Wir stellen euch die 12 besten Free-to-play-MMORPGs im Jahr 2022 vor, die ihr jetzt in Deutschland spielen könnt. Für diese Games auf PC, PlayStation, Xbox und Switch müsst ihr nicht lange überlegen oder Tests wälzen, ob sie euer Geld wert sind, denn es handelt sich hier um kostenlose Online-Rollenspiele der Top-Kategorie.
Gerade für uns MMO-Fans ist der Kauf eines neuen Spiels schwierig. Mit guten MMORPGs geht man Langzeit-Beziehungen ein. Niemand will gleich 30, 40 oder 50 Euro für ein Spiel ausgeben, das ihm schon nach dem Tutorial nicht gefällt.
Mit Free2Play-Spielen geht man dieses Risiko nicht ein: Die Spiele sind erstmal kostenlos. Viele der Free-to-play-MMORPGs in unserer Besten-Liste sind etwas älter, es sind aber auch einig neuere Titel dabei.
Alle hier genannten Spiele sind auch auf Deutsch spielbar. Registrieren, installieren, durchstarten. Der kleine Fix gegen Langeweile.

Zudem haben wir Herr der Ringe Online um 3 Plätze von Rang 8 auf Rang 5 aufgestuft – die Entwicklung beim MMORPG ist hier deutlich positiv. So wurde etwa die Free2Play-Regelung freundlicher für die Spieler.

Auf Platz 12 findet ihr das MMORPG Aion. Bei Aion handelt es sich um ein typisches Themepark-MMORPG, in dem ihr mit eurem Helden eine große Welt erkundet, Quests erledigt und gegen Monster kämpft.
Aion bietet eine Besonderheit, für die es bekannt wurde: Denn ihr bekommt im Verlauf der Handlung Flügel, mit denen ihr über die Welt fliegen könnt.
So erreicht ihr vorher unzugängliche Orte. Das Fliegen ist ein wichtiger Teil des MMORPGs.
Aion wird nach wie vor mit Updates versorgt. Nachdem sich die Fans eine Rückkehr zu den Anfangstagen gewünscht hatten, erfüllten die Entwickler diese Bitte und bescherten Aion 2018 eine Art Neuanfang.
Im Februar 2021 erlebte das MMORPG sogar eine kleine Renaissance:

STO verfügt über ein faires Free-to-Play-Modell, eine riesige Auswahl an Schiffen, drei Spiel-Modi und mit Star Trek über eine Lizenz, die dem Game und damit dem Spieler den Zugang zu einem ausgefeilten und cleveren Kosmos aus Geschichten und Figuren gestattet.
Beeindruckend ist, dass das Spiel kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt wird. Im Jahr 2016 erschien es sogar für PS4 und Xbox One. Ein Zeichen dafür, dass die Entwickler hinter dem Star-Trek-MMO stehen.
Zum 10. Jubiläum des Spiels 2020, erklärten die Entwickler, wie sie das Spiel nach all der Zeit auch weiterhin spannend halten wollen. Fans können sich auf weiteren Content freuen.

Viele Quests finden auf mehreren Ebenen statt und heben sich dadurch vom drögen „Geh dahin, töte 20 Viecher, komm zurück“-Prinzip ab.
Im Kampfsystem zielt ihr jetzt mit der Maus, statt mit der TAB-Taste.

Vor dem Hintergrund der Welt von D&D betont Neverwinter die Kampfaspekte und das Gruppenspiel. Zudem können sich Spieler kreativ ausleben und ihre eigenen Missionen designen, anbieten und sie von anderen spielen lassen.
Regelmäßig erscheinen neue, sogenannte Abenteuermodule mit weiteren Geschichten. So führte euch die Reise 2020 mit Avernus in die Neun Höllen.

Fokus liegt auf den PvP-Kämpfen, doch im PvE wird ebenfalls viel geboten.
Albion Online nutzt ein interessantes System, bei dem ihr über eure Ausrüstung bestimmt, welche Rolle ihr im Spiel einnehmt. Mit Schwert und Rüstung seid ihr ein Kämpfer, mit Spitzhacke baut ihr Rohstoffe ab.
Seit dem Wechsel auf Free2Play im April 2019 geht es mit den Spielerzahlen spürbar nach oben. Im September 2020 wurde sogar ein neuer Rekord aufgestellt. Auch neuer Content wird weiterhin regelmäßig veröffentlicht.
Es erscheinen regelmäßig große Updates, die neue Inhalte einfügen. Darunter im Sommer 2020 Dungeons, die an Dark Souls erinnern.

Es setzt den Fokus stark auf die Story und begeistert mit moralischen Entscheidungen und vollvertonten und verfilmten Quests – und natürlich mit der Star Wars Lizenz, die ist ja seit einigen Jahren auch wieder im Kino zu sehen.
Das hat Star Wars an eine neue Generation herangeführt.
- 2019 wurden zudem die Beschränkungen für Free-to-Play-Spieler gelockert und die neue Erweiterung Onslaught kann zumindest mit der Geschichte voll überzeugen.

