How To Unlock the Full Map in RDR2:

When you start the game, the Red Dead Redemption 2 map in the menu is completely covered by fog, with areas becoming visible only as you visit them and progress through the game.

In the first chapter of the RDR2 Story, you begin your journey in Ambarino, at the north of the map.

After Chapter 2, the map becomes completely accessible with the exception of Blackwater and the state of New Austin. You’ll have access to the states of New Hanover, Lemoyne, and of course Ambarino. You will have to travel around the map in order to «uncover» these areas on the map.

Finally, Blackwater and the state of New Austin become accessible only in the Epilogue of the game, as they’re locked in the main chapters.

If you try to enter those locations before reaching the Epilogue, you will be automatically shot by an invisible sniper.

While many locations from the first Red Dead Redemption game are featured in the RDR2 map, unfortunately, Mexico is not officially included in the sequel.

However, it is possible to use a glitch to travel to Mexico, and while you can explore it freely, the Mexico area is very barren and incomplete.

How To Access Guarma & Mexico in RDR2

In addition to the «main» game map, Red Dead Redemption 2 also features a tropical island called Guarma.

Guarma is described to be an island east of Cuba, and can normally be accessed only during Chapter 5 of the RDR2 Story Mode.

However, it is possible to reach Guarma at any time using a glitch, which you can see in the video below:

Cheat Code To Unlock the Full RDR2 Map Early

Even though you can unlock the full Red Dead Redemption 2 map by playing through the story, the game also features a cheat code that reveals the entire map.

The cheat code to unlock the full RDR2 map is «You Long for Sight but See Nothing«. You can use it only after completing the Chapter 3 mission «Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern», and purchasing the newspaper «Saint Denis Times no. 47″.

The Red Dead 2 cheats are code phrases that you enter in the «Cheats» section of the Pause Menu.

However, Red Dead 2 cheats can only be used temporarily, as they don’t allow you to save your progress and will temporarily disable achievements. You will have to close the game and re-open it to resume your normal progress.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Map Assigns Regions to Real US States

By
Jared Carvalho

Red Dead Redemption 2 player maps out the different regions found in-game with their real-world counterparts of the western United States.

A game’s map can be one of the most important aspects of development for a title and can determine everything from how immersive the world feels to what kind of experience players are signing up for. In the case of Red Dead Redemption 2 and its predecessor, development at Rockstar Games was fortunate enough to have the real United States to use as a template for the game’s Wild-West atmosphere.

While the actual game map in Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t exactly a one-to-one recreation of the western states of America, much of the topography, climate, and wildlife can indicate the general relation between in-game regions and real-life locations. One player has now shared a new map that overlays several of the regions found in the game and places them on their respective states throughout the western United States.

RELATED: Red Dead Redemption 2 Fan Shows Off Impressive Arthur Morgan Cosplay

The map takes into account a number of locations found in the most recent prequel of Red Dead Redemption as well as New Austin and Nuevo Paraiso from the original. As most fans would expect, it places Saint Denis as New Orleans and Bayou Nwa as Louisiana, but the map goes as far as to pinpoint the real-life regions for Big Valley and The Grizzlies. It shows how much of where players explore in the game is meant to represent a large portion of the United States, with much of the series taking place to the west of the Mississippi River.

Thought this was pretty cool from reddeadredemption

Other fans have been quick to point out several issues with this latest interpretation of the map, however, pointing out the placement of New Austin and Tall Trees as incorrect, among others. For one, New Austin has much more in common with Arizona, as that is where many of the Western films that the original Red Dead Redemption draws from for both the story and setting. So, this version of the map isn’t a perfect representation of the game’s regions in comparison to real-life locations, but it does still show exactly how much of the country the open world is supposed to represent.

Pinpointing the exact locations from Red Dead Redemption 2 into the real-world is difficult, considering the way that Rockstar had to condense huge parts of the country into a more manageable map. Unlike Grand Theft Auto, which recreates full cities as the entire map, taking on multiple Western states means that there can’t really be a one-to-one recreation of any one place. It still goes to show how well development of the map went that so many fans can pinpoint the general region that each section is meant to represent based on even the smallest details.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.

