Rust is an unflinching multiplayer survival game that requires endurance and patience in order to really unlock its potential. The dynamics it creates in terms of player interaction are endlessly fascinating and prove to be a real boon for organic narrative flashpoints between players. Its pure multiplayer focus does mean it doesn’t have what you’d call a traditional endgame, but it more than makes up for that with the unpredictability its social design brings.

Rust Console Edition is, simply, a console port of an 8-year-old PC survival game that has managed to stand the test of time. It may not perform as smoothly on console yet but the desperate fights for survival against hostile forces still remains.

Many titles share the core gameplay loop of mining, crafting, and conquering the world. So, what sets a sandbox like Rust apart? Almost nothing. It is a dynamic, immersive survival sandbox with none of the charm of other games in its genre. Its heart and soul lie in its unforgiving, player-driven, immersive environment. As a result, the world is utterly unpredictable, so no two servers will share a state of decay. Which is to say, if you like having no idea what’s gonna happen, this easily stands apart.

Rust Console Edition manages to transcribe the wildly popular PC experience, but a few key missing features mean it falls short of what it should be. It could be great in time, but right now it feels like a disappointing misstep in comparison to the fleshed out PC version.

Rust: Console Edition will see its player base split into two. You’ll either spend your time dying repeatedly, or you’ll get good enough to become the villain of the server.

Horrible optimisation, terrible frame lag when in pvp and near monuments also in general graphics are just bad. But the worst part by far is the crashing. So much Crashing. Loading into a server takes about 15 tries, error after error and once you finally get in and get going you crash in the middle of no where and lose everything. Still alright to play with mates at points but in general for the price and the amount of time we have waited for the console port, not worth it.… Expand

And I’ve played thousands of hours of other survival / FPS games on console. RUST CONSOLE IS HORRIBLE IN EVERY WAY. DEVS ARE DIRT SLOW, PVP IS HORRENDOUSLY AWKWARD, UPDATES NEVER COME, AND ITS ONLY SOMEWHAT “playable” on PS5! *cough* and it’s a PS4 game, oops! I don’t understand how devs can get a game SO WRONG. I could make a better game hiring people off of Fiverr. If you want to hate this game, buy it and play it on whatever console you have. If you want to love this game, buy the PC VERSION.… Expand

Rust Console Edition Release Date Announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Rust, the competitive online multiplayer survival game that was first released in early access on PC in 2013, is officially coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility) on May 21, 2021. The announcement was revealed alongside a new trailer and a blog post by developer Double Eleven that details the differences between Rust Console Edition and Facepunch Studios’ PC version.LoadingWhile Rust Console Edition is obviously based on the PC version, it has been «designed and optimised for a completely separate and unique console player experience.»
Double Eleven had been in talks with Facepunch since 2016 about the idea of creating this console version, and the teams knew early on that the two games would «need to be in separate universes given that the PC edition can expand as it needed to, and performance would be maintained so long as people continued to upgrade their hardware, while consoles on the other hand have finite resources that need to be more closely managed.»
Performance was the team’s «biggest and most demanding challenge» and Double Eleven needed to «rip apart and rewrite major engine subsystems within Unity» to get it up to standards.LoadingLoad times were also a big issue, and the team explained how initial load times took up to 45 minutes to read and decompress the procedural map and its assets into memory. By implementing a new bootstrap system that would allow for the loading of multiple Unity scenes and asset bundles simultaneously, the game now loads «in around one minute give or take.»
The team also decided to pick a point in Facepunch’s code base that served as a good foundation, and decided it would rebuild some of the more advanced features once a solid base on which to build was established.
This means that Rust Console Edition will follow its own update roadmap that differs from the PC version that will «provide an optimal player experience while gradually introducing players to the vast amount of game play and content that makes Rust an incredible experience.»LoadingWhile Double Eleven isn’t quite ready to reveal the roadmap, the studio promises some of it will be shown closer to the release of the game in May.
The developer did reveal that Rust Console Edition will be getting a Deluxe and Ultimate Edition which include Beta access in April 2021, 3-days early access, and more.

Rust for PlayStation and Xbox: when will it be released?
Much has been said about the launch of Rust for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . Since it was officially announced in November 2019, many users have been constantly asking about the status of the port that is responsible for Double Eleven, and after the first delay without much news, it seems that we already have the first clue about its launch. .

Very Slow Release
As they confirmed that Rust was coming to consoles in 2020, there were a lot of users wondering throughout December where the hell is the game they’ve been waiting for over a year. This prompted Double Eleven to issue a statement of apology for the missed deadlines, but basically confirmed what many already thought: 2020 has been a very difficult year to work with.
They had nothing to say about the game so they called us before 2021 to see what’s new and here we are. With the resurgence of Rust thanks to trendy youtubers and the GOLAND server, the game reached a very high audience level on Twitch , which has also become the most played game on Steam in recent weeks. But what about console version of ?
He already has an age rating of
Luckily, things seem to be moving forward and at least the most boring paperwork is on its way. This is something we can intuit upon learning that Rust has reached the age rating for console version on the ESRB website, indicating it will be available for PS4 and Xbox One, not PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series. S (everything indicates that we will have to pull backwards compatibility).
Rated Mature , the game is intended for adult users due to the violence that can be seen in the game, although if there is one thing that will attract special attention during the game, it is the feeling of hatred that can be achieved by confrontations between players . There is already an age mark attached to the game box, does that mean its release will be imminent? Probably no.
What about PS5 and Xbox Series X?
Given the difficulties that Double Eleven had in developing the previous generation version, we are very concerned that the improved and optimized version for new consoles may take too long. At the moment, information published in ESRB Newsletter This leaves no room for doubt, so for now the only playable version will be the PS4 and Xbox One version.
Do we have a release date?
It’s one thing to have an age rating stamp, and another thing to have a game’s release date. For that, we’ll have to keep waiting for Double Eleven to shed some light on this, but considering their last statement was released on December 7th, they probably still have nothing new to say about it at this point.
When will Rust be released on PS4?

When is Rust Coming to PS4? The Facepunch Studios name (it’s an epic title, by the way) for the multiplayer survival game is quite a while now, and ever since the game was originally launched via early access back in 2013. Needless to say, some gamers were anticipating Rust PS4 release for some time now, especially since it’s been over a year since the full game was released in February 2018.
Rust PS4
Rust would be the obvious choice for PS4 despite the console being in its seventh year on the market. The game runs on the Unity engine, which is already fully compatible with the current set of hardware, so porting Rust doesn’t seem to be too much of a challenge.
In fact, Facepunch said at one point that it was going to bring the popular title to PS4 and Xbox One, although that was some time ago. However, here’s what Harry Newman had to say to Facepunch at the time:
“So with Rust we plan to bring it to consoles. We have not started this process yet. We don’t plan anything until we try to run it on one of the consoles and find out what problems we will encounter. It is important to emphasize here that we are porting to consoles. We don’t make a stupid console version and then port it back to PC. This may happen, or it may not. Depends on a lot of things. In any case, neither PS4 nor Xbox One has any kind of early access program as far as I know, so it will be in a while.»
Back in June 2018, a post on Reddit seemed to confirm that a console version was still in development, although nothing had been officially confirmed. What’s more, evidence has suggested that Double 11 is indeed working on the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
Right now, Facepunch seems to be fully focused on the PC version of the game, which fans say is still in some sort of state. Fast butcher on roadmap shows no mention of Rust PS4 release or even PS5 release. Again, if anything changes, we will be sure to update this article with the latest information.
