How to complete the Blood Palace as Dante in Devil May Cry 5? — Guides for DTF

At one point, I realized that I was preparing for its passage as for some kind of competition. I’ll tell you about what I did before I was able to pass the bloody palace for the first time. Longread is a little out, sorry.

6384
views

Some introduction.

The Bloody Palace is 101 floors where different combinations of mobs are collected on different difficulties and the need to kill most of the bosses. I decided to pass it honestly — which means without a super suit that opens after passing difficulty Dante must die . It’s not difficult and not interesting, because Dante has an ultimate ability: the Form of the Demon of Sin (FDG), which simply destroys all life, and with a supersuit you can stupidly spam it.

Why Dante?

Some lyrics from my life . Devil May Cry is my favorite game series. I don’t love any game or series of games as much as I love her. I went through all its parts ( even the disgusting second ). But Dante himself was never my favorite in them, because. it’s really complicated. If in the top three it was still somehow possible to take it out, because. there were only two weapons and two barrels, and only one style, then in the four — these are three weapons, three guns and FIVE styles. I generally keep quiet about the five, because this is the most complex character among all slashers and it is unlikely that they will ever do something more complicated and complex.

That’s why Dante was never my favorite, I felt that I didn’t reveal the full potential of his majesty ( I take hits, I don’t do SSS, I can’t normally meaningfully change styles and weapons in the heat of battle ). This constantly put pressure on me, especially after watching YouTube videos from virtuosos. In the top three I liked to play as Virgil, in the four for Nero, and in the top five again for Verga ( and in other parts I just didn’t like to play )).

What has changed? And the fact that in the best DMC that was made for the fans — I only had 100 hours played. What does 40 hours purely for Virgil. And I realized that it was time to change and I knew who was to blame. So the goal was set — learn to play as Dante . What does it mean? When can I consider that I can play for him? How do I know that I really managed to manage? We need a specific event that can speak about this Yes, and it is easier to achieve a specific goal.

Have you thought about making a couple of cool combos, which are a lot on YouTube? Or complete all missions on DMD difficulty on S ? Or go through the bloody palace on S ? I think you remember the name of the topic, so it’s clear that I chose for myself)

So. Actually the essence.

Banal things

First things first, you need to find almost all HP parts and demon form. Here are the blue orbs and the purple orbs. When I lacked literally one orb of one and the second type — these vids helped out a lot)

Next, you need to buy all the skills, except for super provocation. She is not so needed) For Dante you need to be fully armed. At a minimum, buy ALL styles and all skills from those weapons that you are going to use.

Now for some serious stuff:

Arsenal

Here, of course, everyone decides for himself, but I proceeded from my capabilities and the functionality that this or that weapon bestows. If you think you can manage with three or four weapons at a time, the flag is in your hands. I concluded for myself that I must definitely use ALL styles, and ALL weapons that I have in my hands. If something lies dead weight, it will distract me and somewhere my limited attention will not be enough and I will be mistaken. Don’t want to let that happen.

Swords:

My choice fell on Dante’s Devil Sword (DMD) and Cerberus . Why exactly these two?

DMD is a support weapon, it is a weapon that does not deal as much damage as the others, but it can help you when you use other weapons ( it is mainly a skill Around the World and the ability to shoot down nearby light enemies when they approach Hightimes without interrupting the charge of heavier attacks ). Yes, with it you can do very cool things, but the goal is not that, but to go through the bloody palace. Plus, this is in fact a classic Metezhnik from the previous parts, so you don’t need to relearn much for it.

Cerberus is not the most difficult weapon to master, as for me, but it can be both damaging and very fast ( which means that will not be able to beat you in the middle of long animations). It is also VERY functional. There are LOTS of situations where it turns out to be the most easily implemented weapon to counter someone. Examples:

— Scissors of Death are flying at you ( ghost): Revolver ( ordinary spinner)

— Infernal Antecores are running at you ( chelas with two swords ) and you want to get rid of them at once Revolution1: 900 ( Electric Circular )

— You’re being hit by some unknown bullshit and you need to stop all the damage as soon as possible — Ice Age ( Ice Dome )

— You need to put someone into the «don’t do shit and just lie down» — Kingslayer ( Electric Combo ) or Thunderbolt ( Electric Balls ).