Lost Ark kam 2019 in Südkorea heraus und entwickelte sich seitdem stetig nach oben und gilt heute als das beste Free2Play-MMORPG und das wichtigste „neue MMORPG“ seit 2016 überhaupt.
Das Spiel setzt auf Hack’n Slay Action-Kampf wie bei Diablo 3, verbindet das aber mit tiefen und ausgeklügelten MMORPG-Elementen. Dabei spielt Lost Ark in einer seltsamen asiatischen Welt, in der Dämonen neben futuristischen Steampunkt-Helden, Schwertkämpfer und Cowboys existieren.
Gelobt wird das Spiel vor allem für seine herausragende Weiterentwicklung seit 3 Jahren und die Abwechslung und Tiefe beim Content.
Kritikpunkte sind Schwierigkeiten im Shop-System und der Gender-Lock, der für asiatische Spiele üblich ist.

Isometric non-target MMO with a focus on PvE, world exploration and dailies. PVP content exists, but is not very popular. Each class is unique and has a lot of abilities that can be combined to create a variety of builds.
The game has a huge world and a large story campaign presented in an unusually vivid way (by the standards of the genre).
Cash investment will speed up leveling, but will not provide any benefits in PvP. So you can safely play without ever thinking about it.
Blade and Soul
Korean project with excellent graphics, interesting plot and dynamic combat. Each class is self-sufficient in the process of pumping, and is revealed only in PVP, for which the gameplay is designed. There is no standard equipment system here: stats are increased by special stones, the sets of which need to be collected; Clothing only affects appearance.
Real money can be used to buy both cosmetic items and a character that affects the characteristics of a character. In addition, some items cannot be purchased with in-game currency. Despite this, the game remains one of the best MMOs focused on duels between players.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis
A remake of the popular Japanese MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 for many years. Few people heard about it in the CIS, but in the rest of the world, thousands of players rushed into it, despite the lack of English localization. In the re-release, they retained the basis of the gameplay, but tightened up the graphics and brought in the English language (however, there is still no official Russian localization).
Each class is strikingly different from the rest, not only in abilities, but also in the gameplay. One will turn the game into a third-person shooter like Mass Effect; another will turn the battles into a breathtaking anime-style aerial show; the third will stand on the sidelines and direct the mounts that do all the work for him.

Black Desert Online
Fairly considered one of the most beautiful MMORPG. Here you will find a huge seamless world and more than a dozen classes, each of which can be upgraded and customized in different ways. The game is more about grinding and hardcore PvP, where you really need to think fast, adapt to an ever-changing situation and press a bunch of buttons. Group content is almost non-existent.
Donat does not give a special advantage, although it somewhat speeds up pumping.
Basically, these are costumes and various decorative stuff, and part of it can be farmed without any investment.
Skyforge
Joint project of Russian Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment. In it, players will try themselves in the role of an immortal, and then a god, saving the local world from monster invasions. The emphasis is on PVE content.
A feature of the gameplay is the ability to change the class. Thanks to this, the same player can act in different roles, even within the same dungeon. Equipment, of course, will have to be selected separately. After completing the main story, the form of a god is unlocked: it noticeably enhances the immortal, unlocks new abilities and allows you to change class right during the battle.
The game is free, but there is a premium subscription. It is divided into several levels — the higher, the more bonuses the player receives. The first level, the most important, is simply issued for performing various in-game activities, and therefore you can support it without investing a single ruble.
EVE Online
The legendary game about the political squabbles of space factions. It is famous for a very complex economy, depending on the players themselves; and advanced politics, because of which the largest alliances constantly arrange large-scale and prolonged wars.
Here you are free to choose any path: a merchant or a pirate, a politician or a loner, an honest hard worker or a speculator. And it depends only on you whether it will lead to success.
The premium subscription expands the player’s options. More abilities will open, they will be pumped faster, new ship models will become available. All this is important for a full-fledged game, but there is also good news: premium can be bought for in-game currency, that is, you can save up for it in the game without investing anything.
Albion Online
An unusual isometric MMO from a small studio called Sandbox Interactive. There are no classes, no character abilities, no quests other than tutorials.
But there is a big world that you want to explore, and a variety of equipment, on which your capabilities depend. The latter can be crafted or bought on the market. Hence another feature — approximately 95% of all equipment was created by the players themselves. Of course, sometimes she drops from mobs, but very rarely and always not what you need.
The game encourages specialization. It is impossible to equally effectively extract resources, craft everything and fight. Therefore, the entire local economy is based on a constant exchange of goods, and prices often change. Many players do nothing at all except resell things (it’s not fair, that’s why the author didn’t do that, really, really).

And the gold itself can be exchanged for simple in-game silver (as well as vice versa), attention, at a constantly changing rate! That is, even in this way, with due diligence, you can increase the welfare of your character.
