Call of Duty’s cult classic game mode Gunfight may not be included at the launch of Modern Warfare 2 — but fans can rest easy knowing its return is in the pipeline.
Modern Warfare 2 was officially revealed on June 8 and two new round-based objective modes called Hostage and Knockout were announced.
Hostage is a 6v6 prisoner rescue experience that brings breaching and sieging gameplay to Call of Duty. Players have two prisoners to protect on one team, and the other team has to rescue them and bring them back. Rounds are won by either eliminating the enemies or saving the prisoners.

Knockout is a 2v2 or 3v3 one-life, best of five-game mode, that Activision coined as Gunfight meets core Multiplayer. Both teams fight to grab and hold a bag of cash and the last team holding the bag of cash wins. Players are able to be revived after being downed.
In many ways, Knockout is a spiritual successor to Gunfight, but fans of the original Gunfight won’t have to wait forever before jumping back into the original game mode.
Activision
Gunfight Face Off brings normal multiplayer modes to smaller maps that were made for Gunfight.
In a Q&A session with developers, it was revealed that Gunfight will return to Modern Warfare 2 “at some point,” as reported by GameSport.

It was first introduced in Modern Warfare 2019 and also made an appearance in Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty Mobile.
Gunfight is a 2v2 game mode with the goal of killing the enemy team within 40 seconds. If the time runs out, an overtime flag spawns for 10 seconds and both teams have a chance to capture the flag to win the round.
The first team to win six rounds wins the entire match.

Over its lifespan, several different iterations of the mode were introduced such as sniper-only, mele-only, custom load-outs, and even a snowball event.

By the end of Modern Warfare 2019, there were 19 Gunfight maps nine during Black Ops Cold War, and 11 in Call of Duty Mobile.

It is too early to tell if Gunfight in Modern Warfare 2 will receive anything even close to the support it did in other titles, but any sort of return is exciting news.

Gunfight is a 2 versus 2 team deathmatch with objectives.
Each side starts with the same loadout, with the weapons and equipment changing after every 2 rounds. Teams switch spawn points after every round. The team with the highest number of rounds won wins the match.
Overtime: Secure The Post
To win in Gunfight, a pair must defeat all enemies or succeed by capturing the objective. After a set amount of time, a flag appears in the middle of the map. The first pair to capture it wins. Should any side fail to capture the point within a specific time, the pair with the highest combined health wins.
2v2 Gunfight Variations
On-Site Procurement
A new variation to Gunfight is called On-Site Procurement (OSP). In OSP, you will not spawn with any weapons or equipment in your loadout. Instead, you will need to pick up items scattered around the map to arm yourself!
No Duplicate Weapons
Once you pick up a weapon, your teammate or the enemy team will not be able to get the same weapon. Hunt down a strong weapon to turn the tides of battle!

Weapon Spawns are Random
Weapons that spawn on the map are random.
You will need to make do with what you have!
Custom Gunfight
A more relaxed version of 2v2 Gunfight with all players being able to bring their custom loadouts into the match. Players can change loadouts before every round.

Memorize Each Map Layout
Although small, each map in 2v2 Gunfight has its own unique features and pecularities. Try to remember each map’s layout so you can use them to your advantage.

Go From Cover To Cover
A round is over once you get killed. Try to move from cover to cover when navigating the small maps. Also try to avoid covers that can be shot through as you can get killed while hiding behind them.
Health Does Not Regenerate
You cannot recover health in Gunfight even if you take cover after taking a tremendous amount of damage. Be wary of every encounter and try to use cover to minimize damage.
The combined health of both teams is always displayed on the top of the screen.
Communicate With Your Teammate
As you only have one other person in your team in Gunfight, share enemy info and location whenever possible and cover each other. Coordinate movements to outwit and outlast the enemy team!
Cover Both Sides
A viable strategy in Gunfight is to have each player split up to cover both sides. Use enemy footsteps to gauge your opponent’s distance!
Use The Objective As Bait
If both sides fail to eliminate each other after 40 seconds, a capture point will appear. The team that captures that position wins the round. Since it requires a few seconds to capture, you can use the objective as bait to lure out enemies.
Capitalize on Your Loadout’s Strengths
Although random, take advantage of the strengths of your loadout and use them effectively to eliminate the opposing pair. Always check your secondary after every weapon cycle to know viable strategies you can use.