Red Dead Redemption 2 — how I stopped looking at the map and began to look around — DTF games

RDR2 my friend and I pre-ordered for PS4 back in 2018 as soon as the opportunity arose. I ran the first part on the xbox360 to the point that it was the only game in which I completed the passage 100% — I opened all the costumes, found all the secrets, played board games in all cities and studied the map inside and out. So I waited for the second part with bated breath, as the main video game event of the last five years.

You can admire the dawn dawns in rdr2 for hours.

I completed Redemption for the first time a month after it was released. Every day I spent several hours with a gamepad in my hands, and on weekends I completely disappeared in front of the TV going through story and side tasks, hunting and fishing for hours in forests and mountains, robbing stores and shops in all five states and fought with gangs.

The variety of entertainment provided by the game was pleasing to the eye. It was exactly the Wild West that I wanted to see. All the diversity of flora and fauna corresponding to the American frontier of the late 19centuries, it was available, there were plenty of cannons and piercing objects, and the behavior of the NPCs in battle and after being wounded was forced to believe in what was happening on the screen. But still, something was missing for me.

For me, Pronghorn Ranch is almost my favorite stage and the most beautiful location in the game. It smells of the freshness of mountain air, morning mist and wet grass from dew.

At the beginning of this year, I decided to return to RDR2 in order to once again enjoy the story and open world of the game.

After playing for 3-4 hours, I realized what exactly prevented me from immersing myself in the first passage. I was terribly distracted by the mini-map in the corner of the screen. I just stared at her all the time, looking where the road leads and where the enemies are, instead of looking at the road and looking for the enemies on my own.

It was decided to disable its display.

From that moment on, the world of the game sparkled with new colors.

— Well, what are you looking at, let’s turn off the mini-map.

The developers did an incredible job and did everything. so that a person who has turned off the mini-map does not experience discomfort and the need to open a menu with a full-screen map every three seconds and look out for where to go and with whom to fight. All locations in the game are memorable, the characters in the dialogues always tell Arthur where to go, where to turn and from which side the enemy will attack. and if they don’t tell you, then you know in advance where you need to go, and getting to this place, following the road signs or just from memory, will not be difficult.

In two playthroughs, I have not seen two similar paths, clearings or forests in the game world. You always know exactly where you are and after 5-10 hours of playing without a map, you already accurately navigate the world, understand where to take a shortcut to get to your goal faster or where to direct your horse to ambush bounty hunters or escape from those who are chasing you lawyers.

Of course, from time to time you have to open the world map to see where the nearest marker of the story / side mission is, but this is extremely rare. Firstly, the player receives most of the story missions in the camp, and his location is known and easy to remember, and secondly, if one of the story NPCs is going to move from the camp, he will definitely tell about it.

I think old Trevor would approve of this approach

A separate juice is to fight with a gang of Skinners in the epilogue, these guys love to use bows and machetes, and without a mini-map, looking out for them in the forest and listening to what is happening around is a real challenge that turns what is happening into a game of survival.

Taking my eyes off the mini-map completely changed my perception of the game world and got a completely new gaming experience. Highly recommended for those who would like to return to the story mode of RDR2 and fully immerse themselves in it. as well as those who have not yet familiarized themselves with the game. What is happening on the screen, unencumbered with an extra interface, is fundamentally different from what you are used to seeing relying not on your feelings, but on the mini-map markers.

R* set the bar high for open-world video game development, and for me personally, the world of RDR2 was only revealed to its fullest when I removed the map from the screen and started looking around.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Treasure Maps, Caches and Gold Bars

In this guide, we will tell you where to look for eight treasures hidden in the massive game world of Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as indicate the location of all killer clues.

On the treasure maps you will see only small parts of the locations that show the path to the treasure. Maps can be found on your own or bought from treasure hunters that you can encounter in different parts of the world.

Jack Hall’s Gang Treasure Map

Jack Hall’s Gang is an old-time criminal gang that hid some of the loot somewhere in or near New Hanover. You can buy the first map from the treasure hunter Maximo, who can be met after the start of the second chapter near Flatneck Station. He will offer a card for $5. You can refuse and kill the man, then take her from the body of the dead man. If you ignored and did not buy a card from Maximo, you can do it later.

