  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash!
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal
  • Wild Arms

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Mr. Driller
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal

Werden noch weitere Spiele erscheinen? Nein.

How to play PS1, N64, NES games on SNES Classic Mini • Okie Doki

The retro console market is getting a bit crowded. Between Minis, Flashbacks and Classics, retro game consoles have never been so popular, both adults and children want to experience the old games.

The only problem is, with so many consoles to choose from, which one should you buy? Thanks to a tool called Hakchi2 CE, you only need one — the SNES Classic Mini, the faithful look of the Super Nintendo console from early 1990s. Let’s talk about how you can play N64, NES, PS1 games and more on this retro console.

Installing Hakchi2 CE and preparing SNES Mini

First you need to install the Hakchi2 CE tool on your PC, which you can download from the Hakchi2 GitHub repository.

Windows programs, mobile applications, games — EVERYTHING is FREE, in our closed telegram channel — Subscribe 🙂

Hakchi2 CE is only for Windows, so you need to create a Windows 9 virtual machine0003

on Linux if you are using that OS. Once downloaded and installed, open Hakchi and navigate to Kernel > Install/Repair ,

You will be asked if you want to flash your own kernel, so select yes , You may be asked to grant administrator rights, so accept it. A Windows command prompt will appear, installing drivers to interact with the SNES Mini. Once this is done, you will see the «Waiting for your NES/SNES Mini» window. Then you need to do the following:

  1. Switch the SNES Mini POWER button to the off position.
  2. Connect the SNES Mini to your computer with a micro-USB cable.
  3. Hold down RESET and then toggle the SNES Mini POWER button to on.
  4. Wait a few seconds, then release the RESET button.

The modified kernel will take a few minutes and your SNES Mini will reboot in the process.

If you experience problems, wait until the SNES Mini reboots and repeat the procedure. After successful installation, press OK.

Installing RetroArch and console modules

To emulate other console games, you need to install RetroArch on the SNES Mini, one of the most famous emulation libraries for Linux. This will allow you to play console games from other eras, including other Nintendo and PS1 consoles.

Go to Modules > Mod Store and then Retroarch tab. Select the latest RetroArch ‘Neo’ (probably the top entry) and click Download and Install Module.

The module library will be installed and your SNES Mini will reboot. Once installed, navigate to the Retroarks Kernel tab. «Kernels» are required to emulate each console. For N64, NES and PS1 you will need:

  • GLupeN64 for N64
  • NESTopia or FCEumm for NES
  • PCSX rearmed neon for PS1

You can follow the same process for any other console core provided by this tool, but you it is necessary to figure out which core is best for any game ROMs you want to play. Install each by selecting the kernel and pressing Download and install the module. The kernels will be installed and your SNES Mini will reboot.

You should be aware that PS1 game files are quite large compared to other consoles. You need to consider modifying the SNES Mini for additional storage with a microSD card, or getting yourself a USB OTG adapter with power and storage ports to connect it to the SNES Mini’s micro-USB port. This will allow you to use the USB stick instead.

If you have additional storage, go to Additional functionality tab and install Hakchi Memory Boost module. This will create a Linux swap file

on your SD card, which will improve performance on some N64 or PS1 class games.

Installing other console games

Once you have installed RetroArch and the appropriate console modules, you can start adding games from other consoles to your SNES mini. Due to copyright issues, we cannot provide you with any information on how to find the ROM files yourself.

If you have ROMs ready to install, close Mod Store and click Add more games at the bottom of the Hakchi2 CE window. Select ROM files and press open to prepare them for installation on the SNES Mini. Once you’ve done that, select the games under New Apps right click and click Download cover for selected games.

When you’re ready, press Sync Selected Games to NES / SNES Mini and your new games will be downloaded to the SNES mini’s internal memory. If you want to add them to your USB stick, click Export Games instead select your USB storage device. As soon as you connect this to your SNES Mini, the games will be detected automatically.

Mapping Console Keys

Now when you want to install games, you need to make sure that the correct keys for those console games are mapped to the correct keys on your chosen controller. For N64 and PS1, it is recommended to buy and use the Wii Classic Controller Pro to provide you with the best gaming experience.

To do this, turn off the SNES Mini and install it where you want to play. Turn it on and select one of your new games from the scrolling list to launch RetroArch. Once it loads press Select + Start on your controller, then go to Menu > Control . You can then select the controller type and optionally map individual keys to their emulated equivalents.

Once you have done this, simply press the back button (yellow to key on the standard SNES Mini controller) until you are back in the game and can start playing.

SNES Classic Mini: more than just SNES

Hakchi makes SNES more than just SNES. It will be the only retro game console you will ever need, and with its truly retro design, it won’t look out of place next to your TV.
