and rappel down, then tether another rope between the two coils.
Stick to the right to scramble up a wall to the next ledge and climb the ladder. Then slide down a third zipline, scramble up the wall ahead, and jump to the craggy surface on the left. Scale up and around to the right to reach an overhang and climb to the top.

Follow the path, balance across a tree trunk, and attach to the next craggy wall. Scale left until you can jump to the ledge, then keep going to break down a weak wall and return to the Mountain Catacombs Base Camp.

The following steps will take you through the aforementioned Evocation Tomb in Shadow of the Tomb Raider:
- You will want to jump into the water, to reach the entrance to this tomb. (Do not follow the dirt road along the cliff as it will take you to another location.)
- Continue to underwater tunnel and swim to the other side, avoiding the wandering moray.

You will enter a room with a dead Yaaxil in the water and a giant stone face in front of you that is partially submerged in water.
- Swim to the upper level of stairs on the left.
- Look up and to your right to see a wooden barrier that you can split open with a bow and rope . (This will then drain the water in the room.)
- Once the water drains, pass through the open mouth of stone face.
- Follow the path until slide down slope into another pool of water.
- Continue straight ahead and through the crack in the wall ahead.
- Cut the rope while holding the submerged raft .
- Climb onto the raft, to jump over to the next section.

Climb the wooden stairs past the base camp on your left. (From here you will enter the main puzzle room.)
- Jump down, trying to avoid the water first, as the piranhas feed on jaaxil corpses.
- Jump over both rafts, until you see a sunken raft.

Then jump into the water to cut the rope holding the third raft, allowing it to float.
- Now swim to the fourth raft, which holds.
- Cut the rope, , to free this one too.
- At this point, you can climb onto the fourth raft and jump onto the ledge.

Follow the path past stationary water wheel and through fallen tree .
- Turn mechanism to the right until water flows onto large stone block . (This will lower the water level in the entire chamber.)
- Jump onto the surface of the wooden platform to the right of the water wheel.