The desired location from the first treasure map.

The first card

So, the first card can be received from Maximo. Look for it on a ridge overlooking the river northwest of Flatneck Station and north of Bard’s Crossing. Initially, Maximo will ask for $10, but if you refuse, the price will be reduced to five.

The map will show Caliban’s Seat, a unique mountain range south of Valentine. Climb up the hill to the east to reach the very top. Follow the path in the rocks to the top. Move along the ledge, jumping over gaps and climbing over ledges, until you reach a large white granite boulder with a small hole. Inside it you will find the second treasure map.

Second map

The first map leads to the cache with the second treasure map of Jack Hall’s gang. On it you will find a new location Cotorra Springs. It is located to the east of the dividing line between the adjacent letters A and R in the inscription AMBARINO on the map (and to the south of the inscription itself). This area is also home to the legendary wolf, so be careful.

Travel to the western part of the Springs territory, where you will find a small circle of several rock formations. The cache with the treasure map is in the center pile of stones inside the circle.

The desired location from the second treasure map.

Third Map

This map leads to O’Creagh’s Run, which is north of the Three Sisters in the Grizzlies East region of Ambarino territory. To get there, head north from Emerald Ranch until you get to the hills. On a small island with rocks in the middle of the lake, under one of the rocks you can find Jack Hall’s treasure — two gold bars .

The desired location from the third treasure map.

High Stakes Treasure Map

You can start the High Expectations Treasure Hunt either during a random event on the map, or, if you miss it, by purchasing a treasure map from a stolen goods dealer.

First card

To find the first card, you must talk to an elderly treasure hunter who appears at a random moment. He is not eager to part with his card, so you will need to either rob him by putting a gun to his head, or kill or tie him, and then rummage through his pockets.

We had him here.

We were lucky to spot him on top of a high cliff northeast of Riggs Station. Despite this, he can spawn in other random locations between Valentine and Strawberry. After you get the map, you will need to find the first cache in Cumberland Falls, which is west of Valentine.

Approach the base of the falls on the west side, then go to the rocks on the south side of the falls. You will find that thanks to a fallen tree, you can get to the other side of the falls and climb over them. There will be a cache with the second treasure map.

The desired location from the first treasure map.

Second map

The second map will take you north to Grizzlies West. This cache with the following treasure map is located above the frozen water in the Barrow Lagoon area, between Isabel Lake and Widow’s Mountain.

Go down to the frozen lake and find the tree that connects the ice-shrouded island and the rocky shores of the lagoon. Search the bridge and on one of its nodes you will find a hidden treasure map.

The desired location from the second treasure map.

Third Map

The last treasure map will point to Fort Wallace. The right place is located on a large mountain range not far from the fort, to the northeast of it. Follow the path leading east along the front of the fort, then turn around to go up the hill at the back of the large stone face.

At the top there will be a path leading down between two high rocks. Follow it to the mountain below and turn left. Follow the ledge and then continue to follow the thin ramp going up (ahead). Crouch to get further.

Next, you will need to jump down, turn around and go down to the ledge even lower. Jump over to the next ledge and duck down to crawl under a small overhang. At the very end, treasures will be hidden inside the rock — three gold bars .

The desired location from the third treasure map.

The Poisonous Trail Treasure Map

The Poisonous Trail is a unique set of treasure maps. You cannot buy a starter card or learn from anyone about its location. Instead, you must find the first part of the map yourself, and then follow the clues on the following sketches.

Where to look for the first card.

First Map

To find the first map, go up West Grizzles, where the events of the first chapter took place, and head southeast of Colter, to the small lake Cairn Lake. Enter the Cairn Lake Lodge and look under the bed for a locked chest that you can search. Inside it lies the first treasure map.

The map shows a statue engraved on a rock with a path leading to some trees. This unusual place is located in the state of Lemoyne, north of Rhodes and Hill Haven Ranch, along the road to the Scarlett Meadows area.

Check out the rock face on the left side of the road as you drive northwest from Hill Haven Ranch. Take another look at the map and go straight from the rock face past the tree, then follow the slope down. Here you will find a withered tree trunk and a fallen log behind it. Behind a dry tree trunk, find a hole in the base and look inside it to find the second treasure map.