On October 28, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to the popular 2019 shooter, was released on PC and consolesyear, which in turn was a reboot of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from 2007. The new versions of MW feature familiar characters, and the central theme remains the same — modern warfare. Only here the plot events are completely different. Other elements of the action — for example, the weapon upgrade system and multiplayer — also have changes.

The new game takes place in 2022: after a confrontation with the terrorist organization Al-Qatala, Captain John Price assembles a squad to fight radicals around the world.
This team, which includes, in addition to Price, Kyle Gaz Garrick, John Soap MacTavish and Simon Ghost Riley (heroes with the same names were also in the original games), operates with the support of the CIA and the US military.
The main villain is the Iranian militant Hassan Ziani, who sponsors terrorists and, together with mercenaries, rampages in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Urzikstan. But he also attracts the close attention of US intelligence and the main characters because, in addition to everything, he decides to send a ballistic missile to Washington. Representatives of the Mexican cartel are also involved in Hassan’s plan, with which the central characters will also have to fight. nine0003
However, the Western press speaks with restraint about such a story campaign. Access to the single-player mode for those who pre-ordered the shooter opened a week before the release, and therefore, by the time this article was written, there were already reviews on the network.
Thus, the IGN website reviewer gave the campaign 6 points out of 10, noting that it is interesting to shoot in this game, but not so much to follow the story.
In addition to the standard multiplayer modes familiar from previous parts of the franchise (deathmatch, «bomb» and so on), the creators of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came up with Knockout and Prisoner Rescue modes. In the first, the competing teams need to capture the package and lose as few fighters as possible. There were co-op missions in the Special Ops mode as well. In them, two players will have to complete the assigned tasks, while fighting with enemies under the control of AI. An update will also be released later, in which locations for three players will be added.
In addition, against the backdrop of the release of Modern Warfare 2, there will also be a restart of the Warzone battle royale. But the second part of the battle royale will be released later than the main game — on November 16.
At its core, the gun upgrade system has changed little — players, as before, need to upgrade this or that weapon, using it in online skirmishes, and thus unlock new body kits for it. I hope this text ends up becoming illegible, unlike the previous characters in Modern Warfare, which, to my dismay, many diligent people on the net took the time to translate and decipher. Either way, I still appreciate all the people who take a moment during the day to read random signs like this one. It is designed to add some authenticity to the world. It always makes me and the whole team happy when people appreciate the smallest details.

High-rise building in the embassy
Although not accessible by normal means, Embassy contains a reference to another fan favorite Modern Warfare 2 (2009). The high-rise from the original MW2 can be found atop a skyscraper in the distance, albeit without the iconic crane. While the area is not available in Modern Warfare 2 itself, it is used in Warzone 2.0’s DMZ mode along with other iconic locations in Al Mazra.

Reddit user /u/XWXS2 discovered that a fallen civilian on mission Ghost Team has the Neversoft logo tattooed on their arm.
Neversoft was the video game development studio that helped develop Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare as well as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. They eventually closed their studio and teamed up with Infinite Ward who developed eleven different Call of Duty games, including both Modern warfare 2 games. This easter egg was probably left behind by a developer involved in the merge.
Burger Town at Tradecraft
Burger Town is a fictional fast food franchise that has appeared in many different Call of Duty games since its introduction in the original. Modern Warfare 2 . The Burger Town restaurant can be found on the streets of Amsterdam at Craft mission, identified by its heavily inspired badge. nine0003