— And if you need a lot of damage and very urgently — Hot little thing ( fire combination ).

And many, many other situations. This is a weapon that, like no other alone, is able to adapt to any opponents.

Revolution

But there is one more important thing — Cerberus can keep the enemy in the air as long as you like, but more on that later.

Firearms:

I opted for Double Kalina Ann and pistols: Ebony and Ivory .

Pistols are needed purely for functional things — to hold the enemy in the air for a couple of moments, while I think what to do with him next and shoot down the flying projectiles of enemies ( specifically: this is the last form of Urizen and the Cerberus Leader in electric form ). I recommend turning on diesel fuel during their use, because. this makes the effect noticeable.

I consider the double bazooka as the main firearm. First of all, it is natural their colossal damage that they give out. It’s huge. Seriously. This is of course Megacascade ( beam ), which can inject 3k damage, but not the only one. In general, it’s amazing how many more useful features there are.
Cascade ( mini beam ), which gives good damage in short lines.
Lots of Twins ( Explosive Rackets ) that fly out and CHASE the target wherever it is and wherever it moves across the field.
Hysterical Twins ( Explosive Missiles near ) that DESTROY large enemies if they stumble or kneel like no other move in the game.

But more interesting to me is Explosive Twins ( Airborne Special Shot ). It can give out instant small damage: turn on the Shooter style for a moment, shoot, and return to the previous business. This shot not only deals instant damage, but also lifts an enemy below you from the ground or throws them higher than the one you are juggling in the air. And this shot also makes it possible to stay in the air longer, because. an enemy picked up from the ground makes it possible to bounce off it.

You can also leave one of the bazookas on the ground by holding down the shooter style button. Kek.

Lots of twins

In general, an important thought from this whole block is that you need to study the functionality of each attack . One attack can have multiple uses. Unexpected applications. And then we remember that one weapon has a dozen tricks, and there are also a dozen weapons, and four styles, and two dozen different enemies. Therefore, I do NOT recommend taking more weapons than you can take out)

At such moments you feel what the depth of the gameplay means.

Styles

When I started playing as Dante, I had two styles: Sword Master, as the main one for damage, and if suddenly something goes wrong — Trickster. I thought that the Shooter was weak, and the Guardsman was for virtuosos, which I am not (we are not talking about other styles in the previous parts).

Here I want to emphasize that ALL styles are needed.

Swordmaster is NOT ONLY for damage, but also for functionality. These are opportunities. From the examples in Cerberus, I showed that the weapon is able to counter different situations, and you need to get away from enemy attacks not only with the Trickster or the Guardsman. About why not only them — a little later.

Trickster . No revelations here: this is a style to dodge damage and reduce or increase the distance with the enemy in short lines. Two important little things: in the Devil Trigger ( DT ) — you can do THREE times more rebounds if you have Dante’s Devil Sword. Second: banal spam Lunge ( normal deshi ) makes you ALMOST invulnerable to damage.

Guardsman . Here about the revelations that I made for myself during the study. Today, in order to block without taking damage, you don’t need to perfectly parry, it’s enough to have a charge of DT. This is important, it allows you to solve many unexpected problems. In any incomprehensible situation — cut down the Guardsman and just cut in Block and catch the blows and wait for the moments to get out of the batch. And this is not the most difficult action — USEFUL. Why? Because there is skill Guards Revenge . This is not only the ability to block one ANY attack without paying the DT scale, but also 500 damage that can be dealt for one point of the Guardsman scale. Don’t like Rage( red lizards )? Pour Guards Revenge into it by combining it with Cerberus. Virgil in the form of a demon does not let you breathe? Pour it into each of his moves. And so it is in many situations.

Remember that she only blocks ONE hit at any range.

Virgil suffered from this technique more than others

And most importantly — you don’t need to be a virtuoso for this.

I think some virtuosos complained that they lowered the difficulty threshold. After all, in the four you had to sweat a lot in order to make endless dashes in the Trickster, and to block normally in the Guardsman. But depending on how complex Dante has become in the top five, I think the developers took these measures consciously.

Shooter . Here, in fact, I said everything already when I painted the double Kalina Ann, because if swords can be used without the Master of the Sword style, then a firearm without an Arrow is almost not played.

