With only a month to go, it’s time to start planning our Definitely Not E3 2022 schedule. This year is a little different because there is no E3 conference to speak of. Instead, this year will see revolve around a slate of digital showcases and press conferences you can watch from home. To make things a bit easier, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of every Not E3 2022 conference that’s been confirmed so far in Australian times. Some currently have times, and some have only planted a flag on a specific date. Others haven’t even decided on a day yet.

Updated /6/2022: Updated to correct the date for the Devolver Digital showcase. We apologise for the error, and blame it entirely on timezone conversion brain.

E3 2022

Insert funeral dirge here. E3 is of course cancelled in 2022, with neither an in-person nor digital show going ahead as planned. Unfortunate, we know, but it’s 2022 – we don’t need E3 to have a good time. Numerous publishers and platforms are stepping over E3’s still-warm corpse to proceed with the expensive showcases and announcements they already had in the works.

Below, you’ll find times and dates for every confirmed Not E3 2022 press conference in Australian times.

Cancelled Or Postponed

EA Play Live

Bring the band back in, we need another funeral dirge. EA has confirmed that its EA Play Live event will not happen in 2022. Instead, EA says it will be revealing games from its forthcoming slate ‘when the time is right for them.’ That may mean it will hold a showcase later in the year, or simply roll out announcements as they come to hand. Based on the frequent Dead Space livestreams, we’d say the “news as it comes to hand” method is the one EA is going with.

And the rest

Publishers that regularly hold E3 conferences and haven’t announced anything yet: Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Square Enix. If/when these publishers stake their claim on a Not E3 2022 conference timeslot, we will update this piece with Australian times to reflect it. Some, like Ubi and Square, have made it clear they’ve got games included in the Summer Game Fest broadcast. That may be all we get from them this year. As for Nintendo, it’s now almost too late to announce a Direct broadcast unless it is a day or two prior to screening. Now or never, Ninty. Now or never.

Concluded events

Editor’s note: This piece can and should be considered a living document. If you see it return to the front page as we move closer to E3 season, it’s because we’ve added new information to it.

Summer Game Fest Schedule, Livestreams, and Publishers

As it stands, E3 2022 is officially not happening this year, neither in-person nor digitally. But as we’ve all witnessed last year, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a cascade of livestreams. From Geoff Keighley’s seemingly endless Summer Game Fest to individual presentations from a number of publishers, there is a lot to look forward to. Probably too much. Don’t fret, though, as you can find the full schedule below. We’ll also be updating this list as more publishers confirm their presence in the summer of game reveals and trailers.

(Not) E3 2022 Schedule: Summer Game Fest Livestreams List and When They Start

Sit back, relax, and enjoy all the upcoming announcements and “world premiere” screams in your display of choice. You can find the full list of confirmed livestreams here, as well as all the canceled or unconfirmed presentations in the next section.

505 Games Showcase

When: Tuesday, May 17 at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET

Where: YouTube

What to expect from Summer Game Fest 2022

We know this counts for Spring rather than Summer, but hey, (not) E3 2022 is kicking off earlier than anticipated. This is the first showcase from the publisher, so we’ll have to wait and see what they bring to the table. As a reference, some of the games they’ve published recently are Control and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, but they have also partnered with the developers behind indie darlings like Inside and Limbo as well as Ghostrunner.

Warhammer Skulls Festival of Video Games 2022

When: Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET — this is for the announcement showcase, but the full event lasts until June 8 with other streams and updates

Where: Twitch

What to expect from Warhammer Skulls 2022

Fan of the Warhammer series? Warhammer Skulls is returning with a myriad of announcements to kick off June. You can expect world premieres, trailers, and a new look into upcoming games like Warrhammer 40,000: Darktide and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The developer also mentioned the presence of the latest updates and future plans for Total War: Warhammer IIIWarhammer: Vermintide 2, and Warhammer 40,000 Battlesector. Sounds like a packed (not) E3 2022 presentation.

State of Play (June)

When: Thursday, June 2 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from State of Play

While this is the younger sibling of PlayStation livestreams, State of Play promises nearly 30 minutes of “announcements and updates” around everything PlayStation-related. Specifically, the showcase is focused on third-party partners and a look into games being developed for PlayStation VR2. So no, don’t expect to see the new God of War.

That being said, a tweet on May 31 showed the Summer Game Fest branding, so who knows, there may be a surprise in there to be included as part of the event. This also means the State of Play is officially canon in the Geoff Kehley multiverse of not E3 2022 announcements.

Sonic Central

When: Tuesday, June 7 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from the Sonic Central showcase

Surprise for all Sonic fans, as Sonic Central introduces itself as a showcase featuring a look into upcoming projects, as well as partnerships and events. This is happening after we got to see quite a bit about Sonic Frontiers, so what exactly we’ll be seeing here is a mystery.

Summer Game Fest

When: Thursday, June 9 at 11 a. m. PT/2 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from Summer Game Fest 2022

Geoff Keighley’s showcase is the first to kick off the schedule (at least for the time being) starting on June 9. You can expect announcements from publishers like Square Enix, Riot, Capcom, Activision, EA, Gearbox, and more. If last year’s edition serves as an indication, you can expect the biggest bulk of announcements to be part of Summer Game Fest, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it. Of course, it’s hard to know exactly how much each publisher is going to be showing here or perhaps holding onto it for other showcases, either during the summer or closer to the end of the year.

Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition

When: Thursday, June 9 after Summer Game Fest 2022 wraps up — exact times are yet to be announced

Where: The exact channels are unknown at the moment, but keep an eye on the official Twitter account for future details

What to expect from Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition

This is the tenth anniversary of Day of the Devs, which has Double Fine and iam8bit collaborating once more to present a showcase of indie games. If you’re looking for the niche stuff, this is the stream to watch, as it’s bound to present both announcements of new projects and updates on existing titles as well.

