Guter online shooter: 10 Best Multiplayer Shooters

10 Best Multiplayer Shooters

Games that let you go in guns blazing are endlessly enjoyable. Whether you just want to let off some steam or you actually get competitive, some of the best shooters put you in the ring with other players.

Related: The Best Multiplayer Mods For Single-Player Games

While countless multiplayer games let you and your buddies gun down your enemies together, a select few stand out in terms of gameplay, aesthetics, and even lore. Here are some of the best shooters out there for when you’re looking to play with friends — or against.

Because of the blatant refusal to tackle the sexual abuse, harassment, and prejudice that plagues their company, TheGamer will not be covering any titles developed or published by Activision Blizzard until they work on meaningful changes to their problematic structure.

10/10 Valorant

Valorant takes team-based action shooting with bomb defusal and changes things up by adding abilities. The lore behind Radianite and the state of the world is very interesting and nicely sets up why all of the agents have unique powers and face alternate versions of themselves.

The gameplay itself leads to endless fun, and different team setups manage to avoid making things feel repetitive. If you ever wanted to be a part of a hero squad that really makes you feel like the protagonist in a free game, Valorant is your best bet.

9/10 Risk Of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2 does a pretty spectacular job of making you feel like you are truly on a journey to ultimate power. You unlock characters as you find secrets and you make your way through wild worlds that threaten your frames per second with the full force of its chaos and colors.

You can loot a lot of interesting items that steadily make your build OP, with the exciting caveat that the game will keep getting harder the longer you wait. Take three buddies with you and experience the rush that comes with battling the final boss on the “HAHAHAHAHAHA” level.

8/10 Rogue Company

Rogue Company has a matchmaking system that needs work, but it’s a great tactical shooter that combines the best elements of Paladins and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and turns it into a third-person adventure worth pouring hours into.

Its roster of Rogues is also varied enough that each one is actually worth trying. Once you find the type that matches your playstyle, all bets are off.

7/10 Fortnite

Whatever you may feel about Fortnite, there’s no denying its place in the world of multiplayer shooters. It really pummeled through the world of battle royales and introduced the interesting mechanic of building.

Related: Best Battle Royale Games For Beginners

You can always choose the game mode that removes this gameplay function completely, but the building is what makes Fortnite the game that it is. You drop from the sky, loot rare items, build the defensive fort of your dreams, and shoot your way to victory.

6/10 GTFO

Few multiplayer shooters can make you feel as tense as GTFO. Because it regularly updates with new Rundowns, you can revisit the game even when you’ve finished it and have an entirely new experience to look forward to.

This is a game where you actually have to work as a team if you’re going to make it to the end. Loadouts matter and you have to make use of terminals to find your objectives and essential items. It also doesn’t hurt that the setting is great and the enemy design is disgusting in the best way possible.

5/10 Borderlands 3

If you’re looking to run and gun, Borderlands 3 serves that up in a glorious platter of madness and pandemonium. Though it’s still hard to beat the balance of story and gameplay that Borderlands 2 introduced, the third main entry manages to take all the best visuals and mechanics from its predecessors and puts them into overdrive.

Related: Borderlands 2 Vs. Borderlands 3: Which One Is Best?

The customization and movement in this game take the cake and makes an already intense game even better. Plus, you can get all manner of guns to expand your arsenal of destruction.

4/10 Left 4 Dead 2

Despite its age, Left 4 Dead 2 still refuses to die. With the strong base game and very active workshop community, players continue to find ways to enjoy the ever-engaging title.

Back 4 Blood makes a valiant effort to become a worthy spiritual successor (and it does introduce interesting new elements), but there’s just no topping the ultimate classic. From the interactive player voice commands to the smooth zombie killing, it’s hard to take its place.

If you want to talk about massive rosters of playable characters and intense battle royale shooters, then you can’t go without Apex Legends. There’s something about this game that makes it so accessible to beginners and yet perfect for veterans.

The gunplay here feels amazing and you are encouraged to lean into the fast-paced nature of the game. It’s an almost constant adrenaline rush that can be punishing to campers and feels rewarding when you progress.

2/10 Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

What makes Rainbow Six Siege such an engaging multiplayer shooter is that the maps are really well-done and each game can feel varied depending on how you play. The gunplay is incredibly satisfying and it’s worth mastering the areas and tools so you can create an unbeatable team.

You can wreak havoc or play with precision, and still manage to have a fun time. Of course, it does have an interesting community that begs you to party up with people you already know.

