Upgrade an eligible PlayStation®4 game to the digital PlayStation®5 version (US)

Certain PS4™ games can be upgraded to the digital PS5™ version of the game on a PS5 console. 

When using a PS5™ console, you may have the option to upgrade a disc or digital PS4 game to the digital PS5 version. Depending on the game, this upgrade may occur at no additional cost, may require a purchase, and may be available for a limited time. An internet connection is required.

Upgrade an eligible PS4 game on disc on a PS5 console with a disc drive

To upgrade an eligible PS4 game on disc to the digital PS5 version, you will need a PS5 console with a disc drive. PS4 game discs can’t be used with the PlayStation®5 Digital Edition.

1. Sign in to your existing account on your PS5 console (or create an account).

2. Insert the eligible PS4 game disc.

3. Go to the game hub for the PS4 game.

4. Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.

5. Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.

6. After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 digital game by inserting the PS4 game disc. You will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game.

To upgrade a PS4 game disc to the digital PS5 version, your PS4 game disc needs to have originated from the same country as your account for PlayStation Network. If you have problems upgrading, please check the country/region your account was set up for via the residential address in Account Management.

Upgrade an eligible PS4 digital game on a PS5 console with a disc drive or PS5 Digital Edition

To upgrade an eligible digital PS4 game you already own to the digital PS5 version:

1. Sign in to your existing account on your PS5 console.

2. Find the PS5 game in PlayStation™Store, or by Search, and go to the game hub for the PS5 game.

3. Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.

4. Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.

5. After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 game.

PS4 games redeemed as a PlayStation®Plus benefit are not eligible for a PS5 upgrade unless otherwise indicated.

Damit ich mit meinen Freunden die eine Ps4 zusammen spielen kann, brauche ich die PS4 Version. Bis jetzt habe ich nur auf der PS5 Version gespielt.

Jetzt die Frage: Kann ich mir auch einfach die PS4 Version als Disc holen und dann Geld sparen im Vergleich zur Ultimate Edition für 100 €? Ich spiele kein Ultimate Team und brauche keine FIFA Points/die PS5 Version.

Die PS5 ist ja abwärtskompatibel, aber geht das auch bei neuen Spielen, die erst nach Release der PS5 rauskamen?
