By
Meg Pelliccio

Looking to obtain The Magus Sisters aeon and get the Delta Attack! trophy/achievement in Final Fantasy X? Here’s how to do it.

As you join Yuna on her pilgrimage across Spira in Final Fantasy 10, she will collect various aeons from different temples as part of the storyline. However, there are three optional aeons that you can also obtain if you’re willing to put in some extra time and effort.

The Magus Sisters are one of the optional aeons that you can get in the game, but you’ll need to collect both of the other two optional aeons before you can get them. For everything you need to know about how and where to get The Magus Sisters, we have a  complete guide right here.

Prerequisite Tasks

In order to be able to get The Magus Sisters Aeons, there are a few things you need to have done first.

  • Obtained Yojimbo: We have a guide on how to obtain Yojimbo here.
  • Obtained Anima: We have a guide on how to obtain Anima here.
  • Obtained the Flower Sceptre: Rewarded for defeating Belgemine’s Bahamut, which is covered further down.
  • Obtained the Blossom Crown: Rewarded from the Monster Arena when you capture one of each type of Monster from Mt. Gagazet. (The Monster Arena can be found to the east of the Calm Lands.)

Where to Find the Remiem Temple

The Remien Temple is located in the Calm Lands, but you’ll need a Chocobo to reach it. (There is a Chocobo Trainer in the Calm Lands that can help you achieve this if you haven’t done so already.)

You can reach the Remiem Temple by heading east from the southern Calm Lands exit and towards the area just above where the two treasure chests are. Examine the yellow feather on the floor to make your Chocobo jump to a new area and continue onwards to find the Remiem Temple.

Belegmine’s Challenges

You should already be acquainted with Belgemine’s challenges where you need to defeat her various aeons, but you’ll find her inside of the Remiem Temple with even more challenges waiting for you.

In the Remiem Temple, you’ll be able to choose which of Belgemine’s aeons that you battle. Choosing to battle Bahamut and winning will earn you the Flower Sceptre needed for recruiting the Magus Sisters.

Recruiting the Magus Sisters

Once you have the required items and have obtained both Yojimbo and Anima, you can unseal the door leading to the Chamber of the Fayth in the Remiem Temple and recruit the Magus Sisters to your team. Obtaining The Magus Sisters unlocks the «Delta Attack!» achievement/trophy.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker’s Magus Sisters Explained

By
Joshua Duckworth

With the Magus Sisters confirmed to appear in Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, it’s worth noting how much history they have in the overall franchise.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is adding a lot of new content when the expansion releases in November, bringing the “eons in the making” tale of Hydaelyn and Zodiark to an end, adding classes like the Sage and Reaper, and more to the game. It’s also adding the Tower of Zot dungeon, which features three faces from the past: The Magus Sisters.

Thus far, perhaps their most iconic role in Final Fantasy was a summon in FF10, but they originated from the Tower of Zot (hence the connection) in Final Fantasy 4. Yet, they are still not as common as other summons, like Ifrit or Shiva, and it’s worth learning more about them before their release.

Final Fantasy: Magus Sisters’ Origin, Lore, Abilities, and Past Games

The three sisters are always together as a triad, with Sandy being the middle child but the tallest character, Cindy being the oldest sister and taking center stage in the trio, and Mindy being the smallest and youngest of the three. Together, they are associated with the Delta Attack which grew from their in-game Final Fantasy 4 strategy to a proper attack later on.

Their name comes in reference to their magic, Magus, which is obvious but also the Moirai, who are the three fates of Destiny. These beings are Clotho (spinner), Lachesis (allotter), and Atropos (inevitable)—and this connection is most likely recognizable in Final Fantasy 10. Unlike other summons, players cannot control the Magus Sisters.

