Wired

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is a good wired gaming mouse. It feels very sturdy and has three side buttons, including a sniper button which, by default, shifts to a lower CPI setting for more precise cursor movements as long as it’s held. Performance-wise, it has a low click latency, a wide CPI range, a CPI you can precisely adjust by increments of one, and a very low lift-off distance. Its shape is well-suited for all grip types, though it’s likely too short for extra-large hands using a palm or claw grip and too large to control comfortably with small hands using a fingertip grip. Unfortunately, it’s still heavy, even after removing all tunable weights.

Our Verdict

7.5

Office/Multimedia

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is good for office and multimedia use. It has an impressive number of buttons, all of which you can program with the companion software compatible with Windows and macOS. It also has a comfortable shape well-suited for all grip types and most hand sizes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have any wireless connection options, and the scroll wheel lacks L/R tilt buttons and doesn’t unlock for free scrolling.

Pros

  • Feels very well-built.

  • Impressive number of buttons; all buttons are programmable.

  • Comfortable shape with thumb rest and textured, grippy sides.

7.7

Video Games (FPS)

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is a good FPS gaming mouse. It feels very sturdy, has low click latency, a CPI that’s precisely adjustable by increments of one, and a very low lift-off distance. It also has a sniper button that shifts to a lower CPI as long as you hold it. Its shape is well-suited for all grip types; however, extra-large hands might find the mouse too short using a palm or claw grip, while small hands may have trouble controlling the mouse using a fingertip grip. Unfortunately, it’s also quite heavy, and its cable isn’t very flexible.

Pros

  • Feels very well-built.

  • Great click latency.

  • Comfortable shape with thumb rest and textured, grippy sides.

8.3

Video Games (MMO)

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is great for MMO gaming, though it doesn’t have nearly as many buttons as a dedicated MMO mouse. Nevertheless, it feels very well-built, it has low click latency, and you can program all of the buttons it does have with the companion software compatible with Windows and macOS. It also has a wide CPI range, a CPI you can adjust by increments of one, and a very low lift-off distance. It’s well-suited for all grip types and nearly all hand sizes.

Pros

  • Feels very well-built.

  • Great click latency.

  • Comfortable shape with thumb rest and textured, grippy sides.

  • Software for customization is compatible with Windows and macOS.

6.0

Ultra-Light Gaming

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is mediocre for ultra-light gaming. It’s significantly heavier than dedicated ultra-light gaming mice, its cable isn’t very flexible, and its mouse feet are only decent. Despite this, it feels very well-built, has good click latency, and has a comfortable shape suitable for all grip types and nearly all hand sizes.

Pros

  • Feels very well-built.

  • Great click latency.

5.4

Travel

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is inadequate for travel use as it’s bulky and may not fit in most laptop cases. It’s also a wired-only mouse with no wireless connection options, making it cumbersome to use in tight spaces like trains or planes. Despite this, it feels very sturdy and has onboard memory for carrying over settings to computers without the software installed.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB we tested is black, but there’s also a white color variant. The similar Corsair M65 RGB Elite is an upgraded version of this mouse with a new sensor, an additional RGB zone in the mouse wheel, and a wider side button placement.

Compared To Other Mice

The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is a predecessor of the Corsair M65 RGB Elite. Both mice feel very sturdy, have excellent sensors, and have multiple options for changing your CPI on the fly. You can also adjust CPI settings precisely by increments of one, which is rare for most gaming mice. While the M65 Elite version improves many aspects of this mouse, you may still want to consider the original if you prefer a very low lift-off distance and a wider-spaced side button cluster.

The Razer is significantly lighter, has a more flexible cable, smoother gliding mouse feet, and you can use it wired or wirelessly with its USB receiver. Corsair M65 PRO RGB Review

The Corsair M65 RGB is a huge hit among esports fans. However, the laser sensor may not be suitable for everyone. To solve this issue, the manufacturer has launched an updated version on the market, in which an optical sensor is installed. The review of the Corsair M65 PRO RGB is necessary in order to understand how this model differs from the previous one, and what features it has.

Specifications

  • type — gaming mouse;
  • connection — wired, the cable is protected by a nylon braid;
  • interface — USB;
  • sensor — optical Pixart PMW3366;
  • resolution — from 100 to 12,000 DPI, five steps of adjustment;
  • maximum reading speed — up to 250 inches per second;
  • switches — Omron mechanical switches, with a resource of 20 million clicks;
  • materials — aluminium, plastic;
  • weight adjustment — yes; nine0008
  • color — black and white;
  • backlight — yes, up to 16.8 million shades;
  • weight — 135 g with weights;
  • software support — yes.

Packaging and contents

Almost all products from Corsair are distinguished by colorful packaging, and this model is no exception. A bright box gives a complete picture of not only how the rodent looks, but also what features it has, including technical ones. Having removed the top cover, you can see a transparent plastic case in which the mouse is stored. But the equipment let us down a little, as for such a prestigious manipulator. In addition to the mouse itself, the kit includes:

  • instruction manual;
  • warranty card.

Everything!

Look and feel

The M65 PRO is a classic example of what a modern gaming mouse should be. The design gives off a futuristic look, which is achieved through the use of modular side and top elements. It seems that the aggressive body of the model is made of different plates. There is also a slight openness of the structure.

The bottom panel and part of the rodent frame are made of high-strength aluminium. By and large, the back of this model is missing — instead there is ribbed metal, which only complements the positive impressions of the design. The surface is made of matte plastic coated with soft-touch. Unfortunately, it collects fingerprints and dust — a long-standing problem for all manipulators. Side edges made of rough plastic are very comfortable and do not allow the mouse to slide in your hand.

The design makes it not suitable for a classic palm grip. Here, a claw or finger grip will be more relevant. In total, there are eight buttons on the case

Lighting

The mouse has three independent lighting zones. They are located in such a way that their glow gives the impression that you have a mini car in front of you, and not a computer rodent. The logo on the rear panel shines directly onto the rug or other surface, because, as mentioned above, the mouse simply does not have a back part from below. The LEDs located around the wheel are directed in such a way that most of the light from them does not go to the scroll, but breaks out through the front. It turns out something like the headlights of a car. And finally, the third backlight zone — it is located on the DPI resolution switch. nine0003

Proprietary software

M65 PRO RGB is fully compatible with proprietary software from the manufacturer. There is no CD with the software in the kit — it will need to be downloaded from the official website. It’s free.

The utility itself is more complicated than, for example, SteelSeries, but it also has its advantages. Here you will see four main sections, each of which contains many useful features:

  • Profiles.
  • Actions. nine0008
  • Backlight.
  • Settings.

With this software, you can significantly expand the functionality.

Use

Considering the unusual shape, the rodent will take some getting used to. This does not mean that the mouse is uncomfortable in itself, but it will not fit into the hand like a glove. We’ll have to figure out how best to hold it in the brush in order to have access to all the buttons. Despite the fact that the sliding of the manipulator is at a very good level, it is still heavy, and therefore the weight adjustment system can be very helpful. nine0003

Conclusion

The review left a mixed impression. On the one hand, this is a very stylish and multifunctional gaming mouse, made using durable aluminum, high-quality backlighting and a powerful optical sensor. On the other hand, complex software, which can be quite difficult to understand, as well as a high price.
