PS4 Slim vs. PS4 Pro — Die Unterschiede

PlayStation 4 Handbook. Revisions and Differences
This content has been written by a site visitor and has been rewarded.
It was in the evening. There was nothing to do. PlayStation 4 consoles are divided into three chassis. visually different from each other. FAT version, Slim version, Pro version. FAT and Slim have the same performance, Pro displays the image in higher resolution.
FAT — the first series of PlayStation 4 consoles
The main feature is the use of 28nm process technology in the manufacture of processor chips. There are several revisions
Recommendations
CUH 1016A The first audit of FAT at 500 GB was sold until 2015
CUH 1016B The first audit of FAT per 1000 GB (possibly myth)
CUH 1116a Second Fata Fata for 500 SALE SALE BA 2016

CUH 1216A The third audit of FAT at 500 GB was sold until 2017
CUH 1216b FAT for 1000 GB
Don’t get away with these console versions. They are too old and there is a great risk of running into a «problem console». If the seller is not your personal friend and you are not 200% sure of him, then it does not matter what the price is. It will always be higher than the real value
You can see a clear pattern from the names. The model number encodes the characteristics of the consoles.
The first digit (1) stands for Chassis (in our case FAT). The second digit means revision (in our case 1, 2, 3) The third and fourth digits mean the region of sale. There are a huge number of them. In Russia and the CIS countries, 08 or 16 are most common. The letter at the end means the size of the hard drive. (A) — 500GB (B) — 1000GB. I heard about the existence of a console with 2000GB and the designation (C), but I haven’t seen it live.
Slim is the second series of PlayStation 4 consoles.
The console has become 30% smaller. Eats less electricity. The chip’s manufacturing process has moved from 28nm to 14nm. There are mentions of improving wireless interfaces (Wifi began to support 5Hz and bluetooth was updated from 2.1 to 4.0) All revisions are quiet and have high reliability. If the owner did not get inside with playful hands, and dust clouds did not fly around, any version can be considered for purchase.

there are no visual differences between the version. There are different shades of black, but you can’t tell them apart without a direct comparison. In terms of reliability, all versions are plus or minus the same.
Pro is the third series of PlayStation 4 consoles.
The main feature is the use of 14 nm process technology in the manufacture of the processor. The video block consists of two mirror chips from the Slim version. In unoptimized older designs, only half of the chip works. The console in this case works silently. An interesting feature of the Pro version is the use of a SATA3 connector, instead of SATA2 for Slim and FAT. This feature makes it relevant to install an SSD drive instead of a standard one, and an increase in game downloads is possible. If you are thinking about buying an older version, I will immediately warn you — think 10 times. The console is hot and extremely noisy. Out of about 30 consoles that have passed through my hands, only 4 were relatively quiet. It is comfortable to play with headphones during the day. But to play before going to bed in silence … the roar of the «Boeing Takeoff» will not drown out anything. Many owners open the consoles, change the thermal paste and upgrade the pressure plate. This creates a problem. Breaking the warranty seal may indicate either chip reballing or normal maintenance.
CUH 7016B The first Avision Pro for 1000 GB was sold until 2017

CUH Third revision of Pro for 10005 9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 can be identified by the power connector. The third revision has a two-pin connector like the slim one. The first and second revisions have a connector like the power supplies of desktop computers
Where to see the revision of the console
A sticker with an audit number is located near the power connector
What is this information needed for? To know what you buy at a flea market. According to the revision, you can find out not only the year of release of the console, but also avoid scammers who write «I bought everything fine last year. » A newer revision means not only an improved design, but also fixed bugs in earlier versions. Less time in operation. Longer service life in your hands. No need for dust cleaning. Another difference is the assembly plant. It is known about the Japanese assembly and Chinese. I didn’t see the first ones live, but I saw numerous photos. Rumor has it that they are more reliable (in particular, the first revision of the Pro does not have a defect with the cooling system).
As a result, try to avoid buying all FAT versions of consoles and the first revision of the Pro version.

The difference between PS4 and PS4 Pro
Good day, gamers! Remember, somehow we already compared the PRO version of the set-top box with the nextgen. Let’s now see what is the difference between PS4 and PS4 Pro.
Slim and Pro revisions came out at the same time.
If Slim differs from the usual Fat, by and large, only in design. Then with PROshka she is no longer a competitor.
We will sort out all the differences. It’s up to you to decide what you choose.0135
Difference in performance
The most important difference between the Slim and Pro revisions is in the hardware. And to be more precise, the performance of the Pro version is about 2 times better.
This is determined by the following parameters:
- The video card was upgraded from 1.8 to 4.2 Teraflops.
- Although the processor is the same, but in PRO it has a clock frequency of 2.1 versus 1.6.
- Among other things, an additional gigabyte has appeared in the RAM.
The GPU has also been changed. It has become twice as powerful, while the frequency has risen from 800 to 900 MHz.
What was the impact of these changes?
First, the loading screens are much shorter.
Secondly, many modern games run much better on the Pro. They sag less in FPS and slow down.
And thirdly, all this was done so that the set-top box could pull up modern graphics.
Image quality
Due to the improvement of hardware, PROshka has acquired a number of graphical capabilities.
Instead of the old 1080p resolution, you can now enjoy 4K pictures. True, at a stable 30 frames / sec. But at Full HD resolution, any game with 60 fps now runs without problems.
Any PS4 Pro owner can choose whether to look at a beautiful 4K picture or vote on performance.
True, if the game had such settings.
Dimensions and design
Due to the fact that more powerful hardware was put into the Playstation 4 Pro, the case had to be changed. Externally, PROshka looks thicker by a whole block.
If we compare the dimensions, then Slim is 3 cm smaller in width and length, and 1.5 cm thinner.
Accordingly, it weighs 1.2 kg lighter than its powerful sister. usb and other pleasant things
Proshka was supplied with pleasant trifles. She got 1 more usb-connector. HDMI changed protocol from 1.6 to 2.0.
Bluetooth connection has protocol 4.0. And this allows you to better connect with wireless devices.
The Wi-Fi connector has also been improved. Problems with network breaks have become much less. Increased app download speed. Particularly important for AAA projects that were cramming huge amounts on disk.
Features for VR
Improved performance of PS4 Pro allows it to run VR projects. This is already a plus for those who wanted to try virtual reality.
A kind of icing on the cake among other console bonuses.
Slim does not have this possibility due to weaker hardware. Keep this in mind if you’re still aiming to buy this generation of consoles. The difference was seven thousand. Now Pro also costs more than its sister, but with a smaller difference.
And the prices went down after the PS5 was released. If earlier Pro cost well over 30, now you can buy it for 25-26 thousand. And Slim costs five thousand less.
Unfortunately, both versions are now hard to find from official distributors. They are only available at flea markets or through repurchases. What to buy depends on your preferences. PROshka is chosen in the following cases:
- If you want to enjoy the picture in 4K;
- Worried about game download times;
- They are going to play VR games.
For everything else, the Slim version will suffice. Plus, it’s lighter, takes up less space, and is cheaper.
Thank you for reading the material to the end.
