Chapter 1997 | The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound

Randidly nodded, steadily considering the information Don Beagon had provided. A massive drill loomed in the sky above them both, a heavy reminder of just how long the journey could be. He hesitated to ask for more, but wanted to keep some debt for any other developments in the future.

“For the record,” Don cleared his throat. “All this information is second-hand. I didn’t delve very deeply into the drill. Some of the people holed up there are quite…peculiar. They are reluctant to make deals.

Randy snorted. But then he gave the Don an indifferent look. That extra tidbit didn’t cost him any debt, but it wasn’t a good idea to let him just volunteer to do something. «I thought we had an understanding of how this discussion would develop. »

The old man looked offended but kept his mouth shut. Accidentally bit his lip; the don definitely wanted something special, but his feelings told him that Claudette’s father was not trying to harm him. There was something deeper in the game.

Randomly tightened his lips. He didn’t have all the pieces he needed to move, but he didn’t want to linger if the don was playing some long game with his carefully chosen responses. He still hasn’t forgotten when Don tried to sell him to the Void King. When Randidly stood up, the Don cocked his head to one side. “Ahem, I admit I’m speaking out of turn again, but I… well, consider it a freebie. May I give you advice?»

Randomly thought about it. He almost said no, but then he wondered if the don wanted him to say no to fall into some kind of trap. Also, he said it would be free. Inwardly, he shook his head at his own paranoia. God, I just prefer to fight. Out loud, he said, «Yes.»

Don Beygon smiled. “If you really intend to ascend through the teachings, do not define your word until you have completed your journey. It’s almost amazing that no one thought to wait before you, but perhaps other citizens have just been told about the power they can gain when their ideas are freely circulated through the Nexus. No one waited more than a few minutes.»

«Why wait for the definition of a word?» Randomly frowned.

Don Beygon licked his lips. “That would be short-sighted, but what if you created a half-baked image about the murder of one particular person and used it as your word? After all, if you were seriously threatened, you might be, too. And suddenly, these cautious, timid, conservative old people will have a glaring weakness that their peers will look at. Think about it.»

According to Don, his debt did not decrease at all, although there were many advantages in this offer. He accidentally pursed his lips, but he couldn’t deny how interesting the idea was. This made him realize that he wasn’t the only one making a living by subverting the rules of the System. Nodding to Don, he left the room and closed the door behind him.

Almost immediately, a ghostly figure crowded in front of Randidly. His features were hidden in shadows, but his limbs were long and dexterous. His eyes looked modestly at the ground. «Mr. Ghost hound, let me show you the territory.

«That’s not necessary.» Randidly looked at the figure coolly as he pulled out his alchemist’s passport and pulled the key through the air. Obviously, the image and strength of the other was severely suppressed, but this was the same person who had previously shown an undisguised thirst for blood. His gaze was focused on the top of the man’s head. With the added benefit of Tier III citizenship, he could catch a glimpse of some of his power.

Stronger than the current Charlotte Vic. Accidentally understood. Definitely more restrained in emotional affect, despite the earlier manifestation. Perhaps it was even purposeful to test me. And I don’t believe for a second that this is Don Beygon’s most powerful subordinate.

The head of the key parted a carefully restricted area, opening up an escape route. Randomly stepped and darted through the gaps in the defenses of Beigon Manor. In a moment, he crossed the folded space and returned to his root, who lived at the Fifth Cohort assembly station.

He looked at the ground for a while, thinking about what he had learned about the drill from Don Beygon. At least he had a destination in mind and understood some of the major dangers. Unfortunately, he could not confirm any of the man’s claims, but he suspected that the debt would be revealed if the don were to lie. The only person Randidly could think of to check the facts was Devic, but…

Randomly winced. The fact that she now calls her Actus Suprem and our recent interactions means it’s probably not worth the risk. For now, it’s good news that at least it’s possible to move to the location indicated by the Feather Patron. With two notable difficulties: bypassing the Elkhum observation at mid-levels. And then, of course, some old Nexus monster is probably claiming the floor in question. ..

But it makes me wonder where exactly this thin connection will lead? How does this relate to this terrifying bone spell? What exactly strikes the Patron of Feathers?

Randy groaned and rubbed the bridge of his nose as his mind wandered for several minutes without finding any answers to these questions. As usual, getting more information about the Nexus just meant he could ask better questions and STILL couldn’t get satisfactory answers. He would need to start moving soon, given Patron Feather’s failing health, not quite realizing what he was getting himself into.

He had more ability than ever before. However, the long shadows of threats in the Nexus continued to haunt him.

However, there were a few things Randidly could do to prepare. He could keep progressing, he could train, he could learn.

