Weekly Report #153 – The true story of the fractal world
Last week we explained what chernobylite is (it turned out to be much more than a fancy name for the game). Furthermore we elaborated about the chemical effects of the explosion of the Chernobyl power plant. In today’s report, we don’t deviate so much from the topic of chernobylite crystals, because we used them to build something important for the whole game.

Weekly Report #152 – Elephant foot
Today we would like to do something that we should have done from the beginning: answer the question: what is chernobylite? Sure, in interviews or somewhere in our previous materials, you could read that it is a substance that exists in reality and was created as a result of the explosion of the Chernobyl power plant. Now it’s worth expanding on this idea a bit and… telling you about something else.

Weekly Report #151 – Your base, your home
The base in Chernobylite is a special place. You can rest there after a hard mission, talk to your companions, and replenish your equipment. And most importantly, you can decorate it as you like. From your screenshots, we can see that you don’t just place beds, crafting tables and plants inside. The furniture layouts in your bases go from extreme to extreme: from well-crafted apartments to massive mushroom farms. It’s obvious that you enjoy it.

With the launch of Chernobylite’s Season 3, you received a surprise from us in the form of a new weapon — the legendary Soviet-made pistol — Makarov. It looks inconspicuous, but with some modifications it can become a deadly piece of equipment. And we wouldn’t be ourselves if we didn’t add some magic to it 😉

In case someone was disappointed by the lack of freedom in The Medium, let it be known that Chernobylite brings much more leeway in terms of gameplay, while offering equally pretty graphics and dark atmosphere. Until the second S.T.A.L.K.E.R. arrives, there is no better game for visiting Chernobyl.

Bizarre but beautiful indeed, Chernobylite is an amalgamation of various genres in one captivating game that you wouldn’t think could pull it off as well as it does. Its missions offer much of the same over the time and its combat could use some work, but its world gives you enough diverse events, objectives, and live challenges that keep you thinking ahead. Plus, add to that its 3D scanned world of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and you get an ambitious game that blends fiction with reality and offers you an experience unlike any other.

Chernobylite is a great survival game with a solid sci-fi story that is definitely above what we’re used to find in similar games, although it also falls shorts in some aspects by trying to do more than it should.

With a combination of multiple features and mechanics from different genres, as well as a setting that’s steeped in mystery, Chernobylite attempts to be the jack-of-all-trades. Unfortunately, a mediocre combat system, repetitive mission structure, and dull gameplay loop lead to questionable results.

Chernobylite is not gonna make up for the lack of the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in your life, but even so it’s a good enough title to dive into before the release of the next GSC Game World project.

Despite the flaws, something about Chernobylite feels like it’s primed to enjoy cult classic status. Troubled but daring games are often the subject of smaller but passionate fanbases, and Chernobylite is nothing is not daring. Several of those gambles don’t payout in the end, but the journey is always a weird one, even if not always an exciting one.

I was pleasantly surprised, but I had a pretty low expectation coming into it. Not scary at all, unless you count some jump-scares once every 5 missions scary.
The VA was hit or miss, the side-characters had much more charm than the main one did, with that british accent. Better than the russian voice tho, where I literally had to look at the pictures, it felt like one dude was doing 3 voices at the start.
One dude said normal is way too easy at some point, and I agree. While at the start I was still bothering with stealth, mid-game and towards the end i was just casually murdering everything, poppin a vodka and whistling to the objective.
The ending was only half-predictable, so props for that! But the «bad» ending was really underwhelming.
Base building, again like with the difficulty, was charming only at the beginning. Around the 4th side-kick i’d already built pretty much everything and was stockpiling ammo and gas, was srsly building closets for revolver ammo…. Balance that out a bit my guys.
Overall I enjoyed it, and I’d recommend it, but not as a Stalker or Metro replacement. Considering it’s a small-ish studio with no srs gaming cred, it was a good game.… Expand

Good graphics. Horrible mechanics. Good sound. Horrible game. Uninstalled after the first lightening strike gave me a gun and the second one landed me in Pripyat to be presented with a horrible intro on how to use the gun and avoid being hit.

