LA Noire Street Crimes explained: What to expect from each Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson side-quest

LA Noire Street Crimes are optional side-quests as you work cases in 1940s Los Angeles.

LA Noire Street Crimes explained
In addition to the story cases there are a number of lesser crimes that need attending to around the streets of LA, with each desk having its own set.
You can allow them to appear «naturally» via a random radio message whilst driving around during a story mission, but if you want to be certain of clearing them all it’s simpler to wait until you’ve cleared all the story cases for a Desk, then quitting to the main menu, going to Cases, and selecting The Streets of LA (Free Roam) from that desk’s case list.
The crimes will now be marked on your map, allowing you to fast travel to them. This has the added advantage that for any cases that involve a car chase you won’t be penalised for causing mayhem!
Street Crimes on the Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson desks
The cases themselves are all fairly simple — a chase on foot or in a car, a shootout, or a mix of two, and one that involves tailing a suspect — so rather than go into great detail for each one we’ve just provided a list and an indication of what to expect when you get there.
Traffic Street Crimes
- Amateur Hour: Shootout followed by chase on foot.
- Army Surplus: Shootout.
- Boxing Clever: Chase on foot.
- Cosmic Rays: Chase on foot. (The objective says not to harm the suspect, but will be marked as completed whatever the outcome.)
- Death from Above: Shootout.
- Gangfight: Shootout.
- Hotel Bandits: Car chase followed by shootout.
- Hung Out to Dry: Shootout.
- Masked Gunman: Chase on foot.
- Pawnshop Holdup: Shootout.
- Shoo Shoo Bandits: Shootout, may devolve into a car chase if not resolved quickly.
- Theater Robbery: Car chase followed by chase on foot.
Homicide Street Crimes
- Bank Job: Shootout.
- Bowling Lane Robbery: Shootout followed by chase on foot. Killing the crook behind the counter sooner rather than later eliminates the chase.
- Canned Fish: Chase on foot followed by car chase.
- Cop Killer Shot: Shootout.
- Death Plunge: Chase on foot.
- Honey Boy: Shootout.
- Killer Bandits: Chase on foot followed by shootout.
- Misunderstanding: Chase on foot followed by shootout. If you chase quickly enough you may be able to fire a warning shot and end the chase before the shootout.
- Running Battle: Case on foot, will turn into a shootout is suspect flees far enough.
- Thicker Than Water: Car chase.
- Unsuccessful Holdup: Shootout followed by chase on foot.
- Vengeful Ex: Shootout.
- Would Be Robber: Car chase followed by shootout.
Vice Street Crimes
- Against the Odds: Tail followed by shootout.
- Bad Date: Chase on foot.
- The Badger Game: Car chase.
- The Blue Line: Shootout. May turn into a car chase if you take too long.
- Camera Obscura: Car chase. It’s difficult to run him off the road, but he will eventually crash so just keep after him.
- Commies: Shootout.
- Daylight Robbery: Chase on foot.
- Fatal Plunge: Chase on foot followed by car chase.
- Secret Keepers: Car chase.
- Zoot Suit Riot: Shootout.

Arson Street Crimes
- Accident Prone: Chase on foot.
- Bus Stop Shooting: Shootout followed by chase on foot and a second shootout.
- Cafe Holdup: Shootout.
- Hot Property: Car chase.
- Paper Sack Holdup: Car chase. If you don’t run them off the road in time they’ll drive over a cliff — if this happens, just drive off after them.

Femme Imb?cile - Correctly branch every question in the interview with Jean Archer.
Forcible Rear Entry - Enter the Las Palmas stash house via the back door and kill Juan Garcia Cruz.
Give My Regards - Shoot every letter down from the tower at the Broadway Hotel.
Golden Boy - Clear a case finding every clue as an LAPD Detective or Investigator.
High Flyer - Find the flyer at Juan Garcia Cruzs house and proceed straight to the 20th
Century Market.

Keep A Lid On - Complete a brawl without losing your hat as an LAPD Detective or Investigator.
Lead Foot - Keep the needle above 80mph for more than ten seconds while driving.
Magpie - Find and inspect 95% of all clues.
Miles On The Clock - Drive more than 194.7 miles.
Moth To A Flame - Complete all cases on the Arson desk.
No Rest For The Wicked - Complete all cases on the Vice desk.
Not So Hasty - Stop a fleeing suspect with a warning shot as an LAPD Detective.

The Fighting Sixth - At the Bus Shooting, talk Felix Alvarro into giving up the Marines involved in
the Coolridge heist.
The Hunch - Use four intuition points in a single interview session, correctly branching
each question.
The Long Arm Of The Law - Complete all street crime cases.
The Moose - Follow Candy Edwards without using cover or incognito, except when starting or
picking up the tail.
The Nose Knows - Find and inspect the prop spinner at the Nicholson blast site.

Avoid bad choices:
------------------
In many interviews you can get up, walk out of a house or building, and force the game to
auto save. Return to the interview and start it. If you make bad choices, just go back to
the system's home screen or reset the game. You should be returned to the auto save before
the interview.
Booze bottles are not clues:
----------------------------
Do not waste your time on things like cigarette butts, booze bottles and other things.
They are solely meant to throw you off as you investigate a crime scene.
Chase scenes:
-------------
* When chasing a suspect on foot or in a vehicle, hold [Camera Focus] to keep an eye on your prey.
This makes chase scenes much easier.
* When you get near a suspect on foot, you can press [Tackle] repeatedly to tackle the suspect.
* In a car chase, pull up alongside a driver to have your partner fire at him. If he shoots a
tire, the car will slow down, emitting sparks from one wheel.
A faster way to take out a
driver, however, is to slam into a rear wheel, spinning the car out of control. T-boning a
suspect at an intersection is another good way to take him out.
Avoid criticism while driving:

If you are tired of listening to your partner criticize your driving, simply leave him and
do not give him a chance to get in the car as you take off.
He will appear when you arrive at the destination.

Search the indicated location to find the corresponding newspaper.

The Driver's Seat : On the dining table inside the Black's residence.
A Marriage Made In Heaven : On the bar inside Ray's Cafe.
The Fallen Idol : On the workbench in the storage area of Silver Screen props.
The Red Lipstick Murder : Near the front door of the Henry residence.
The White Shoe Slaying : In Stuart Ackerman's shack at the Hobo area.
The Black Caesar : On the desk in the Ramez Removal Warehouse.
The Set Up : On the training table in the stadium.
Manifest Destiny : Near the downed shooter at the alley of Haskell's Finest Men's.
A Walk in the Elysian Fields : Search near the right corner of the Morelli's house's lawn.
A Polite Invitation : On Leland's Monroe's desk when raiding his mansion.
A Different Kind of War : On the front counter.
A Different Kind of War : On Harlan Fontaine's desk at the crime scene.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reference:

Doctor Fontaine may be a reference to Darius Fontaine, who helps people with
their problems heard on the radio in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Red Dead Redemption reference:
------------------------------
In the Silk Stock Murder, after you investigate the long blood trail leading onto the
roof, examine the body and find all the clues. You will be returned to your car.
Instead of leaving, turn around and investigate the alley behind you. You will find
a trash can with a cowboy hat in it, which Red Dead Redemption players may recognize
as belonging to one John Marston.
