Pokmon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

The Pok Radar makes its return in this game. This item is given by Professor Rowan after getting the National Pokdex and is a way of making a chain to get various rewards.

When you use it in a patch of grass, various other patches of grass will start shaking. When you go to the patch of grass and defeat the Pokmon, the chain will continue until either you run away from a Pokmon, you get a different Pokmon on the patch or the chain gets broken by another wild Pokmon appearing before you reach the patch of grass. To avoid the latter, be sure to use a Repel when making a Chain.

As the chain progresses, it gets more and more likely to break. You will get better odds going for the further grass patch, and if you capture the opposing Pokmon rather than just defeat it but only for the patches 4 away or more.

Patch of Grass Defeat Rate Capture Rate
Nearest 53% 63%
2nd Nearest 63% 73%
2nd Furthest 73% 83%
Furthest 83% 93%

There is also a Poktch app, the Chain Counter, which is obtained in Ramanas Park, which keeps track of your top 3 highest chains.

Bonuses

There are a few bonuses to using the Pok Radar. First is that in most areas, there’s a Pokmon that’s not found in the Sinnoh Pokdex available. Second is that each Pokmon in the chain has got a 1 in 128 chance of having their Hidden Ability. This rate cannot be improved. You can find these by the grass that they’re in shaking more vigorously than the standard.

Next is the IVs, as the chain progresses, you get more guaranteed maximum IVs. At present this only works at 20, 30 40 and 100 chains.

The PokRadar also has an increased Shiny Chance with each successful chain.

If grass patches shake after encounter, repeat step 5.
If no grass patches shake, walk 50 steps to recharge, then use again

The Poke Radar is the only way to encounter Pokemon not from the Sinnoh region or Shiny Pokemon on normal Sinnoh routes. You can only use it in the grass patches of these routes (the Poke Radar does not work in caves or while Surfing).

It is easier to start a chain if you have a Pokemon at the front of your party with a certain ability. Abilties like Static or Flash Fire will make it more likely for you to encounter either Electric or Fire type Pokemon respectively.

When you activate the Poke Radar from the Key Items pocket of your Bag, normally 4 patches of grass will shake. If less than 4 patches of grass shook, that means a square chosen randomly by the game to shake was not a grass patch.

To ensure you’re getting the most out of each use of the Poke Radar, stand in the middle of the grass area, so that the vicinity covered by the Poke Radar around you mostly consists of grass patches.

There are some grass patches where the Pokeradar cannot be used. Make sure the grass leaves are thick and dense before using the Pokeradar. You cannot use it in areas where the grass leaves are slim and wispy.

Normal grass shake

Stronger grass shake

Shiny grass shake

There will be 3 types of shaking grass identified by the Poke Radar. The first one is a normal rustle, which is more likely to lead to an encounter with just a normal Pokemon.

The second type of shake has larger blades of grass coming out of it. Walking into this type of shaking grass is more likely to lead to an encounter with a Pokemon that is a Poke Radar exclusive and that has a Hidden Ability.

The third and rarest type of grass has a shiny twinkle (✦) on it. Walking into this type of shaking grass gives the best chance of encountering Shiny Pokemon via the Poke Radar.

Walk into the shaking grass then capture or defeat the Pokemon. After the battle ends, up to 4 more patches of grass will start shaking automatically. Walk over to the next grass patch to trigger the next battle in the chain. If no grass patch shook immediately after, your chain broke and you’ll have to use the Poke Radar again.

If your next encounter is not of the same species, the chain ends. It’s recommended to bring Max Repels so you don’t accidentally encounter a wild Pokemon in a grass patch that isn’t shaking. It’s recommended to purchase 50 Max Repels from a Poke Mart before you start chaining. 40 = approx. 0.008%

To get the chain success rate, we tested 200 encounters and counted how many times the chain broke. Based on our findings, the success rate of a Pokeradar chain is lower in the remakes than in the original games. However, since the number of tests done is limited, we cannot say for certain the exact value, but it may be more difficult to achieve longer chains in the game.

You can use the Chain Counter App given by Professor Oak at Ramanas Park in order to keep track of your current Poke Radar chain. Your current Pokemon encounter and Poke Radar chain length are shown at the top, while your top 3 longest Poke Radar chains are shown on pedestals at the bottom.

Poke Radar Shiny Chaining is the process of increasing your odds of encountering Shiny Pokemon by chaining together encounters with a single Pokemon species via the Poke Radar. By increasing the chain, you’re more likely to encounter the shiny grass patch.

16 Approx. 2x better than Basic Odds
36 Approx. 4x better than Basic Odds
38 Approx. 10x better than Basic Odds
40 Approx. 40x better than Basic Odds

If your next encounter is not of the same species, the chain ends. You should avoid getting into wild encounters in grass not rustled by the Poke Radar. Additionally, if no grass shakes after the Poke Radar battle, your chain ends.

Shiny Hunting: All Shiny Odds

Raising your chain length will give you more of a chance to encounter a Pokemon with a certain number of perfect IV stats.

