This walkthrough and strategy guide for Octopath Traveler contains walkthroughs for each of the main characters’ story chapters, maps, boss fight guides, treasure chest locations, and hidden items.
Octopath Traveler’s story is separated into 8 individual tales, one for each of the 8 playable characters. When starting the game, you choose your protagonist, a character who will be the one consistent in your otherwise flexible party formation.

After completing the first chapter of your starting character, you can then begin to explore the world and meet up with the other characters (which can be located on the map at many of the main cities and towns, and help them begin the first chapter of their own story. Upon completing another character’s introductory chapter, you will be able to follow whichever of the 8 stories you’d like to in the journal, following each person’s journey across Osterra. In addition to the story being separated into the 8 characters, each has it’s own chapters as well.

Below you will find information on each of the character’s main story chapters. The starting Chapter 1 begins in each character’s main town, while others will often take place far away on the other side of the map, and require much more experience, making it worth your while to recruit the other characters along the way.

A return to Square Enix’s roleplaying roots, Octopath Traveler is an RPG you can play your own way. With a cast of eight characters, seven of which you don’t even need to recruit in a given playthrough, Octopath Traveler gives you the freedom to explore the realm of Orsterra, explore a myriad of personal stories, and eventually tie it all up with a hidden plotline that harkens back to the world’s days of yore. One of Square Enix’s newer franchises, Octopath Traveler nevertheless utilizes the tried-and-true turn-based combat and quirky characters that made the company a success years before its release.
Because Octopath Traveler allows you to play through the game with any of the eight player characters as your ‘main’ protagonist, there is no one way to play through the game. Personal quests can be completed in any order you like. As such this guide will be divided into the quests of each of the eight characters, rather than following a set linear path.
