Pokemon Go Pikachu Libre: How to get the exclusive Luchador Pikachu

The Pokemon Go Pikachu Libre outfit is one of many disguises Pikachu can don in Pokemon Go, but it’s also one of the rarest and hardest to attain. You won’t find Libre Pikachu out in the wild though, because the Luchador Pokemon is obtained via a very specific method. You need to dive into the Battle League PvP mode to get it, but it’s not quite as simple as just winning a few battles. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Pokemon Go Pikachu Libre outfit.

The Pokemon Go Pikachu Libre is an exclusive reward in the Battle League. This is the ranked PvP mode where you compete against other players around the world for top rewards. As you progress through the ranks, you’ll earn things like stardust, rare candies, and Pokemon encounters that are otherwise tricky to find.

One of these Pokemon encounters is Pikachu Libre. Unfortunately, you do need to attain Legend status by winning enough games, along with hitting the max rank of 25. Expect to play a lot of matches to reach that level, but it’s all worth it for Pikachu Libre, which also has a chance to be shiny.

Pikachu Libre will know the exclusive move Flying Press and you can also earn Libre outfit items for your avatar too, so you can be matching buddies. Make sure to check out all of our guides to the best Pokemon for each league above, to stand a chance of making it to rank 25!

Pikachu Libre Is Easier Than Ever To Obtain in Pokémon GO

Pikachu Libre has been one of the most difficult Pokémon to obtain in Pokémon GO. Costumed in a luchador outfit, this special variation of Pikachu is only obtainable through leveling up in Pokémon GO. Normally, trainers have to level up beyond Level 20 which can be gained through a number of wins, and then advance through the post-number levels including Legend. The post-number rankings are based not on the number of wins but rather your overall GBL ranking… so even if you win two out of five battles, you’ll find yourself further from ranking up rather than closer. However, the post-number rankings aren’t currently active in the current interim season of GO Battle League in Pokémon GO. Instead, the ranking cap at Rank 20, meaning that all competitive players who hit 20 will still be able to play and get rewards but will no longer rank up. During this interim season, Pikachu Libre is guaranteed as your first encounter once you hit Rank 20 and then win an encounter.

There is one twist to this now obtainable Pikachu Libre encounter. Over on the official Pokémon GO blog, Niantic confirms that it has turned off the Shiny-capability of Pikachu Libre. Which… come on, man! Weak.

Niantic goes on to detail the remaining schedule for the interim season of GO Battle League:

  • March 29th – April 5th:
    • Ultra League
    • Catch Cup
  • April 5th – April 12th:
    • Master League*

      • *Triple Stardust from rewards, excluding end of set rewards
  • May 3rd – May 10th:

Pokemon GO Battle League Rewards — Libre Pikachu in Pokémon GO Battle League

Jan 31

Pokemon GO Battle League Rewards

We would like to share information about the rewards you will receive for participating in the GO Battle League. In addition, here we will learn other interesting things. Next, you will find everything that the developer claims.

  • Rewards will be determined by rank and battles won. Players need to walk five kilometers to be able to join the Pokémon GO Battle League and open five online matches. During the battle, you can get a large amount of Stardust depending on your rank in the League and how many of the five battles you win. The more wins, the more stardust. You will be able to earn Rare Candies and TM in-game items, as well as exclusive Pokémon encounters. nine0008

Battle League GO rewards

  • Libre Pikachu and avatar items will be GO rewards
Battle League. Dressed in a wrestling-themed costume, Pikachu Libre first appeared in Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
and Pokken Tournament. Now he will debut
and in Pokémon GO as a Pokémon that can only be encountered
through participation in the GO Battle League. As you rank up in
during the pre-season, you can also look forward to themed items for
your avatar. Don’t forget to wear some of these items to
demonstrate their martial prowess, as they can only be obtained by
    GO Battle League members. nine0008

Libre Pikachu

  • Premium Raid Passes will soon become Premium Battle Passes. It will be the same Premium Raid Pass, just with a new name. It can be used to participate in raid battles or to enter the premium mode of the Pokemon GO Battle League. The Premium Battle Pass allows you to earn the best GO Battle League rewards every time you win. In addition, it will reduce the number of wins required to obtain certain Pokémon encounters. Using the Premium Battle Pass does not affect your rank or rating — the only way to improve them is to win. nine0008
  • Use Battle Now to get early access to the GO Battle League. The Battle Now feature gives you the opportunity to spend PokéCoins to join the GO Battle League early. The cost decreases as you approach the five-kilometer mark. Note that you still need to walk at least two kilometers before you can use this option. You can always go all the way to enter the GO Battle League without spending PokéCoins.

The list of rewards may change depending on the current season, so check back regularly for updates. nine0003