They are hardly referenced outside the franchise, though it should be noted that, in Kingdom Hearts, three Gummi blueprints are named Sandy, Cindy, and Mindy. In the Final Fantasy franchise, though, they have had a solid number of appearances/references. Not counting smaller and/or mobile titles, here are the most notable:

  • Final Fantasy 4 – The Magus Sisters are minions of Barbariccia, one of Golbez’s Archfiends, and serve as the boss at the Tower of Zot. They also appear in the same capacity with the same techniques in Final Fantasy 4: The After Years.
  • Final Fantasy 10 – Taking on a more bug-like appearance, The Magus Sisters serve as an optional aeon in Final Fantasy 10 found in the Remiem Temple. They cannot be controlled, but players can encourage them with key commands. Despite this, they serve as a very powerful Final Fantasy summon.
  • Final Fantasy 10-2 – They appear, looking just as they did in Final Fantasy 10, as a boss in the Farplane.
  • Final Fantasy 11 – The Shikaree Sisters are all but fully confirmed to be the Magus Sisters. Referred to as Shikaree X, Y, and Z, they each have a weapon corresponding with the Magus Sisters and have their own Delta Attack.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics Advance – The Magus Sisters appear as Liliths and are fought in Mission 77. Mindy will reference the Delta Attack, but they won’t use it.
  • Dissidia – They once again operate as summons in this Final Fantasy fighting game, at least in the first two, Dissidia and Dissidia 012. In Dissidia NT, Yuna will reference Mindy when using Passado, but that’s all.

They also appear or are referenced in several smaller and/or mobile titles, ranging from Airborne Brigade to Mobius Final Fantasy.

Magus Sisters in Final Fantasy 14

As aforementioned, the Magus Sisters are coming to Final Fantasy 14 as part of the Tower of Zot dungeon. They are renamed Minduruva, Sandurva, and Cinuruva, combining their original names with that of Dhruva. This suggests how deep their regional connection with Final Fantasy 14‘s Thavnair goes, which makes sense given the Tower of Zot is set here too. Nothing else story-wise or lore-wise has been revealed yet, and it isn’t likely to before Endwalker’s release.

However, one important thing fans do know is that the Magus Sisters’ Delta Attack will be used in Final Fantasy 14. Big changes or whatnot have yet to be revealed, but given how some titles like Tactics Advance just reference the Delta Attack and Final Fantasy 11 changes it up, it’ll be interesting to see how this one manifests in contrast to other, similar ‘Delta Attacks’ in Final Fantasy 14.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker releases on November 23 for PC, PS4, and PS5.

Final Fantasy VII remake: system requirements, plot

January 31 is the official day of Final Fantasy VII in Japan. The authorities of the country decided to celebrate the influence of the cult work on the development of pop culture and registered a holiday in honor of the release of the original game. In addition, is in development for at least two parts of the series, including a remake of the legendary «seven», its release is expected in the winter of 2023. What to expect from a new reading of the old story and how Final Fantasy became one of the main games out of time — Izvestia understood.

There is a reason

In Japan, there are many public holidays dedicated to important works from the world of manga, anime and video games. For example, on May 9, the inhabitants of the country celebrate Goku Day (the protagonist of the Dragonball Z comics), and July 22 is considered the day of the famous manga about pirates One Piece. In 2018, May 27th was designated as the official day of the first game in the Dragon Quest series.

«Final Fantasy», and especially its most iconic part, also made a huge contribution to the popularization of Japanese pop culture around the world and greatly influenced the development of the genre of role-playing video games, so the Japan Anniversary Association officially registered January 31 as Final Day Fantasy VII. The date coincides with the 26th anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy VII on the first PlayStation in 1997 year. This was reported by representatives of the developer company Square Enix in social networks, in particular, the director of the original game and the producer of the remake, Yoshinori Kitase.

He noted that 2023 will be an important year for the entire Final Fantasy series, as a lot of game content is planned to be released at this time, but also the second remake of the seventh part of the game, as well as the new Final Fantasy XVI — it will continue the trend to user actions in real time instead of classic turn-based battles. The events will take place in the fictional world of Valisteia, whose six kingdoms are in danger due to the spread of the plague.

Recall that the plot of the «seven» known even outside the gaming community unfolded in a dystopian universe, where the entourage of science fiction was combined with elements of fantasy — high-tech corporations coexist with small villages, and the most modern weapons cause less damage than sword soldiers. The antagonists are fighting against the Shin-Ra Corporation, whose activities lead to the depletion of the source of planetary energy. As a result, the heroes are faced with the biggest mistake of the corporation, which can destroy the world — the main boss of the game named Sephiroth.