The desired location from the first treasure map.

Second map

Finding the second part of the treasure map near the mountain in Scarlett Meadows will give you a new clue. The map will show a serpentine formation and a mound of stones where the treasure is hidden. This site is located on the lower Roanoke Ridge in New Hanover, west of Van Horn Trading Post, on the road leading to the Camassa River.

Halfway along the road to the river behind the train tracks, head south up the slope to find an abandoned tower you can climb. Once at the top, look down the slope to see the image of the snake that Arthur will draw in his journal.

At the top of the hill is the rounded end of a snake with a hill in the middle. Climb the hill and look through the hole to find the next treasure map.

The desired location from the second treasure map.

Third Map

The last treasure map «Poison Path» that you found in the serpentine mountain formation indicates a secret cave in which the treasure is hidden. The map shows a waterfall with a passage behind it, and a secret tunnel on the right leads to a cache of treasure. Head north from the serpentine formation to the Elysian Pool in the central part of Roanoke Ridge in New Hanover.

In the northern part of the reservoir with an empty river you will find a large waterfall. Jump off your horse and go through the waterfall to find the secret place. It will be a huge cave. As you move deeper into it, ignore the rest of the cave and look down to the right and down the first large corridor to find a slight slope to the pit.

At the bottom of the pit, you need to explore the wall on the right side in order to get to a new area through a small hole. In the next part there will be a fork with two routes. If you look at the map, you will understand that here you need to turn right. There is also a small campsite nearby with a crate and valuables.

The desired location from the third treasure map.

Go past the campsite to get to the ledge. Using the flashlight, examine the left side of the cave to find a hole. There is a ledge at the bottom left, and Arthur needs to go down to it. Run ahead to get the speed you need. From there, you can safely jump down.

After landing, take a look at the lower ledge, find a long slope on the other side and find yourself at the bottom, in a dead end with water and a pile of stones on the left side. Climb up and examine the heap of stones to finally find the treasure — four gold bars . They can be sold to a buyer of stolen goods for $2000 each!

Le Tresor Des Morts Bonus Treasure Map (Exclusive to Special or Deluxe Edition)

Map One: Head to the burned city southwest of the Horseshoe Highlands. Inside the stone formation, you can find the first map.

Location of desired points.

Second Map: The first treasure map points to a location in Saint-Denis. Head to the docks and find the passage that connects the Cornish Freight Station and the harbour. Examine the wall near the lone crate to get the next card.

Treasure location: The second treasure map indicates the location of the treasure. It is located in the same Saint-Denis. Head to the large graveyard, find the large crypt with the cathedral window to the west of the central part of the graveyard. Examine the wall to find gold bars — five pieces worth a total of $2500 .

Torn Treasure Map (Stitched Treasure Map)

How to get : The first two parts of the map can be obtained after the beginning of the second chapter. However, the treasure can only be found after that. How do you get to the epilogue of the game. Thus, to begin with, you need to complete the Arthur Morgan main storyline.

Reward : Otis Miller’s revolver and five erotic pictures.

First Map : On the far left of the map, at the head of Little Creek, find a wooden hut and search the box located inside.

Second card : upper right side of the card, inside the crate in the house called Manito Glade. After you collect the second part of the map, it will turn into a «stitched treasure map», consisting of two parts.

Caves.

Treasure location: You are interested in New Austin territory, the southern half of the map. You can only go here after you get to the epilogue of the story. Head west from the Twin Rocks and inside a tiny cave. Yes, you will not find gold bars, but you will get Otis revolver and five erotic pictures . All this is necessary for 100% completion of the game.

Chick’s Treasure Map

Chica’s treasure map is one of the first things players will encounter. Even though the map shows the right place, some gamers may encounter problems when trying to find it. You can get this card from Chick Matthews, a character who made the mistake of agreeing to borrow money from Dutch van der Linde. In Chapter 2, players can take the quest «Usury and Other Sins» given by Leopold Strauss. One of the debtors that Arthur will face will be the same Chick Matthews. You will have to catch up with him on a horse, and then conduct an interrogation.

