Minecraft neue biome: List of All New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update (2022)

List of All New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update (2022)

The Minecraft 1.18 update is still making news because of its game-changing world generation. But that’s not enough to keep players from getting excited about Minecraft 1.19: The Wild Update. Stakes are really high for this update after the success of 1.18, and from the looks of it, we won’t be disappointed. From new mobs to cool features, there’s a lot to look forward to with the upcoming version of Minecraft. But for now, let’s focus on the upcoming new biomes in Minecraft 1.19 update. Our list has some confirmed as well some speculated biomes you can expect to find in Minecraft Bedrock and Java Editions. But if you still haven’t gotten around to trying the last update, use our best Minecraft 1.18 seeds list to make the most out of it. With that said, let’s dive right in and explore all the new biomes Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update will have to offer.

New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19 Update (2022)

Our list of biomes isn’t ranked in any way. So, you can explore the different biomes as per your interest using the table below.

Table of Contents

Deep Dark Caves

As the name suggests, this biome was originally planned for the 1.18 Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update. But due to developmental delays, we will finally see this new biome in Minecraft 1.19 update. Deep dark caves are the most dangerous type of caves in the game. They spawn only below the Y=-1 level of height.

Unlike other cave biomes, including the recently added lush caves and dripstone caves seeds, deep dark caves won’t have any reliable light sources like lava. Though, you might find glowing lichen at certain locations within the cave. As for the mobs, you don’t have to worry about bumping into a creeper in the dark. The regular hostile mobs almost never spawn within the deep dark. However, there’s something more sinister (more on this below) that you should worry about in this darkness.

Ancient Cities

Within the deep dark caves, at times, you can encounter a structure called ancient cities. The easiest way to notice this structure is through iconic deep slate bricks and sculk blocks. Following the skulk blocks, at times, can lead you to a castle-like structure that is home to the Warden.

Warden is a highly threatening boss mob in Minecraft 1.19. It is also the first blind mob in the game. The Warden’s presence alone makes the deep dark caves one of the best new biomes in Minecraft 1.19 update. But defeating the Warden is no child’s play. It is immune to damage from fire, lava, and even drowning. Moreover, even fall damage and blast damage don’t affect it much.

In its territory, you get affected by a darkness effect, which reduces the in-game brightness for the player. Then, Warden attacks the player based on the sound and vibrations they make. It can kill you with just two hits, even if you have full netherite armor. So, unlike any other mob fight, you have to rely on stealth and game sense more than your combat skills. Lucky for you, we already have a guide in place to defeat the Warden in Minecraft.

New Swamp Biome

On the not so sinister side of things are the swamps in our list of new biomes in Minecraft. Yeah, we already have swamps in the game, but if we are being honest, no one likes them. Keeping that in mind, the developers at Minecraft are now giving us a new variant of the swamp biome.

But before we move on to that, the original swamps are also getting a new mob called Frogs in Minecraft. They also have eggs, tadpoles, and color variants that create a whole experience around them. You can even use frogs to make a new block called “Froglight” in the game. Additionally, swamps also spawn fireflies at nighttime, making them more welcoming than ever before.

Mangrove Swamp

As a variant of the swamp biome, the upcoming Minecraft 1.19 update is gifting us a mangrove swamp biome. It looks like a combination of jungle and swamp biomes. You can find mangrove trees, mud blocks, warm frogs, and fireflies in this biome. But among this bunch, the most interesting part of this biome is its trees.

Unlike existing trees in the game, the mangrove trees rely on a propagule to grow. And they are the first variety of trees that can grow underwater and also has roots. Moreover, you can see this tree adjust and wrap itself around the surroundings wherever it spawns or grows. If that sounds interesting, you can use our guide to know everything you need to know about the mangrove swamp biome.

Speculated New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19

Beyond the already confirmed biomes, there are a few rumors and speculations around other biomes too. Here’s a list of our guesses at the upcoming biomes and biome-based changes in the next update.

Birch Forest Concept Art from Minecraft 2021 Live

  • Birch forests can get a few additional features, and a structural revamp to make them more interesting. We are expecting hollow wood, taller trees, and new plants.
  • Jungle and swamp villages might also find a way into the game in the Minecraft 1.19 update. We already have models for villagers from both of these biomes in the game. And with the confirmation of mud huts and mangrove wood, we might see swamp villages, followed by jungle villages in the new update.

