Episode 3 Photo Collectible Locations

There are plenty of hidden collectibles to find in Life is Strange. These optional photo opportunities are scattered about each episode, with some requiring Max to make specific decisions, or the chance to take the picture won’t appear.

There are 10 Photo collectibles to get in Life is Strange, Episode 3: Chaos Theory. Don’t worry if some were missed, as any episode can be repeated from the main menu in «Collectible Mode» to search for missed photo opportunities without affecting previous player choices. Each picture will pop its own Trophy/Achievement, and once all ten have been found, the «Camera Eye» Trophy/Achievement will also unlock.

Optional Photo Opportunity 1 — Action Figure (Victoria’s Dorm Room)

Max must first discover that Victoria is not in her dorm room to get the first optional photo opportunity in Episode 3 of Life is Strange, in order to unlock the «Parallax» Trophy/Achievement. To do this, either enter the showers to speak with Taylor, or talk to Dana in her room. Make sure to be sympathetic to both of them, or they won’t tell Max about Victoria.

After talking to one of them, go to the glowing action figure located left of Victoria’s laptop to take a photo. If Max can’t take the picture, look in the trash can by the laptop and read the text of the action figure’s box.

Optional Photo Opportunity 2 — Squirrel (Outside Girls’ Dormitory)

After leaving the dormitory, head past the steps where Max decided to make fun of Victoria or comfort her and turn right. Head toward lights in the distance and stop beside the squirrel and fireflies. Next, rewind time as far back as possible. Max will now be able to take a picture of the squirrel and unlock the «Lenscrafted» Trophy/Achievement.

Players might remember Max taking a similar picture of a squirrel while looking for the collectible photo opportunities in Episode 1 of Life is Strange, and Episode 2.

Optional Photo Opportunity 3 — Fish Tank (Science Classroom)

Once Max is in Blackwell Academy at night with Chloe, head to the same science classroom players took an optional photo of Warren in Episode 2 of Life is Strange. Go to the fish tank at the opposite side to the entrance, and turn its light on. Max can now take a photo to pop «The Reflex» Trophy/Achievement.

Optional Photo Opportunity 4 — Skeleton (Science Classroom)

After snapping a picture of the fish tank, head to the back of the science classroom to locate a Skeleton with a cigarette in its mouth. Get close enough to show to prompt allowing Max to take a photo and unlock the «Histogrammar» Trophy/Achievement.

Optional Photo Opportunity 5 — Chloe (Principal’s Office)

Once Max and Chloe get inside principal Wells’ office, Chloe will sit in his seat by the computer. Get close to her in order to get the «Photo» prompt to appear. Taking a picture of Chloe will pop the «Bokeh» Trophy/Achievement. After collecting evidence, players must make an important choice in Life is Strange regarding Chloe’s debt with Frank.

Optional Photo Opportunity 6 — Mirror (Chloe’s House)

Players need to wait until Max has changed into Rachel’s clothes in order to get this optional photo opportunity. This same outfit can be seen in Life is Strange: Before the Storm when Rachel wears it at Chloe’s. Once Max is changed, leave Chloe’s room and go into the bathroom opposite. Look at the mirror and take a picture to unlock the «Pinholed» Trophy/Achievement.

Optional Photo Opportunity 7 — Bird (Chloe’s Garden)

This optional photo will take a bit of work to unlock. If players mess up at any point, they can restart the checkpoint from the pause menu and try again. First, talk to Joyce, who will have different dialogue, depending on if players decided to blame Chloe or take the blame during Episode 1 of Life is Strange. Next, head to the tall cabinet next to the door that leads to the garage. Press the «Scare» prompt to shoo the bird to the fireplace.

Scare the bird at the fireplace again, and as long as the window is open, it will go outside. Go out into the garden and walk to the fence opposite. Players can now take an optional photo of the bird to get the «RAW Strength» Trophy/Achievement.

Optional Photo Opportunity 8 — Red Truck (Outside Two Whales Diner)

When Max and Chloe get to the Diner, Max will be able to explore the area before heading inside. Talk to the trucker by the right-hand entrance to the diner and speak to him about Rachel Amber. If Max tries to take a picture of his truck after this, the trucker will shout at her.

Players must rewind time, and then talk to the trucker with the new prompt about his vehicle. An optional photo can now be taken of the truck to unlock the «Viewfinder» Trophy/Achievement.