Connect rope between it and the round metal object hanging under the stone face in the ruins.
- Go back to where turning mechanism is located.
- Rotate it so that the water flows over the waterwheel again.
- This will raise the water level and the gate near the ruins along with it.
- Before jumping into the water, turn the mechanism after the gate is raised so that no more water flows through the water wheel.
- If you hold it over the waterwheel, the rope will break and the gate will fall down before you can swim towards it.
- After opening the gate, swim to the ruins of .
Follow the path up and you will complete the tomb. This unlocks the Sip’s Strike skill, which increases the damage of charged arrows against armored enemies.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: How to complete all the tombs of challenge
Tombs of Trial are secondary quests that allow Lara to explore ancient caves, show her climbing skills and solve various puzzles to eventually unlock one of the additional skills. There are nine tombs in total, so you can get nine bonus skills accordingly.
By the way, for completing all the tombs, Lara will receive the title of «Tomb Raider» (achievement).
Judge’s eye
Location of the tomb.
A tomb found in the Peruvian jungle. Make your way closer to its entrance and destroy the obstacle ahead using the arrow. Move forward, jump over the ravine, throwing ice axes, and then go down into the water.
The next obstacle is a sculpture that cannot be bypassed. First, find a fresco in the room to increase the level of knowledge of the local Quechua dialect, then go up to the hill on the right hand and jump onto the device that is a counterweight.
After collecting the necessary resources, move forward along the wooden bridge, swim on the water and keep going straight until you find a new fresco. From here, go down and find the main cave of the tomb with the main puzzle. Using counterweights, Lara must lift the stairs leading to the fresco with skill.
First, move the cart on the left side so that the counterweight is raised and the statue is lowered. The trolley should be located right next to the ladder. Move to the stairs and fire an arrow at the sculpture on the left side, which will allow you to secure the rope. Set the trolley located farther to the place where the first one was by default, which will allow you to grab onto the counterweight raised up. Climb higher on the left side and lower this counterweight. A similar method should be used to lift the other sculpture on the right side. Then it remains to use the stairs, study the fresco, having received the skill, and leave the tomb.
Underworld Gate
Location of the tomb.
Located in the Peruvian jungle. During the passage of the story part of the game, you will find the first camp with a fire not far from the plane crash site, on a small hill. Move towards the marker that will appear when you are near the desired location. Crawl under the rhizomes of trees that have crawled out, go ahead and find a cliff. Here you will have to climb a branch of a tree and jump to another from a running start in order to later cling to a rock with the help of ice axes. Go down below and turn off the trap, then pick up the geographer’s backpack, which will automatically put several important markers on the map.
Move up the hill, from where you can get to the opposite side through the branches of trees. In the end, you will need to go down as low as possible on the rope, then swing and jump towards the ledge. Examine the local camp, examine the wall on the right side and look up to see a point that you can grab onto with an ice pick. Thus, get over to the opposite side.
On the right hand between the walls there is a passage leading to a small room. In the hall on the right side there is a ledge that allows you to climb higher. There are two ways to go: either along the wooden bridge on the right side, which leads outside, or along the left path deep into the tomb. Climb down the wall or take a running jump to the other side while on the lower platform. After climbing the tree, jump forward and hook the ice picks on the tree branch. On the left side you can find a small cave with useful items and gold ore. Move along the fallen tree and find the main puzzle.
In the process of solving it, no particular difficulties should arise. You should turn the device counterclockwise until you can connect two opposite sides with a rope. Get over there, pull the lever next to the second device and activate the platform on the crane. Go back and rotate the first device so that it is in its original position. Connect the platform as well using the same rope.
Move again to the second lever and pull it. For a few seconds, the rope will hold the platform, so you will have time to quickly jump onto it. After moving to the platform, follow down and inspect the fresco. Jump onto the rock on the right side and take a run to get to the rock, which you need to hook on with ice axes. At this point, the tomb will begin to collapse, stones will fall on you from the right and left. When the first stone flies, then jump in the right direction and climb up. There will be a fresco here, upon study of which a new skill is unlocked.
Howling Caverns
Location of the tomb.
This Tomb of Trials is located in Kuwak Yaku. She’s here alone! You either explore the location yourself and discover a cave, or talk with one of the townspeople, after which a corresponding mark will appear on the map. In order to get to the right place, feel free to jump off the cliff into the abyss, hitting the pond. You can explore the bottom of the reservoir to collect many useful items.
Move forward and at the very end of the cave you will find a sharp descent. Lara will roll down, and you will need to press the jump key in time, and then plunge the ice axes into the rock. Once hooked on it, hang on the rope as low as possible and start swinging to jump into a small area. It is important to have time to grab onto the ledge on the wall and go down even lower.
Follow the small hole in the wall through which Lara can crawl to the other side. then another descent and a battle with wild animals awaits you. After completing the fight successfully, inspect the fresco and move towards the cliff with fire. Shoot the bow so that you can get over the rope to the other side.
Move to the top and explore the cave on the left side, where there will be a hidden cache. On another path you can get to the main hall of the tomb, where, as always, you have to solve the puzzle. Examine the cave and find three levers that open special gates. With their help, you can put out the fire on the bridge in order to remove all obstacles from the path.
First interact with the first device and grab onto the swinging pendulum. Pick up the moment with strong gusts of wind and jump to the other side. With the help of the second device, open the gate to go to the hill on the opposite side. Follow there and calculate the time needed to act with a strong gust of wind. Shoot from the bow at the top of the pendulum, which, together with the barrier, will move from its place and open the passage further.
Go back to the second device to close the gate, as the strong wind might cause Lara to fall off the bridge. Move to the last device, but don’t open it as the third swinging equipment is in the way here. Attach the rope to the pendulum and open the gate of the second device. Extinguish the fire, inspect the fresco and, having gained the skill, get out.