Get Ready to Explore New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19

Between Minecraft 1.18.2’s beautiful mountains seeds and Minecraft 1.19’s revamped wildlife, I am definitely a bigger fan of the latter. And since the update is in the early testing stage, we are just scratching the surface. Who knows what else we might discover as the release date inches closer. Meanwhile, we also have a guide to existing Minecraft biomes if you haven’t explored all of them yet. They look even better than usual if you turn on the best Minecraft 1.18.2 shaders in the latest update. Though, you might have to install Optifine in Minecraft 1.18 to get started. Coming back to the Minecraft 1. 19 update, there’s a lot to unpack here. So, don’t forget to tell us what more you expect from the new Wild update in the comments below. Who knows, your guessed feature might end up in the update, arriving later this year.

Minecraft 1.19 The Wild features

Minecraft

So you want to know about the Minecraft 1.19, The Wild update? First announced in October 2021, The Wild update is a major addition to the Java edition of the beloved sandbox game and it is now live.

The update includes a bunch of new features, from new biomes such as the Deep Dark and Mangrove swamp, new Minecraft mobs like The Warden and the allay mob, which won the Minecraft mob vote in 2021. The Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update also features new world generation such as ancient cities that spawn in the Deep Dark – an area that only spawns underground. The Deep Dark also features new items like echo shards and disc fragments.

You can make clay or mud brinks thanks to the new Mud block, which you craft by mixing soil with water. There’s also a new enchantment, and Frogs will debut during this update. Here’s everything we know about the Minecraft 1.19 release date, as well as a summary of the key features.

Deep dark biome

The new Deep Dark biome spawns underground within the Deepslate layer, and will come with new blocks, and can spawn things like Ancient cities. The Warden spawns in this biome.

Mud

You can get mud by pouring water on dirt – true both in real life, and when it comes to the new mud block. You can place a mud block on top of dripstone to drain the moisture out and turn it to clay, or you can turn it into mud bricks for a new building material.

Mangrove trees and mangrove swamp biome

The Wild will feature a major swamp update including mangrove trees. Mangrove trees will grow from propagules which can be planted underwater or on land, and they’ll grow up into big masses of root blocks with vines hanging down around them. You can harvest them for a new wood type. You’ll also find full-on mangrove swamp biomes.

Boats with chests

Perhaps most importantly, we’re also getting boats with chests in them – pretty self-explanatory. The devs suggest the wider rivers introduced with the new world generation features will be a perfect excuse to take your storage-enhanced boats out for a spin.

Allay mob

The allay mob, which won the vote, will be part of 1.19 too. It’s a small blue fairy-like creature that collects items for you and loves to dance.

Frogs

Frogs will start as tadpoles (which you can put into a bucket), and grow into one of three variant frogs – snowy, swamp, or tropical – based on the temperature of the biome they mature in. Frogs will hop toward lily pads when they can – they might also be tempted into a fall by dripleaves.

Originally, Frogs were going to be able to eat another planned new addition in 1.19 – Fireflies. It was revealed however that these luminous bugs weren’t going to be introduced in The Wild update after all. They may still turn up in a future release, but probably as their own thing.

What awaits us in Minecraft 1.17? Underground biomes and sonar!

Finally got around to writing a complete review of the innovations that await us in the new Minecraft update JE and BE 1.17 — Caves & Cliffs.

Update

Minecraft Live showed us some of the upcoming features and changes, and shared some information. At the moment, it is known that the update will be released presumably in the summer of 2021, and its main changes will affect caves and the mountain biome. nine0003

Generation Changes

Lush Caves

One of the new underground biomes shown was Lush Caves. In this place you can see an abundant amount of various vegetation, including new ones. Berries, spores, grass covers, new types of vines, all this is just a part of what we were shown on the broadcast.

Dripstone Caves

Another new biome, which, unlike the previous one, boasts the proud title of the largest of all announced. This is a place teeming with a whole galaxy of small rivers and streams, due to which a huge number of stalagmites and stalactites form in caves of this type. The latter, when falling, can cause fatal damage. Be careful. nine0004

The Deep Dark

The most mysterious biome of all. We only know that it will be possible to find it only at a fairly great depth, and its caves will become home to a new mob called Warden. Any light source in this biome tends to fade from time to time, and the sound will be far from the last value.

Improved cave generation

Developers have improved the generation of caves by changing the very system of their creation. Now the caves will be completely different sizes and shapes. They will be able to intertwine with each other in various ways, and differences in the local water level will create attractive waterfalls and streams. nine0004

Amethyst Geodes

Underground, players can also find small enclosed caves made of amethyst geodes. This is a special block on which amethyst crystals can sprout once in a while. Amethysts will come in handy for various future crafts, such as, for example, a telescope.

