This page of the IGN Wiki Guide & Walkthrough for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim includes information on every Skill available in the base game, DLC, Special Editions, Anniversary Editions. It is consistent and compatible with every platform, including PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Skills determine your proficiency at everything you can do in Skyrim. Unlike previous Elder Scrolls games, where classes determined what skills needed improvement in order to gain levels, the addition of Perks deepens the specialization in these skills.

Remember that this game is very flexible should you consider changing play styles mid-game. You won’t need to start a new character; all you have to do is continue to use whatever is necessary to improve the skill in order to get better!

With the addition of Legendary Skills, when one of your skills reaches level 100, you can make it legendary. The skill returns to level 15 and all the Perk Points you’ve spent in it’s tree are refunded. Then you can evolve it again. But note that Legendary Skills have no advantage when against non-legendary skills. With the addition of legendary skills in the patch 1.9 the max level for your character was lifted and you can evolve indefinetly…

Other Ways To Train Skills

While the age-old saying of «Practice makes perfect» certainly holds true in Skyrim, there are other ways to develop your Skills without having to go through repetitive motions (sans exploits and cheats). You can read Skill Books or find Trainers that specialize in certain skills. Either of these options can precipitate your desired skill to 100. Also, take note that trainers can only train you five times per level. To train from them again, you must increase your level. This limit applies to other trainers as well; so if you trained twice for your current level, other trainers can only train you three more times until you level up.

Some followers can also train you. (Faeldan, Aela, Farkas, Vilkas, etc. are good examples). The good thing about them is that you can get your invested money back by going through their inventory, which practically enabled you to get free training.

An alternative to these is to beat up your horse.  If you have the horse Shadowmere, which is obtained by progressing through the Dark Brotherhood questline, you can constantly attack him for basically unlimited XP.  Shadowmere is virtually invincible to melee, magic, and ranged damage.  The only thing you have to worry about is jumping off of mountains

Shouts — The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Wiki Guide

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Wiki Guide

By Stephanie Lee, Hector Madrigal, Brendan Graeber, +162.5k more

updated

A Shout is a specialized language native to dragons. It is said that people were once born with the ability to speak in the dragon tongue, but have lost it over time. Now only a very select/rare few called Dragonborn have the natural aptitude for this ancient language. They can master a shout much quicker than others. Congratulations, like everyone else who plays this game, Your character is one of those rare breeds.

Shouts are separate from Powers and other magic. Shouts do not consume Magicka, but do undergo varying recharge periods. The longer the duration (hold the button) of the shout, the more powerful the effect and the longer the cooldown period. After using a shout, this global cooldown period is indicated by a blue coloring of the on-screen compass. When this coloring fades, the player is again able to use a shout. It’s important to note that there are some points in the game you will HAVE to use shouts to get through obstacles, to various platforms or even to fight.

advertisement

Each Shout is comprised of three Words. Not surprisingly, the Shout increases in strength as you learn more words, culminating in a longer and more powerful version of the Shout once all three Words are combined. The individual words of each Shout are learned from Word Walls in the world. Once you find a word, you must unlock it with a Dragon soul to use it. You can upgrade a shout by spending dragon souls on it to make it even more powerful( only if the shout is upgradable). Dragon souls are obtained by slaying dragons.

Shout List

  • Animal Allegiance
  • Aura Whisper
  • Become Ethereal
  • Call Dragon
  • Call of Valor
  • Clear Skies
  • Disarm
  • Dismaying Shout
  • Dragonrend
  • Drain Vitality
  • Elemental Fury
  • Fire Breath
  • Frost Breath
  • Ice Form
  • Kyne’s Peace
  • Marked for Death
  • Slow Time
  • Storm Call
  • Soul Tear
  • Summon Durnehviir
  • Throw Voice
  • Unrelenting Force
  • Whirlwind Sprint

Note that Drain Vitality, Soul Tear, and Summon Durnehviir are from the Dawnguard DLC.

Many shouts can be found through the course of the main quest and some will even be given to you (this will save you from having to go dragon hunting). Feel free to view the full list of Shout Locations. For some easy ones, watch the video below.

But tonight I wanted to read books from the game, the console helped. Where to get blood for Skyrim’s Beyond the Common quest

Beyond the Common is one of the Daedric Prince’s quests in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , usually completed by players towards the end of the main Skyrim quest line. In a small hut far north of the College of Winterhold lives Septimus Signus, a mage driven mad by studying the Elder Scrolls and an unwitting agent of Hermaeus Mora.

To complete the quest, players must collect five types of blood from the races of Tamriel, which, when combined, act in the same way as the blood of the Dwemer when unlocking the ancient device. Collecting the blood of dead elves is easy enough, but finding corpses in a decent amount of time is another story entirely. However, it’s all worth it to get Oghma Infinium.

Introduction to Transmundan begins with the player talking to Septimus Signus, a mage who lives in an outpost on the outskirts of Skyrim’s frozen northern ice fields. To get to this outpost, head straight north from the College of Winterhold within a few minutes — after passing the Temple of Sky Haven, a dim icon should appear on the in-game compass to guide you.

