Glinde, November 14th, 2017 — be quiet!, the market leader in PC power supplies in Germany for eleven consecutive years*, introduces its new premium mid-tower PC chassis, Dark Base 700. Smaller than its full-tower siblings, Dark Base 900 and Dark Base Pro 900, Dark Base 700 aims to satisfy additional target groups, including enthusiasts and high-end system builders, with its use of premium materials and a versatile, modular design.
Unrivaled flexibility and maximum modularity
Dark Base 700’s flexible modular design boasts repositionable HDD slots and an invertible motherboard tray, offering system builders numerous placement options. Unused HDD slot openings are fitted with cable management covers designed to conveniently hide cable routing. These same covers are height-adjustable and can be closed completely to present a system’s clean interior. The back of the motherboard tray offers mounting options for up to three SSDs, while two of the three included HDD cages can be positioned underneath Dark Base 700’s modular PSU shroud. The top of the PSU shroud is divided into four removable segments that improve airflow around the area of the PSU shroud or accommodate a longer front radiator when removed, while allowing tidier cable management when closed. Bottom and PSU shroud each allow installation of an additional fan as well, further improving chassis airflow.
For showcasing, vertically mounted graphics cards can be displayed using an optional mounting slot to highlight a built system’s aesthetics (riser cable not included).
Impeccable cooling and silence
Two pre-installed, virtually inaudible SilentWings® 3 140 mm PWM fans offer unrivaled and uncompromising cooling performance.
Their unique fan blade design, rubberized frame and funnel-shaped air inlets provide optimal air circulation, while the 6-pole fan motor, with fluid dynamic bearings (FDB), reduces power consumption and vibration. Water cooling enthusiasts benefit from Dark Base 700’s extensive radiator support — up to 360 millimeters, with push-and-pull support in the front and an innovative mounting frame topside that slides out to the side for installation.
L-shaped noise-dampening vents located in the front and top of the chassis prevent airflow from moving in a straight, noisier line. Dark Base 700 also uses noise dampening mats made from multiple sound-absorbing materials manufactured to handle a large range of frequencies. Mounting locations for power supply, HDDs and the side window are decoupled to prevent noise-inducing vibration. Up to six PWM fans can be hooked up to the case’s integrated fan controller, operating at three manual and one automatic PWM hub levels. While in full manual mode, the six fans can be divided into two channels, creating separate cooling zones.

Created from premium materials and using be quiet!’s iconic design, Dark Base 700 makes an extremely flexible contender in the mid-tower segment. Constructed of 1.2mm-thick aluminum and steel, Dark Base 700’s sturdy build increases stability and emphasizes elegant design. Premium looks are further displayed by the case’s large tempered glass side window, while embedded RGB LED lights in the front light up in up to six colors and three modes via integrated controller or any color of the full RGB spectrum with compatible motherboard software, helping express every individual user’s style. Dark Base 700’s front I/O is built into a state of the art panel with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 type C port, two USB 3.0 ports, HD audio jacks, and controllers for fan speed and RGB LEDs.

The case features an elegant, fully transparent tempered tinted glass side panel. Attractive RGB LED front panel illumination with six colors to choose from and three modes of operation. Synchronization of the backlight with the RGB controller and control of the glow mode from the motherboard is supported.

Two silent Silent Wings 3 140mm PWM fans equipped with a smooth 6-pole motor, reliable fluid dynamic bearing and blades optimized for better airflow.
The funnel-shaped air intake of the frame creates high air pressure. In performance mode, the fan speed reaches an impressive 1,600 rpm.
TWO LINES OF FANS CONTROL
Creation of separate cooling zones
Three PWM fan headers for each of the two lanes, which can be configured for silent or performance modes independently of each other. This function allows you to create two cooling zones, the fans of which are controlled from the front panel. For all fans to operate at the same speed, it is enough to select the same mode for both lines.
INNOVATIVE COOLING CONCEPT
Optimized for overclocked water-cooled systems
The Dark Base 700’s noise dampening vents create an efficient airflow that can be greatly enhanced by adding up to seven additional fans. There are three places for water cooling radiators up to 360 mm long. The detachable top bracket allows you to mount heatsinks and fans outside of the case before placing them in your PC system.

Removable split plate design of the PSU shroud allows not only to hide the power supply for a neat and attractive look of the system, but also to install fans in the bottom panel or in the front of the shroud, freeing up the space necessary for the CBO heatsink in the front of the case.
