( RE4 is 6th ), its classic, its true survival horror, it has puzzles and well…i can say the pre rendered sequences is still amazing in terms of presentation ! its true that aiming can be painful sometimes, the camera angles could be hard to spot enemies around, opening closing doors can get fastidious but in the end all of these are factors which gave the series an original identity.
   Im glad i have purchased this, I did not have the chance to play the GC version, it feels like a fresh new game, story and sound design and gameplay is awesome.
   I recommend all the RE fans to support this game so that CAPCOM can bring us more remasters !!… Expand

It is probably the only perfect game I have ever played in my life. It is tremendous from start to finish, having level design on the same level of Dark Souls, 9 years before that game came out. The game also has zero fat, every single room and place has a purpose. This makes the mansion one of the most memorable settings in any videogame I’ve ever played. The backtracking is not an issue since there are surprises around every corner and the enemies get updated as you play along, keeping the areas fresh.

The atmosphere, I’m sure this has been said tons of times and rightfully so, is unforgettable and very effective. It always has you scared of whether or not to take a step forward since there are always zombie sounds from the next corner or hallway, driving your mind to think of what could be in the next room and creating a sense of tension even before getting to where the zombie is. It makes you want to quit the game altogether, that’s how terrifying the experience can be, which is definitely a bonus if a game has such an effect on the player. Thankfully the legendary save rooms provide a brief respite from the constant tension.

Adding to the stress is the limited inventory, no other game that I know of has consequences to every single action that can be taken, do you want to kill a zombie and be relieved of the stress that the zombie causes you when you have to backtrack a number of times in a particular room, if so then you’d better be prepared for that temporary relief to end violently since the zombies will wake up even stronger and faster as Crimson Heads. Thankfully the game gives you two items which can get rid of them but they require dangerous treks through the mansion to refuel, and of course they’re finite resources. You want to pack up extra ammo and health items to be able to deal with most of the zombies, well you won’t have any more space for key items. Managing your inventory is a huge part of this game and you’ll have to think about everything you do, ahead of time even. You wasted all the ammo on the normal zombies, oh well now you only have the knife to aid you against the boss battles.

I thought I would hate the tank controls and fixed camera angles, since they’re outdated but my god they fit this game perfectly. Almost every frame is as beautiful as a painting and allows the director to have control over what the player can and cannot see, contributing majorly to the feeling of tension. This is what a true movie game looks like, or at least what I wish it to be. Make sure to go with the classic controls as opposed to the newer (alternate) ones.

Replayability is also incredibly high, with 2 different characters, decisions that you make throughout the game that have meaningful consequences which leads to 12 different endings!! Also the twists in this game are actually awesome. Every choice you make in the game is meaningful, do you decide to thoroughly explore the mansion, if so you might just be able to rescue your captive partner, you might avoid a scary boss fight, or you might have a partner aiding you in the final encounter. To get the platinum you’d have to complete a number of challenge runs, including a no save run, a very speedy run in under 3 hours and a knife only run. I just finished 8 runs for the platinum, this many aren’t needed but I was just enjoying my time so much that I didn’t mind squeezing more playtime out of this gem.

I just wanted to rave a bit about this game, it’s been such a long time that I found a game to be this good. I’ve had my Ps4 for a year and a half now and after playing numerous games, this is by far the best game I’ve played on my Ps4. I started it with the intention of getting it over with since such an old game could never be this good right? To my huge surprise, after the end of my first playthrough I found myself in tears and in disbelief as to how a game could be this good. This is now one of my top 5 games of all time and I just wanted to convince more people to try it out, you won’t be disappointed.
