Neverending Nightmares doesn’t go for the big set pieces, but relies on you to fill the gaps with your own imagination before unleashing some horror on you. Its slow pace combined with ominous sounds and music help to build tension in environments that gradually fall apart, as Neverending Nightmares masterfully gives off a sense of dread in its short playtime.

With Neverending Nightmares, Infinitap does a stellar job of simulating the more common elements of nightmares, but shows enough self-control to prevent the experience from being absolutely wearying. Though the subject matter might be disturbing to some, this short, effective experience makes for one of the more memorable horror games in recent memory.

Neverending Nightmares is a very personal look at what it’s like to feel trapped by mental illnesses, a look that is gruesome and scary. Though the game excels with great sound and art design, creating truly scary moments, its boring gameplay loop makes it a hard to sit through.

Sketching the true horrors of mental illness, Neverending Nightmares succeeds in creating an unnerving atmosphere that will keep you forever on the edge of your seat. It’s let down by a lack of environments and varied gameplay, but it still stands as a chilling experience that those with an interest in the genre should check out.

Relentlessly chilling, but lacking in replayability, Neverending Nightmares is for those who value memorable storytelling more than solid gameplay.

It is a short but intense experience (you can easily beat it in two hours or less), where the best option is let oneself go and enjoy the ‘ride’. As I say, the main charm of the game lies is in the artistic design of screens: with no more than three colours and imagination, Matt Gilgenbach’s team manages to create an appealing pencil-drawn world of nightmare.
In combination with the evocative atmospheric music, Neverending Nightmares is beautiful and horrifying in equal measure. As the author claimed, the idea came from an obsessive-compulsive disorder he himself suffered. Even if it were not true -which I guess it really is-, the mere fact of evoking such a distressful sensation is interesting per se. Last but not least, it is a nice message for people suffering from this kind of problems.

Neverending Nightmares
Not surprisingly feels never ending
Never ending nightmares starts out with a dream of you stabbing a girlNeverending Nightmares
Not surprisingly feels never ending
Never ending nightmares starts out with a dream of you stabbing a girl
thankfully this is only a dream,
you wake up. .
or do you?
You walk through the creepy hallways and doors to meet an end.. only to wake up
or do you?
you do this same thing and wake up…
or.. you get the point
this is a never ending nightmare one end leads to a new beginning, and you basically continue this loop until you reach the credits…
This game will definitely give you an anxious feeling.. it sets out to do so..
you feel trapped and frustrated.. and not because the game is difficult, but because of the atmosphere.. because of the whining and wheezing your main character does as you run…
the unsettling music…
There are some threats in the game.. some roided up babies and creepy dolls that will kill you if they catch you.. but if you die you just wake up in the nearest bed…
Basically you open doors with knots in your stomach for an hour and a half straight
just to get to 1 of the 3 endings that answer no questions and leave you even more confused…
Seeing these 3 endings will add another 45 minutes if you choose to try and take a different path via nightmare select…
but youll find this to be quite a drag and a chore coming back to a nearly identical experience. .
This is overall my biggest issue with the game..
I understand the idea of a never ending nightmare that loops…
but there is far too little change in environment and setting to keep the player engaged…
you see the same handful of rooms over and over to be occasionally interrupted by a psych ward, or a forest…
I could’ve done without the psych ward, but I wish more was done with the forest to change the monotony of the scenery…
While Neverending Nightmares definitely feels never ending along your journey..
its still an unsettling experience horror fans may find an odd enjoyment out of…
I give neverending nightmares
a 6.5/10… Expand-

It’s not perfect but it does a lot of things right. The first thing you should know before you get this game is that it is an artistic statement on mental health and the dark emotions that go along with it, all set in a horror themed game. I really appreciated the art design, I haven’t seen anything like it and fits some of the themes really well, I personally felt like every colored object I saw I had to interact with even though there are many doors in the game that lead to nowhere. I don’t know if it was intentional or not but this aspect of the game really made me think of ocd and having to wake up constantly in to a new nightmare over and over again made me think of insomnia. So artistically I think the game accomplishes what it tried to do. It is also quite frightening with very disturbing imagery and atmospher although most of the tension seems to be caused by the unique art style which seems to fade away after you get used to it, but the game throws new things to be scared of as the game goes on and keeps you on your toes since you have to avoid the new enemies you see but each one has a different way of avoiding them. That’s everything I really liked about the game, but unfortuently there are many place where the game falls flat. Even though I like how you have the urge to click on every door handle without the doors actually leading anywhere, once you begin to understand that, these moments loose are there tension and begin to become annoying and tedious especially when you find yourself in a room you have seen many times before. That game also feels way to short, I think I finished it within an hour. The gameplay is overly simple as well, you can walk, run and interact, that’s it. It’s disappointing because the game looks so cool and has a lot of interesting ideas but the gameplay just doesn’t match up making it feel even duller. It’s not a bad game, but it’s definitely not for everyone, those who are easily scared will probably be really scared playing this game, and for those who enjoy aritsic games may appreciate this as well, but anyone in between might not get much out of it… Expand