Improved mountain generation

Very little is known about the new mountains. The developers are still looking for the best option on how to change them, which means you should be skeptical about their screenshots. nine0004

New blocks

Sculk Growth

New plant with very interesting mechanics. Can only be found in the biome — The Deep Dark. It acts as a sensor, so to speak, that reacts to any sound and noise in the vicinity. Due to the fact that this plant emits a redstone signal when it detects sound, for the first time wireless transmission of a redstone signal at a distance became possible.

Copper

Yes, finally a new metal officially appears in the game. Moreover, this will be the first ore that will experimentally spawn with whole veins, which is why standard ore search strategies will not be as effective. nine0004

While copper is regarded as a building block, and therefore has many derived blocks, such as copper blocks, semi-blocks and slabs.

Lightning rod

Lightning rod can also be made from copper. This block will attract all the lightning in the area, which means it can be used to protect wooden buildings.

Archeology

Not without surprises. Mojang showed how a new craft in Minecraft — archeology — could look like. Now in some parts of the world with the help of brushes it will be possible to find objects of ancient people, such as pieces of ceramics, or even some valuable expensive blocks. nine0004

Ceramics can be placed on earthenware pots to create beautiful art objects. After firing, the pots are ready to decorate your interiors. Whether there will be any other functionality for them is still unknown.

New mobs

Warden

Inhabitant of The Deep Dark biome. As far as is known, it is guided by sound sensors, which means it reacts to any noise in the area, including steps. Luckily, he can be outmaneuvered and distracted, such as with snowballs or arrows. But be careful. Warden is so strong that even full Netherite armor won’t save you from his devastating blows. nine0004

Axolotl

A new amphibian that can be found in underground lakes. You can catch it in a bucket and release it at the right time, setting it on the mobs you need. It will also protect you from your possible opponents.

Mountain goat

Goats live in the mountains and can jump high. And this is basically all that is known about them. Ah… well, yes, they can butt heads too 🙂

Glow Squid

During the broadcast of Minecraft Live, a vote was in full swing on the game’s Twitter, where viewers chose a new mob that will be added in 1.17. As a result, the luminous octopus won. All we know is that these mobs will live in the deep ocean and underground caves, and their tentacles will be our guide in those dark waters. nine0004

New Items

Telescope

Telescope is a new item that will surely appeal to Minecraft explorers and travelers. It is made from amethysts and copper, and allows you to look at the area from afar.

Bags

Another new item in the update is a carry bag. With it, you can transfer completely different items in a total amount, presumably, no more than 64 items.

Conclusion

Let me remind you that what was shown on Minecraft Live is only a small part of the whole update that awaits us in ~ 8 months. Remembering Minecon 2019, where we were shown the Nether Update, you can see that neither the bastions, nor the basalt deltas, nor the netherite with lavomers were shown to us then, which means we can assume that the most delicious was stopped for us later. It remains only to wait for the first snapshots, because Mojang still has a long and thorny path to develop the update.

More details and speculation

What was cut out again

Promised pouches and Deep Dark biome will not be in 1. 18. Archeology will not return in 1.19, it will sometime later.

The main reason for such a fierce fakap on the part of the developers is the mountains. According to them, due to the increase in the height of the world and the new generation of mountains, they had to redo the entire generation of the world in general in order to make the transitions look natural. nine0004

Also, Caves & Cliffs Part 2, coming out this winter, will be the biggest update ever for this game.

What about the new update?

1.19 will be called The Wild Update. It is there that we will see the updated Deep Dark, as well as the previously promised swamps (more on everything below)

Deep Dark

Now this is not the usual biome that was shown at Minecraft Live 2020, but entire underground cities. It will be possible to find various treasures and rock blocks in them. nine0004

Sculk Catalyst

Block responsible for spreading the rolling pin. If a mob dies next to it, then it starts the process of reproduction, similar to the mechanics of moss, added in 1.17 (scalk replaces the blocks around). The amount of rolling pin distributed depends on the amount of experience dropped from the mob.

From the fragment shown on the show, we can see that he distributes the usual rock blocks, something like vines and rock sensors. All of these blocks can be mined, including the Catalyst itself. nine0004

Sculk Shrieker

And here the most interesting begins. If you activate a rock sensor and this thing is next to it, will the sensor send a signal to it, which will bring up Shrieker? into action.

The triggering of this block will be marked by a shout. A new effect of darkness (Darkness) will be superimposed on the player, greatly limiting the view. The effect is somewhat similar to the blindness that already exists in the game, but more creepy.

This block can also be mined. It is not known whether the Catalyst, about which I wrote above, can generate them. nine0004

But the fun begins when you activate this block too often. In this case, you will wake Varden.

