Update: A Nintendo Direct has officially been confirmed to be taking place on September 13th at 7AM PT / 3PM BST, as earlier reports suggested. It’s set to feature around 40 minutes of new information focused «mostly» on titles releasing this winter.

Naturally, excitement is through the roof for this one, as this is likely to be one of Nintendo’s biggest showcases this year. Breath of the Wild 2? Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD ports? Metroid Prime remake? How about a new Mario? Anything is on the table.

With 40 minutes to play with, there’s a bunch of stuff that could be announced. Aside from more Zelda, I’d love to get an Advance Wars release date as well as maybe an update on Metroid Prime 4. Head to Nintendo’s YouTube or Twitch channel to watch the stream in full.

Tune in at 7 a.m. PT tomorrow, 9/13, for a #NintendoDirect livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information mostly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching this winter.Watch it here 🎥:https://t.co/CqYDjy0iHo pic.twitter.com/xIplXiSvkOSeptember 12, 2022

Original Story: A new Nintendo Direct is reportedly set to take place sometime in September with The Legend of Zelda series set to be one of the main focuses.

That’s according to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb and VentureBeat managing editor Mike Minotti (via VGC ), who revealed that Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD will be announced for Nintendo Switch during the presentation. Grubb also made comments earlier this year that the beloved Zelda titles will look to replace the absence left by Breath of the Wild 2 this holiday.

The week of September 12th was noted by Grubb as the likely date for announcements to be made, having a «pretty good source» confirming it to the journalist. Nintendo has held a Nintendo Direct in September every year since 2016, so this seems a good bet.

«100% there’s a Nintendo Direct in September, it’s that simple,» said Grubb. «There is still some uncertainty about whether this will be a general [Nintendo Direct], maybe a Mini, there was some talk of it being a Partner Direct».

Minotti then stated that: «The one thing we are very, very sure is being announced at this [Nintendo] Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch. Grubb then added: I think there’s going to be a lot of Zelda stuff at this thing. I think this is like a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.»

Similarly, it was noted that a Metroid Prime remaster could make an appearance at the same presentation, however, that was more speculation.

«The Metroid Prime thing seems like it should be happening. It’s a lot of remasters to announce in one thing, but maybe that will be a little bit of a theme here,» Minotti explained.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD originally launched on the Nintendo Wii U in September 2013 before The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess received the same HD treatment for the console in March 2016. Fans (including myself) have been clamouring for both titles’ releases on Nintendo Switch for years.

Breath of the Wild 2 was initially scheduled for a 2022 release date with speculation suggesting November was the original launch window – most notably, this was mentioned on an IGN Nintendo podcast in December 2021. The game will now arrive in spring 2023.

Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD Switch Ports Rumored

By
Thomas McNulty

Rumors suggest that Nintendo Switch HD ports of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess will be announced in September.

Industry insider Jeff Grubb claims that Nintendo Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda titles The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess will be revealed during a September Nintendo Direct event. Released in 2002 and 2006 respectively, the two titles have yet to receive updated rereleases on Nintendo’s latest console. Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on Switch have both been rumored for some time, and now Jeff Grubb claims that both ports will finally be announced next month.

2021 marked the 35th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda franchise, and Nintendo has gone to great lengths to celebrate the beloved fantasy adventure series and update its older entries. Over the last several years Nintendo has released HD ports of classic Zelda games which maintain each title’s original gameplay while upgrading graphics for modern hardware. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD came to Nintendo Switch in July 2021, for example, with the Wii title receiving enhanced graphics and a new control scheme to fit the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. Last year the beloved Nintendo 64 Zelda games came to Nintendo Switch Online, too, though Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are still absent from the console.

In a video posted by YouTube channel Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess (via GamingBolt), industry insider Jeff Grubb claims that Nintendo will soon announce Nintendo Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. The insider is confident that a Nintendo Direct event will be held in September, and this digital showcase will apparently be used to announce the two ports. Grubb claims that the Direct will be heavily focused on The Legend of Zelda in general, with the Switch ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess potentially being accompanied by news about the anticipated sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Many fans believe that the delay of Zelda: BOTW 2 makes Nintendo Switch ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess even more likely. The series’ 2017 installment Breath of the Wild was wildly praised for its open-ended gameplay and world design, but a direct sequel to the project has sadly been delayed into 2023. This leaves Nintendo with a large gap between new Legend of Zelda releases, and Switch ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess can easily fill this void if they release this year or early next year.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are both wildly different in terms of art style and gameplay. Both titles have left a definite mark on the franchise, however, and fans have clamored to see both adventures ported to the Nintendo Switch. While these rumors have not been confirmed, Jeff Grubb claims that Switch ports of both Legend of Zelda titles will be announced in September during a Nintendo Direct showcase.

Reissues of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess may come out this year on the Nintendo Switch, replacing the gap left by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’s postponement to next spring , according to well-known insider Jeff Grubb .