Four S

Separate column for one skill? Seriously? Yes.

Why is only one skill singled out? Because in most difficult levels it should be applied if done right.

What is the point? If you have the coolest value on the style counter SSS ( which I congratulate you on, this is already worthy)), , then the game will allow you to turn into the Sin Demon Form for a couple of seconds for FREE. And in it you can inflict HUGE damage in these couple of seconds. And everything would be fine, but if you deal such damage: you are considered even more stylish and SSS — saved and after a couple of seconds you can AGAIN enter FDG and do something else in it. Such a vicious circle in reverse ( blessed circle? ): by doing cool things — you can do even cooler things by earning another circle and again and again and again. And this happens until there are live enemies or you start spamming enemies with one attack ( you will lose your style and cannot enter again ) or you will not be hit in the gap between the FDH or you will not have time to exit the FDH and then you will be in this form to the end by spending the entire scale ( which is also not bad, actually )).

This skill alone makes the STYLE mechanic ( which used to be mostly purely for its ) — makes it an important one to keep an eye on and take into account. And that is why I wrote earlier that enemies need to be countered not with banal dodges, but to hit them in weak spots and repel attacks, because this greatly raises the rating of the style.

Also, everything that makes your gameplay «stylish» raises it:
— use different combos
— change different weapons
— apply different styles
— hit several enemies at the same time
— finish off enemies with special moves
— dodge in time with the Trickster
— defend perfectly by the Guardsman ( and not ideal — by the guards revenge )
— provocations ( is especially important air )

And all this — now becomes IMPORTANT, purely because of one skill. But he more than compensates for this by giving access to damage measured in thousands of units.

Three small FDG chips:

1. FDG activation interrupts any of your animations, due to which you can get rid of very long recovery ( like reloading after Megacascade ). Due to this, you can make very effective combos or dodge inevitable damage.

2. If it so happened that you charged FDG, but never got to SSS , then you can still switch to FDG and quickly finish off the enemy NOT losing the entire FDG scale, but only a small part of it. Killing the last enemy forcibly interrupts even full FDG activation.

3. In the end, even if you have charged FDG, but the end of the battle is still far away — press and release Pause . Discard the FDG charge.

I also want to note that due to the fact that you need to have convenient access to the Devil Trigger button without slowing down in battle, I had to change the layout:

By the way, I passed the palace with DualSense on PC)

I would call this skill the most interesting skill in the entire franchise. It gives the right feeling: it can only be used with effort and deserving, only if you are cool LIKE DANTE, and having received it, you become much stronger. At the moment the skill is activated, the pleasure breaks through all sorts of boundaries: the game deserves praise for you, and the problems go away before your eyes.

The same POWER!

Airborne

Separately, I want to highlight the need to hover in the air, because. this is a very important skill when fighting normal enemies. This is because most enemies can’t do anything while you’re in the air.

This means that you can travel by air from one part of the arena to another safely. So, by the way, you can at the same time examine what is down there and draw conclusions about what to do next or what to be afraid of when you land.

But more important to note — juggling . The so-called jagles allow you to beat the enemy in the air, preventing him from landing and getting up. There are hundreds of opportunities to juggle in DMK. They are usually ( but not always ) based on the cancellation of any animation of the player character, through the skill Leap from the enemy . The thing is complicated. At one time, when I studied it, I even succeeded in something, but when I went to YouTube, I realized how low I was. It was very sad and embarrassing.

But sometimes you SHOULD juggle. Especially in the last arenas, being on the ground for more than five seconds is too dangerous. And with this, once again, Cerberus helps a lot. He has an air Revolver ( krutilka ) — it is easy to execute, during the execution it keeps the enemy at the same level and most importantly — it SLOWLY lowers you down, which makes it possible to slowly CANCEL this attack due to P burp from enemy . And run it again. And again. And again. So you can twist thousands of damage until you get lost or the enemy dies.

In the future, you can do crazy things with this jump cancel, but the goal is to go through the bloody palace and this will be enough for this. In fact, during the battle, you often want to fall down or jump out of the environment of enemies or simply climb higher — and this skill is already showing itself. It’s just not as effective.

