New One Piece Movie Announced With Blend Of Animation And Live-Action

A new One Piece short film has been announced that will feature a blend of live-action and animated sequences from many different directors.
Popular pirate adventure anime One Piece has put out 20 seasons and numerous films over the past twenty years. Even with so much released under the franchise, the series has remained a fan favorite over the years with consistent viewership, and it appears those viewers have a new short film to look forward to.
A Japanese press release recently announced the One Piece series will be getting something a little different: a new «short» movie, but with a blend of animation and live-action. Not a lot of detail was released about the movie, however, it was announced that a «famous» director would be overseeing the live-action sequences while multiple anime directors from the show will be working on the animated parts. It was also teased that the short film may release directly to YouTube instead of airing on television, meaning that fans all over the world should be able to experience it upon its release.

No release date or names of the cast and crew were officially announced yet, but more information should be coming around early September. Even though the One Piece film is being referred to as short, the length is undetermined. With all of the information given, it stands to reason that the film may be slightly longer than the average short (spanning from 3-20 minutes) while still remaining shorter than a feature-length movie. The announcement also came with a new cover teased on the Weekly Jump anime magazine.
The general premise of the One Piece series follows the main character Monkey D. Luffy as he sets off on a journey to find a treasure known as the one-piece, which will proclaim him King of the Pirates.
While building his crew, which he calls the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy meets a number of friends who join him. After acquiring a ship, called the Going Merry, the crew encounter peril and trouble at every corner of their journey, from bounty hunters to corrupt governments. Each season of the show deals with different aspects of this journey and other adventures.
It is unclear what part of this journey the short One Piece film will deal with. A blend of animation and live-action is sure to bring a new exciting element to the franchise, and maybe it could even lead into a feature-length film of the same style.
Which characters and settings of One Piece will remain animated and which will be live-action in the film is also unclear. However, the film will undoubtedly add another level of depth to the endless journeys of Luffy and his Straw Hat crew.

Handlung und Hintergrund
Prinzessin Uta soll auf der Musikinsel Elegia ihr erstes Konzert geben. Mit ihrer engelsgleichen, „überirdischen“ Stimme und ihren feuerroten Locken zog die weltberühmte Gesangsdiva schon seit Anbeginn ihrer Karriere die Welt in ihren Bann. Dementsprechend viele Fans haben sich auf Elegia eingefunden: Neben der Strohhutbande nahmen auch etliche weitere Piraten und sogar die Marine den weiten Weg auf sich, um Uta live singen zu hören. Doch als Ruffy offenbart, dass sie die Tochter von Piraten-Kaiser Rothaar-Shanks ist – von dem Ruffy übrigens seinen markanten Strohhut geschenkt bekam – wendet sich das Blatt. Die Begeisterung weicht einer Welle der Erschütterung.
Doch Uta hütet ein weiteres Geheimnis aus ihrer Vergangenheit, das ebenso viele Rätsel aufgibt wie die „neue Ära“, von der Uta singt. Überzeugt davon, mit ihren Liedern Glück und Frieden zu verbreiten, entbrennt ein erbitterter Kampf um Prinzessin Uta, der nicht nur Ruffy an seine Grenzen zu bringen droht.
Kann er seine Freundin aus Kindertagen vor einem grausigen Schicksal bewahren und damit die Welt retten? Oder ist es gar Utas Stimme, die das Meer mit all seinen Inseln in die ewige Gefangenschaft treiben könnte?
„One Piece Film: Red“: Bekannte Synchronstimmen und ein J-Pop-Star
Wer vorhat, „One Piece Film: Red“ in der deutschen Synchronisation statt im Originalton mit Untertiteln zu sichten, darf sich auf die altbekannten Synchronstimmen aus der „One Piece“-Serie freuen. So wird unter anderem Daniel Schlauch als Monkey D. Ruffy zu hören sein, während Martin Halm dem Charakter Shanks seine Stimme leiht. Stephanie Kellner übernimmt den Sprechpart von Nami, Uwe Thomsen bekommen wir als Zorro auf die Ohren.
Während Uta in der deutschen Synchronfassung von Zina Laus gesprochen wird, bleiben die eigens für den Film geschriebenen Lieder im japanischen Originalton, und zwar nicht ohne Grund: Niemand Geringeres als die preisgekrönte J-Pop-Musikerin Ado übernimmt den Gesangspart der Prinzessin.

In Japan kommen Anime-Fans bereits seit August in den Genuss von „One Piece Film: Red“, in Deutschland findet der 14. „One Piece“-Film ab dem 13. Oktober 2022 Einzug in die Kinos.

