Black ops 2 ende: How to Get the Best Ending in Black Ops 2: 12 Steps

Black Ops II’s End Song Bit Was Downright Embarrassing

So, I recently reviewed Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Yes, I liked it just fine, yes, I had some issues with it, and no, it’s not the worst game ever, as many rabid Battlefield fans will have you believe.

What did qualify as the worst ever, though, is the weird video shown at the end, after the game’s credits have rolled.

(SPOILERS)

Now, the ending I got for Black Ops II saw Raul Menendez sneaking into Frank Wood’s nursing home and stabbing the old man in the throat in order to get back at him for the death of Menendez’s sister Josephina. After that, Raul dug up his sister’s corpse and lit himself on fire next to her body in order to put an end to his lifelong mourning. It was a fairly emotional ending, and one that felt like a great ending to a fairly deep story.

But what followed after that and the credits was this mess: (Warning: Language NSFW)

Now, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be watching this going “Wha…what is this?!” and wondering if you just got majorly trolled.

In all seriousness, though, what bothered me is this: Black Ops II managed to tell a pretty interesting story. It did a great job of fleshing out the villain, making you understand his motives and his psychology, and especially helped you appreciate why he acted the way he did. In the end, Raul Menendez is a cold, ruthless warlord powered by grief and pain and seeking vengeance against those who took his beloved sister from him. It makes him a compelling character that you both hate and sympathize with at the same time.

And Frank Woods, although a completely generic and cliched military FPS character, even has a fairly human side attributed to him throughout the campaign of Black Ops II as well. He was tortured by Menendez and sought to hold the man responsible for the pain he caused him many years back, charging his angst and drive to find the man and kill him himself. It becomes a powerful driving force throughout all of the flashback missions throughout the campaign, and I’ll admit I was fairly interested to see how events would unfold in their inevitable face off.

So, developers go to great lengths to tell this elaborate and well written story, only to suddenly throw it away at this weird integration with Avenged Sevenfold. And I know, I know…I can see the comments already, but I don’t think I’m overreacting to this. Why? Because what they did here was completely invalidate the characters and make them into some weird re-imagining that was neither funny nor creative. And most of all, it was completely unnecessary.

I don’t mind if your game debuts some new song from a band. Really, I don’t. Movies have done this for a long, long time. The difference, though, is that you don’t see compelling characters thrown in with the band like they’re actual musicians minutes after you just witnessed their very dramatic deaths. But that’s exactly what they did here, and the results were super jarring and awkward.

And I’m sure there was some cash grab element to this that led to this weird integration of Raul Menendez as a meek guitar player and Frank Woods as a badass drummer. But still, could we not have just had a music video of the band with scenes of the game edited in instead of a rendered concert scene looking like some off-brand guitar hero background video?

Tell me I’m overreacting all you want, but my opinion still stands. It was unecessary, awkward, and an embarrassing end to an otherwise decent game.

    • Farid executing Harper to maintain his cover as a CIA agent. Made worse by Harper screaming at him to «do your job!» while Farid holds a gun to his head, and then even more so when — even when Section arrives seconds too late and tells Farid that it’s okay, that he did what he had to do — the camera shows Farid broken and in a state of shock at having killed Harper. We can hear him sob faintly when going off to capture Menendez.
      • Farid is screwed either way. He can kill one of his best friends, or he can try to shoot Menendez. In the latter option, Menendez dodges the gun, shoots farid in the stomach, rants for a bit, and then executes him. Poor guy…
      • No matter what choice you make, Farid dies, either by failing to kill Menendez, or from saving Karma/Chloe from either Defalco or Salazar
    • When Woods is ordered to shoot an assassination target, only to find out he was tricked into shooting Alex Mason. Then we see young David Mason’s reaction when he sees his father lying in a pool of his own blood, presumably dead. The music that plays as you run up to Mason’s body perfectly captures Woods’ Oh, Crap! moment as he realizes what he just did.
      • Also David Mason’s reaction to Woods recollecting the memory in 2025. At first he wanted to hear that his father went out like a soldier, not in the hands of a coward like Manuel Noriega. Hearing that Woods is responsible causes him to wander around in disbelief, while Woods is heard sobbing in the background.
      • Also Hudson sacrificing himself to save David and Woods. As Menendez is counting down to when he blows David away, Hudson is madly and tearfully begging Menendez to kill him instead and dies a horrible death as a result.
      • Even if you hated Hudson, he didn’t deserve that. Worse still, we find out had 2 kids back home.

        Hudson: Woods, I can’t. I have two kids, they…
Menendez cocks his shotgun, aiming for young David
Hudson: Fuck. Okay, ME! Do it! DO IT!!

    • Menendez failing to rescue his sister, and then seeing the grenade explode in her room.
      • Everything about Josefina counts, if only to remind you that Raul Menendez loved his sister more than anything in the world. The masks on the wall always stand out, as if he wanted to protect her from her ugliness. And the terrified, desperate wailing she makes when she’s dragged out of bed? Borders on Nightmare Fuel…
    • Woods’ death if Karma is dead and Menendez is spared. Menendez infiltrates the Vault, kills Woods with Josefina’s locket, and lays him down gently on his bed. Very slightly dulled, considering Woods is currently 95, and doesn’t seem too phased by Menendez appearing in his room. The conversation counts as well, Tragic Villain at its finest.

Menendez: She survived the fire…for me. I didn’t leave her. You took her from me.
Woods: What did you learn from that?
      Menendez: What did I learn?
Menendez slits Woods’ throat with Josefina’s pendant, killing him.
      Menendez: Cordis Die.
Menendez then gently lies Woods’ corpse on his bed.

