Ps plus oktober 2022: PlayStation Plus Free Games For October 2022 Are Available Now

PS Plus Free Games for October 2022 Available Now

By
Joshua Duckworth

Sony releases the PS Plus free games for October 2022, which sees fans get three games in most regions and some fans get five games.

Sony releases the PS Plus free games for October 2022, which means those who pushed off claiming Need for Speed Heat, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and TOEM as the PS Plus free games for September 2022 have officially missed the window. Of course, new games replace those in the same cadence they do every month.

Sony has a pattern of revealing the new PS Plus games on the last Wednesday before the first Tuesday of their month, with them releasing on that Tuesday. Now, for the PS Plus free games for October 2022, fans can claim Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and Superhot.

Hot Wheels Unleashed lets players collect vehicles set in their universe, build tracks altogether, and engage in races as engaging as September’s Need for Speed Heat. Meanwhile, Injustice 2 is a DC fighting game developed by the expertise of NetherRealm Studios (the developer of Mortal Kombat, for anyone unfamiliar), and Superhot is a game where players must manipulate time to battle through various foes. Every PS Plus subscriber the world over can claim these games, but those in Asian regions have two more games they can also claim.

  • Hot Wheels Unleashed — PS5, PS4 (All Regions)
  • Injustice 2 — PS4 (All Regions)
  • Superhot — PS4 (All Regions)
  • Rogue Explorer — PS4, PS5 (Asian Regions)
  • Crisis Wing — PS4, PS5 (Asian Regions)

PS Plus subscribers in Asia can get Rogue Explorer, a hack and slash roguelike game, as well as vertical shoot ’em up Crisis Wing. Both of these games are native to PS5 and PS4 systems, while Hot Wheels Unleashed is the only native PS5 title available in every region. Of course, all of these games are playable via backward compatibility, so any PS5 owners will be able to check out all of these titles.

Fans will have through October 31 these titles, with the next selection becoming available on November 1. Before then, of course, Sony is expected to reveal and release the PS Plus Extra and Premium titles for October 2022. The pattern isn’t as defined quite yet, but fans can expect this release around the week of October 17. As to what the games are, that’s anyone’s guess, but there’s certainly a case to be made for some horror games on PS Plus Extra and Premium to celebrate the Halloween season, since the free games drop the ball here.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of free games every month.

What’s coming to PlayStation Plus in December 2022? From Mass Effect to Biomutant

S

ony has revealed the three games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in December 2022, rounding off the year nicely.

Arriving on Tuesday, December 6, the games will certainly keep you busy, with the remastered Mass Effect trilogy, madcap open-worlder Biomutant, and day-one release DKO Divine Knockout.

In order of average score on Metacritic, these are the games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Ps Plus December 2022 — Mass Effect Legendary Edition

/ Bioware

Mass Effect is a game that should need very little introduction. One of the greatest action RPGs of all time, the Legendary Edition bundles the original trilogy together in glorious 4K, along with more than 40 pieces of DLC to enjoy. It’s a rich space opera, packed with memorable characters and a science-fiction story that’ll stick with you long after the closing credits have rolled.

The original Mass Effect feels a tiny bit dated now — unsurprisingly, given it was released 15 years ago — but it’s still a sensible starting point, because decisions you make in the games echo through their sequels. And selecting what you would have done via a checklist (which it does without a saved game to consult) just isn’t the same.

Biomutant

Ps Plus December 2022 — Biomutant

/ Experiment 101

Biomutant divided opinion when it was released last year, as the 64 per cent average on Metacritic shows. It’s nothing if not ambitious, though: an open-world kung-fu fable where you play a raccoon-like warrior in a post-apocalyptic world, battling other mutants while building your own weapons and recoding your DNA to change your play style. As with some of the best game stories, your decisions made on a whim can affect the storyline in dramatic ways further down the road.

While it may not have universally wowed the critics, there are enough interesting ideas here to make it worth a go, especially as it’s free to PlayStation Plus members in December.

DKO Divine Knockout

Ps Plus December 2022 — Divine Knockout

/ Red Beard Games

A new release coming to PS Plus on day one. That’s exciting but does mean that we have no idea how good (or not) it will be, with no reviews available at the time of writing.