Devolver Marketing Countdown to Marketing

When: Thursday, June 9 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from Devolver Marketing Countdown to Marketing

Let’s keep going through the (not) E3 2022 schedule. In case you feel you didn’t have enough amount of marketing with Summer Game Fest, Devolver Digital is closing that day with their usual cinematic galore. As well as another bizarre showcase, you can expect around four game announcements and updates on what’s to come for the publisher. Maybe we’ll finally have a release date for Cult of the Lamb. One can hope.

Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022

When: The event runs Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10, ending with the video game-focused day at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch, as well as Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, and possibly your microwave, too

What to expect from Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022

You may be wondering why this is part of the list — well, Geoff Keighley is co-hosting it alongside Mari Takahashi. In a tweet made on May 16, Keighley said that there’ll be “news and announcements about shows based on video games and Netflix Games news/world premieres too.”

With the recently revealed lineup, we now know to expect panels and trailers about The Cuphead Show, Sonic Prime, Dota: Dragon’s Blood, Tekken: Bloodline, and over 10 Netflix games including Lucky Luna, Poinpy, and La Casa de Papel. In addition, both Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Arcane are getting their own showcases on Wednesday, June 8 starting at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.

Guerrilla Collective 2022

When: Saturday, June 11 at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from Guerrilla Collective 2022

According to the announcement made on May 16, we can expect “exclusives and game reveals” during the livestream. Guerrilla Collective tends to be a chill and insightful stream focused on showcasing developers from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s often a good time, which makes for a great plan for your Saturday morning.

Wholesome Direct 2022

When: Saturday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. PT/12:30 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube

#WholesomeDirect will premiere on Saturday, June 11 at 9:30am PT! New game reveals, exclusive footage, and even games that will launch DURING the show!

What to expect from the Wholesome Direct 2022

Looking for some chill and cute games? The Wholesome Direct is going to have news on Snufkin: Melody of MoominvalleyPuffPals: Island SkiesCoffee Talk Episode 2Terra NilSCHiMMail Time, and more. According to the announcement, there’ll be “nearly 100” indie games in total, so there is a lot to look forward to.

Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase

When: Sunday, June 12 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase

Xbox Games and Bethesda are more than buddies now, so they’re hosting a showcase together. While we haven’t seen much of Starfield yet, this would mark the perfect occasion to showcase a long gameplay clip of how it’s going to work, similarly to how the Fallout 4 went down back in the day. Without games like Doom or anything from Arkane Studios on the horizon (except for Redfall) this could be its chance to shine. Plus, it’s supposed to come out this year, right? …right?

Anyway, as for Xbox, you can expect a stream of “world premiere” sounds with tons of trailers to follow, as we’re already used to. I really wish we get to see more of the new Fable, but something tells me that one is a few horizons away. Pun semi-intended.

PC Gaming Show

When: Sunday, June 12 at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 E.T.

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from the PC Gaming Show

The PC Gaming Show is coming back with more announcements dedicated to PC, and sometimes beyond that as well. I fully expect at least one or two jokes about the Steam Deck for this year, as well as a couple surprise indies. It’s a chill live stream and one that usually doesn’t get a massive highlight, but I always come out from it with a few titles or studios to keep an eye out for, which may be the case for you as well.

Future Games Show

When: Saturday, June 12 — 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from the Future Games Show

Let’s keep going through the (not) E3 2022 schedule. Future Games Show tends to be a breezy mix of both indies and big publishers centered around PC and consoles. You may think that it has all been said and done by the time the showcase rolls in, but you’re always bound to be surprised with a few announcements, so definitely worth making the time for it.

Capcom Showcase

When: Monday, June 13 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from the Capcom Showcase

If you thought that Capcom had shown enough material in the State of Play showcase, well, there are around 35 minutes of news and updates on “previously announced Capcom titles,” according to their announcement. Can we expect some reveals? We’re not sure, but who knows, 35 minutes is quite a long time.

Save & Sound Online Music Festival

When: June 20 to June 23 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET each day

Where: Steam, YouTube, and Twitch

What to expect from Save & Sound 2022

Game studio and publisher Bedtime Digital has announced the return of Save & Sound Festival. This time around, you can expect over 60 musical segments from games such as UnpackingChicory: A Colorful Tale, a Frostpunk and South of the Circle collaboration from 11 Bit Studios, and tons more. In addition to online concerts and deep dives, there’ll be a ton of games on sale over at Steam, as well as some demos available.

IGN Summer of Gaming 2022

When: June — full schedule is yet to be announced

Where: YouTube and Twitch

What to expect from IGN Summer of Gaming 2022

During the third year of IGN Summer of Gaming, promising “trailers, gameplay, news and reveals for some of the biggest upcoming games, and exclusive content. ” All of this includes partnerships with “major developers” for announcements and interviews, as well as coverage of Summer Game Fest.

EA Play 2022 – Is EA Hosting a Livestream in (Not) E3 2022?

No, EA has canceled its plans for an EA Play Live event in 2022. The news broke back in March this year, and as a result, don’t expect to see the likes of Dead Space or whatever Bioware has been working on contained within one specific showcase. That being said, this doesn’t exclude the possibility of smaller streams focused on specific games or franchises. As for EA Play, however, that’s not in the cards.

Sony? Nintendo? Anyone Else?

It’s early to say what the (not) E3 2022 plans are for many other companies, including Sony and Nintendo. It’s likely that there are going to be announcements from both parties in some capacity, but we aren’t sure of how at the moment. This is just starting, for better or worse, so strap in. We’ll be here a while.
