Duke Nukem Forever was announced on April 27, 1997. It was stated that the game would use the Quake II engine.

Soon the UBRs are strong enough to take on the alien garrisons and reopen the Earth Defense Force base. UBR can run an old time machine on the base. The chicks use the machine to find the only hero ever to successfully fight off an alien invasion, Duke Nukem. Upon learning of UBR’s newly discovered ability to go back in time, the aliens form a strike force led by an ape named Silverback. His mission: destroy the UBR.
The storyline of Time To Kill sort of repeats itself again. A portal begins to open in the center of the strip club, and a woman emerges from there. After a brief firefight, Duke Nukem jumps into the closing portal while chasing the alien bastards. Duke discovers that he is in Earth’s post-apocalyptic future. Duke quickly realizes what the aliens have done… stole our «chicks»! Duke is dating United Chick Resistance or U.B.R. They explain how the aliens kill all the men and enslave the women to do their bidding.
This is no good, so Duke Nukem sets out to kill the alien invaders and save the Earth. After a series of strange and humorous missions at the end of the game, Duke Nukem repopulates the Earth with… you guessed it… him and a lot of chicks. Once again the Earth is safe. Duke needs some time to recover and rest…