Warden

A previously familiar mob that kills you in full non-zerite armor in 2 hits. He can be distracted by throwing snowballs or eggs, because he is blind and reacts to vibrations. But even so, you cannot be safe just by standing still.

Varden can smell you, so he always moves slowly towards you, and will eventually kill you if you don’t take action. nine0004

Unknown if he can be killed; it is not known how the developers are going to deal with the abuse of his murder, such as building a column of blocks for themselves or closing in a wall.

Updated Biomes

Birch forest

All we know about him is this concept art.

According to the developers, they want to focus on biome diversity in the game, so it is likely that in future updates we will see more and more variations of old biomes. nine0004

Swamp/Mangrove Swamp

This is a new swamp biome with a bunch of new features, many of which were already known to the players.

In a nutshell, in case anyone forgot, the 2019 biome update vote was won by the mountains, leaving swamp and mesa updates out of the picture. The developers promised that the losing biomes would also be added to the game, just sometime in the indefinite future.

Toads/Frogs/Toads/It’s Wednesday my dudes

Temperate toads

Toads like to jump on water lilies and big toads (parkour blocks added in 1.17 that throw the player off if you stand on them for a long time), maybe with this knowledge it will be possible to somehow manipulate their movement.

What drops from them is unknown, it is likely that toads will perform the same function as bats — none, except for adding atmosphere to the game, respectively, and they will not have a drop (This conclusion is the opinion of the author of the article and does not reflect the actual intentions of the developers™) .

When breeding, toads lay tadpoles. Depending on the temperature in which the tadpoles grow up, adult toads will have a different color. One of the three is shown above, the rest below.

Fireflies

Small mobs? flying around. Most likely they will be implemented simply as particles. It is not entirely clear how they will work, whether it will be possible to multiply them, transfer them, and how to get rid of them if they are not needed. The developers did not give any information about this. nine0004

But they are eaten by toads.

Mangrove

A new type of trees. They have unique foliage, structure, and even roots in the form of blocks that can be mined. It is also the first type of tree that can be grown both underwater and on land.

The texture of such trees is very much like a tropical tree, they say it on every corner, so I can say with confidence that the developers will redraw its texture in the future. This is a normal practice, this has happened more than once. nine0004

Mangrove blocks

Mud

If you use a water bottle on a dirt block, turn it into a new dirt block.

Also, if you place dirt over a block that has a stalactite hanging from it, over time the dirt will turn into clay. After two thousand years, we will finally be able to make clay farms. Ave mozhang!

Mud can also be used to create bricks. They look cool, but they didn’t show us different variations, maybe we’ll see them in future snapshots. nine0004

Boats with chests

These are boats with chests that were promised to be added in the aforementioned vote. Do you really need details?

Mangrove Swamp

This is a new biome made up of mud and mangroves. Looks very cool.

Most likely it will be a new biome, and not a replacement for an existing swamp. I made this conclusion based on footage with frogs, because there they are shown in a classic biome. Elementary Watson! nine0004

Voting for moba

Allay won the vote. A flying thing that can pick up items (but not take from chests / dupe / steal from players). Picks up the same items you give him, but no more than one type of item at a time. The maximum can carry a stack is even if the items don’t stack .

He gives items in exchange for the sound of a note block. The developers say that each of these creatures can somehow be tied to the block you need. nine0004

And now for speculation and thoughts

Firstly, Mojang really heavily fuxed Caves & Cliffs, at the cost of which we first lost the new generation in 1.17, and now we have taken away Deep Dark and item bags in 1.18, and archeology has disappeared from sight altogether.

Of course, when at the very beginning of the show the developers said that they would not add Deep Dark to 1.18, I was very upset, but at the cost of an indistinct, incomprehensible biome, we got huge underground cities. nine0004

We sacrificed time again, but in return, I think we will get something better. After the presentation of the new Deep Dark, we have more details on how skalk and Varden work in general. Questions, of course, remained, but we already see the outlines of the picture before our eyes.

And for the first time in a long time, developers are improving the game not in depth, but in breadth. I’ll explain now.

For a very long time, each update does not add anything new to the game, but only improves the old. Updates to the Nether, caves, mountains, villages, ocean and more. Naturally, we get new blocks, new mechanics like elytras and shulkers, but I’m talking about something global. nine0236 Deep Dark and Skalk are completely new systems that were not previously in the game . It’s very cool and I like the movement in this direction.

Exactly I also like the fact that the developers finally decided to keep their promises.

Remember I wrote about voting on adding new biomes? In addition to the mountains, there was another in which the taiga won.