Games about Chernobyl on PC
A list of games about Chernobyl, which, in addition to the obvious Stalker series, includes other good shooters (online and single player) that allow you to run with a gun at the ready through the Exclusion Zone, look into the ghost town of Pripyat and even get close to the Chernobyl.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
A series of 3 shooters with horror elements that allow you to freely explore the huge Zone, which is an alternative, darker and more dangerous version of the real Exclusion Zone. nine0003
A variety of people with a variety of goals walk around the local Zone, who often unite into groups and even entire factions, waging fierce wars among themselves. Bandits and marauders, military stalkers and mercenaries, fanatics from Monolith and anarchists from Svoboda — you never know what these guys have in mind and what a meeting with them will bring. In addition, the Zone is full of dangerous anomalies, many of which cannot be seen with the naked eye, and there are plenty of mutants of various kinds here. nine0003
Other than the original three games (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat) for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. an impressive number of different custom modifications are available, which can be downloaded completely free of charge. Also, the GSC Game World studio in May 2018 announced that Stalker 2 was under development, but more about it below. As for mods for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you can get acquainted with the best of them in our special article «The best mods for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.». nine0003
Shadow of ChernobylClear SkyCall of Pripyat
Chernobylite
Atmospheric horror shooter about Chernobyl from the Polish studio The Farm 51, in which the player, as a stalker looking for a comrade who disappeared decades ago, explores a huge gloomy world, recreated in detail with the help of 3D scanning of the real exclusion zone.
A non-linear story filled with unexpected twists and interesting characters, each with their own goals. To get into the heart of the mysterious Chernobyl, users will have to extract resources, create ingenious devices, fight and confront the horrors lurking in their path. nine0003

CHERNOBYL: The Untold Story
We are returning to 1986, on the streets of a town whose inhabitants do not yet know what awaits them. Or already know? CHERNOBYL: The Untold Story tells a story that is like a delusional dream of a person infected with radiation. Whether this is true or fiction is up to you to find out.
This is an isometric game, the gameplay of which combines elements of adventure and old school shooting ranges. You are invited to carefully study the city, trying to uncover its secrets, communicate with people, and also participate in skirmishes against mutants who have lost their human appearance. The game also boasts a great atmosphere, which is the main component for projects about Chernobyl. nine0003

Escape from Chernobyl
Escape from Chernobyl is a point-and-click quest with original cartoon graphics that invites you to get used to the role of a scientist in a secret laboratory. Fate has developed in such a way that his place of work is based in the depths of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and he will have to escape from this place at that very moment, and at the same time find the culprit of the disaster.
The emphasis in Escape from Chernobyl is on the plot — firstly, it is non-linear and depends on the player’s actions, and secondly, based on the previous feature, there are 3 endings. At the same time, the puzzles are not easy and will make you break your head. And although the game itself is short, it is difficult to break away from it. nine0003

Chernobyl: Road of Death
Top-down shooter Chernobyl: Road of Death is reminiscent of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. — as planned, the player finds himself on the territory of Chernobyl after the disaster, and he has to fight the military, mutants and radiation. The global goal is to prevent a new catastrophe, but this will be very difficult to achieve.
The action in the game is solid, but much more interesting are the elements of survival, well-integrated into the gameplay. So, the gamer is forced to constantly fight with radiation and acid rain. And he also needs to look for food, and at night hide from monsters in a tent. All in all, this is another great Chernobyl game worth checking out. nine0003

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The first installment in Modern Warfare’s outstanding sub-series of military shooters, featuring a 15-minute mission in Pripyat inspired by the memories of Captain Price, one of the game’s key characters.
It should be noted that the mission turned out to be one of the most exciting and memorable in Modern Warfare: general devastation, numerous enemies everywhere, two SAS operatives armed with sniper rifles are trying to get behind their lines. Crawling through the tall grass, they aim to reach one of Pripyat’s abandoned high-rise buildings in order to gain a vantage point and eliminate one of the key terrorist leaders. nine0003

Chernobyl VR Project
An interesting project for virtual reality devices called Chernobyl VR Project. This is not quite a game, but rather an interactive virtual tour that allows you to wander around certain places of Pripyat (so far 3 locations are available: a school, a hut and an apartment building) and view documentary 360° videos and photos. All this with comments from the creators, as well as audio recordings of the stories of people who once lived here.
Since the Chernobyl VR Project is in early access at the time of this writing, there is reason to believe that in the future its scale and capabilities will increase significantly, and we will get a truly original and interesting project about Pripyat. nine0003

Left 4 Dead 2: «Chernobyl: Chapter One» (DLC)
Chernobyl: Chapter One is a DLC for the zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2. Writing about add-ons is a bit unfair to other games that have similar modifications, but we decided to highlight this one, because it was created by fans for 9 (!) years.
DLC is a full-fledged campaign — players will go to quite atmospheric and recognizable locations of Chernobyl. They, like other companies, have to escape from this place, but the hordes of zombies and mutants, of course, will not allow this to be done so easily. The campaign can be downloaded for free from the Steam Workshop. nine0003

Spintires — Chernobyl
One of the additions to the Spintires off-road game is completely dedicated to Chernobyl. According to the plot, a few years after the tragedy, stalkers found trucks on the territory of the zone that were entering the territory, allegedly on a mission to save trees.
Players will get two new modes of transport equipped with Geiger counters to avoid areas of high radiation on the way to the logging sites. Ominous locations are recreated with the detail inherent in the series: players will be able to look at the nuclear power plant and Pripyat, visit the Red Forest and the test site. nine0003
The game has been withdrawn from sale in official digital services
Fear the Wolves
Another PC game entirely dedicated to the Chernobyl Zone. Fear the Wolves — «Royal battle», which takes place in the Chernobyl zone with a total area of 25 km². Players, divided into pairs or alone, fight each other, as well as mutants, collect equipment and weapons, while trying not to fall into one of the local anomalies. As you can see, in many ways, Fear the Wolves can be considered the ideological heir to Stalker, refocused on online. nine0003