Old friends

In 2020, the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake was released for PlayStation 4. Later, an improved version was released on PC and PlayStation 5, and a sequel called Rebirth is currently in development, which will be exclusive to PS5. A total of three parts of the reboot are planned, expanding the events of the original Final Fantasy VII by changing some moments of the in-game history and modern elements in the gameplay. For example, fans of the series will get more details about characters such as Leslie Kyle and Kyrie Kanaan, Red XIII will become playable, and Yuffie has already received several story chapters dedicated to her.

According to the developers, the remake is an offshoot of the original G7 timeline. The fact that several minor characters survived in the new version created a theory among fans that the main protagonist could go back in time after losing in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Such a version has the right to exist, given that time travel has already been used by the company in the games Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind DLC and Kingdom Hearts 4 (the latter is expected to be released in 2024).

There is no official confirmation yet that the reboot will involve shenanigans with alternate dimensions or time travel. However, the prevailing view is that the new parts act as a continuation of everything that came before. The creators of the game themselves note that the remake will appeal to both fans of the original game and people who are not familiar with it.

«The result of this approach is that in the second and third parts, it will be interesting for players to guess which sections are one hundred percent true to the original material, and which will contain new elements unfamiliar to them,» explained producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Spot the difference

The first part of the remake came out in 2020. In general, its plot did not deviate much from the original Final Fantasy VII, however, many additional scenes and characters were introduced, including a ghostly «guardian of fate» who ensures that the characters follow their destined path. Final Fantasy Remake had a more redesigned combat mechanics compared to other parts of the series, combining real-time control of heroes with free movement around the battlefield. The game received mostly positive reviews and commercial success, becoming one of the fastest selling games on the PlayStation 4.0007

A new installment, Rebirth, was first announced in June 2022 at the Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration broadcast to celebrate the anniversary of the game’s release. Then they showed a one and a half minute trailer, showing the characters familiar from the first episode and some gameplay shots. The exact release date is unknown — for now, those who want to play the second part of the restart can only focus on this winter. By the way, the development of the third part takes place simultaneously with the development of Rebirth.

In addition to being able to learn more about the minor characters in the original story, fans will also be able to meet some of the characters who died before or during the events of the 1997 game. In particular, Zack Fair will take a key role in the rethinking of the story and become a playable character. This is proved by the released offshoot of the game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, as well as voice actor Kenichi Suzumura, according to whom Square Enix made the hero an active participant in the events of the new Final Fantasy. In the original game, Zack only appears through mentions and flashbacks, however, in the remake, he is still alive and will receive game time in the second part of the reboot. But regarding Sephiroth, it is still unclear whether he will be available for passage and whether he will enter into battle with the main characters.

Did not become final

The first game in the series was developed in 1987 by a small studio Square, which consisted of only a few people and was in a difficult financial situation. This influenced the name change from Fighting Fantasy to Final Fantasy. So the creator of the now cult series wanted to emphasize that in case of failure, this project will be his last.

However, the first chapter, released on December 18 of that year, proved to be a hit in the gaming world and launched one of pop culture’s longest and most successful offspring. She played an important role in the promotion of the JRPG genre and console games, and each subsequent part brought something new to the global industry. For example, it was in Final Fantasy IV that the so-called Active Time Battle first appeared, which added elements of real-time battles to turn-based battles and, in general, became much closer to what users can see today. And Final Fantasy VI was remembered as a true standard of the genre.

Most parts of the franchise are independent games with a unique world and characters. At the same time, there are common elements — Chocobo birds, considered the mascot of the series, or, for example, moogle creatures, which often help the heroes and simplify the gameplay. Fictional universes are built on the same principles of magic and the classification of characters depending on their skills and abilities. The series is the main franchise of Square Enix, the company has managed to sell about 173 million games of all licensed parts and spin-offs of (according to the company’s financial report for 2022).

The series received positive reviews from critics. Six games in the main series have achieved scores above 9 on the pop culture review site Metacritic.0 points: Final Fantasy VI — 91, Final Fantasy VIII — 90, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII — 92, Final Fantasy IX — 94.