Battle Path
Location of the tomb.
This tomb is located in the Hidden City. Go to its western part and not far from the entrance to the crypt you will find the tomb of the test.
Follow to the lake and dive under the water to find a narrow passage ahead. Move through the flooded area, get to the surface and inspect the fresco in the camp. Your path lies behind him. Use the device to go through the gate, climb onto the ledge on the left side and overcome the obstacles by jumping to the mountain. Fasten the rope and go down, where you will need to swing and jump further.
Next, examine the fresco and use the other lever to go through the next gate. Below, a column located here will trigger traps that will rotate counterclockwise. In total there are two passages — on the left and right hands. Each path will lead you to a device that temporarily deactivates traps but releases immovable obstacles. It doesn’t matter where you decide to go first. Go to the device, interact with it and, without stopping in place, follow through the obstacles and grab the lever to remove part of the column. Do the same on the other side. When the column stops, you can climb to the top and interact with the fresco to get the skill.
Ancient Aqueduct
Location of the tomb.
Another tomb in the Hidden City. This time it’s about the top of Paytiti. After the cutscene inside the temple, follow the target marker of the main quest. Before the bridge, turn left and move down the cliff. Further in the story, you will need to go to the right side by jumping onto the beam, but you go left, deep into the cave. Inside, dive under the water and move forward. Don’t forget to replenish oxygen in the air pockets. After getting out of the water, climb the rock using the ice axes, then inspect the relic on the right side and move on.
In the new part of the cave, jump onto the ledge on the right side and pick up useful items. There is nothing special under the water, so climb up to the ledge above and inspect the fresco. Go straight, on the left hand you will find the camp. Jump into the next body of water, collect useful resources and in the next room you will find the mystery of the tomb.
First, start the device to fill the pool with water and raise the raft to the surface. Follow below and interact with the lever located under the water, which will open the gateway and drain the pond. Move the raft closer to the gate and connect the two items using the rope. Return to the device and launch it to open the way further.
Swim through the water into the next room, find a lever similar to the previous one, and drain the pond. Shoot a bow at the barrier, removing it from the passage so that you can return to the previous room. Lara will be attacked by enemies. After defeating them, move the raft to the next room and fill the tank with water using the first device. The raft should be located next to the left wall. Go upstairs, take the ammo and move to the next room. Keep killing the enemies trying to thwart Lara.
Next, the last stage of the puzzle will begin. Activate the lever at the beginning of the hall to raise the water level in the tank.
On the right side there is a wheel with paddles for water. Go to the raft and shoot the bow at the rope on the wheel. This will set the raft in motion, and you will be able to get to the obstacle. There is a platform in the center of the room that can be tied with a rope to a wheel. Shoot the hook near the platform, then fight off the opponents and cut the rope. While you are at war with the natives, the raft will move away from the central pillar, which you must climb until the rope breaks. As soon as the raft starts moving, shoot the hook and jump into the water. Climb onto the pillar, follow it to the platform and go into the room with the fresco.
On the right side of the fresco there is a lift. At the end of it there is a rope that allows you to get out. If you decide to return the same way, you will have to follow the same steps that we described earlier, but in reverse order.
Temple of the Sun
Location of the tomb.
The entrance to this tomb, located near the Secret City of Paititi, is located under water.
You need to go to the southern part of the city (upper on the map) and inspect the houses. In one of those there is a small pool that leads into the cave. Look around in the cave and go upstairs. Here you can break the destructible wall and go inside the tomb of the test. Move through various obstacles, moving along the rocks to get to the temple. After collecting resources and relics, inspect the fresco near the passage to the room with a riddle.
There are four mirrors in the room. Look for the first near the entrance from the southeast side, the second — in the northwest corner, the third and fourth — in the northeast and southwest. You can’t fall into the water, otherwise Lara will die. It is important to remember this numbering!
Start setting up your mirrors. First, turn the first mirror so that it is directed towards the left column. Move to the fourth mirror and adjust it in such a way that the beam of light hits the column located close to the third mirror.
Go back to the first lever and adjust the light beam to the column located next to the first and third mirrors. Next, you need to deploy the device with the first mirror to the right side to get to the third. Here, turn the third lever, rotating it counterclockwise, towards the adjacent column.
Head back to the first device and activate the pillar to the fourth mirror. Get there, deploy the mechanism on the same column (look for the crystal at the bottom). Finding out the exact location of the tomb is simple: the fact is that you will have to visit it on the only side task of this location (Destiny), and this will happen in the second part of the task after passing through one of the crypts. To get to the entrance to the tomb, go to the southern region of the area. There you will find a wooden bridge with a sign forbidding passage. Walk to the left to find the lake. Dive into it and follow to the place indicated on the map.
The entrance is under water, but you have to hide from piranhas and moray eels. Hide from the fish by hiding in the bushes at the very bottom and choosing routes that they do not swim. After reaching the hall, inspect the fresco, collect resources and climb to the top of the cliff on the right, where you will find a lever.
By activating it with a bow, you will drain the container and you can go further.
Go straight until you see a spacious room. Swim underwater and, avoiding the piranhas, free the two rafts by cutting the ropes. The rope of one of them is hidden to the left-bottom of the locked door, inside the niche. To go further, turn the lever at the water wheel clockwise. Follow the platform to the wheel, where there is a rope, stand nearby and shoot at the metal circle above the gate, which also has a rope. Thus, you will link the devices together. Reactivate the lever that controlled the water supply. The wheel will start to spin, but don’t rush to leave! If you leave everything as it is, then the rope will break and the door will close again. You must wait for the ideal tension of the rope when the passage is open, and then again turn off the rotation of the wheel using the same lever.
