How to Replace Cartridge(s)
- Before replacing an ink cartridge, make sure that the machine is powered on.
- Lower the cartridge access door open and wait for the print carriage to finish moving to the center of the machine.
- Press down on the empty ink cartridge gently and then remove it from its slot.
- Take the new ink cartridge out of its box and then pull the tab to remove the plastic protective tape.
- Insert the new ink cartridge into its correct slot in the printer and push until it snaps into place.
- Close the cartridge access door of the machine.
You may also run an alignment test to ensure that the installation has been successful.

How are inks cartridges remanufactured?
When genuine name-brand ink cartridges has been used and emptied, they are normally forwarded to authorized remanufacturing companies so that they may be recycled. MFP installation video 1. Open the package with the black cartridge, take it out and remove the labels. The cartridge has 5 holes.
2. Drill the oval-shaped center hole with the special drill bit provided.
3. Insert the spacer for the cartridge seal into the air inlet, and then insert the special silicone seal there.
4. Plug all other openings with the appropriate plugs.
5. Get a color cartridge. It is usually pink in color, as opposed to black.
6. Next, you need to remove the protective film from the side of the print head.
7. Check the order of the colors in the cartridge by running the print head on a soft white cloth.

The color cartridge also has 5 holes, but the hole pattern is different from that of the black cartridge. Similarly to the black cartridge, drill three holes for color ink, insert silicone seals into them, insert special plugs into the remaining 2 holes.
9. Connect the fittings (tubular corners) to the ink cable and insert them into the color ink cartridge. Be careful not to mix up the colors!
10. Remove the larger plugs from the bottles (for ink), fill the bottles with ink of the desired color from the refill bottles. Insert plugs into place.
11. Remove dampener plugs (with petal) from the cans. Fill in the ink and there, close the holes. Lay the block of containers on the widest part for about a minute.
12. Now you need to open the air holes in the tanks.
13. Insert the color cartridge into the priming station.
14. Syringe through the hole in the station draw ink through the cable.
Do not rush to remove the syringe! Some of the ink may get into the syringe, this is allowed.
15. Use a soft cloth to wipe the cartridge, especially the contacts and print head.
16. Repeat the priming procedure for the black cartridge, do not forget to wipe.
17. Turn on the printer, open the cover on the front of the printer. When the carriage is in the cartridge replacement position in the middle of the MFP, turn off the device (by removing the cord from the case, for example).
18. Insert the cartridges into the carriage, press them until a confirmation click is heard.
19. Glue the fasteners on the color cartridge (it should be on the left) and the inner top surface of the printer (in the middle), pass the cable through these fasteners. The cable should go from the cartridges to the left, then up and to the right, towards the CISS.
20. Move the carriage left and right to make sure the cable does not interfere with carriage movement.
21. Close the outer cartridge compartment cover so that the ribbon cable is above the cover and is not pinched.

Ink storage and transportation in freezing conditions
Ink-mate has researched freezing and thawing of both pigment and water-based inks. This experiment showed that the quality of the ink remains unchanged. If two conditions are met:
— After freezing, the ink should stand in a room with a temperature of 15-20 degrees for 72 hours.
— After that, the ink must be mixed by vigorously shaking the bottle. Then, the ink should settle for another 1 hour, after which it will be ready for use.