Both games were previously ported to the Wii U. Rumors of them being ported to the Switch have been around for a long time.

«Nintendo wants Zelda to come out every year, they’ve been holding off on ports of those two games for a long time, so why don’t they release them in 2022?» Grubb pointed out that he wouldn’t understand Nintendo if it just made the fans series to wait until next year for Breath of the Wild 2.

Grubb predicts Wind Waker and Twilight Princess will be released on the Switch as part of a single compilation sometime around October.

«I think Metroid Prime 1 Remake will arrive in November and Advance Wars 1 + 2 will be released in December,» he added.

In 2021, Nintendo re-released The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Switch.

Twilight Princess » The market of all online games, the guarantor of online transactions.

This is the 15th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the 35th anniversary of the series; it’s time to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch.

Time to bring The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Wii classic is the fourth highest rated game in the 9 series0084 The Legend of Zelda , but it is not used on modern consoles. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the beloved series, but it looks like Nintendo doesn’t have many plans given Zelda .

The bulk of the work has already been done from Nintendo’s point of view, as the HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was made for the Wii U. The Nintendo Switch is a huge success. 80 million units were sold, and sales of the software were record-breaking in many cases. There is a longing for more Zelda, and Twilight Princess might be the answer.

Be it The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap or Majora’s Mask , there is a long list of Link’s adventures that are not available on modern consoles. But Twilight Princess is an interesting game in that it recently got a second chance; it’s just likely that not many have been able to try it.

Twilight Princess was launched by Nintendo Wii and GameCube back in 2006, 15 years ago. It’s quite possible that many young Nintendo fans have never had a chance to enjoy a dark take on Zelda and Link 9.0084 . So, when Nintendo brought back Twilight Princess with the HD remake on the Wii U, a lot of people were excited. However, because the Wii U didn’t perform as well as most Nintendo home consoles, the game still didn’t make it into the hands of many

players.
The

Nintendo Wii U is one of the most disappointing consoles in recent times and by most estimates The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD r has sold just over one million copies. Lesser known games that have been brought back to Switch such as Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze , cracked 2 million, so it can be assumed that Twilight Princess . ) would have broken the Wii U release. Meanwhile, a game like New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has sold over 10 million copies after being made available again on the Switch. If Twilight Princess no longer fell into the trap of outdated consoles, it could have been a success in terms of sales and many would have been able to play it for the first time.

One sword in the sky isn’t enough to celebrate The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary

If

Princess released on Nintendo Switch, now is the perfect time. The announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD coming to Switch was exciting, but at the same time left fans hungry for more. First game Zelda was released in 1986, marking the 35th anniversary of the series. Nintendo has given great importance to the 35th anniversary of Super Mario , and the same celebration is expected in The Legend of Zelda .

Nintendo celebrated the anniversary of Super Mario with a 3D Collection, limited-time collectibles, a new online multiplayer game, a re-release and expansion ( Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury ), and more. Compared to all this for The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD looks very lonely.

Whether it’s additional information about ‘s Breath of the Wild sequel, another third-party spin-off (like Hyrule Warriors ), or something else exciting, many expect a lot of ‘s The Legend of Zelda in 2021 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series. If the year comes and goes and all that can be shown from it is Skyward Sword HD , dissatisfied fans will appear. Continuation of Breath of the Wild , unfortunately, just may not be ready. But to fill that gap, Twilight Princess HD for Switch might be part of the answer.

RELATED: Why 2022 is a better year for Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 than 2021 broke records as one of the most popular video games of all time. This is partly because the formula was invented in a completely unique way. Players were thrown into the world and able to explore Hyrule at their own pace; in my own way. But before that, Twilight Princess may have perfected the classic formula of 3D Zelda .

Classic 3D formula Zelda uses dungeons, essential items/weapons to destroy bosses and/or reach new areas, storytelling that moves the game forward, and great linearity. These are things that are not in Breath of the Wild ; for better or for worse.

The reveal of Twilight Princess was one of the biggest E3 moments of all time, and the game lived up to that hype for many. What Twilight Princess did was take the Ocarina of Time formula and expand it as an epic adventure. So while it may not have felt as fresh as Breath of the Wild, Twilight Princess has innovated in gameplay, scope, story, music, and more.

In many areas, it can be argued that Twilight Princess is top of the The Legend of Zelda titles. Its music is excellent, the gameplay is clean and evolving (especially since Link can expand his abilities by learning «Hidden Skills»), Wolf Link’s mechanics are unique and fun, and arguably has the best dungeons in all of Zelda . The size of the map and world to explore was much larger than anything Nintendo had put together to date. In addition, the tone of the game is very different from the likes of Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, or even Breath of the Wild .

The story of Twilight Princess is dark and grim, perhaps closer to Majora’s Mask than anything else.