Neverending Nightmares
Endless Nightmares on PS4 and PS Vita in Q2 2016…
Varyag_Ericsson —
Matt Gilgenbach from Infinitap Games Studios once again present his new
hand-drawn horror for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita —
Neverending Nightmares , that is, «Endless Nightmares». The game
will appear on the mentioned consoles in the second quarter of this year, and
will offer players all the horrors and trials that are present in
original release already on PC, plus a number of improvements.
So, for example, for the console versions, the system was slightly tweaked
ramifications, now moments that affect the further development
events become clearer. But don’t take it as
relief as there were quite a few complaints about the PC version of this
about — the forks were too non-obvious and often the players hit
on the same path.
Matt himself notes that this game is special for him,
because it metaphorically reproduces part of his personal experience
struggle with mental disorders, namely: depression and
obsessive-compulsive disorder. The latter represents
is a disease in which a person constantly develops
intrusive or frightening thoughts that he is trying to get rid of
with the help of no less intrusive and tedious actions. For example,
a person constantly thinks that he has dirty hands, although this is not
so, and he will wash them every few minutes or hours.
In Neverending Nightmares, the development team reproduced
many of the darkest and most negative human emotions, such as
fear, horror, despair, hopelessness, pain and anxiety.
The main character of the game is a young man named Thomas,
suffering from asthma. He suddenly wakes up after a terrible nightmare and
trying to get rid of thoughts about him, but gradually it becomes clear
that the boy got into a whole series of nightmares, each of which is still
more hellish than the previous one. Our goal is to hide and avoid
fears that prevent Thomas from finally waking up in real
the world. Depending on the decisions made and the paths chosen, we will
fall into various nightmares and move to one of several
endings.

Little Nightmares 2 really makes you feel small and helpless. The overall visual design infuses even a simple four-walled room with something inexplicably ominous. Every creature you meet in this creepy world won’t jump out full screen like a cheap screamer. They are able to scare with their vile and repulsive appearance.

In Little Nightmares II, the developers avoided self-repetitions and looked at the world of nightmares with a new scope. Gorgeous art design, truly frightening monsters, updated platforming, diverse puzzles and, of course, gorgeous storytelling — this is an incomplete list of the advantages of this unique project. Needless to say, the atmosphere here makes an indelible impression.

Little Nightmares 2 is an excellent game. This is a dark interactive fairy tale full of creepy adventures and nightmarish monsters. It looks great and plays great, so it can be easily recommended to almost everyone. Even if you think that buying such a short game for such money is an excessive luxury, do not completely discount it.

Little Nightmares series like Limbo at maximum speed or a children’s fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm without censorship. The second part retains the canons of the original and the atmosphere, but develops in terms of gameplay. I really want this evolution to continue in the third part, which we are already looking forward to very, very much in advance.

Little Nightmares 2 is good throughout. The preview is relevant (the articles complement each other, read). You can only clarify the little things like the presence of a flashlight, which still appears, but in one chapter — in others, their own unique devices. One of the sections of the game still scared. The gameplay is verified, perfected: LN2 could have continued without losing the interest of the audience…

Little Nightmares II can forgive a lot. In the end, games so atmospheric and skillfully using horror stamps can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Especially in the platformer genre. On the other hand, the narrative vector chosen by the developers may not cause the most pleasant emotions. Be prepared for this — and then you will not be disappointed.

It was not for nothing that we included Little Nightmares 2 in the tops of the most anticipated games of 2021: for PlayStation, for PC and Xbox. In five hours it is as if you live several lives in it, it is so rich in events and emotions. Every moment in it is verified to perfection and is remembered for a long time. In the era of the same type of AAA, such games are like a breath of fresh air.