1/10 Destiny 2

Anyone who’s ever played Destiny 2 knows that it is simultaneously the best and worst experience you can have in an open-world looter shooter. That said, it’s extremely replayable. Somehow, you just can’t help but keep going back.

The expansions are mostly worth getting for content, but the base game is where the grind is really at. Weekly missions, character progression, and both PvP and PvE options will keep you at it. Trying it solo really highlights why it needs to be experienced with other players on your side. Dive in and meet your destiny.

Update vom 11.

Apex Legends

Release: 04.02.2019 | Plattform: Steam (PC), Origin (PC), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch | Genre: Battle-Royale | Entwickler: Respawn Entertainment | Modell: Free-To-Play

Was macht das Spiel besonders?

In Arenen kämpfen 3er-Teams in Runden gegeneinander.

Call of Duty: Vanguard – Empfehlung mit Einschränkung

Release: 05.11.2021 | Plattform: battle.net (PC), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | Genre: Shooter | Entwickler: Sledgehammer Games | Modell: Buy-To-Play

Was macht das Spiel besonders?

So findet jeder etwas, was seinem eigenen Spielstil zusagt.

Call of Duty: Warzone

Release: 10.03.2020 | Plattform: battle.net (PC), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | Genre: Battle Royale | Entwickler: Raven Software | Modell: Free-To-Play

Was macht das Spiel besonders?

Browser-based online shooters — the best first-person shooters in the browser

Today, not everyone has the opportunity and time to download and install a first-person shooter client on their PC, which, in addition to weighing, as a rule, at least several tens of gigabytes, so it often makes unimaginably high demands on gaming hardware.

Browser shooters save the situation. These are quite modern, exciting and relatively good in terms of graphics video games do not require pre-installation. You can play them online right in your browser window, and the vast majority of them will allow you to do this absolutely free. nine0003

Batla

One of the oldest and most popular browser-based online shooters with over 6 million subscribers. «Battle» is distributed free of charge, you can even play through social networks «VKontakte» or Facebook. It is also available on Steam. The video game is dedicated to the invasion of the Earth by alien robots, which, due to their tiny size, were unable to capture it. However, their warlike disposition did not allow them to reconcile themselves to failure, and they rushed to sort things out among themselves, choosing for this a suitable battlefield in size — a children’s playroom. nine0003

Despite such a frivolous concept and cartoony graphics, «Battle» offers a very exciting action game with excellent animation and well-placed shooting mechanics. The Unity engine is responsible for all this. In terms of its dynamics, the browser game is reminiscent of such legendary projects as Unreal and Quake. One hit is enough for the enemy to crumble into pieces. By the way, the robotic crumbs use very serious weapons: gaussgan, shocker, flamethrower, mines.

Play

Contra City

Another popular free-to-play browser-based online shooter. A great option for those who are bored in the office and want to quickly and interestingly fast forward time. Contra City offers users three dynamic modes that have become classic online FPS: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag.

The weapon arsenal also offers a classic set, but some guns can only be purchased in Contra City with real money. For them, in the local game store, you can buy various wardrobe items with which you can give your hero a stylish and unique look. There is also an achievement system that tracks all the player’s progress in the browser game. True, you should definitely not expect top graphics from Contra City, just as you should not expect super-realistic physics from it. In this regard, the video game is not doing well. nine0003

Play

Code of War

An online third-person shooter that offers the standard style of modern warfare and quite good physics and ballistics for its level. Code of War has a large selection of firearms, for which there are many drawings and coloring pages. There is a fighter leveling system (for in-game currency) and many modes for team and individual play. Battles take place on three-dimensional maps with good rendering. nine0003

In general, nothing original and new, almost all of this can be seen in many other, more popular games. But on the other hand, everything that Code of War offers players is implemented without any serious punctures. In the pluses of the shooter, you can also write down the low entry threshold.

Play

BeGone

A representative of the tactical shooter genre, somewhat reminiscent of Counter Strike, something like Rainbow Six, except perhaps with a lower graphics level by several orders of magnitude. But you can play it absolutely free. Extensive maps are represented by various industrial zones, wastelands and other similar places, and with minimal detail, so you can run this browser-based 3D shooter even on the weakest PCs. nine0003

The weapons in the game are standard (real-life pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles, etc.), but there are only two factions: SWAT and Militia, and there seem to be no plot-based differences between them. Despite this, the gameplay of BeGone is very good. The developer put realism at the head of the whole process, therefore, the behavior of the weapon when firing, the damage system, and other elements turned out to be very believable. Not the best of the free FPS for browsers, but for fans of games in the spirit of Counter Strike, it will suit perfectly. nine0003

Play

Cube Madness 3D

Cube Madness 3D is a shooter that looks like it was created by the developers of Minecraft. There are indeed similarities, but they are expressed only in cubic game locations. All other mechanics in the game are unique and offer a new gaming experience for both Minecraft lovers and those who just want to take a break from work.

