Good afternoon Quakers. We have actually had 2 PTS updates over the past few days that we are only now getting around to. PTS Patch notes will be below. The most notable editions actually came from the 09-30-2022 PTS update. Those being Crucible Arena has been added in Blockout style, Quake 3 Grenade Launcher Tri-Bolt & Quake 4 Grenade Launcher Tri-Bolt skins.

As an additional set of notes syncerror is giving Ranger Pure Gold Texture updates upon request. You’ll have to message syncerror on the Quake Discord to do this. Also more content is now expected to be added to the Pure Gold Bundle over time. I currently can’t find similar wording for the Pure Silver Bundle, but if this is all over time perhaps its just happening on a later PTS update down the rode. Crucible will appear in Blockout form. It will look tonally gray with little color outside the weapons & pickups available, and some lava spots. Blockout is typically the process of getting the geometry down where the “Player” can go. Once finalized the artists will then Texture the Arena with what we know it to be as a final product, or completed arena in this case. As the Arena is part of the Dimension of the Doomed (Goroth Elder God) we “may” have an idea of how its final product can look.

Known Crucible Issues:

🗒️ The map isn’t textured. 🙂

🗒️ The pre/post game podiums aren’t well lit

🗒️ Peeker can shoot through some outer walls if you fly around corners. Solution — don’t.

🗒️ The trigger doesn’t work on the backside of the angled jumppad

🗒️ The lava trigger is too sensitive near the lower light armor

🗒️ The LG Teleporter if dropped into from the window or if you jump into the upper portion of the TP, will exit from a higher than expected point and you’ll miss the jump across to LG

🗒️ Getting out of the RG lava pool might be too difficult & punishing (you need to jump out not step out)

🗒️ Bots, while supported, do not work well yet, and cannot make certain jumps at this time

QUAKE CHAMIONS PTS

The PTS is a Public Test Server that many games come with. It is completely optional to be part of the PTS, and does require an additional download to take part of. The purpose of the PTS for us as Quake players is it allows us to preview upcoming skins, arenas, and gameplay changes in general before they are added to the Live Game servers. It also doubles as bug testing. In fact all bugs, or issues in the PTS should be put in the official discord in the “public-test-server” channel. If you can you should try and find a buddy to test with. Two heads are better than one. You can find people to party with in the “party-finder” channel.

If you want to access, or rather download the PTS you can do this on the Steam client quite easily. Just to note though like other PTS downloads you are usually downloading the entire game plus the new additions, or changes. The PTS download for Quake Champions is currently just over 30 Gigabytes. Keep that in mind if you want to participate. Things that you accomplish in the PTS version DO NOT transfer over to the main game. That said you can also demo stuff in the PTS that you may not own yet in the main game.

Lastly, the PTS is not a representation of what will hit the Live servers at any time. As the values can be changed | reverted, or removed at any point during the PTS update period.

*When first launching the PTS your game may “compile” for a few minutes. Do not worry as this is completely normal.

According to a number of media reports, the Russian athlete failed a doping test, his sample gave a positive result for furosemide. News.ru journalists were the first to write about this, citing their sources in the leadership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF), later Match TV and Sport-Express insiders disseminated the same information.

“Shubenkov was caught doping. To pay off some of the doping he used, he took furosemide, a cover drug that lubricates the effect of a prohibited drug. Oleg Matytsin went to Shubenkov in Barnaul to discuss this issue. There is no one to compete in athletics, ”News. ru writes.

Indeed, the Minister of Sports is due to arrive in Barnaul, where the Russian athlete lives, but his visit will primarily be connected with the Siberian Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from 28 to 31 January. Matytsin will also visit the Barnaul rowing canal, which is now being prepared for the stage of the World Cup in kayaking and canoeing. However, in connection with the latest news, it is possible that the minister will also meet with Shubenkov.

The Russian Athletics Federation did not comment on the information about the possible failed doping test of the Russian runner, specifying that the agency did not receive any official data from the doping officers. At the same time, according to sources, Margarita Pakhnotskaya, who is an expert of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) on the issue of restoring the status of the ARAF, has already turned to the head of the working group on the rehabilitation of the domestic department, Rune Andersen.

Shubenkov himself does not comment on doping news. His coach Sergei Klevtsov said that the data on the use of banned substances by his ward are not true.

“I have nothing to say. I don’t know anything. Let the one who distributes this information tell himself where he got it from, ”RBC-Sport quotes the mentor Shubenkov.

As for furosemide, a drug allegedly found in the body of an athlete, it is not inherently doping, but the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code still prohibits use. Furosemide itself has been illegally used by athletes in professional sports for a long time and quite regularly. Firstly, this drug helps athletes control and lose weight, so often traces of it are found in the body of gymnasts and figure skaters. Secondly, furosemide is used to cover up traces of doping by removing prohibited substances (for example, hormonal drugs and even erythropoietin) from the body. Recently, however, the technologies of doping agencies make it easy to detect furosemide itself, whose traces remain in the body for a long period of time.

Athletes are usually banned from one to four years for using this drug. So far, Shubenkov is not included in the list of temporarily suspended athletes of the independent disciplinary body Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). Theoretically, if his first doping test really gave a positive result, the athlete can still avoid punishment.

To do this, he needs to request an autopsy of the «B» sample, which may be negative. This will happen if, firstly, the presence of furosemide in the body is minimal, and secondly, if the athlete proves that the substance came to him by chance in connection with the use of sports nutrition products.

“You can run from doping control, but you can’t run far anyway. Anyone who does dope will be caught. Today, technologies are such that illegal drugs in the body can be detected for a long time, ”the athlete himself said earlier.

Sergei Shubenkov is one of the best Russian athletes, and in the 110-meter hurdles he is the country’s record holder. In his career, he won many victories at national championships, became the European champion three times (once in indoor competitions), and in 2015 won the gold of the world championship in Beijing. Shubenkov also won silver medals at the world championships twice, but already as a neutral athlete after the ARAF was stripped of compliance status in November 2015 on charges of doping fraud. Shubenkov’s last tournament so far is the Russian team championship, which was held in September 2020 in Sochi. There, the eminent runner won, after which he announced that he was «going on a big vacation.»