Revolver in the air

Enemies and bosses

It is important to know not only your capabilities, but also the capabilities of your enemies. Ideally, know all their attacks, and even be able to distinguish when each opponent starts to make this or that attack.

there are a lot of enemies, and especially bosses, then I would recommend learning how to fight with the most problematic enemies: like Infernal Antenors, Infernal Judeka ( summoners ), Rage and Empusa Queen. Fortunately, there is Void for this, where you can not only test weapons and techniques, but also, without haste and pressure, see what different enemies can do and what blows they have vulnerabilities to. I will leave this fascinating process of research to you, because. I will take away the feeling of discovering something new.

A real fight is certainly not a cozy emptiness, but even the very knowledge of how to beat this or that adversary will greatly simplify life, because. in the heat of battle, the head is already so busy that it also conducts experiments on vulnerabilities.

Bosses are no less of a problem. If there may not be any special problems with the first two or four ( but if there are, it’s okay, I’m only talking about my experience ), then here is Cerberus Leader separately and all forms of Virgil , which go one after another at the end of the palace — this is already a real problem.

Classic

Unfortunately, you can’t comfortably train with the bosses in the void. But there is a way out. If we remove the banal replay of these bosses in the game ( because it takes a lot of time and is not always convenient ), then the bloody palace itself will be the way out — there is a tab Warming up . In it, you can separately go to any floor and fight with any boss ( or a set of enemies ) that you were able to reach. And this will also be a great opportunity to train exactly the floor on which you were defeated, so that you can go further to the next tri.

I would especially note the following marks — this is to reach Cerberus Leader and reach the first two forms Urizen , because. there is no convenient opportunity to pass them in the game (, for example, I fell off on the penultimate tray on the 98th floor, but nevertheless I was pleased, because I got the opportunity to conveniently train the previous bosses ). But floor 100 is in fact mission 17 , and floor 101 is mission 19 . You can train them without reaching the last floors.

All forms of Vergil and separately Cerberus I highly recommend to hone before you are going to go to the final trai, because to fail so close to the end is even a little insulting. Keep in mind before the 101st floor you will restore all HP, this makes it easier to defeat Vergil .

Total

This is how I got tired of going through the bloody palace for Dante for the first time. But I do not forget that the main idea for me was not even to learn how to play for Dante, but to start enjoying playing for him and not feel ashamed of my clumsiness. And I seem to have achieved this goal.

P.S. Another cool thing here is that there is always room to develop further, if there is a desire:

Each game has not the most obvious nuances. For those who are having a hard time with Devil May Cry 5 or, as it is called in a simple way, DMC 5, the passage will open tactics for dealing with enemies. In addition, it will indicate the place to search for secrets.

Walkthrough of story missions

There are 20 missions in the story company, each with its own unique difficulties.

01. Nero

The first mission begins with the destruction of demons and familiarity with Nero’s skills. The old sword and revolver remained, but the hand is now mechanical with many modes. This level was created for development in Devil May Territory 5 — the passage will not be difficult.

The level boss — Roots of Qliphoth will help you practice dodging.

02. Qliphoth

Boss Goliath. Dangerous shots with fireballs from the stomach. The best tactic is to stay behind and stay close. The trunk is a weak point.

Over time, the duel moves to the street. The enemy starts to ram. You have to dodge more often. In the dying state, Goliath attacks more actively.

Tip! Before jumping into any cliff, it is useful to inspect its surface from above — there may be hidden ledges with orbs.

03. Flying hunter

Lots of acrobatics. A demon with scissors is waiting in the library. Invulnerable while both parts of his weapon are intact.

The mission boss is Artemis, flying around the circular arena of the building. Initially out of reach. Then two movable hooks appear along with an opportunity for a counterattack.

04. V

V is a new playable character that is unusual for the Devil May Territory universe with its set of abilities. When attacking, he uses a vulture, a panther and a golem.

His first boss is Nidhogg. Strikes with a sword and spits acid from flowers. It’s not hard to dodge. Unlocked after taking damage to flowers.

05. Devil’s Sword Sparda

The fifth mission is closed by the High Knight on Geryon — attacks with a sword, uses lightning at a distance.

Avoiding damage becomes more difficult when teleportation and slow time traps are added to basic moves.

06.

