  2. Set desired FPS Limit in Mafia.WidescreenFix.ini.

Notes

High FPS causes several issues.
  • Cars have unusually good traction, this results in much relaxed steering than intended.
  • It can be almost impossible to fully park car at mission marker without turning its engine off (game still thinks it’s moving).
  • NPCs can get stuck on any elevated surfaces e.g. sidewalks, stairs, this can break any mission with NPC companions and cause Trams to stay in one place waiting for passenger indefinitely.

Analog control when using SteamInput

By default, using SteamInput disables the game’s native analog controller support by mapping joysticks using XInput.[citation needed]
Xidi translates XInput calls back to DirectInput, restoring analog functionality.

  1. Download newest dgVoodoo 2.
  2. Extract dgVoodooCpl.exe, dgVoodoo.conf, MS\x86\d3d8.dll into <path-to-game> (extract d3d9.dll instead of d3d8.dll if using the Widescreen Fix)
  3. Start dgVoodooCpl.exe and set Output API to Direct3D 12 (usually the highest feature level, unless you’re experiencing issues) in the General tab, under Rendering.
  4. Uncheck dgVoodoo Watermark in the DirectX tab, under Miscellaneous.

Free Ride Extreme frame rate bugs

The Exploding Celeste and Bridge Bombing Zeppelin missions have a bug that makes completion difficult when playing at a frame rate above 15-20 FPS.[15]
Limit frame rate to 15-20 FPS[16]
  1. Install Mafia Widescreen Fix.
  2. Open Mafia.WidescreenFix.ini.
  3. Change FPS Limit = 0 to FPS Limit = 15.

Download audio files from the original game[23]
For those who don’t have the original version installed.
  1. Download the mafia-sounds.zip archive.
  2. Extract the sounds directory to the <path-to-game>.
Use original game’s sounds archives[23]
This will change a language of the game’s character’s voices to English, when playing one of the fully localized version (eg. French or German).
  1. Download the mafia_missing_dta_files_eng.zip archive or copy both .dta files listed below from the CD version of Mafia.
  2. Extract a0.dta and ab. dta to the <path-to-game>.
  3. Delete the sounds folder from the same folder.
Copy the audio files from the original game[23]
The following requires a copy of the original version
Doesn’t restore the scripted music played during specific missions. For example the band on the boat during the mission Happy Birthday! may appear to dance and sing but remain silent due to missing song file.
  1. Install the digital version and CD version of Mafia.
  2. Download MafiaDataXtractor.
  3. Copy MafiaDataXtractor.exe to the CD version’s installation folder.
  4. Open MafiaDataXtractor.exe and select ab.dta - Music from the list. Wait for the program to extract .ogg files.
  5. When extracting is finished, copy the sounds folder to the digital version’s installation folder.

Modifications

Mafia Water Shader Mod (updated) — Makes water reflect and refract on the city; there is also a simplified Fresnel effect.
Xbox Rain Droplets — Basic implementation of Xbox rain droplets from SkyGFX.
Footpath & Road Mod — Changes roads, sidewalks and parking textures to be better and more realistic. Requires MafiaDataXtractor to extract maps folder to Mafia folder.
Mafia Community Modpack — Collection of carefully chosen graphic mods improving the game visuals, maintaining the game atmosphere.
Mafia Retextured — Changes textures to the higher quality counterparts, remade from the scratch, but retain the atmosphere of the original ones.
Busy Mod — More traffic, more pedestrians and therefore a more crowded city. Vehicles can now have passengers inside.
High quality characters mod — There are two types of character models in the game. Detailed, which we see in all cutscenes and the ordinary ones that we have the opportunity to admire during normal gameplay. The modification replaces those visible during the game with those visible in cutscenes.
Interface renovation — The modification improves the quality of fonts and the arrangement of some menu items. Polish language version of the game required (although it is possible that it also works with English) and patch 1.2
Updated interface — Interface textures created from scratch in high quality.

Heute veröffentlicht Hangar 13 ein Update für Mafia: Definitive Edition auf PlayStation®4, Xbox One und PC. Dieses Update behebt ein paar Probleme, die von Spielern gemeldet wurden, und fügt die folgenden neuen Features hinzu:

  • Eigene HUD-Optionen

  • Inhalte für Freifahrt
    Du bist vielleicht schon im Rennen und genießt den Freifahrt-Modus. Deshalb fallen dir abhängig vom Fahrzeug, mit dem du unterwegs bist, ein paar neue Gameplay-Funktionen auf, um die wir den Modus erweitert haben. Wir lassen dich das aber selbst rausfinden und wünschen dir gute Fahrt in Lost Heaven.

Mafia: Definitive Edition hat in diesem Update unter anderem die folgenden Fehlerbehebungen erhalten:

  • Ein gemeldeter Fehler wurde behoben, durch den nach Abschließen der optionalen Missionen von Lucas Bertone nicht die korrekten Fahrzeuge in der Spielergarage freigeschaltet wurden. Spieler, die diese Missionen abgeschlossen haben, sollten beim nächsten Spielstart die korrekten Fahrzeuge in ihrer Garage finden.
  • Ein gemeldeter Fehler wurde behoben, durch den in der Mission „Der Heilige und der Sünder“ eine besondere Auftragsmord-Animation manchmal nicht korrekt ausgelöst wurde.
  • Ein gemeldeter Fehler wurde behoben, durch den bestimmte Zwischensequenzen manchmal nur einen schwarzen Bildschirm zeigten.

2K Games and developer studio Hangar 13 have released the first update for the remake of gangster action movie Mafia: Definitive Edition . Now available for download on all platforms, the update fixes some bugs and adds a number of useful features to the game.

One of the main innovations of the patch is an advanced interface customization that allows you to customize it as you wish. Among the options to be disabled, there are indicators of the main tasks, marks of enemies (at all difficulty levels), turn-by-turn hints and display of routes. Hardcore players can now opt for the most lightweight UI, which lacks the speedometer, mini-map, and mission descriptions .

The second important detail of the update was the « Noir » mode, thanks to which you can now play the game in vintage black and white style. After activating the corresponding parameter, the picture of «Mafia» becomes similar to the classic gangster films of the 30s. nine0003

The authors also added several new gameplay features to the « Walk » mode, which will appear depending on the chosen transport and direction. What exactly is being discussed, the developers do not say, leaving this a surprise for the players .