Poke Radar Chain Length No. of Perfect IVs
20 1
30 2
100 5

Pokemon with high IVs in a stat will have a higher than normal value in that stat. IVs are valued at 0 to 31 for each stat, with 31 being the “perfect IV” stat. Even encountering a Pokemon with 1 perfect IV stat is useful, as you can use it to breed and pass on its perfect IVs.

How to Increase IVs

When using the Poke Radar, there’s a chance that a grass patch will have a stronger shake with larger blades of grass coming out of it. The Pokemon encountered in these grass patches are Poke Radar Pokemon with Hidden Abilities.

This type of grass shake is quite rare and when encountering Pokemon in this type of grass, your chances of encountering a Pokemon with its Hidden Ability is still about 30x better than basic odds of encountering Shiny Pokemon.

How to Get Hidden Abilities

To get the Poke Radar, you need to unlock the National Dex. Unlock the National Dex by encountering all Pokemon on the Sinnoh Dex, then speak to Professor Rowan in his lab in Sandgem Town. Professor Oak will arrive to give you the National Dex, then Professor Rowan will give you the Poke Radar to help complete it.

How to Unlock the National Dex

Additionally, you can get the Trainer Counter Poketch App from Professor Oak upon first entering Ramanas Park on Route 221.

Where to find Poké Radar (and what it’s for)

Poké Radar is an unlockable key item in Pokémon BDSP. This allows players to find wild Pokémon on command and chain behind Shiny Pokémon.

Poké Radar is a key element in Pokémon Diamond Diamond and Shining Pearl for players to unlock. As players progress through their adventures in the Sinnoh region, they will unlock access to special items that allow players to interact with the world. Like a pokemon at Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl , these items can help players unlock new items, locations, and find shiny Pokemon. One of the items that players will have access to later is the Poké Radar. Although it debuted in the original game back in 2006, this new version includes several features exclusive to the remake.

Poké Radar is an item that allows players to find certain wild Pokémon hiding in tall grass, and is important for players who want to add a certain Pokémon to their team. More importantly, this entry brings back the method of hunting Shiny Pokémon with Poké Radar. Shiny Pokémon are alternative color options for regular Pokémon. Although finding them is incredibly rare, as the chance of meeting one is 1/4096. If a player encounters the same wild Pokémon repeatedly, it increases the chances that it is Shiny. After 40 encounters, players will drop the odds to 1 in 99. Poké Radar is drastically changing the rules for hunting Shiny Pokémon because of these items, and the Shiny Hunting Pokémon community continues to grow with new audiences.

Poké Radar will be given to trainers by Professor Oak after seeing all 151 Pokémon in the Sinnoh region. After that, go to Pal Park and talk to Professor Rowan. By talking to the professor after you see all 151 Pokémon in the game, Trainers will also be given access to the National Dex.

After obtaining a Poké Radar, players can install it as a shortcut in the Key Items menu. When used in grass, nearby patches of grass will begin to shake. Trainers can approach them to start a fight and can catch or defeat these Pokémon. It’s important to note that encountering any other Pokémon at this point will result in the chain being broken.

To prevent this from happening, keep the Repellers active as long as possible. Players can purchase them from Pokémarts to prevent players from encountering random wild Pokémon. Avoid cycling and stay on track. Shutting down the game or using the autosave feature will also break the chain. The Poké Radar will be difficult to unlock, but the reward will make it much easier to get Shiny Pokémon in Sinnoh. This is one of the many ways to find a shiny Pokémon. Additionally, players can learn how to breed Shiny Pokémon, hunt them in the Dungeon, or encounter them out of the blue.

Pokémon Brilliant Brilliant and Shining Pearl are available now on Nintendo Switch.

radar for finding rare Pokemon

We have already started talking about rare Pokemon in the new Pokemon Go toy. And in this post we will tell you about one of the ways to find such Pokemon. It’s about how to track down Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

As practice shows, catching any «consumer goods», which is always enough in a toy, is an exciting, cool and sometimes simply necessary activity.

However, over time (or immediately after one of your friends is lucky enough to find, say Omstar or Ditto), there is a desire to get a special, rare and powerful Pokémon.

If this is the case, and you also eventually got the idea to hunt down a Pokémon yourself, then we recommend that you start taking a closer look at the gray field in the lower right corner of the screen, which constantly shows the presence of Pokémon nearby.

And if you also go to his menu, then there you will find a whole list of Pokemon with an icon in the form of a chain of footprints, under each name.

So, these traces are there for a reason. They show the distance to the Pokémon that left them. The system works on the principle of «hot-cold». That is, if the pokemon is far away, then 3 tracks are displayed. If you move in its direction, then the tracks will become smaller, and then the animal will appear on the map and you will see it.

Because as soon as some unusual or simply interesting pokemon appears in this list, you tap on it, it starts to be displayed in the search field on the screen.

Actually, from now on, you have every chance to track down the Pokémon.