Steel Strike

Level Challenge — Gilgamesh. Weakness — spinal growth. To get close to him, you need to hit his legs. Once on your back, deal maximum damage and jump off in time.

At half of the monster’s health, hitting the legs becomes useless. You will have to climb the buildings and cling to the tentacles.

07. United Front

It is possible to select a character for the level. You have to fight Proto and Scudo Angelo. The weak points of the knights are the back.

08. Demon Lord

Lots of travel through vessel elevators. The boss is Urizen. Combines the attacks of previous serious opponents: laser, hail from energy projectiles, fireballs.

Percentage of damage received is zero. You just need to hit the crystals.

09. Genesis

Behemoths, scissor demons and Nobody meet — a new monster that masks its current battle tactics.

10. Awakened

Dante is also in Devil may cry 5 — beating the game for him for the third time will transform the game. He owns four fighting styles for different purposes:

  • Shooter — ranged,
  • «Defender» — blocking,
  • «Trickster» — dodge,
  • «Swordsman» — melee attacks.

Boss: Urizen again.

11. Reason

Meeting with Cavaliere Angelo. Covered by wings, makes lunges with a sword. Don’t let go a long distance.

12. Yamato

Fight against Urizen. He will be able to deal damage in demonic form. To activate, you need to specifically skip a few hits.

13. Three warriors

Choose from three heroes, but the path through the level is the same for everyone — going down the platforms. The monster Lusechia will meet for the first time. Attacks from afar.

14. Crossroads: V

Level in three stages. In each, you will have to fight against the demonic form of one of V’s familiars.

Bosses: Artemis, Cavaliere Angelo, Goliath. Better to start by destroying the last one.

15.

Crossroads: Nero

Two directions: the upper road will require slowing down time with Ragtime on traps, the lower one will lead to many battles.

Tactics to deal with the level boss Malphas: Don’t let him get too far away.

16. Crossroads: Dante

Cerberus Leader is an old boss from the 3rd part of the game. The greatest damage goes through the muzzle of the beast.

Tip! It’s best not to waste Healing Orbs on boss fights until their moveset is learned.

17. Brothers

The weakness of the boss is the eyes on the body. Get in a jump. Try to keep full energy to attack after dodging kicks.

18. Awakening

You have to fight V’s pet demons throughout the level. At the end of three at the same time — the damage goes only to the Golem.

19. Vergil

It is more practical to start the battle with Vergil in the «Trickster» mode — it is easier to dodge and seize the opportunity to counterattack. At any opportunity to inflict damage, you need to turn into a demon.

20. True Strength

Combat tactics based on the use of demonic form and reaction.

There are no special tricks, you just need to act quickly, use the skills of the heroes in time.

The end of the game

The ending leads to the reconciliation of relatives. Dante and his brother decide to go to the dungeon to close the Gate. Nero continues to do what he is good at — killing demons.

Location of secret missions

The game is quite straightforward, that is: Devil may cry 5 does not require you to complete the walkthrough in Russian — this does not affect the gameplay. Unless — understanding the plot is difficult if the player hears unfamiliar voice acting.

What problems can happen in the game is with finding all the secret missions:

  1. Part of the tutorial is hard to miss.
  2. Under the «Exit» sign on level 3.
  3. 4th mission — you need to go to the graffiti with a skeleton, call on the Golem and use it to open an additional road. Then go down the alley and turn left at the fork. The secret level is at the top of the building.
  4. Break the wall above the containers inside the warehouse on mission 5.
  5. A grassy ledge to the right of the second bloody elevator in mission 8.
  6. Always turn left at the forks. Above the arch of the dead-end corridor on level 9.
  7. Hides on stage 10 behind the right demon door. The place of interest is the red dot.
  8. Destroy one root under the checkered floor of a huge building in 11 missions. The passage will open after the fall of the central tower.
  9. 12 mission — a ledge behind the back in the corridor located under the statue with the sword.
  10. At level 14, the game hides a secret to the left of the demonic roots blocking the slope.
  11. The path to the right of the blue orb, which is shown in the cutscene of mission 15.
  12. Stage 16 of the game — a passage at the bottom of a huge pit.

Features of the Bloody Palace mode

After completing the DMC 5 story campaign, the passage of the game itself does not end.
