Creative Minecraft Fan Designs Awesome Game Boy Shader

Minecraft player creates a nostalgia-riddled shader that makes the game look exactly like it’s running on a Game Boy and it’s definitely worth a try.
A Minecraft player has created their own shader and it makes the game looks just like it would on the original Game Boy. Minecraft fans are extremely inventive and creative and always manage to come up with some of the most impressive creations out there. At a first glance, it may seem like it’s just a pretty simple survival game that gamers, but the truth is that there’s much more than meets the eye. There are so many different ways to play it, Minecraft has nearly infinite replayability.
Gamers can try to survive in this world, but they can also focus on building and designing and creating. Minecraft enables players to let their imaginations run wild by giving them various tools with its extensive creative content capabilities as well as the endless possibilities that it provides to the modding community.

The game’s subreddit is filled with fans that regularly share their awesome Minecraft builds and mods. This week a member of the subreddit shared a creation with the community that completely blew them away. Reddit user Tuckertcs had to create a shader for a Computer Graphics class, and so they decided to make a Game Boy shader for Minecraft.
This shader tries to emulate the original Game Boy’s LCD green graphics, and it’s beautifully replicated. Of course, the shader isn’t going to fit everyone’s preference, but it can give those that had one of these older Game Boys a sense of nostalgia while playing Minecraft. Alternatively, for players that would rather get the game to look like the opposite of this, it’s possible to install a mod that will make Minecraft look as realistic as possible.
Gamers interested in downloading this shader can do so by accessing its GitHub link which is simply titled Game Boy Shader. The README file contains additional information on the shader works in order to get Minecraft graphics to have increased pixel size, only appear in shades of green, and look like the game is running on a Game Boy. This shader doesn’t modify anything besides the game’s graphics; another way to get a new feeling with the game would be to try and completely change Minecraft into a 2D platform with a fun new mod.
In the comments section, players’ responses were extremely positive, and they couldn’t but joke that this might just be how Creepers see the world around them; the textures and colors of the shader are quite similar to those of a Creeper. The truth is Minecraft has been around for a long time but the community is still incredibly active and coming up with new things to innovate and keep the game feeling fresh.
It’s never too late to give Minecraft a first chance or get back to it.

A user under the nickname ScarlettTheHamster posted a demonstration of the GameBoy emulator in Minecraft on the official Reddit gaming community.
According to the enthusiast, the work took about 4 and a half months:
I’ve been working on no bit manipulation, using simple arithmetic and the modulo (%) operator to split the bits into separate result table values and put them back together again.
By itself, this is not difficult, but it certainly increases the slowness in work! The scoreboard and its scores (and NBT) are basically the only «variables» I have to fiddle with. They are very important for the operation of the emulator or any data package, as you can imagine variables.
He was also asked when we will have a Minecraft emulator in Minecraft, to which he seriously replied:
Depends on the version of the game you are talking about. I believe there is a fan made homemade GBA game that is a voxel making game. If we’re talking officially, you’ll probably have to emulate the 3DS for the best results.