Go inside and talk to Septimus Signus, who is standing next to the giant Dwemer cube. He is convinced that the cube holds the legendary Heart of Lorkhan and tasks the player with deciphering the Lexicon at Mzark’s Tower, which can be accessed via Blackreach. After discovering the Elder Scroll, players return to Septimus and obtain an Essence Extractor to mimic Dwemer blood by fusing the blood of all Mer races in Tamriel.

Where to find Altmer blood

The Altmer, or High Elves, are natives of the Summerset Isles and the principal members of the Thalmor. They renamed their homeland Alinor before the events of Skyrim to remember their past, and tend to harbor a dislike for humans and beasts as elven overlords. Altmer can be found in the following locations:

  • Northern Watchtower: Altmer Guards;
  • North Pier: Thalmor Soldiers;
  • Shrine of Talos: Body near the sanctuary;
  • Clearspring Camp: A body inside a spike trap.

The Altmer make up almost the entire Thalmor army, so in search of their blood, players can simply run into a roaming Thalmor patrol (or return to the Thalmor Embassy) and collect the blood from their corpses.

Where to Find Bosmer Blood

Bosmer, or Wood Elves, are natives of Valenwood and tenants of the Green Pact. This is an agreement between the Bosmer and the mysterious forest spirit Y’ffre, which gives the elves special abilities that allow them to take only from animals, but never from nature. The best places to find Bosmer in Skyrim are as follows:

  • Bthardamz: Orkendor, enemy mage;
  • Liar’s Refuge: body right at the entrance;
  • Autumn glade: Body under a canopy.

Bosmer can be found throughout Skyrim as hunters, adventurers, scouts, and more. They are especially common in the Rift and Falkreat, although wood elves can be found in various fortresses and dungeons and elsewhere.

Where to find Dunmer blood

The Dunmer, or Dark Elves, are a refugee people from Morrowind who once worshiped three living gods. Having become refugees after the eruption of Red Mountain and the collapse of the Tribunal, the Dunmer work in Skyrim as mages, mercenary warriors, or engage in dark magic and theft. Blood Dunmer can usually be found in the following locations:

  • Solstheim: NPCs throughout the island;
  • Knifepoint Mine: Champion of Boethiah;
  • Liar’s Refuge: body in the middle of the cave;
  • Smelly Cave: Body at the entrance.

Dunmer can be found throughout Skyrim in a variety of professions. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty (or if you’re a dedicated stormtrooper), many Dunmer can be found in Windhelm’s Gray Quarter as well.

Where to Find Falmer Blood

The Falmer, once known as the Snow Elves, are a twisted race of the Underworld with a tragic history. They once called the frozen north of Skyrim their home, but thousands of years ago the Falmer were forced to go underground and fall into slavery to the Nords and Dwemer. The following Falmer locations are not to be explored by untrained Dragonborn:

  • Forgotten Valley: Deep underground;
  • Liar’s Refuge: Enemies and corpses everywhere;
  • Evening Cave: Enemies everywhere;
  • Blackreach: Enemies are everywhere.

Falmer can be found in almost every Dwemer ruin in Skyrim, with the exception of those on the island of Solstheim, where the Rieklings live instead. Thus, exploring almost any Dwemer ruin can lead the player to Falmer blood.

Where to find Orsimer’s blood

The Orsimer, known to most as orcs, has a history steeped in betrayal and outsider behavior. Their god Malacath, a Daedric prince, was once the god Trinimac and was then swallowed and regurgitated by Boethiah. The Orsimer were created when they rubbed their skin with this dung instead of turning away from their god. Orsimer can be found in the following locations:

  • Cracktusk Keep: Rogues everywhere;
  • Clean springs camp: bandits at the entrance;
  • Liar’s Refuge: robber at the entrance;
  • Rat Hole: Bandits are everywhere.

The Orsimer are traditionally found in their own strongholds that dot Skyrim’s outer wilds, but capturing one of these strongholds is a task easier said than done. Many hunters and bandits are also Orsimer — just watch out for their characteristic green skin.

Where to Find Groups of the Dead

While knowing good places to find Mer blood individually is a good way to get started on transmundial recognition, it’s always easier to get things done as quickly as possible. There are not many places in Skyrim where you can find bodies belonging to all five races of mer, but there are a few in which you can find more than one in order to harvest faster.

  • Liar’s Retreat: Bosmer, Dunmer, Falmer, Orsimer;
  • Thalmor Embassy: Bosmer, Dunmer, Altmer;
  • Hoba’s Cave: Altmer, Dunmer, Bosmer;
  • Rogue and Mage Camps: Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orsimer.

The best place to collect the blood of several Mer at once is Liar’s Retreat, where the player only needs to find Altmer’s blood. In the Thalmor Embassy, players can find many Altmer, as well as a few Bosmer and Dunmer, although most of them are not hostile.
