Red Dead Redemption 3 Is Already More Exciting Than GTA 6
By
Devin Friend
Grand Theft Auto 6 is already a highly anticipated release, but Red Dead Redemption 3 is the game that people should really be looking forward to.
Even though Red Dead Redemption 3 is still a complete mystery, it already feels more exciting than Grand Theft Auto 6. GTA 6 has been getting a lot of coverage due to a combination of reports and leaks, while Red Dead Redemption 3 is so far off that it hasn’t even been confirmed yet. Even so, there are still a lot of reasons to be excited for RDR3, especially when looking at the leap in quality between recent GTA games and Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption series.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the biggest names in the news as far as gaming is concerned at the moment, despite its release not being expected until 2024. The slow trickle of information has been analyzed meticulously, from the rumored return to Vice City to the new protagonists. In comparison, Red Dead Redemption 3 does not exist at all aside from speculation. While RDR2‘s success guarantees Red Dead Redemption 3 will happen, Rockstar has remained largely silent on the subject, as focus remains on GTA 6.

Red Dead Redemption 3 Deserves More Hype Than GTA 6
Ironically, the focus on Grand Theft Auto 6 could be one of the things that makes it less exciting than Red Dead Redemption 3. The leaked protagonists, specifically the series’ first female protagonist Lucia, are already common knowledge among GTA‘s fans. By the time the game comes out, people may potentially be burned out by all the hype and feel like they already know what to expect from the game from both a gameplay and story point of view. Granted, a lot of the available information about GTA 6 has come from leaked videos, and Rockstar can’t really be blamed for that. Even so, RDR3 remaining a mystery has kept it intriguing, as it’s more of an unknown.
Another point in Red Dead Redemption 3‘s favor is the series’ overall quality. When Red Dead Redemption came out, it was a vast improvement over the previously released Grand Theft Auto 4. Likewise, RDR2 was better than GTA 5. If the pattern continues, that means that Red Dead Redemption 3 has a good chance of being better than GTA 6 whenever those two games come out. While there are a lot of ways that GTA 6 could improve over its predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2 was so well-received even to this day that in order to make Red Dead Redemption 3‘s gameplay better than RDR2, the game only needs a few extra tweaks and additions due to how complete a package RDR2 was already.
Red Dead Redemption games having a more connected story is another thing that makes RDR3 more enticing than GTA 6. With few exceptions, most GTA games are standalone adventures, with only a few possible cameos or examples or continuity. Conversely, Red Dead Redemption 2 filled out gaps from RDR while telling its own full story. The fact that RDR2 left potential plot threads that could be followed up on, such as Sadie’s bounty hunting and Charles going north, is also exciting, never mind the fact that there’s also potential to venture further into the past with another prequel. Many fans would be interested to see if Jack Marston avoids his father’s fate in RDR3, and it’s very possible that game could follow up on his story.
While Grand Theft Auto 6 is a popular topic, RDR3 is the game that’s really worth getting excited for. While it’s still years away, the RDR franchise has been of such consistently high quality that it will almost definitely be excellent. Red Dead Redemption 3 is already a game worth hyping up, even if its official unveiling is still probably years away.

Synopsis
Ash Williams, a chainsaw attached to his wrist and a pistol in his other hand, travels back in time in 1300 via a time-space portal. He is captured by Lord Arthur’s men, who suspect him of being Duke Henry’s agent, with whom Arthur is at war. Along with Henry, who has also been captured, Ash is sent to the castle. He is then thrown into a pit where he kills the undead and takes the weapons confiscated from him. After demanding the release of Henry and his men and killing the undead in front of the populace, Ash is celebrated as a hero. He is increasingly drawn to Sheila, the sister of one of Arthur’s fallen knights.
According to the alchemist Arthur, the only way for Ash to return to his own time is to find Necronomicon , the grimoire at the heart of his misfortunes. Ash then goes looking for him. As he enters the haunted forest, an unseen force pursues him towards the windmill. Ash crashes into the mirror and its small reflections come to life in the mirror’s explosions (Minis Ash, Tiny Ash VO ). One of them becomes a life-size clone, but Ash kills and buries it.
When he reaches Necronomicon , he finds three books instead of one and must determine which one is the real one. While trying to say the phrase that will allow him to safely take out the book — «Klaatu barada nobody» — he forgets the last word and unsuccessfully tries to mutter and cough «no one». However, he grabs the book and flees as the dead and his evil doppelgänger are resurrected, uniting as the Army of Darkness.
Upon his return, Ash demands to be returned to his own time. However, Sheila is captured by the flying undead and transforms herself. Ash then decides to lead the people against the Army of Darkness. People are reluctant to agree to this. Using the knowledge from the textbooks found in his Oldsmobile Delta 88 and with the help of Duke Henry, Ash successfully leads his troops to victory over his evil counterpart’s army, saving Sheila and bringing peace between Arthur and Henry. The alchemist brings him back to his own time by giving him a potion after saying the phrase.
Currently, Ash, who works in a large retail store, is telling his story to a colleague. During a conversation with a young girl who is interested in his story, the undead, who may have traveled to the present due to Ash forgetting his last word, attack the customers. Ash kills him with a rifle on display in the store, eliminating the threat.

Production
Genesis and development
The idea to send Ash to the Middle Ages was supposed to be the main plot 2- th, but the idea was abandoned to cut the budget. Sam Raimi wanted to call this third movie Medieval Dead . Universal Pictures. The name Army of Darkness was coined by Irwin Shapiro, who was involved in the making of the first two films (1987) and died in 1989. Sam Raimi then wants to name the film The Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness , but the studio wants an independent title from the other films in the series, and then the film is called Army of Darkness . However, in the UK it will be released as Army of Darkness: The Medieval Dead .
Distribution of roles
Bridget Fonda is replaced by Denise Bixler as Linda, Ash’s girlfriend who appears in a flashback.

Comments
The film is much lighter in tone than its two predecessors, plays with burlesque and is less gory.
“Most of the gags of Army of Darkness work on the gap between Ash, a human in the XX — th century, and the medieval environment in which she operates. Ash is a man who has never fought for a just cause until now. He will have to do this in order to uphold the codes of his new allies. More than technique, special effects and script, I was most interested in Ash. Often opens a large mouth, frightened. He lies shamelessly, but sometimes shows a certain humility, but only in the last five minutes. In short, Ash is not the hero we know by the thousands; he drools as much as possible for the delight of the audience. The more he gets hit, the more he martyrs, the more he goes through crazy trials and the more he is loved by the public. Ash offers himself as food to the audience, which is kind of a noble attitude. »
An alternate ending preferred by director Sam Raimi shows Ash ending up in a post-apocalyptic world after ingesting a magic potion. In addition, there are several versions of montage (American film version, European version, director’s cut and American television version). Some versions contain additional or extended scenes, and sometimes in a different order.
Around the movie
- Magazine issue Fangoria can be seen in Ash’s Oldsmobile.
- The magic words Ash must use to summon the Necronomicon, is « Klatto, Verata, Nikto «, a reference to « Klaatu, Barada, Nikto «, commanded by the robot Gort in Robert Wise’s movie » The Day the Earth Stood Still » (1951).
- In one of the early versions of the script, Ash must have lost an eye.
- Many video game character lines Duke Nukem borrowed from Ash Williams from Evil Dead 2 and 3 .