The Completion of the Path reward for Achieving the Mille Path still flickered in front of him. He concentrated and called up the status screen. He looked over his list of statistics. Bizarre Metabolism (Un), Illusory Egg Feather (L), Primal Void Amulet (M), Terrible Zeal (A), Grim Intuition (L), Predictive Synapses (A), Chimerical Indifference (R), Gray Monarch Presence (T) , Intelligence, Unnatural Abilities (Ru), Loyalty of ascending Moirs (P) and Refined Piety (M).

One of these things is unlike the others~, Randidly mumbled under his breath, demanding a reward. A strange shudder went through his body as his finger pressed the button.

Congratulations! You have chosen your Stat Intelligence for development. Detecting synchronicity with other parameters… looking for resonance… calculating final rarity…

Warning! You have chosen the last characteristic for development! A comprehensive shift will happen to you when all the characteristics turn into new rarities! Due to the importance of this event, Rarity’s range has increased! Incorporating other aspects of your emotions and worth into the process…

Defining associations… removing extraneous notes…

Congratulations! Your Static Intelligence has evolved to Transcendent Rarity! Extrapolation… Your Static Intelligence turned into Aberrant Alchemist Cognition (T)! The level will be maintained.

Aberrant Alchemist Cognition (T): Achieving the impossible requires a certain quirk of perspective and approach. If a person has too much confidence in the truth, the miracle lies far beyond the realm of possibility. However, if the unusual is allowed to distort reality, there is an opportunity. An aberrant alchemist possesses an incredibly powerful mind, capable of instantly analyzing and reconstructing the world around him. The ability to collect information and recognize patterns has increased significantly. The frequency and accuracy of intuition has increased significantly. The ability to brainstorm alternative ideas has increased slightly. Thoughts now have little momentum; the more they gain momentum, the more they can change the world. Please note that this alteration is not always profitable!

Randy seemed to feel a shiver in the air around him, an echo of his own shiver a few seconds ago. As he stiffened in a moment of tense tension, his instincts took over. As he sucked in air through his nose, so much information filled his mind about the asteroid around him and the people on it. It was as if a curtain had been pulled back, leaving the surrounding space completely within his grasp. His memory returned to those hidden orbs left by the Void King. It was under this impression that he began to deconstruct the method0003

His mind was spinning faster and faster…

Ba-dump. Ba-DAMP.

He was thrown out of these spiraling thoughts by the force of his own heartbeat. For a second Randidly just blinked. He brought his hand to his chest. He looked down in surprise; he suddenly became wet and sweaty and scalding hot.

And keep warming with every heartbeat.

Steam billowed from him in waves, making the inner sanctuary gloomy and uncertain. He took another breath, but his heartbeat caused his Void Core to overload, the energy pulsing through the barrier of his skin. Randidly felt a strange panic as his sensations intensified, driven by his heart to speed up. His chest began to hurt. It was as if his physical form had dissolved, becoming part of the heat, steam, and thundering beats of his heart…

BA-DAMP.

Congratulations! All of your stats have become more rare! During your journey to the Summit, the original fabric of who you were was irrevocably altered. You have ascended to become a completely different being, with powers beyond your wildest imagination.

However, the statistic functions mainly as an anchor, keeping your current height within the parameters extrapolated from your original form. Now that all of these bindings have been changed, you are no longer bound to these limiting parameters. Thanks to your efforts, new touchstones have been obtained. These new combinations of characteristics will create a new starting point for your existence.

I feel … so full. Randy almost unconsciously fell into a strange trance. He burned from the emotions that went through him. He felt that he could feel the passions of every single member of the Alpha Cosmos, and the combined flow of all these desires was destroying his sense of presence.

This feeling reminded him of using the Form of Possession, but he had no main goal — to direct all the strength and power to the target. Aimlessly drifting, Randidly watched the changes taking place in his body. He looked down at his chest, which was strangely flushed. He felt no fear as the flames licked up and down his skin, and felt no pain. Smoke and flame danced in perfect harmony across his body, light and heat waltzing across every inch of his body.

The heartbeat resounded in his body or in the amorphous mass of energy that became his body. His drive to speed up only intensified. Randidly was remotely aware of another consciousness, his clouded mind calling Nevea’s name to the invasion, out of concern for his health. Obviously, he absorbed a huge amount of energy. Energy by a completely different amount than he usually consumed.

Randidly could almost hear her warnings if he’d listened.

He surprised himself by choosing to listen to the all-consuming heartbeat.

«Full» was the correct word for how he felt. At least it was a simple sensation that was eating away at him now.

BADAMP!

Warning! Seek help from your Village Spirit. It is unwise to continue without the explicit support of your Village Spirit! Please-

Error-

Recalculation…

In the distance, Randidly heard a scream in his ear. He sniffed the air and smelled the ash. «Damn bastard! Are you trying to kill me?!? I was on vacation!»

