PS Plus
PS Plus’ August 2022 free games will once again bring at least three games for Essential subscribers and a whole additional library of additions for those who are subscribed to Extra or Premium. So, as we have seen in the past, you can expect a pretty stacked month for all subscribers, even if the PS Plus Extra and Premium games list is already pretty enticing.
As we saw in July, Sony will bring two games to PS Plus Essential and also offer one of its Extra or Premium games to Essential subscribers for the month. This means everyone will get three games, despite Sony previously saying they would be cut to two.
This article will cover what we know about the PS Plus August 2022 free games, so you can find your favourite and plan which one you will play first!
PS PLus August 2022 Free Games
The PS Plus August 2022 free games have been announced and are as follows:
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 – PS5, PS4
- Yakuza: Like A Dragon – PS5, PS4
- Little Nightmares – PS4
All three games will be available from August 2, 2022, for essential subscribers and up! This lineup was actually leaked ahead of time online.
PS Plus August 2022 Predictions
You can find our three PS Plus August 2022 free games predictions for the Essential tier below:
- Hot Wheels Unleashed – PS5, PS4
- Paper Beast – PS4
- Observer System Redux – PS5, PS4
Hot Wheels Unleashed – Essential (PS5, PS4)
Hot Wheels Unleashed is a great racing game that flew under the radar last year and we think a PS Plus launch could really give it the boost it needs!
With tons of different miniature cars and unique and crazy tracks, the game is packed with racing fun and has a suite of modes for everyone, from competitive online to a career mode.
Paper Beast – Essential (PS4)
Paper Beast is a much more serene and calming adventure than our other two games in our predictions so far.
You wander a gorgeous, unique planet and explore, solving puzzles and using the mysterious paper creatures that roam the land to help you on your journey.
Observer System Redux – Essential (PS5, PS4)
Finally, Observer System Redux brings your adrenaline levels right back up with its scares and spooky future cityscape.
Remastered for both PS5 and PS4, the game comes with a suite of visual upgrades and enhancements and on PS5 brings DualSense support and full 3D audio. This is also the game on our predictions that is currently available for Extra and Premium subscribers and we think will be handed out to Essential subscribers as well!
So, that covers our predictions and the PS Plus August 2022 free games. For more on PS5 games to play, check out some of the best PS5 games available on Sony’s latest console.
The PS Plus Free Games for September 2022 Announcement Could Be Extra Special
By
Joshua Duckworth
Sony is expected to announce the PS Plus free games for September 2022 soon, but it’s possible this reveal is accompanied by something special.
As August 2022 comes to an end, many PS Plus fans are eager to see what comes next. Sony is expected to reveal the PS Plus free games for September 2022 on August 31, release them on September 6, and follow up with the Extra and Premium games in the weeks thereafter.
However, based on other rumors, it’s possible that the upcoming PS Plus announcement isn’t just a simple new games reveal. September is typically a big month for PlayStation, and it would be wise to leverage the hype around PS Plus with the hype of another reveal.

Sony has hosted a PlayStation Showcase every September over the past few years, with recent rumors suggesting the next PS Showcase will take place on September 8. Sony’s announcements are hard to track, but there’s little reason this Showcase couldn’t be announced on August 31. State of Plays are typically announced at the start of the week they take place, with this also happening once with a PS Showcase. At the same time, some State of Plays and at least one PS Showcase were announced a full week ahead of time. With this rumored PS Showcase likely showing God of War Ragnarok, a week of hype would be good for the reveal.
In the past, Sony has withheld, delayed, or otherwise changed its typical PS Plus reveal pattern to coincide with something else. PS Plus announcements have been delayed to appear at a bigger event before, as an example. That’s unlikely to happen here since the PS Plus September 2022 release date is 2 days before the rumored event, but releasing a PS Blog with a focus on the September 2022 free games, potentially another announcement or two (as it did with the Yakuza games for PS Plus), and a final line going, «oh hey, join us on September 8 for our PS Showcase» would be incredibly hype inducing.
It would keep a lot of attention on Sony for the next week or so going into the event, and it’s also noteworthy that Sony likes to stand out. This is one reason it pulled out of E3 even before the pandemic began. There are a lot of events lined up for September, including the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase on September 9 and Ubisoft Forward on September 10, and if the PlayStation Showcase happens on September 8, this would be a good way to keep fans hyped for and focused on the event. It would stand out and overshadow the others if it revealed all of its major announcements for September in one package, so while it remains to be seen, it stands to reason August 31 will be a big day for PS Plus subscribers.
PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.

Daeron why not just
play it for your own pleasure, without aiming at
platinum?
This is for normal people.
Only Metro Exodus is interesting.
It remains only to try to become a Turkish citizen.
Passed the entire series of Yakuza numbered parts in a year, the last one was
Like a Dragon in the July Sale and Hello
Other than Trials of Mana, nothing interesting. Weakly Sony its service
supervises, will be bent quickly with such support. Besides, the people
dissatisfied that they do not add games from ps1-ps2-ps3 (via stream) and psp,
although advertised as the main feature. In fact, it’s empty. To
there were no claims of bias, he himself has a deluxe subscription to

which I would not buy and so I will play. Poor.
P.S. The yakuza are on the disks, so the distribution is by.

SKID , it’s hard to say no for a year.
NightSoul , taking into account the cost of a subscription with a library of games,

PS Plus has been like this so far, I think the progress is obvious.
Every month, 10+ games are added instead of two, this is in addition to
game library — yes, give me that PS Plus upgrade. It’s clear,
that this month a bunch of numbered games from not the most
common and valuable series, but earlier it would have been added simply
one game of them. In general, compared to what it was — I think
it’s a sin to complain. But this is just my opinion. And so, of course,
there is always something to strive for.
There is the same thing, but just what and when will be removed from
subscription games catalog?
Are PS1-PS2 classics added to these subscriptions? For once something
added? Or Sony as always crap?
HaRJIeY_DaViDsOn , well, they added it last month.
For me, a normal distribution. There will be something to play.