What we can say is that it looks like a brawler in the vein of Super Smash Bros and Power Stone. You pick one of 10 gods and beat the hell out of the others in a 3D environment, and it really doesn’t look much more complex than that. This is probably just as well given the three Mass Effect games and Biomutant add up to at least 72 hours of gameplay between them…

Last chance: What was on PlayStation Plus Essential in November 2022?

New arrivals mean that November’s games are on their way out, and you have until Monday, December 5 to add them to your library. To recap, this is what’s leaving PlayStation Plus Essential:

Nioh 2

Nioh 2

/ Team Ninja

If you feel like a hardcore challenge, then Nioh 2 should definitely provide it. An action RPG set in 1500s Japan, this samurai adventure has a reputation for being as tough as nails, and should take you at least 45 hours to beat — and considerably more if you’re intent on seeing everything the game has to offer. Don’t worry if you haven’t played the first game: despite its name, Nioh 2 is a prequel.

If you’re playing on PS5, you’re actually getting the remastered version, which introduces either 4K visuals or 120fps gameplay on compatible TVs. But, even if you’re playing on PS4, you are guaranteed a great experience, with the game scoring an impressive 85 per cent on Metacritic.

Lego Harry Potter

Lego Harry Potter

/ TT Games

If that sounds a bit too much like hard work, then how about visiting Lego Hogwarts instead? The Lego Harry Potter Collection includes both of the series’ games from 2010 and 2011, remastered into a single generous package. You get all eight movies, retold in charming Lego form.

If you have never played a Lego game before, you’re in for a treat, even if these relatively early entries feel a touch basic by modern standards. The series doesn’t take itself too seriously but has a wonderful sense of humour, making it both accessible to children and entertaining for grown-ups looking for something a little less stressful than the Elden Rings of this world. Both games average 79 per cent on Metacritic.

Heavenly Bodies

Heavenly Bodies

/ 2pt Interactive

Completing the lineup of November PlayStation Plus games is Heavenly Bodies. It’s a fun little physics puzzler where you control the legs, arms, and hands of your astronaut’s body independently in low- or zero-gravity situations, making even the simplest task feel like your own personal Everest.

But that just makes completing a mission all the more satisfying, and you can share the (rather short) campaign with a friend via local co-op, if you like, too. It’s certainly not for everyone, but Heavenly Bodies is worth a go at the low, low price of free — and it gets a solid 75 per cent rating on Metacritic.

Want more games? Consider PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium

PlayStation Plus Essential (£6.99 per month) is the entry-level subscription service from Sony but, if you want more, there are two possible upgrades: Extra and Premium.

The next tier up, PlayStation Plus Extra (£10.99 per month), offers the same free games, cloud saves, and online multiplayer of the Essential tier, but adds access to the game catalogue. This includes access to a rolling collection of hundreds of games including, at the time of writing, the likes of Stray and Returnal.

Finally, there’s PlayStation Plus Premium (£13.49 per month). This includes all the benefits from the previous two tiers but adds in the classic catalogue, with games from previous generations of PlayStation, as well as extras like early-game trials and cloud-streamed titles.

List of new PS Plus games — PS+ Essential, Extra and Premium

PS Plus Extra and Premium will soon lose one of the most important survival horror games

The PS Plus Essential October deals have been available to service subscribers for a few days now, but Sony has quietly updated a subpage for one of the games, as well as announcing when it will be leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium.

This SOMA is one of the most famous horror games of the last few years, which takes players on a journey to a mysterious research facility where, as Simon Jarrett, they learn a story with references to religious and philosophical issues.

Until now, the PS4 version of SOMA (running on PS5 via backwards compatibility) has been available free of charge to the subscription. On October 18, 2022, it will be removed.

The game takes about five hours to complete, so there’s still time.

As a reminder, Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare will be removed from PS Plus Premium on October 17th.

Pocket Tarkov. Lost Light Review

Lost Light has gained fame as a mobile Escape from Tarkov, but this is not entirely true. NetEase, of course, peeped a lot from the hit from Battlestate Games, but the Chinese developers put a completely different hit — PUBG Mobile from Tencent — at the heart of the gameplay. The resulting remix of two well-known projects claims to be the best mobile shooter.
