Expansive Campaign – Many real-world locations have been captured using photogrammetry to recreate a living, immersive environment, and multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill list targets provide a whole new perspective on each mission. Take on the Nazi plot solo or work with a partner, with improved co-op mechanics allowing you to share ammo and items, give orders and heal each other.

Advanced Gunplay Physics and Traversal – Use ziplines, slide down slopes and shimmy along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or to sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Factor in rifle stock and barrel options along with gravity, wind and heart rate while you line up your sights on the target.

High Calibre Customisation – Use workbenches to customise and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a huge variety of options. On top of that you can select the ammo to suit your target, from armour-piercing right down to non-lethal.

Invasion Mode – Campaign Drop in PvP and Co-Op – Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.

Tense Adversarial Multiplayer – Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.

Enhanced Kill Cam – More realistic and grisly than ever, the trademark X-ray kill cam returns, showing you the true destructive power of each shot. Bones deflect bullets unpredictably, ripping a new path through enemy bodies. SMGs and pistols can also trigger kill cams, including multiple shots in dramatic slow motion.

All in all, the protagonist — the permanent Carl with the voice of a stereotypical action hero — has become an even more dangerous killing machine, although skirmishes with several opponents rarely end in something good, even on the average difficulty level. </p> <p> Locations can be very beautiful — it’s a pleasure to do sniper work on such </p> <h3> ⇡# </h3> <p><strong> In war, all means are good </strong> </h3> <p> Maps have become larger, and therefore the number of ways to complete tasks has increased.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> You can look for convenient positions for firing a sniper rifle, although you will have to face the fact that there are not so many opportunities to muffle the sounds of shots. But subsonic cartridges, added in the last game, come to the rescue — almost no one will hear you with them. </p> <p> You can run around with a machine gun at the ready and eliminate everyone in close combat, although this tactic is still not very attractive — the character is clumsy, he cannot jump, he does not climb over all obstacles and sticks to all walls in a row if he moves half-bent. It’s a pity that some missions force you to face enemies in narrow corridors with no other choice — this is a problem for all Sniper Elites; in such an uncomplicated way, the authors are constantly trying to add variety to the gameplay, which is not so necessary. </p> <p> A romantic walk with the Panzerfaust </p> <p> Carl’s main task is almost always the same, but many of the maps are so big that there are additional tasks along the way: either to find documents, or to destroy someone, or to blow something up.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> So if you are trying to do everything possible at the level, and even without raising the alarm once again, then you spend a lot of time clearing the location — you can stretch the passage for a couple of dozen hours. </p> <p> At the same time, you will find new points from which you will be able to start the mission when you restart, and you will also find workbenches. Weapon modifications bring to mind the multiplayer modes of Call of Duty: all kinds of sights, handles, stocks, butts, barrels — each gun has everything of its own. Something is opened for completing missions, something — for finding workbenches or completing tasks. And each body kit has pros and cons: sometimes the recoil will increase, then the aiming speed will decrease, then the reload will slow down. </p> <p> Even ammunition can be seen </p> <h3> ⇡# </h3> <p><strong> Enemy at the gate </strong> </h3> <p> These are not the most important innovations, and you probably won’t even remember that some of this was not in the previous games of the series.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> Much more important is not the most original, but a great new «chip» — invasions. A mechanic that fits into Sniper Elite even better than Dark Souls. The second player takes on the role of an elite German fighter and becomes a kind of «sniper hunter» — he must find Karl and defeat him. </p> <p> The soldiers in this case become allies of the sniper hunter — as soon as the soldiers notice Karl, his position is marked on the map. Before that, neither one nor the second player knows where the enemy is — you have to look for clues like the corpses left or use the phone, which will show the coordinates where the opponent was last seen. But the phone can be booby-trapped — mindlessly picking up the phone is not worth it. </p> <p> At first, you feel awkward in this role. </p> <p> When you play the campaign, invasions can be turned off — if you don’t want someone to ruin your flawless passage of the level. But when you leave them on, it’s fun for both parties. The sniper closely monitors the movements of the soldiers, calculating who is more active than ordinary dummies (I immediately recall a similar mode in Watch Dogs), and the hunter tries not to give himself away and waits for the target in those places where plot tasks are completed on this map.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> But you can’t sit in the same position for a long time — the “campers” are threatened with instant death if they do not start moving. </p> <p> It even took into account that the invading player can get to the duo playing in co-op — if one of the snipers is defeated, the second will have three minutes to take revenge on the German soldier, otherwise he will win. In general, the mode was «screwed» obviously not for show — a separate progress system is connected with it. The more Carls you eliminate, the sooner you unlock new weapons and skins. </p> <p> Mute sounds only in the campaign — when playing as a German, this is of little use </p> <h3> ⇡# </h3> <p><strong> War never changes </strong> </h3> <p> Such a simple idea significantly refreshes the gameplay of Sniper Elite 5, which by today’s standards seems a bit outdated. We are already for the fifth time going to the battlefields of World War II (this time to France) and shooting back the Nazis, almost single-handedly defeating Germany and destroying her plans, and all this is, to put it mildly, not fresh.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> There are more opportunities, cards are growing, the arsenal is expanding, but the backbone remains the same — I want to see more significant development. </p> <p> They didn’t even try to make the plot interesting. Old characters appear, about whom you don’t remember anything at all, you meet new heroes, whose fate is absolutely not interesting. Already after the second story video, I want to skip the chatter and move on — playing is much more interesting than watching. Collectibles this time tried to better connect with what is happening in the missions, but you still grab them, just to keep your eyes peeled, and not to learn something about the game world. </p> <p> You want to skip videos and in order to quickly see which region you will be brought to this time unnecessary additional modes, rather than focusing on one thing. There’s Survival here, where you defend command posts from waves of enemies — that’s okay, it can be fun for a couple of evenings. But why they introduced a full-fledged multiplayer is a mystery.<img loading='lazy' src='' /> There are already four modes in the «Multiplayer Game», including team battle and the battle of four squads, and it is decidedly unclear who the target audience of such online fun is. I would like to see more attention paid to the campaign instead of all this, but alas. </p> <p> <strong> *** </strong> </p> <p> Sniper Elite 5 is exactly what you would expect from a game of that name. The most important innovation was the invasions, which noticeably revived what was happening and fit perfectly into the series. The rest of the new «chips» are improvements to existing features that distinguish Sniper Elite from other sniper action games.
