The legendary musical «The Phantom of the Opera» was brought to Moscow

And in it every evening a chandelier weighing 650 kilograms literally rushes over the heads of the audience. But this is not the only thing that is admired in the famous musical. It has been on the stage for 27 years and, first of all, thanks to the very story of the French writer Gaston Leroux and the enchanting music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, it still continues to gather full houses.

This year the musical is brought to Russia. Yes, yes, the same version that goes on Broadway and in London, only with Russian performers and in Russian — that is, an adapted version for the domestic audience. nine0003

There are Broadway musicals, such as «The Lion King», for example, which are unlikely to be transferred to the Russian stage, due to the complexity and sometimes impossibility of adapting them. «The Phantom of the Opera» is as difficult to «transfer» to Russia as to any other country. But the company «Stage Entertainment» swung at a grandiose production just in the year of the celebration of its 10th anniversary. The general producer of the production, Dmitry Bogachev, explained to the «RG» observer that the production of «The Phantom of the Opera» in Russia is a new word in our «musical» movement, and that only after that we can finally say that there is a Broadway. At the same time, The Phantom of the Opera is staged not in the Pushkinsky cinema and concert hall, which has been given to the company for musicals for several years now (Beauty and the Beast is being resumed there), but in the Moscow Youth Palace, which has undergone significant changes.
