Leaker Reaffirms Resident Evil Revelations 3: Outrage is In Development

Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem claims that the third entry in the Resident Evil Revelations series could be coming within a year of Village.

While the hype surrounding Resident Evil 8: Village is at an all-time high now that the game finally has a release date of May 7th, the game is only the first in what Capcom promises to be a series of releases celebrating Resident Evil‘s 25th anniversary. One of these projects is rumored to be the third entry in the Resident Evil Revelations series, spin-off entries of the Resident Evil franchise that act as canonical side-stories. According to Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem, Resident Evil Outrage, the working title for Resident Evil Revelations 3, is planned to release within a year from Resident Evil 8: Village.

Resident Evil Revelations was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, the game was designed with the intention of bringing Resident Evil back to its survival horror roots after the main series took a more action-heavy approach through titles such as Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. The game was later ported to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in 2013, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports following in 2017. A sequel followed in 2015 in the form of Resident Evil Revelations 2, an episodic release that released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch port following.

Now it appears that the Resident Evil Revelations series is making its way back to Nintendo platforms, as prominent Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem has claimed that Resident Evil: Outrage, a title featured in Capcom’s leaked games line-up last year, is actually Resident Evil Revelations 3, and is currently in development for Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, Dusk Golem expects the game to release within a year from Resident Evil 8: Village. He expects the game to be a Switch timed-exclusive, much like Monster Hunter: Rise, the game will also utilize the RE Engine, again like Rise.

As Dusk Golem mentions, it seems reasonable to expect Resident Evil Revelations 3: Outrage to release in early 2022 given that Capcom has been somewhat aggressive in releasing Resident Evil titles every year since 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, with a remake of Resident Evil 3 following just last year, and Resident Evil 8: Village now only 3 months away. If the game is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, or even timed-exclusive, Outrage is likely to be a smaller title than any of the mainline entries in the series, much like the other Revelations games, although it seems unlikely that the game will return to Revelations 2‘s episodic release schedule.

The Resident Evil Revelations series is known for focusing on characters that have been noticeably absent from main series instalments in recent years, such as Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Barry Burton. While Claire and Leon S. Kennedy are set to appear in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, an animated Netflix series releasing later this year, it might be safe not to expect either of them to appear in Outrage, however this entry could mark the canonical return of Jill Valentine, whose last appearance in the franchise’s canon was the original Resident Evil Revelations.

Leaker claims Resident Evil Outrage is actually Resident Evil Revelations 3

A Capcom insider has claimed that the leaked Resident Evil Outrage is actually Resident Evil Revelations 3 in all but name.

Dusk Golem, who you might be familiar with from past leaks associated with the Resident Evil series, claims that Resident Evil Revelations 3 is coming, but under the name Resident Evil Outrage. Additionally, the leaker also claims that Outrage is launching within a year of Resident Evil 8 (which releases in May 2021), and will be a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.

(1/2) This is not from me, but for the record, Revelations 3 is coming out within a year of Village’s release date, either late 2020 or early 2021. It probably won’t be called Rev 3, the name we know it as is «Resident Evil Outrage», but it was Rev 3 at one point in dev at the https://t.co/LJOBkW7txrFebruary 14, 2021

If you’re not familiar with Resident Evil Outrage, it was one of the unannounced Capcom projects outed through a ransomware attack on the company late last year. After refusing to pay the ransom demand to hackers, information pertaining to Capcom franchises like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter was leaked online, which included Resident Evil Outrage.

If Dusk Golem’s claims are accurate, then Resident Evil Revelations is being revived under the name of Resident Evil Outrage. For those unfamiliar with the series, Revelations is a spin-off series of the main numbered entries, beginning in 2012 with a timed exclusivity for the Nintendo 3DS, whereas Resident Evil Revelations 2 launched in 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version coming two years later in 2017.

In all, it’s set to be an incredibly busy 12 months for Resident Evil. Resident Evil 8 launches in May 2021 for both current and next-gen consoles, accompanied by the multiplayer Resident Evil: ReVerse. A Resident Evil movie reboot will release later in September 2021, while Resident Evil Outrage will supposedly launch in late 2021/early 2022. On top of that, a Resident Evil Netflix series is slated for launch at some point in 2021, bringing the total of Resident Evil projects releasing within the next year to five.

Resident Evil 8 was originally Revelation 3” Let’s talk about video games

Dusk insider Golem has revealed some details about the future of the Resident Evil franchise. According to what was reported on Resident Evil 8 currently work on was originally supposed to be Resident Evil Revelations 3 . will become head are numbered of the original series.

The reason I said RE8 was «a few years away» earlier this year is because RE8 was in development last year and a few more years before that. But Capcom didn’t want a huge gap between RE7 and RE8, so that title has been pushed aside for now, and internal testing and such has been very positive on Rev 3.

“The reason I said Resident Evil 8 was ‘out of the way’ in the past is because RE8 was in development last year and this project is still many years away. But Capcom didn’t want a big gap between RE7 and RE8, so they decided to temporarily put that title aside. And internal tests have been overwhelmingly positive on the Revelation 3″.

According to an insider, Resident Evil 8 will be released in 2021, and the opening will take place in the coming months. Not only that: the official announcement was scheduled for E3 2020, but due to the cancellation of the event, everything has been pushed back to a date Twilight Golem is unaware of.

Another interesting detail is the predominance of supernatural elements in the game. is in contrast to the rest of the series based mainly on sci-fi elements. It would be a case very similar to Mikami’s first version of Resident Evil 4, then set aside for the final version, from the ashes of which the first Devil May Cry was born.

The game has had huge changes to make it more like a «mainline» title, big changes to the story, characters, etc. So specifically what you’ve heard may not be entirely true in the ending, but a number of elements remain .

So, as I said, this is a game of different generations.