The player will have to customize his character (there are many costumes and masks) and go to fight the walking dead together with other players. A huge number of guns, explosives — zombies should definitely be feared! True, will this power be enough against strong bosses? nine0003

Plus, there are elements of construction, and the map in the game is destructible. In addition to the cooperative mode, there is also a multiplayer mode (for himself, team battle, domination, and so on).

Play

Dinostorm

It will take the user a long time to recover from what is happening on the screen after starting Dinostorm! This is a free 3D game in which the player takes on the role of a cowboy riding a dinosaur. Events take place during the gold rush, and everyone wants to grab a tasty morsel. Huge reptiles are not all the «means» used in the race. The gamer will also be able to use laser weapons…

Moreover, Dinostorm does not slip into outright absurdity — this is an excellent, humorous MMO in which the player can complete tasks, fight robbers and dinosaurs, and also interact with other users. «Pets» can be grown, and weapons can be upgraded. It’s hard to believe, but all this is available right in the browser.

Play

Warscrap

Third-person shooter with cartoon graphics. From the very beginning, you are thrown into the thick of battles against other players and aliens. In the arsenal you will find various firearms, but at the start you will have only one gun. Others can be purchased with in-game currency earned on the battlefields. nine0003

An excellent game with spacious locations, the ability to control vehicles and mass battles in which teamwork is important. Fortnite fans will especially like it.

Play

Time of Dragons

Time of Dragons is a steampunk fantasy multiplayer action game that challenges players to ride dragons and fight each other in a variety of modes. During battles, magic is actively used, and in between matches, you can develop your settlement and trade with other players. In general, a very good project for the browser. There is also a client version on Steam. nine0003

Play

Ground War Tanks

An arcade tank MMO action game dedicated to tank battles involving combat vehicles of the 20th century. Players are waiting not only for battles in various arenas, but also for long hours in the hangar, spent pumping and customizing tanks. The game contains several modes, during which gamers will fight to the death, capture enemy bases, control key points, and so on.

Play

Build and Crush

Online shooter that offers players to have fun in several activities — building, destruction and multiplayer. In the first mode, gamers can create by creating maps, objects and scenarios. The second mode allows you to take the soul, destroying everything that catches your eye with the help of a huge arsenal. Finally, in the third, players can work together to fight against zombies and each other. nine0003

Play

Tanki Online

Tanki Online is the famous MMO action game about tanks, which, despite not the most modern picture, has won the recognition of millions of players. All thanks to addictive gameplay, extensive customization options and quick matches to help blow off steam after a busy day. This is an addictive game, which is absolutely not a pity to spend an evening or two or even more.

Play

REPULS

A multiplayer shooter with nothing more than fighters, weapons and arenas. The only goal is to kill as many opponents as possible during the round, and to achieve this, you can use a pistol, shotgun, assault and sniper rifles, and grenades. nine0003

Play

1v1 LoL

A game clearly inspired by the popular Fortnite. Despite its name, battles take place not only in the 1v1 format: there are also 2v2, 4v4 matches and a 10-player battle royale. Gamers will have to fight each other using a shotgun and a machine gun, but construction will help protect against enemy projectiles: here you can put walls, stairs, pyramids and spikes. Of course, the game does not reach the cult ideological inspirer, but as an alternative, if there is no window on your PC, it will do. nine0003

Play

Crazy Shooters 2

A classic first-person shooter. Players are waiting for two modes: deathmatch and team deathmatch, spacious arenas, different weapons (grenades are highly respected) and hurricane gameplay. No rules: you see the target — shoot!

Play

Best Combat Arena 2020

Minecraft style cube online shooter. Players appear in arenas, choose weapons, fight bots, zombies and each other. The project cannot boast of a variety and richness of maps, but if you want to have fun with something simple, then Combat Arena is quite suitable for this purpose. nine0003

Play

CS Online

The iconic Counter-Strike ported to the browser almost unchanged. All components are in place: two teams — special forces and terrorists — familiar maps and weapons, familiar gameplay mechanics and tactical tricks. With all this, the game works great in any browser and does not put forward serious requirements for the PC configuration.

