Nintendo muss Mario Kart 8 lieben. Bei der Nintendo Direct wurde eine Erweiterung für den knapp acht Jahre alten Titel angekündigt – anstelle eines Nachfolgers.
Kyoto, Japan – Die 8 ist mittlerweile umgekippt und bildet ein Unendlichzeichen. Mario Kart 8 wird uns vermutlich noch einige Zeit begleiten. Bei der Nintendo Direct am 09. Februar hatten viele Fans die Hoffnung auf Mario Kart 9, jedoch wurden die Erwartungen von Nintendo gesprengt. Lediglich ein neuer DLC für den bisherigen Switch-Titel soll es geben – das steckt drin.

Mario Kart 8: Neue Erweiterung bringt 48 neue Strecken – Deluxe-Version der Deluxe-Version
Was ist passiert? Am 09. Februar fand eine neue Nintendo Direct statt, bei der einige Fans auf frischen Wind hofften. Nachdem Leaker Mario Kart 9 prognostiziert hatten, juckte es der Nintendo-Community in den Fingern. Doch nachdem Disney Speedstorm präsentiert wurde, gaben einige die Hoffnung schon auf. Shinya Takahashi bekam wieder ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit, als er „Neuigkeiten für Fans von Mario Kart“ ankündigte.
Das ist neu (alt): Dabei handelte es sich jedoch nicht um Mario Kart 9, sondern um den Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster-Streckenpass. In sechs Wellen will Nintendo insgesamt 48 Strecken zum Titel hinzufügen, der im Mai acht Jahre alt wird. Leider werden dabei nur alte Strecken recycelt und demnach keine wirklich neuen Fahrbahnen ins Spiel kommen. Bis zum Ende des Jahres wird Mario 8 also 96 spielbare Kurse haben.

Dafür lässt Nintendo die Fans wieder 24,99 € blechen. Alle Spieler*innen, die das Nintendo Switch Online-Erweiterungspaket besitzen, können den neuen DLC ohne weitere Kosten herunterladen. Am 18. März 2022 erscheinen die ersten acht neuen Strecken und ab sofort lässt sich der Streckenpass im eShop von Nintendo vorbestellen. In der Nintendo Direct auf YouTube wurde gezeigt, dass die ersten acht Strecken diese sein werden:
- Schoko-Sumpf (Nintendo 64)
- Pilz-Pass (Nintendo DS)
- Kokos-Promenade (Nintendo Wii)
- Toads Piste (Nintendo 3DS)
- Paris-Parcours (Android, iOS)
- Tokio-Tempotour (Android, iOS)
- Wolkenpiste (Gameboy Advance)
- Ninja-Dojo (Android, iOS)
Damit kommen auch erstmalig Strecken auf die Konsole, die bisher nur in Mario Kart Tour für Android und iOS verfügbar waren. Jedoch mildert das nicht die Enttäuschung mancher Fans, die seit den Mario Kart 9-Gerüchten der letzten E3 auf einen würdigen Nachfolger warten.
Mario Kart 8: Fans haben ein lachendes und ein weinendes Auge – Wann kommt Mario Kart 9?
Das sagen die Fans: In den Kommentarboxen auf YouTube, Twitter und Reddit lassen sich viele gespaltene Meinungen finden. „Mario Kart 8 ist Nintendos GTA 5“ schreibt ein Fan auf Reddit. Manche sind davon überzeugt, dass der Streckenpass besser als Mario Kart 9 sei, da das Einzige, was der bisherige Titel brauche, mehr Strecken waren. Kommentare wie „Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Deluxe“ und „Mario Kart ∞“ finden sich unter allen Posts. Doch alles in allem scheinen die Fans dennoch zufrieden zu sein und vergleichen den DLC mit Super Smash Bros. Ultimates Credo „Everyone is here“.
Wann kommt Mario Kart 9? Mit dem Reveal des neuen DLC werden wir uns wohl noch einige Jahre auf Mario Kart 8 einstellen müssen. Die Anzahl der Strecken zu verdoppeln ist kein Zuckerschlecken und Nichts, was Nintendo für mickrige zwei Jahre tun wird. Vermutlich wird uns Mario Kart 9 erst auf der nächsten Nintendo-Konsole erwarten. Vielleicht bringt Nintendo auch zum 10-Jahres-Jubiläum von Mario Kart 8 weitere 48 Strecken.

On March 18, 2022, a new software update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released. Download and install this update by connecting your Nintendo Switch console to the Internet.
Additional information
- This update must be installed in order to continue using the online features of the game.
- Saves will remain available after the update is installed.
- If the console is connected to the Internet, the update will automatically download and install.
- After the update, you will not be able to play on LAN with players who have not installed this update on their console.
Do the following
- Connect your Nintendo Switch console to the Internet.
- Return to the HOME menu and start the game.
- The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
- After installing the update, the title screen will show the current version of the game.

- Eight tracks from the first part of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Extra Track Pass are now supported.
- If someone in a group of players has a ticket for additional tracks, then all players will be able to choose one of the available additional tracks.
- New tracks available in Friends & Rivals, Wireless Play and LAN Play.
- As of March 22, these additional tracks can be selected in the game online.
- New tracks available in World, Region, and Competition modes.
- Even if a player does not have access to a ticket for additional tracks, while playing online, he will be able to randomly appear on these tracks.

- Reduced the time it takes for item boxes to spawn after being picked up by a player.

The second wave of additional tracks for the racing game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be available on August 4, 20220056 Nintendo .