Congratulations! Others have reached this threshold but have not been able to survive the transition! By letting go of your old anchors, you have opened up new possibilities. Your new anchors generate a new, unique Attribute that you and only you will possess.

There are an infinite number of possible failures and a finite number of successful anchor placements. Such a balance is deceptively fragile. Proceed with caution.

Combining influences…

Images flashed before Randidly’s eyes. His characteristics became anchors, olfactory impressions that at least kept him conscious. From a distance, he reflected that the heat was becoming unbearable even for his strange energy form.

He saw his own blood, red blood cells flowing through thick veins, revitalizing his limbs. He saw an egg of darkness surrounded by ghostly feathers that surrounded and protected him. He saw an ancient tribal totem, a creature covered in tattoos, with a sleek and powerful body and so, so purposeful. He saw the killer jerking from stillness to bloody execution faster than the eye could follow. He saw a hungry chimera curled up in a dark place, opening its eye just as prey roamed by. He saw little sparks running up and down his spine, a body moving in anticipation of reality. He saw another chimera, one that withstood the harsh elements and moved forward without slowing down.

All the moisture evaporated from his mold by the heat. This meant that there was nothing left to stop the flames from bursting out and filling the entire space.

BADUMP-BADUMP-BADUMP!

Anchor images swirled around him, his thoughts racing through them. He saw a massive pearl throne on which sat a gray creature with long arms and longer fingers. He saw the alchemist staying up late at night at his desk, his eyes shining with the possibilities hidden in his next idea. He saw a figure flipping through the grimoire, memorizing the contents with just a glance. He saw a slender being clinging to the threads of fate, weighing and measuring their value. He saw a man in a white coat bowing his head in front of an incandescent lamp.

Randidly’s chest, or some remnant of his physical form, cracked and collapsed under the pressure of his heartbeat. Blood spurted forward, mixing with ash and bones and flames, but gravity seemed to have forgotten about the scarlet and emerald blood before it fell to the ground. The liquid split into two perfect snakes, red and green. They began to swim through the muddy stew that Randidly Ghosthound had become, strengthening one thing and weakening the other. The heat pulsed and wavered, held back by these arrivals.

Accidentally tried to inhale but failed. So he stopped it. He just burned out, completely and without hesitation.

Error… dissonance detected… recalculation…

BADUPBADUMPBADUPBADUP-

Attempt to correct-

The woman groaned in his ears. He saw her hands ending in metal gauntlets, desperately trying to keep his essence from seeping between her fingers as the anchors were prepared. But even during the burning, he felt that something was wrong. His existence, with all his new characteristics, was the key to the castle. But when they tried to turn around, something caught. The door in front of him remained closed.

Randidly… Nevea’s voice reached him as he burned. He was full of prayer. The rest of her words were lost in the crackling flames. Accidentally felt two snakes weaken. The process of their improvement continued, but they were running out. The moment was too long —

What was strange was that he didn’t feel fear. In any case, the roar of the flames began to sound like laughter.

Yet the call of Nevea made one of its anchors hum. The image of Stat flashed through his head again. In a second, his struggle swelled outward until it took over his mind. By chance I saw that Moira was running her fingers along the strings. The figure looked up and smiled at Randidly. “I no longer have the patience to follow the tortuous Path of Destiny. If we’re on fire, let’s burn it all with us.»

Warning. Changing the anchor is very dangerous. Please look —

The Moirai snapped their fingers and created a flickering tongue of flame. Accidentally watched, spellbound. An evil smile crossed the creature’s face as he lowered his hand, and all the threads began to burn.

Congratulations! Your Loyalty of Rising Moirs (P) has changed! Your stat has changed to Renegade Moira’s Discretion (P)!

Randidly burned out and his stats picture burned out. He smiled at the feeling. Energy swept through him, heading into and through his body. His anchors transformed.

The key has moved. The castle began to turn.

Congratulations! You have thickened the Fourth Attribute! The attribute is set to «Dreams of the Muse» (???). Set to 1/5! Regen set to 1 per (???)!

  • Description

Monstrous fire-breathing fiends that have taken the form of strong dogs, hellhounds are found on the fields of Acheron and on all the Lower Planes. On the Material Plane, hellhounds are most often found in the service of devils, fire giants, and other evil beings who use them as guard animals and companions.

Burning hunger. Hellhounds hunt in packs, eating any creature that appears to be edible. They avoid potentially dangerous foes by attacking the weakest prey with merciless bites and their fiery breath, and display dogged determination in chasing prey to its bitter end.

When hellhounds feed, the flesh they devour is fried in the hellfire within them. When a Hellhound dies, this fire destroys its remains in a cloud of smoke and blazing embers, leaving nothing but wisps of charred black fur.