Optional Photo Opportunity 9 — Dead Bird and Ants (Outside Two Whales Diner)

After speaking with the trucker, go into the alleyway near him. There is a dead bird surrounded by ants on the left-hand side of the alley, near the wall of the diner. Max needs to be very close to get the «Photo» prompt. Once the picture is taken, players will get the «Optician» Trophy/Achievement.

Once inside the diner, Frank will act differently toward Max, depending on if she decided to shoot Frank or not during Episode 2 of Life is Strange.

Optional Photo Opportunity 10 — Chloe and Her Dad (Flashback to Chloe’s House)

Players must take a photo of Chloe and her dad during Max’s flashback to unlock the «Flash!» and «Camera Eye» Trophies/Achievements. Pick up the camera to Chloe’s left, and Max will automatically take the picture. After this scene has played out, Max’s story in Life is Strange will change in a big way, but there will still be optional photo opportunities to take while playing Episode 4.

Finding the ten photo opportunities in every episode of Life is Strange will lead to a very easy Platinum Trophy, or full Gamerscore, as they are the only optional unlockables in the game.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia, with a Switch version releasing later in 2022.

The first photo can be taken in the first chapter of the episode. Enter Victoria’s room and approach the phosphorescent figurine standing on the dresser. Take a picture of the figurine to add the first photo to your collection.

The second photo can be taken in the first chapter. Right after leaving the dormitories head toward the bench, as shown in the picture. You will find the familiar squirrel. In order to take a photo of it you have to approach the bench and rewind time. This way the squirrel will not have run off, letting you take the photo.

The third photo situation is in the second chapter. While in the chemistry lab, approach the aquarium shown in the picture, and turn its light on. The take a photo option will appear right after doing that.

The fourth photo is in the chemistry lab. Right next to sodium chlorate that you find on the closet, there is a skeleton, as shown in the picture. Approach it to take a photo of it and expand your collection.

The fifth photo is in the headmaster’s office. First, look at the bronze statue on the desk, and then look at Chloe to see the option of taking a photo of her.

The next photo can be taken in Chloe’s house. Right after leaving her room, instead of going downstairs, head to the bathroom and look in the mirror. You will be able to take the sixth photo.

Another photo is a tricky one. In order to take it you have to perform a series of steps. Right after going down to the kitchen and meeting Joyce, open the window and scare off the bird sitting on the fridge on the left from the window. After scaring the bird away, approach the cabinet next to the TV and do the same. The next step is to scare it away from the fire place, so it finally flies outside through the window. Go outside to the yard and approach the place shown in the picture. This is where you can take a photo of the bird.

When you get to the diner, talk to the truck driver standing by the building. No matter which dialogue option you choose, he does not want to talk to you. Rewind time and use his words against him by selecting option 1977 Needham. Stunned, the driver will let you take a photo of his truck, so turn around to find the vehicle on the other side of the road.

Control

Character movements are carried out with the cursor keys. With the mouse, you can view 360°. If you chose the wrong answer and get stuck, you can rewind time and choose the answer that will move your progress further. If you have performed an incorrect action, then when you press the key « Ctr » You quickly undo your previous action by rewinding time.

Pressing the » Esc » key will take you to the game menu . To get acquainted with the purpose of the keys, select the «How to play» option in the game menu.

Pressing the Tab key opens our heroine’s journal. At the top there are tabs, when clicked, we get into various sections.

Diary

In her diary, Max describes all the events that happen to her. I advise you to read these entries from time to time, because. on the right on the yellow sticker, Max writes priority tasks for himself.

Character photos

When you meet a new playable character, their picture is automatically included in the magazine. If you click on a character’s photo, you can read his description.

Photographs Max

Photographing objects is only allowed if prompted to do so. In the album, Max has little sketches-hints on where exactly you can take photos. True, you need to correctly guess what exactly can be photographed, because. this option only appears if Max is in a certain position from which the object can be shot. Some of the photographs taken by Max end up on the pages of her diary.

Evidence folders

When objects, records or documents are found that can later serve as evidence, they automatically fall into this folder. To see what evidence we found in a particular location, click on the desired photo of the desired location, and view the evidence found in it in the form of documents or objects.

SMS messages

When a new SMS message is received, a notification about it appears in the lower right corner. Press the key « Tab » and get into this section. Max automatically starts a correspondence with the character who sent her this message. You can choose not to reply right away, but view the messages later.

Inventory is not provided in the game. If we find the thing we need , then it is reflected in the upper right corner of the screen until it is used.

Saves (saves) the function « autosave » is used.

