Death Stranding

When is the Death Stranding PC release date? Everyone’s having a blast with it over in PlayStation land, but it’s not out on the ol’ personal computer just yet.

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Death Stranding. The game is Hideo Kojima’s first release since the Metal Gear Solid designer left Konami to create his studio in 2015. Boiled down, the game has you delivering cargo to isolated cities as a means to connect them. The Death Stranding review critical consensus has been largely positive since launch. Some find the repetition of terrain traversal to be quite serene, while others have found it frustrating.

So, if you’re stuck waiting for Death Stranding to come to PC, then read on for a nifty round-up of everything we know. We’ll go over an array of details from the Death Stranding release date and gameplay to story details and other details to do with the Death Stranding ending. To that end, here’s everything we know about Death Stranding on PC.

DEATH STRANDING PC RELEASE DATE

Not long to wait now, the Death Stranding PC release date is July 14, 2020, for both Steam and the Epic Store. The launch date was delayed by over a month, originally planned for June 2, 2020.

Death Stranding story

Not to give too much away, as Death Stranding has been out in the world since its launch on PS4 in November. Basically, you’ll find yourself in remains of post-apocalyptic America – where ruin has been brought about by a cataclysmic event known as Death Stranding.

You’ll find yourself in the walking boots of Sam Porter Bridges, a delivery man who stumbles across the remains of North American cities in a bid to connect them. There’s a supernatural element, too, as spectral apparitions called Beached Things – more commonly known as Death Stranding BTs – make your life more difficult. The BTs are connected to the Death Stranding.

The story itself is quite lengthy. How many episodes are in Death Stranding? It’s upwards of ten and you can expect it to take you around 40 hours – as that’s how long Death Stranding is.

Death Stranding gameplay

Traversal is what you’ll mainly focus on but there are challenges along the way. The weight of your backpack and how it’s distributed matters as it affects your balance. Walk around with an uneven backpack and you’ll be prone to falling over.

There’s also a good chance you’ll stumble across MULEs in Death Stranding, too – a cult of rogue, bandit-like porters who also like to deliver cargo. While that might make them sound like-minded to you, they also tend to steal other people’s cargo so they can deliver it themselves. How you deal with them is up to you as you can sneak past them, tie them up, or just charge in head-on and bludgeon them with an object.

As you connect more cities through the Chiral Network, you’ll gain access to maps of new areas. You’ll also get blueprints which allow you to produce consumable items and structures through your fancy 3D printer. With these items, you’ll be able to tackle tough terrain and get to unexplored areas. You don’t come into contact with other players directly, but you can come across their lost cargo and deliver it for them.

And there you have it, everything we know about Hideo Kojima’s latest game, from the Death Stranding PC release date to some of the finer game details. When is the Death Stranding 2 release date? We’re not too sure yet.

Death Stranding is coming to PC quite soon, releasing on June 2nd, 2020. It’s being published by 505 Games and will be available on both the Steam Store and Epic Games Store.

Death Stranding PC specs

We don’t yet know what tech specs Death Stranding PC will demand, but once we do, expect this section to be updated with the latest information on hardware requirements.

For a potential frame of reference, recall the stellar PC port of Hideo Kojima’s last game, Metal Gear Solid V. It had a very, very small download size relative to the size of the game itself, and its hardware requirements were low enough that it could run respectably on non gaming rigs. Mind you, that game was published by Konami, so who knows if those same PC port standards will be upheld by Kojima Productions and 505 Games for Death Stranding’s PC release.

Know that the PC port will support ultra-wide monitors, have a photo mode, and support a «high frame rate,» (whatever that means), according to the game’s official Steam page. Perhaps that’s referring to uncapped frame rates. So know that if you have a powerful gaming PC, you’ll be able to put it to good use.

Death Stranding PC trailer

The trailer for Death Stranding PC is short, sweet, and simple, clocking in at just 32 seconds. It highlights the «high frame rate,» ultra-wide monitor support, and photo mode of the PC port, while also showcasing a fun PC exclusive: Valve items!

Death Stranding’s main character, Sam, can be seen wearing one of the headcrabs from Half-Life at the end of the trailer. And at the beginning of the trailer, you can spot Sam with a valve on his head—the same red valve that’s used as Valve’s company logo.

Death Stranding game overview

If you’re not exactly sure what Death Stranding is, know that most of the people who’ve played it don’t know, either. It’s a mail delivery simulator as well as a spooky ghost dodging adventure. It’s also a parenting tutorial where you comfort a baby floating in a yellow canister taped to your chest.

Since it’s a Hideo Kojima game, if you’re even the slightest bit intrigued, it’s better if you go in blind and avoid spoilers. However, if you don’t want to potentially waste money on a risky piece of interactive art and would prefer an in-depth, critical perspective of Kojima’s latest multi-million-dollar experiment, check out this Dunkey video.

Death Stranding PC or PS4?

Naturally, the technologically «superior» experience would be to play Death Stranding on PC. However, consider that the game is going to cost a full $60 at launch on PC, whereas it’s already been out for ages on PS4 and has seen 50% discounts.

By the time Death Stranding PC launches in June, odds are we’ll see the PS4 version’s price drop even lower. So if you have a choice of platform, it might behoove you to save a good chunk of change and get the PS4 version, since it’ll be fundamentally the same experience.

Game Computer for Death Stranding — System Requirements and Description

  • Computer for Death Stranding

Category: Gaming computers

System requirements

Improved AI rendering technology significantly improves the image, and it makes no sense to refuse it, so for Death Stranding, the computer requirement can be called an NVIDIA GeForce RTX card at least a basic level.

PS4 games are not very demanding on the processor and RAM, when they are created, clear frames are laid that correspond to the performance of this console.

Minimum

At these settings, you won’t be able to see all the goodies that the designers and artists wanted to fill this game with. In tests, the GTX 1050 averages 43 frames at FullHD resolution, so comfortable gameplay will only be at the minimum graphics settings and with HD resolution.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3470;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 3GB;
  • Disk space: 80 GB.

Recommended 30FPS/1080p

It is unknown why the developers posted the requirement for 30 FPS. If at the distant beginning of the 2000s this was normal, then it certainly seems savagery to a modern gamer. Especially since the game is in the action genre, it will be incredibly difficult to react to different events around with such a screen refresh rate. Also note that the average value is indicated, that is, in real life it will drop to 20-25 frames, it’s completely sad.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB;
  • Disk space: 80 GB.

Recommended 60FPS/1080p

The developers promise that such a computer for Death Stranding will produce 60 frames at maximum (without DLSS 2.0) in FullHD resolution. The requirements are clearly lowered and written too close to the ceiling, in some scenes or game situations at maximum settings you will encounter drawdowns of up to 40-50 frames.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB;
  • Disk space: 80 GB.

Optimal

With such computer characteristics, you can play Death Stranding quite comfortably in FullHD at maximum speed with DLSS 2.0. You’ll get around 150 FPS, and with the right monitor, you’re guaranteed a smooth, photorealistic picture.

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400F;
  • RAM: 16 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER;
  • Disk space: 80 GB.

Ultra

The ideal computer for Death Stranding can be called a machine that will run this masterpiece in 2K with 130 FPS and graphics settings «ultra».

  • OS: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700;
  • RAM: 16 GB;
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER;
  • Disk space: 80 GB SSD m.