Play

Mini Royale 2

As you might guess from the title, the game is a battle royale game where up to 10 players fight. And it’s a pretty high-quality shooter with good netcode, lots of weapons, minimalistic art and furious gameplay. Matches last no longer than five minutes, and characters can be customized, highlighting among hundreds of the same type of bobbleheads. The game is, of course, available for free. nine0003

Play

Surviv.io

Top-down battle royale in which 20 people compete for the crown. An unusual perspective for the genre has made its own adjustments to the gameplay — new tactical options have appeared, and participants can hide under trees, in bushes and in other objects. Otherwise, the gameplay is faithful to the classics — we land, look for weapons in abandoned houses and run away either from a narrowing zone, or from an enemy who was lucky to find a gun earlier.

Play

Krunker.io

A fun 3D shooter with Counter-Strike shooting mechanics and Minecraft cartoon graphics. Here you will find team and single player modes, the essence of which is elementary — just try to kill everyone whose nickname is highlighted in red above their heads. The high speed of the fighters adds interest, because of which they quickly rush around the map and jump several meters.

Features include pleasant shooting, customization options, crafting and an in-game editor in which users create skins for weapons and new maps. nine0003

Play

Superhot

A browser-based prototype of the popular indie shooter SUPERHOT, which will make you the hero of a low-poly yet spectacular action movie. His trick was the game with time — when you stand still, it slows down sharply, and with any movement it returns to normal. So you have to effectively dodge enemy shots, shoot ahead of time or slowly watch how the bullet flies in the forehead.

The gameplay is based on completing short levels, and if you want more, there are already three parts of the series waiting for you on Steam, and one of them will make you feel like Neo in VR. nine0003

Play

Wolfenstein 3D

In the early 2000s, we could not imagine that we could break into Wolfenstein Castle in the browser, even from home, even from the workplace in the office. We do not deny that this game is quite old, but why not touch the classics when it is only one click away from it?

This is the third game in the Wolfenstein series in which we take on the role of intelligence agent William Blaskowitz and try to escape from a castle that has become a haven for the Nazis and their experiments. Interestingly, it was she who became a model for fast action games and set a new bar in technical performance: the gameplay of this classic shooter is sure to be familiar to your ancestors. nine0003

Play

Warmerise: Red vs Blue

This shooter might seem a little heavy for your browser, as it has a large 3D map and vehicles to ride over the heads of your opponents. The graphics, by the way, are not as bad as they seem at first glance — on, the design of the buildings leaves much to be desired, but the characters and weapons are very well detailed, and for a browser game it’s generally great.

The developers also tried to improve the behavior of the fighter — the weight of the weapon is felt, and the shooting is pleasant, as is the recoil. There is only one mode, and it is easy to guess from the name — a team battle between the «reds» and «blues», but it will be enough to call Warmerise: Red vs Blue one of the best browser shooters. nine0003

Play

War Brokers

A low-poly browser-based analogue of Battlefield — here gunfights take place on large maps, and you can sit in the cockpit of an aircraft or in a tank turret. Several modes are offered — high-speed team, standard «deathmatch», royal battle and survival. The arsenal is small, but each gun is worked out.

Play now

Open Arena

This is a browser-based clone of the classic Quake III Arena — with fast gameplay, power-ups scattered around the map, and fierce firefights in tight arenas equipped with springboards. From the arsenal — both a standard firearm and impressive rocket launchers, a circular saw and other toys. If you miss the old fast shooters, then Open Arena will bring nostalgia. nine0003

Play

Unpicked

World of Machines

A 3D HTML5 browser-based shooter about robot warfare. The game sends you to a post-apocalyptic world where machines fight each other on the remains of civilization, and players will have to take a direct part in this war.

World of Machines contains many maps, several types of combat vehicles, a system for upgrading and customizing them, and also boasts nice graphics and good performance in any modern browser. A very good option to relieve stress during breaks or after work. nine0003

Game closed

Global Strike

Pretty high-quality online shooter with a hurricane of firefights, a large arsenal of weapons and zombies. The game resembles cult projects like Counter-Strike and Cross Fire, but it works in any browser (which, however, did not greatly affect its appearance). If desired, players can also download the client, with which the project becomes a little more stable and beautiful.

PUBG Pixel

Unity browser-based battle royale inspired by the iconic PUBG and Minecraft. Cubic characters land on the location, scatter to their homes and start searching for weapons. Whoever acquires powerful guns before others will get more chances of survival, and will be able to more effectively resist enemies. PUBG Pixel can’t be called the best game in this collection, but still there is something in it.
