The main Just Dance 4 features & game modes are:

• Battle Mode: In the all-new Battle Mode, friends go head to head with each other in six rounds of dance battles. During the battle, the choreography and music changes in real time, depending on who is currently winning or losing. The ultimate winner gets bragging rights until the next dance battle!
• Alternate Choreographies: Players have the chance to unlock alternative dance routines for some of their favorite tracks. They can opt for a more challenging, faster-paced routine or more outlandish choreography, depending on their mood.
• Expanded Just Sweat Mode: The popular Just Sweat mode gets a major upgrade with new workout sessions, personalized programs and a calorie counter to track your workout intensity. With Just Sweat, players stay fit while having fun – it’s exercise in disguise!
• Nintendo Wii U-exclusive Features: The Wii U version introduces up to 5-player gameplay with an exclusive Puppet Master Mode. The Puppet Master Mode allows the player operating the new Wii U GamePad to switch dance routines that are being performed by the four other players in real-time. In this mode, the operator has the power to create choreographies and choose playlists for the other players to follow. 90,000 Dance like a god in Just Dance 2017 — now on PC!

Owners of various consoles have long been dancing with Just Dance . However, along with the fresh Just Dance 2017 , PC users are also joining the dancing fun.

« Just Dance » (Russian Just Dance ) is a song written by American singer Lady Gaga and produced by RedOne. The song featured Colby O’Donis and featured additional vocals from Akon. The song was released as the first single from her debut studio album The Fame , in 2008.

The song «Just Dance» was written by Gaga and Akon with RedOne, who also produced the track. In an interview with Heat magazine, Gaga said:

“I had a terrible hangover. I wrote the song in 10 minutes with RedOne. And for the first time I was in a Hollywood recording studio. In a very vintage, huge room with huge speakers» ^[3] .

Gaga wrote «Just Dance» in January 2008. According to her, it was “hard work and many people did not believe in it at first” ^[4] . In an interview with Contactmusic.com, Gaga said that «Just Dance» is a happy record and is appreciated by people who are going through various hardships in life, such as losing their job, home, etc. ^[5] . Later, in an interview with Artistdirect.com, Gaga explained that when she created Just Dance, she wanted to create a great record.

When asked about the reasons for the popularity of the song, she said that:

“Everyone is looking for a song that really responds to the joys that are stored in our souls and hearts and to which you can have a good time. This song is just about it. It is felt and when you listen to the song, it makes you feel good. Nothing more. I don’t think any aerospace research is needed when it comes to the heart. I think this song is just soulful” ^[6] .

Music and Lyrics

«Just Dance» is a rhythmic dance song. The song combines straight marching beats, electronics and elements of R&B ^[7] . The song was recorded at a complex tempo, with a bitrate of 124 beats per minute, in the key of C-minor. Gaga’s singing spans 2 octaves, from G-3 to C-5 ^[8] . The song begins with up-tempo synths and Gaga saying the name «RedOne». The song plays at the same tempo in the chorus. The chorus is arranged as follows: F—Am—C—G—D—F—Am—C—G—D—F ^[8] . Colby O’Donis sings the interlude in the same key as Gaga ^[8] .

The song’s lyrics set a provocative perspective, opening with «What’s going on on the dance floor? I love this song baby but I can’t focus my eyes anymore» ^[9] . The lyrics, in general, talk about what it means to be completely intoxicated at a party ^[10] . The word «A RedOne» at the beginning of the song is often confused with «red wine», but in reality Gaga is simply introducing her producer RedOne ^[11] .

Criticism

The song received mostly positive reviews. Matthew Chisling of Allmusic described the song as «galactic» and compared it to another song from The Fame, «Money Honey» ^[12] . Alex Petridis of The Guardian called the song «a seductively haunting tale of soft drug use, with a combination of straight-forward marching beats, saw-sounding electronics and a touch of R&B that bears an inexplicable resemblance to Nelly Furtado’s ‘Maneater’.»0177 [7] . Ben Norman of About.com said that the song «opens the album as a Valkyrie warrior […] riding triumphantly ahead of her army. If you don’t know this song, please use your browser. I won’t waste time explaining how this song sounds.» However, he also added that the song was not innovative and compared it to the work of artists such as Rihanna, Chris Brown and the Pussycat Dolls ^[13] . Bill Lamb of About.com called the song a signature song but catchy enough for Gaga to be noticed by the mainstream. He also added that «Just Dance» is a very strong song and shows Gaga’s amazing voice, but ultimately it’s just a pretty good dance-pop song. He also noted the good vocals of Colby O’Donis ^[14] . Evan Souday of PopMatters.com said «Just Dance» is a powerfully catchy single and a perfect indicator of what the entire ^[15] album is about. Ben Hogwood of MusicOMH.com praised the song, saying that «you won’t find a more thrilling ode to this year’s party than the hit ‘Just Dance’, a polished diamond that will take your mind for the next few weeks» ^[16] . Freedom’s Lou Las of The Washington Post described the song as «filled with mindless airy synth-pop that fits the low-end dance mood with Gagin’s cold, almost free-spirited vocals celebrating the joys of dance.»0177 [17] . Lynn Sexberg of The Ottawa Citizen, describing Gagin’s The Fame Ball Tour, called the song a great club anthem that could be sung by a choir ^[18] . Damir Sagdiev, from Afisha.uz, called the song «a lively and energetic club track», noting the good work of the producer of the song RedOne ^[19] .