    • Salazar’s betrayal and subsequent death, if Harper is alive. The guy’s been with you in all of the 2025 missions, and is actually a decently coded teammate that helps you push forward on his own if left alone. And he turns out to be in league with Menendez, and through his actions, allows the US Army’s drones loose on China and America, causing countless deaths. But unlike your typical traitor in the genre, Slazar allows himself to be arrested and is willing to receive the punishment for his actions from his friends
    • Mendendez’s suicide in the «worst» ending is a twisted example. After escaping from prison and killing Woods, he goes to his sister’s grave, digs her up, smashes open her coffin and calmly pours gasoline over himself. Then, while looking at her remains… he lights a match. It’s a poignant yet chilling way to depict a character that was so utterly consumed with vengeance that once he achieved it, he had nothing else to live for. So he decides to end his own life, and be with his sister.
      • The excruciating manner of his suicide, coupled with his almost amicable treatment of Woods in the previous scene, gives rise to the Alternate Character Interpretation that he underwent a Heel Realization and chose to go out the way he did because he knew it was what he deserved.
    • In the same token that it’s a heartwarming moment, Mason having to tell his son he’s duty-bound to save Woods is a sad moment as well. Alex really doesn’t want to break the promise he made to his son that he put his military life behind him and David is also disgusted that his father is going back on his word. It’s not a comfortable moment for either party.
    • Admiral Briggs’ death and the subsequent destruction of the Obama. Made worse by the fact that he’s killed by Menendez… except you’re controlling him at that moment, meaning it’s entirely your fault. Salazar even begs you to just wound him instead.

    Black Ops 2 Ending Guide — MWgame.ru

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 just stunned fans of the series. Everyone expected from her already a typical shooter, in the corporate style of CoD, with a not very strong, classic plot. However, fans were in for a pleasant surprise. Not only does the action take place in the future, which is the first time in a series of games from Activision, but the game also has a really exciting storyline, many interesting characters (which is the main antagonist of the game — Raul Menendez, whose motives can even be understood to some extent, he is not a typical monster) and even variability. Yes, throughout the campaign you will come across moments when you have to make some important decision, for example, to kill someone or not. All such decisions will affect the end of the story in one way or another. Again, for the first time, there are several endings in the game, namely 5. We will try to unravel all that tangle of destinies and describe everything in detail to you.

guide how to get the endings, what to do in the passage

    There are shocking ones.

The authors of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War diluted the usual linearity of the series: there are several plot decisions in the game and even secondary tasks. True, this is still not an RPG — there are only two global forks, at the very end of the campaign. They will determine which of the three endings you get.

Some context. In the last hour of the campaign, the real origin of the protagonist is revealed — he (or she) was in the detachment of the super agent Perseus, whom you are chasing the whole game. At the beginning of the game, the hero was betrayed and seriously injured, after which the future «comrades» from US intelligence took him to the laboratory.

There the hero is treated and his personality is rewritten in parallel, forcing him to forget about his involvement with Perseus. Instead, he is implanted with false memories that he went through the Vietnam War with the American Adler — in fact, this is just a copy of Adler’s memories. In this way, the CIA hoped to win the trust of the protagonist and, ultimately, to get information about Perseus from him.

In the finale, Perseus is going to activate the Green Light project — several dozen atomic bombs secretly planted by the USA in major cities of Europe in case of a war with the USSR. The super agent intends to blow up the bombs and make the USA the main enemy of the whole world — he has already received the detonation codes and is about to implement the plan.

After a tough interrogation, the hero remembers his past, but the team persuades him to reveal Perseus’s location anyway and show what the protagonist is «really worth». Your first decision: give out the real data or lie, throwing the team off Perseus’s trail.

    Bad ending

After you lied about Perseus being at the Duga station, the team gets ready to go. You have 30 seconds to get to the radio transmitter and contact Perseus’s allies — the Soviet soldiers — and report on the team’s plans to set up an ambush.

If you don’t do this and just go on a mission, then Adler and the others will realize that you lied. Without any outside support, you will find yourself cornered and shot.

Perseus will have enough time to detonate all the atomic bombs. Europe is in ruins, the Green Light documents are leaked to the public, the whole world is hostile to the United States, and the President and Vice President are fleeing to the shelter. Perseus portends that soon the USSR will swallow the whole world.

    Evil ending

It starts the same way: you lie about Perseus’ location. However, this time the hero gets to the radio transmitter and surrenders his former allies to the Soviet soldiers, after which he goes with the team to the Duga.

Now, when the hero is caught in a lie, he gives a signal and the allies of Perseus attack the American scouts. You have to personally shoot all your «allies». The last to be left is the wounded Adler, who climbed inside the building — you follow him along with Perseus.

Entering the room, lying in his own blood, Adler asks you to let him smoke — if you reach for a pack, he will attack the hero with a knife with his last strength, but he can be overpowered and finished off. Or you can just shoot him right away.

Perseus scoffs that the Americans think he is one person. After that, the super agent gives you a walkie-talkie so that you can personally order the detonation of the bombs, because you «deserved». He says that you still have a lot to do — the same events are shown further as in the bad ending.

    «Good» ending

You honestly say that Perseus went to Solovki — there the final battle will unfold. After this dialogue, a beautiful CGI movie is shown, which has no analogues in other endings — apparently, this option is meant to be «canonical».

During the assault on Solovki, you disable several anti-aircraft guns, after which the Americans destroy the towers by bombardment, depriving Perseus of the ability to detonate bombs — you do not meet him himself.

The main character is pulled out from the rubble, the team is evacuated.