The man will give Arthur a map that leads to a location nearby, east of Valentine. Upon arrival there, you will have to search a large tree. There is a hole on its north side. When examining it in a tree trunk, Arthur must find a bunch of money that is needed to pay off Chick’s debt.

Desired location.

Compared to other treasure maps in Red Dead Redemption 2, this one is easy to deal with. The only hard part is finding the right tree, which is quite tricky since the players are sent to the forest area.

The reward for completing the quest with Chika’s treasure map is a continuation of the storyline, and nothing more.

Map Sketch

This treasure map can be found in a small hut north of Annesberg. Go inside, examine the chimney and take the map.

Head southwest from Annesberg to Elisian Pool. Climb up and find a tree on which a «cross» is carved. You are interested in the second stone if you move away from the tree. Pick up a small boulder and collect gold bar .

Killer’s Hint Card

How to get : available starting from Chapter 2.

Reward : $20 and the Stranger’s «American Dreams» quest.

The killer’s mystery isn’t technically a treasure hunt, but it will lead you to a secret stranger with the American Dreams side quest.

Solving the Killer’s Puzzle : After finding all the murder locations, you can go to the killer’s lair, which is a requirement for this quest.

Map Locations :

• The first part of the map is located east of the Braithwaite mansion. Pay attention to the inscription on the Scarlett Meadows map. You are interested in the letter S in the second word (the last one). Look for a new piece in the head on the other side of the big tree.

• Head southeast from Valentine and find the railway bridge. The head with the new scroll is in the wooden support of this bridge.

• The third and final piece lies on a rock south of Wallace Station.

When you have collected all the fragments, you can put them together and find out where the killer is.

Derailed Train Treasure

In addition to treasure maps, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a few other side events that allow you to settle in with gold bars or other rewards. Several gold bars can be found inside a derailed train located south of Cotorra Springs. The exact location of the train is shown in the screenshot below. Upon arriving there, players will be able to explore the wagons and collect a variety of valuable items, including cash and decorations. However, the real treasure is hidden in an upright locomotive, which can be accessed via a nearby cliff.

Location of the train.

Climb up the mountain where the vertical wagon is located, and then follow the path on the right to reach a higher cliff. Accelerate and jump over the gap to reach the ledges next to the entrance to the car. Climb through the hole inside and climb down the locomotive to find two gold bars and some booze. Each bar can be traded to the Fence Fence for $500.

Caches in farmsteads

Next, we would like to talk about the houses, inside which are hidden caches with money, treasures and unique weapons. We will talk about five of them, but for a 100% completion of the game, you only need to collect loot in four.

Chaz Porter

Location of the house.

Chaz Porter’s homestead is located near Widow Rock, in the southern part of Ambarino. On the estate you need to find a barn. This can be done in two ways: if you make some noise, you will have to kill all the enemies, but if you manage to silently kill the nearest enemy, then get rid of the need to fight with everyone. Climb up the stairs to the shed and go upstairs. There will be a box with a bag of jewelry and two bags, each containing $50.

Aberdeen Pig Farm

Location of the house.

Aberdeen Pig Farm Estate is located near the Camassa River in southern New Hanover. To get to the treasure hidden in the manor, you first need to talk to the man sitting on the porch. He will invite you to dinner. Go inside to open the window. The box you need is on the left side of the house. Inside are $40.

Van Horn Mansion

The location of the house.

Van Horn Manor is located north of the town of the same name. On the farm, you must find a basement with a group of people having fun. You have to kill each one of them. Also here you can find a sleeping man. When you try to take his money, he will wake up. Therefore, it would be better to kill him in advance, silently, and after that take the money.

Jackson Farm

Location of the house.

The Jackson Farm is next to the Braithwaite Mansion, south of Rhodes. The first thing to do is to be on the territory of the estate — to kill the man threatening you. The next step is to intimidate the other person. He will tell you where to look for the treasure. Inside the fireplace are $50.

Watson’s Hut

Location of the house.

Watson’s cabin is located near Little Creek, north of Big Valley. There you will find an old woman. She will not attack Arthur. You can safely go around it and go down to the basement. There is a semi-automatic rifle in there. If you take it, Arthur’s reputation will suffer slightly.