Now a little more specifics. So, you’ve spotted a rare Pokémon on your radar and are determined to catch it. Then try the following:

1. You seem to already understand that the fewer tracks next to the Pokemon image on the radar, the closer the animal is from you. Zero traces — he is very close and is about to appear on the map. 1 track — almost nearby, 2 tracks — not far, 3 tracks … And here a surprise awaits you. 3 tracks in Pokemon Go means that the Pokemon is not very far away, but we have not yet been able to calculate the exact radius of its search for three tracks. Because 3 tracks on the radar simply means that he is somewhere. But not everything is so tragic.

2. If on the radar you see 3 tracks next to each pokemon (and there are a maximum of 9 of them), then you need to proceed from the fact that the very first pokemon in this list is closer to you than the others, the second is further, the third is even further, the fourth, the fifth, and so on. That is to say, tracking down Pokémon #9 (which is in the lower right corner of the list) is likely to be the hardest.

3. Based on these data, you determine the target and highlight it in the list by tapping on its image. It doesn’t have to be the first Pokémon on the list. Now the main thing is DO NOT CLOSE THE LIST!

4. You need to keep the list open for the simple reason that when you get closer to the selected Pokémon, its place on the list also starts to change. In other words, if a Pokémon, say, moves from 8th position to 7th, then to 6th, and so on to the first, then you are moving in the right direction. Even if all this time under the image of this animal you see all 3 tracks.

5. The most difficult thing is to calculate the correct direction. Therefore, from the very beginning, just move in any direction, looking at the screen. You can use the compass.

If your Pokémon moves down one position in the list, then most likely the radar has noticed a new animal. Moves for a few more seconds. If the Pokemon «failed» immediately 2-3 places down the list, then you need to go in the opposite direction.

6. Having orientated with an approximate direction, we continue to move. You will immediately see that the Pokémon began to move relatively quickly to #1. If it doesn’t, it’s best to go back to where your Pokémon was closest to the top of the list and recalculate the direction again. At this stage, you can use the game compass (if the GPS on your smartphone or tablet is working properly).

BONUS for the careful reader:

BIG POKÉMON MAP!

7. The essence of all these maneuvers is to limit the search area as much as possible and get out of the vast radius of «3 tracks». It is difficult to “move” a Pokemon into the top three, then it will be easier. If the picture of the marked pokemon came out on top, and you saw 2 tracks under it instead of three, then your running around is coming to its finale. Continue on the same principle, holding Pokémon #1 and making sure that there are fewer tracks on the radar now. By the way, along the way, you can go to pokestops that will come across on the way.

8. As we have already said, it is still difficult to calculate the exact distances indicated by these tracks. However, this is definitely not kilometers. The hardest Pokémon we managed to track down, getting it from 8th to 1st on the radar this way, and then following the tracks from 3rd to capture, was two city blocks away from us.

[Updated]: attempts to measure accurate distances have given the following results so far:

  • 3 tracks on the radar — the pokemon is more than 90 meters away from you;
  • 2 tracks on the radar — selected Pokemon within a radius of 90-60 meters;
  • 1 trace on the radar — selected pokemon within a radius of 40-60 meters;
  • traces are gone — Pokemon within a radius of less than 40 meters.

Let’s say right away that the accuracy of the numbers depends heavily on the quality of the GPG. We also note that, apparently, Pokemon do not stand still either. You will notice that sometimes even if you are just standing still, the order of the Pokémon in the list keeps changing.

However, you can always track down a Pokémon if you wish. If the game does not crash again , and this, unfortunately, is very common. Don’t be nervous if a Tauros (or Charizard?) suddenly disappears from the list while tracking down. Wait a bit, it may reappear. Or it will not appear — you also need to be prepared for this.

By the way, if you are playing in a group with friends and are tracking Pokemon using this system, then the game will most likely copy the Pokemon for each of the “trackers”, but only place them at some distance from each other. Therefore, if you have found your Pokemon, then your friends need to continue the search. Somewhere nearby will be the same animals.

9. When you do track down a rare Pokémon, don’t forget to «feed» it properly with berries first and switch to the best Poké Ball. So that, which is good, the animal does not run away and all your efforts do not go down the drain. Of course, he can escape, but at least you will know that you did everything correctly.

Don’t Miss: LOTS OF HP, FAST LEVEL UP AND RARE POKEMONS: HOW TO FARM IN POKEMON GO0007

  • If you manage to track down a Pokémon, remember the place where you caught it and go there again in a few hours. It is very likely that there, or rather approximately there, exactly the same will appear. And will be there all the time. Catch. Extra ones, especially if they are rare Pokemon, you can profitably hand over to the Professor (and exchange them for others in the future).
  • The search list has another important feature — analytical. Pay attention not only to the names of the Pokémon that appear on the list, but also to their types, while also taking into account the features of the surrounding area. In the sense that if there is not even a tiny reservoir nearby, then most likely you will not come across Omastar. But it is quite possible to detect Charmeleon, Taurus, or even Charizard himself.