Soviet and Russian director Vadim Abdrashitov has died at the age of 78.
He did not come to the cinema immediately, at first he studied at the Physicotechnical Institute. The duet with screenwriter Mindadze, like no other, conveyed the spirit of the times, the break of perestroika. The paintings «Fox Hunt», «Plumbum, or Dangerous Game», «Dancer’s Time» are already classics. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the relatives of Vadim Abdrashitov, calling him «one of the true luminaries of the national cinema.»
He decided to come to the cinema at the age of 25, having studied as a chemist-technologist and having worked at the Moscow Electrovacuum Plant.
«It seemed to me that I would be the oldest guy at VGIK, but I turned out to be middle-aged,» the director recalled.
And he turned out to be, in fact, the last student of Mikhail Romm. Vadim Abdrashitov’s thesis «Stop Potapov!» he no longer saw. But others saw it.
«He was such a solid person and with a fairly strong character. Probably, this helped him,» actor Valentin Smirnitsky said about Abdrashitov.
This is Potapov’s dream performed by the young Smirnitsky. An armchair on the deserted Kalininsky Prospekt — the world through the eyes of the protagonist. Abdrashitov was immediately invited to work for Mosfilm, on staff. And, one might say, I was lucky almost immediately to find «their» screenwriter — Alexander Mindadze.
“Abdrashitov and I had our own audience. Its number was limited, but it was a fairly large group of people: the intelligentsia, film clubs in many cities, and so on. The film Plumbum was watched by 20 million people,” recalled Mindadze.
The first joint film — «A word for protection», a court drama. And then a new drama, «Turn», — a magnificent duet of Oleg Yankovsky and Irina Kupchenko. The hero knocks down an elderly woman in a car, a rainbow life turns upside down.
And every new film is about ordinary people. Ordinary life, and in the twists of fate, in general, nothing fantastic. But «Fox Hunting» holds. The protagonist wants to understand and justify his bully-offender.
«Vadim Abdrashitov was a deep, bright, sometimes merciless researcher of Soviet reality. And I had the good fortune to star in one of his best films — Fox Hunting. It was an unforgettable, bright event in my cinematic life,» actor Vladimir Gostyukhin admitted .
Perestroika is in the yard, and Abdrashitov shows a slice of this time, and its nerve. An event on the Soviet screen is the film «Plumbum, or a Dangerous Game», which divided the viewer into those who are «for» the idealist teenager, and those who are «against».
«He led the scene, you know, on the edge of a knife, so that you would not fall either to the right or to the left. He gave such precise remarks. He never shouted, he spoke calmly. Very somehow … he always spoke to the point. You know , it was a great happiness to work with him,» says actor Alexander Pashutin.
And Abdrashitov’s «Parade of Planets» is, firstly, a parade of Soviet screen stars. The depth and brightness of each character impressed even Fellini.
The film was awarded a prize in Italy.
And this is the scene on the set of the film «Magnetic Storms».
«For me, Vadim Yusupovich Abdrashitov is a person who showed me the way to the profession of a film actor. Before that, of course, I acted in films, but it was precisely starting with «Magnetic Storms» in his film that I mastered the profession of a film actor. The way he spoke, how I led the set — I never heard a scream on the set, everything was clearly done by him. And, you know, the most incredible thing is such faith in the artist. An incredibly delicate person, not destroying, but giving wings. For an artist, this is very important,» said actor Maxim Averin.
Vadim Yusupovich taught at VGIK until the very end, like his teacher Mikhail Romm. Now new filmmakers are growing who have graduated from Abdrashitov’s workshop. Perhaps pretty soon we will see familiar handwriting.

In recent years, the expression prestige, elevated and post-horror has appeared in Hollywood. They designate the paintings of Jordan Peele («Get Out», «Us») and Robert Eggers («The Witch», «The Lighthouse»). The third leader of the new horror wave is deservedly considered Ari Astaire, whose star was lit at the Sundance festival after the debut «Reincarnation». This is indeed a very inventive and solid film, where there are almost no obvious solutions. For example, closer to the middle, the central character seems to be blown off by a pillar, and the demon Paimon begins to appear in the plot, the motivation of which the director explains through the retelling of the tragedy of Sophocles. Further more. The action of his second picture — the surreal horror film «Solstice» — takes place mainly in bright daylight, takes about three hours and is dedicated to parting.
Which is pretty ironic, because there hasn’t been a better date movie (believe me) since then. Narcotic dope, exhausting round dances and the general chton of what is happening — it is interesting to understand all this together. And the meanings spoken by Aster, the family and the complexes associated with it, are the most important topic for dialogue with a loved one.