S.W.A.N.
Syndrome Without A Name is a pseudo-documentary sci-fi horror film set in Chernobyl months after the terrible disaster. The focus is on a secret institute where scientists once conducted research on a number of unexplained phenomena.
Players who dare to set foot on the threshold of the complex are destined to encounter ominous anomalies that have flooded the research facility uncontrollably. Within the walls of the S.W.A.N. many secrets are hidden, but is it possible to reveal them all without losing your mind? The release of the game is scheduled for spring 2021. nine0003

Without any details or additional explanations, Grigorovich posted a corresponding message on his Facebook page — and since then the details, though rare, have appeared. You can follow this movement with us in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 material — everything that is known about the game. nine0003

CHERNOBYL LIQUIDATORS SIMULATOR
In the new game from the Polish studio Live Motion Games, which has almost a dozen different simulators behind it, visitors to Chernobyl will not have to fight mutants for swag. Players here will be offered to try themselves in the role of one of the liquidators who dealt with the aftermath of a nuclear disaster and helped with the evacuation of the population.
The developers promise a difficult storyline with the ability to choose and reap the consequences, rich in location details, the ability to play as different characters and many dangerous situations in which you have to act for sure. nine0003

Frequency: Chernobyl
A story-driven adventure that takes the protagonist, who studies «ghostly» radio waves, into the Exclusion Zone. There he will suddenly receive a signal from the past — distant 1986 years old, and will take up the investigation, which determines whether he can leave the Zone or stay there forever.
Developers promise challenging puzzles, unusual gameplay and the opportunity to learn a lot about how radio equipment works. There will be no battles in the game, but players will find an atmospheric adventure with an exciting story.

A selection of games about Chernobyl / Computer and mobile games / iXBT Live
On Saturday, April 26, 1986, an explosion occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. As a result of the accident, radioactive substances were released into the environment. This event is really terrible, but it inspired people to write many books, create games and films. Therefore, today I want to provide a selection of the best games about Chernobyl.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (game series)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is one of the most famous games made by Ukrainian developers based on the novel Roadside Picnic. The actions of the games take place on the territory of Ukraine, in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Experimental laboratories were set up there, where scientists could experiment with psychic abilities. Their experiments caused even more damage to the Zone: dangerous entities and fauna mutations appeared. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The zone is inhabited not only by lone stalkers, but also by different factions. The protagonist of each game has his own goal, which is different from the goals of different factions. Typically, the end result of each game is to reach the center of the Zone. nine0003
Most of the locations were recreated from real shots of the city of Pripyat. The plot of the games will intrigue with unexpected twists and throw up new adventures.
Chernobyl: Exclusion Zone
Chernobyl: Exclusion Zone is an action shooter released in 2011. The storyline tells about a terrorist group that stole a nuclear weapon, seized a reactor and demands a ransom from the world community. Now terrorists threaten the whole world with its use. nine0003
The main character, a special forces soldier, has to save the Earth. To do this, he has access to a large arsenal of weapons. In Chernobyl: Exclusion Zone there are eleven authentically recreated large locations of the city of Pripyat and its environs. The game allows you to apply different strategies and tactics of passing.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a first-person shooter that was released on November 4, 2016. This game has a stealth mission in Chernobyl. The main character, John Price, along with his mentor, must infiltrate a terrorist organization in the city of Pripyat. Initially, the player will have to go through the field on which the convoy will go, pass the cemetery and go around the whole city. At the end of the level, the characters climb onto the roof of the Polissya hotel to take up sniper positions. During this, the screen dims, and as a result, the player is immediately at the top. Then, you need to escape from the building, avoid pursuit and fight right under the Ferris wheel. nine0003
Chernobylite
Chernobylite is a horror game with fantasy elements. The main character, a physicist who previously worked at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, must return to the exclusion zone in order to find his beloved. The player will have to survive and uncover the intricate secrets of Chernobyl, collect resources to create their own weapons and equipment.
Almost all single-player gameplay revolves around exploring the exclusion zone. The game map was created based on 3D scanning of the real Chernobyl. Also, support for FidelityFX and DirectX 12 has been added to Chernobylite to improve graphics. nine0003
Radiation City
This mobile game was developed by Atypical Games. The main character needs to explore Pripyat and learn all the secrets in order to save his beloved. Also, the player can look for resources in the Palace of Culture, Polesie Hotel, swimming pool, Prometheus cinema, etc. To survive the night, the main character needs to find sheltered parking lots, choose and create weapons, equipment, kill hungry predators and humanoid mutants.
