        Released Q3 2011

        • PC

Released on June 28, 2011, For the Motherland is the second expansion pack for Hearts of Iron 3.

        Summary
        Short summary describing this game.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

For the Motherland will be the Second expansion pack for Hearts of Iron 3. As the name suggests there will be an emphasis on improving the Soviet Union in particular the German-Soviet front during the war. There will also be an aim to improve the engine and work on improving or fixing game mechanics already present.

Historically the game will improve on the decisions mechanic with ideas such as the undeclared war in the Atlantic available for execution for countries such as Germany and the UK. There will be a vast increase in the number of decisions to better allow the historical events of the war be carried out by the player if they so choose to do so such as an initial improvement to German attack against the Soviet Union followed by the opposite once Winter kicks in.

The Engine will receive improvements primarily with an attempt to make the game the first Paradox game to feature multicore. This will allow the AI to work on two cores and therefore allow more improvements and more speed overall for the game. It is yet to be announced if the game will feature the graphic improvements of previous titles such as Victoria 2 or Divine Wind. A Theatre interface will also be added allowed a player far greater ability to work with there theatres, give them more info and better prepare them for war.

The Political Improvement will feature a mass overhaul in an attempt to improve it with features from Victoria 2 potentially being ported over. The ability to Coup a nation is being reworked and if successfully this will have far greater ramifications than before. As well as features from Hearts of Iron 2 such as the ability to see other countries cabinet.

Wargoals will be introduced to allow nations such as Finland to join the Axis against the Soviet Union in an attempt to get back land lost in the Winter War rather than have them join the Allies as they would do previously due to the fact they are a democratic government. This is a far more historical situation that is rarely ever achieved in the vanilla title. And this can be adapted for other nations if they seek to reclaim lost land.

        Mon — day off

The first large-scale exhibition project about the Donbass as a historical cultural phenomenon dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the region from the Nazi invaders. For the first time in our country, authentic documents and other material evidence of the age-old inseparable connection between Donbass and Russia will be presented in a modern museum format using the latest technological solutions.

The exhibition, the main partner of which is the Russian Historical Society, presents more than 300 exhibits (photographs, documents, posters, paintings, multimedia) from the fund collections of the State Center for Contemporary Arts, as well as from other museums in the country, including from the DPR and LPR. For the first time, items assembled by an inter-museum working group created by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to collect artifacts in the territories of the NWO will be demonstrated.

The exposition, consisting of seven sections, reveals the political, economic and cultural significance of the Donbass from the middle of the 19th century to the present. It tells about the history of the region’s development, the formation of the industrial Donbass, the laying of railways, the founding of new cities, the revolutionary and military period, and the famous natives of this region. Separate sections are devoted to the events of modern times, the Northern Military District, the prospects for the development of Donbass.

One of the central exhibits of the introductory hall is the poster «Donbass — the heart of Russia» from the collections of the GMCCIR, published in 1921. An interactive map of the development of Donbass, a map of the region’s changing administrative boundaries, a multimedia installation of the development of Yuzovka (the first name of Donetsk) from an industrial settlement to a large industrial city have been specially prepared for the exhibition.

The history of the development of Donbass can be traced through the details of the biographies of prominent Russian figures of science and culture related to the region. These are natives of the region: composer Sergei Prokofiev, artist Arkhip Kuindzhi, ethnographer Vladimir Dal, who took the pseudonym «Cossack Lugansk» in honor of his native city; organizer of domestic film production Alexander Khanzhonkov (visitors will be able to see a fragment of his film «Defense of Sevastopol» 1911 years). The exposition includes photographs and personal belongings of the great scientist Dmitry Mendeleev, who took part in the development of measures for the development of the Donetsk coal industry; industrialist Savva Mamontov, who built railways here; writers Alexander Fadeev and Mikhail Sholokhov, whose journalistic activities in the military Donbass formed the basis of the famous novels The Young Guard and They Fought for the Motherland; architect Fyodor Shekhtel, who erected buildings in local cities.

As part of the exhibition project, it is planned to broadcast a tour of the exhibition, create a 3D tour and a cycle of podcasts, master classes, lectures, film screenings, meetings with historians, cultural figures, scientists and military commanders.

In parallel, the multimedia version of the exhibition will be presented in the historical parks «Russia — My History» in St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Stavropol and Vologda. Also, modular and tablet exhibitions will be held in the territories of Donbass liberated from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