The game is non-linear and the development of the plot entirely depends on the actions you choose . Questions and answers have little effect on the passage. Sometimes you have to rewind time several times to get the information you need from the character.

After the introductory video, which recalls some of the events that occurred in previous episodes, we find Max in his room.

We receive an SMS from Chloe. Before we go to meet our friend, let’s first feed the rabbit we borrowed from Kate while her friend is in the hospital. We approach the cage with the rabbit, and give him carrot . We approach our table, and turn on notebook . We look through the latest news . We turn the pages further, and study the list of missing. We find messages for Kate from classmates. On the next page we read messages from classmates addressed to us. We move away from the table, read the SMS received from the mother. We leave the room.

Corridor

Max automatically turns on the lights using his phone as a flashlight, because the hallway is dark. We follow the exit and pay attention to the fact that the police for some reason closed access at room Kate, although the girl is still alive. The chalkboard near the door now has words of sympathy for Kate. We move further along the corridor and notice that door to Dana’s room is open, we go into it.

Dana’s room

We speak with Dana (the choice of phrases does not matter) and learn that Victoria is currently not in the hostel. We come up with the idea to search Victoria’s room.

Corridor

Exit Dana’s room and go to Victoria room . The room was not locked. We push the door and enter the room.

Victoria’s room

Looking around. We search table, on which the printer stands. We find on it a photograph of from the party, which shows that Kate is not at all happy. We approach the chest of drawers to the left of Victoria’s desktop, open drawer . We look at the photo of Nathan and Victoria. We look into Victoria’s laptop , read it correspondence with Taylor. It seems that the girls are sincerely remorseful for their cruel behavior towards Kate. We notice Victoria’s bag , and also search it. We find in it Victoria’s homework with an excellent grade. We leave Victoria’s room and leave hostel .

Dormitory Courtyard

Heading towards the courtyard exit, we almost run into the drunk Principal who is trying to open the door of his mansion. Let’s rewind time. Quickly make our way to the exit until rector fumbles with the keys. We leave for the main campus .

Main campus. Evening

We go forward along the path, and Chloe jumps out to meet us. We are talking with a friend that we need to find out who almost killed Kate and prevent this from happening again.

Chloe shows us the spare keys to the front door of the academy. We follow forward, and suddenly we hear voices at the door of the academy. Hiding, eavesdropping conversation between Victoria and Mr. Jefferson. When they disperse in different directions, we automatically enter the academy, and Chloe unlocks the rector’s reception room.

Rector’s Reception

We speak with Chloe, who does not have the keys to the rector’s office in her hands. She asks Max to look for keys at the reception. After this request, the items become active for viewing. Pull out and search all drawers . We examine housekeeper on the wall, but keys from the rector’s office are not there either. We search table in the reception room, and turn around to the cabinets. We open the drawers, look into the cardboard box . Having finished inspection of room , we inform Chloe that we have not found the keys. While Chloe is trying to break down the door to the Principal’s office, Max decides to call Warren and ask him for help.

We receive an SMS message from Warren, in which he lists the necessary ingredients. We go in search of them.

Corridor

We find the soda can in the vending machine. We move further along the corridor and approach chemistry room .

Chemistry room

Inspecting the teacher’s chair. We study Warren’s test paper , change his grade. This action will have consequences. We pick up a pack of sugar from the pulpit , and head to the aquarium with fish. Turn on the light, take shot. Then we turn off the light so as not to disturb the fish. We approach Warren’s desk, look into chemistry textbook .

Scroll through the textbook and learn that sodium chlorate is a herbicide used to control weeds. We turn around and head to the closet at the end of the office. On the cabinet we see a jar of herbicide . We examine it and take a jar of sodium chlorate. We leave the chemistry room and head down the corridor to our classroom.

Author’s note . If you have added a new episode, and want to save your choice in the game, then I suggest doing the following. Go to the folder (for Windows 8.1.) C:\Users\admin\Documents\My Games\Life Is Strange\Saves . Saves (saves) for Windows 10 are located at C:\Users\userDocuments\My Games\Life Is Strange\Saves. Save these saves in a separate folder and delete the game. Then install the game already with the episode you need, open this folder again and paste the previous saves (saves) into it.

Warning : when using a downloaded save, remember that you will have the author’s version of the game, and your personal achievements will be lost.

Darkroom

After the intro video, move the mouse to make Max wake up. We are back in control. We look around the room. If you failed to convince Victoria , then we will see her on the floor and also tied up.
