New Content of Guild Wars 2 Final Beta Weekend accounced

New Content of Guild Wars 2 Final Beta Weekend

With the announcement of its release date on August 28th, Guild Wars 2 will open its final beta weekend event on the coming Friday, July 20th. ArenaNet announced something new for Guild Wars 2‘s last beta before the final launch. With a lot of expectation for the great game, let’s take a look at what we’re hopeful to find.

Sylvari and Asura

Days ago ArenaNet announced that both the sylvari and the asura will be playable for the very first time in final beta weekend. Now so far we have only had a chance to check out the Sylvari from some videos, while the asura did make an appearance in the final Guild Wars 2 expansion, Eye of the North.

The Sylvari are truly new to the lands of Tyria, so it will be interesting to see not only how NPCs react to the new race, but also the players. Their way of life is very different, and everything is so new to them, that it might make the players feel like a kid again. Even their character design is strange and very unique.

The new map Brisban Wildlands

A new map called Brisban Wildlands will be opened for characters of 17-20 level. According to Kim Kirsch, a game’s designer of Guild Wars 2, the new map is like this:

«Brisban Wildlands is a remote jungle adjacent to the lands of the asura, sylvari, and humans. For decades the only inhabitants have been a few asura labs too secretive or volatile to occupy space near Rata Sum, and an ever-multiplying population of skritt. Protected by the secluded jungle, the skritt built the city of Skrittsburgh, and have attained an order of civility little seen in other areas of Tyria.»

Of course, in Tyria, peace never lasts long, so by the time players reach the Brisban Wildlands, it will be their mission to hunt down the evil groups that have taken a foothold in the area.

New minigame Keg Brawl

As a sequel of Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 has also abundant of minigames that are available all the times. If you are tired of adventuring or PvP combat, these minigames could be your best choices. The special one of this final beta weekend will be the minigame of the name Keg Brawl. The Keg Brawl is described as a «wildly popular, incredibly macho norn pastime» and can be accessed from the large norn city of Hoelbrak. The transport NPC stands at the northwest corner of the city, where two teams attempt to carry the fullest kegs of ale back to their Ale Collector, scoring points with every successful trip. Players can «tackle, pummel, kick, and otherwise rough up» their enemies to gain control of the keg for themselves. Just the kind of violent, drunken rampage Guild Wars 2 fans have been waiting for!

New PvP map Legacy of the Foefire

We can see that ArenaNet has gained much attention on non-PvP things in the Guild Wars 2. How about PvP? Don’t worry. The game has had a breaktrough for PvP players. Both Structured PvP and World vs. World will see improvements and additions for the final beta weekend. In Structured PvP, ArenaNet will be introducing a new map called Legacy of the Foefire. The map’s description should excite any Guild Wars players looking for a more traditional style of PvP:

«We’re introducing a brand-new player-versus-player map this weekend that we call ‘Legacy of the Foefire’, which draws some inspiration from the lore and design of the original Guild Wars. As with all PvP maps, players will battle over three capture points, but this new map includes NPC guards and team ‘guild lords’, powerful NPCs that are worth a lot of points… if you can manage to kill them.”

Keep in mind that all character information will be deleted before and after this final beta weekend event. Up until now, each beta event and stress test has carried over characters from their last appearance in-game, complete with items, skills, and levels. Everything will be fresh after this final beta weekend. Hope you enjoy you brand-new journey when the final launch comes.

Specialization Changes after Beta 3 — Guild Wars 2 MMORPG

Based on the results of the last beta test, the developers decided to make changes to some of the specializations (Currently Druid and Daredevil). You can read about the planned changes below.

Druid

Avatar shape will be redesigned. The developers plan to add «damage support» to this specialization — through changing traits, or skills. The main goal of the changes is to make rangers able to use two types of offensive weapons and still take advantage of the avatar form (at the moment, as the test showed, the druid does not work very well without a staff — this is what will be fixed)

Healing will also be changed. The avatar’s healing is currently the most powerful in the game, but there is a problem that the healing modifiers do not provide a significant increase, so it does not make much sense to take a healing build. This will also change.

Daredevil

  • Reduced Channeled Vigor time from 2.25 to 0.75
  • Vault: fixed a bug due to which the movement was not the full distance.
  • Fist Flurry: cast time reduced by 20%.
  • Evasive Empowerment: The trait has been renamed to Havoc Master and gives the player 7% bonus damage in a 360 radius.
  • Impaling Lotus: Increased bleeding duration from 8 to 10 seconds.
  • Bounding Dodger: In addition to Bound’s dodge skill, the thief gains a 10% physical damage bonus for 4 seconds after dodging.
  • Lotus Training: In addition to Impaling Lotus’ dodge skill, the thief will gain a 10% bonus to ailment damage for 4 seconds after dodging. 10%.

It is also planned to slightly improve the Weakening Strikes trait by adding a secondary effect to it. For example, impose on the enemy (torment, bleeding, or something else) if you have weakened him. Or you may take less damage from weakened enemies.

There were no particular complaints about the rest of the specializations, and major changes are not planned yet, although the developers are actively collecting feedback on the official forum.

In addition to the above changes in specializations, it is worth noting one more thing — the developers listened to the opinion of the community and reduced the time required to build the arena in the guildhalls. If earlier it was about two months, now the arena can be built in about 2 weeks.
