Can my PC run FIFA 20?

By Cliff Henjum June 18, 2019

This year’s E3 brought us the inevitable announcement of the upcoming FIFA 20, and it will be releasing on September 27, 2019. The FIFA series dates all the way back to the early 1990s, and this one is taking another step forward in the graphics department. Its system requirements are a good amount higher than its predecessor, FIFA 19. As of the time of writing this, the star of the cover is yet to be announced. In fact, you can still vote on who you think should get the cover spot right here.

Whether you’re sprinting down the field with Messi or setting up a cross with Ronaldo, your PC needs to be able to pass the minimum system requirements if you want to actually see the play. A Core i3-2100 or Phenom II X4 965 are the minimum CPU models needed for FIFA 20 which are fairly common CPU requirements as seen with games like Spyro Reignited, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, and FIFA 19. If we take a look at the GPU requirements, that’s where we can see a significant jump (2 generations). FIFA 20 asks that your PC have at least a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7850. The RAM requirement didn’t change from 19 to 20 so you still need 8 GB of RAM to start playing.

In order to run FIFA 20 with max graphics on your PC, it will need to pass the recommended system requirements. It’s honestly not a monumental jump from the minimum requirements to the recommended — in fact, the amount of RAM needed remains at 8 GB. It’s a small step up for video cards — a GeForce GTX 670 or a Radeon R9 270X will enable you to crank those graphics all the way up. As we move to the recommended CPU models needed, we see a larger gap between minimum and recommended than we did when looking at video cards. With at least a Core i3-6300T or an Athlon X4 870K in your computer’s CPU slot, it will pass the test and really let you see those players fly down the field in stunning detail. Don’t forget about having a 64-bit Windows 10 Operating System.

As the long-running FIFA franchise inches ever-closer towards photorealism, it’s no surprise that FIFA PC demands higher system requirements than all the other versions that come before it. Yet everyone with the recommended video cards – a GeForce GTX 670 or a Radeon R9 270X – will be rewarded by truly stunning in-game visuals.

With no FIFA Steam launch on the horizon you will need to download the Origin client to make the game work. Though it is easy to add the game to your Steam collection.

Game PC for FIFA 2020 (FIFA 20) — system requirements and description

Category: Gaming computers

System requirements

A weak computer for FIFA 2020 can handle the game quite well, a ten-year-old video card will give stable 60+ FPS even on a card with 2 GB of memory. But playing sports sims is very different from shooting enemies in shooters or controlling units in strategy games. The most convenient way is to lie down on the sofa, pick up the gamepad and kick the ball until you get bored.

For a large screen, you need a large resolution and comfortable gameplay will be only if there are no FPS drops and slowdowns. The big trouble with PC-adapted console games is that on PS4 and xBox One 30 FPS is fine, but on PC you need 60 FPS, preferably 120 or more. But there are no problems with this, even base cards give out more than a hundred frames on «ultra» settings.

Minimum

Such computer characteristics for FIFA 2020 are needed to get 40-50 FPS at minimum settings in FullHD resolution. Quite playable, but do not expect beautiful graphics — plastic men without shadows will run around the lawn, which looks like green asphalt, etc.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-2100;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB;
  • Disk space: 50 GB.

Recommended

These requirements for FIFA 2020 will help you get 60 FPS on high graphics settings in FullHD. Convenient and enough if you sit at the computer. FullHD is not the best resolution for large screens, 2K or 4K screens are better, they show a much sharper image, but to process such a number of pixels, you need a more powerful graphics card.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3550;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670;
  • Disk space: 50 GB.

High

These system requirements for FIFA 2020 are a little high, but modern components do not like to be combined with old hardware. A bad processor will slow down the entire computer, and chalked memory will not allow the video card to open up, and so on. With this set of equipment, you can play at maximum settings in 2K and 4K resolution. But if you’re building a computer for more than just sports sims, then a 4K monitor will be too demanding for the RTX 2060 SUPER. It will cope with FIFA 2020, but in some more graphic game you will have to set the resolution to a lower one.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K;
  • RAM: 8 GB with a frequency of 2666 MHz;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER;
  • Disk space: 50 GB on SSD.

Maximum

Such a computer for FIFA 2020 will give from 240 frames at maximum graphics settings in 4K resolution. Weaker hardware will also cope with this task, for example, the RTX 2070 SUPER will produce 180+ frames at 4K with maximum settings, which is also not bad. But a computer for 4K gaming should be more powerful — the RTX 2070 SUPER is rather weak for 4K, you need an RTX 2080 SUPER or RTX 2080 Ti. The same applies to the processor, it does not fit into the FIFA 2020 system requirements, it is too powerful, but a weaker CPU model cannot be recommended for a video card of this level, i7-10700K is the best choice for 4K.

  • OS: Windows 7/8/8. 1/10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K;
  • RAM: 8 GB with a frequency of 3200 MHz;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER;
  • Disk space: 50 GB on SSD m.2.

Processor

There is no such rigid hierarchy and variety of models as in video cards. There are only a few options for gaming processors — Intel Core i5, i7 and i9, each for its own tasks. There’s also AMD Ryzen, which are decent processors with a lot of cores.

It should be understood that the technical characteristics of the processor do not always indicate its performance, the core architecture and the technical process are of great importance and these two parameters improve over time in each new model. That is, two processors with the same number of cores and frequency can have completely different levels of performance. As a rule, a newer model processes information faster.

  • Intel Core i5-10600
  • Intel Core i5-10600K
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3500
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600X

These processors are about the same level of performance and price. Disputes between fans of AMD and Intel do not subside to this day, it makes no sense to wedge into this holivar. These processors are well suited for building a gaming computer for a FullHD or 2K monitor. They are rather weak for blogging or streaming, but they will cope with any game 100%. Put it in your computer for FIFA 2020 and forget about performance problems.

  • Intel Core i7-10700
  • Intel Core i7-10700K
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800X

The next step in performance — these guys already have 8 cores with good frequency and additional threads per core. Skewed towards Ryzen due to the fact that it supports a higher frequency of RAM. In synthetic benchmarks, Ryzen leads the way with up to 15% performance gains over the i7-10700K, but in gaming, Intel pulls ahead with up to 15% more frames per second in some individual projects. AT 95% they will produce exactly the same result.

These processors are best taken for computers with a resolution of 2K / 4K, they are suitable for maintaining your vlog, allowing you to quickly process heavy videos, work with large three-dimensional scenes and stream.
