Apex is still going strong after four years.

Apex Legends is now over four years old, and there’s still a lot of clamor for new modes to shake up the battle royale’s well established formula. One of the questions most often asked is whether Respawn’s title has a Solos mode. Here’s all there is to know.

Since Apex launched, the game has been primarily focused around Trios as its default mode.

We have seen Solos and Duos drop in-game as limited-time-modes, with the latter becoming a permanent fixture in the battle royale. However, the same permanence wasn’t handed to the former, despite player clamor for a mode that allows them to play BR independently.

Can you play Solo in Apex Legends?

Back in October 2022, Apex Legends Mobile – which has since been shut down by EA and Respawn – got a Solos mode.

Unfortunately, the update only dropped the mode in the mobile version of the battle royale. In short, if you want to play an official Solos mode in Apex Legends, you need to do so on mobile and ahead of May 1, 2023, when the game will go offline for good.

So, will it come to the console and PC versions of Apex Legends? Unfortunately, it doesn’t look likely.

Way back in January 2021, and not for the first time, Respawn explained that their game was designed around Legend abilities being used in conjunction. In other words, team-play remains integral to Apex.

Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest updates on Esports, Gaming and more.

They again referred players to an April 2020 blog post which read: “When we introduced Solos as a limited-time mode last year we saw it actually negatively impacted the game, especially when it came to new player retention. We’ve also purposely designed Legends and their abilities to compliment team-play and squad composition, but when played Solo some Legend abilities become useless.”

Apex Legends ‘no fill’ option

In the Chaos Theory update, which dropped in March 2022, Respawn finally added a ‘no fill’ option for matchmaking. As it sounds, this option means players can drop in on their own, opting to play without teammates.

However, they can only do so in Duos or Trios matches, meaning they’ll generally be outnumbered and outgunned by enemies. It therefore might not be suitable for lesser-skilled players, who will be wiped out rapidly by enemies with an inherent advantage.

Furthermore, matches can only have six “no fill” players in total. Respawn explained that this was done in order to avoid disrupting the “pacing of the game.”

Will Apex Legends get a solo mode for PC and console?

Right now, we don’t know – but it doesn’t seem likely. Despite its addition in the mobile version of the game, there don’t seem to be any plans to drop Solos permanently in the main version of Apex Legends.

It seems even less likely given the sunsetting of Apex Legends Mobile, meaning there will be no legitimate ways to play solo against other solo players. It could change as Apex ages though, so we won’t say never just yet.

Keep checking back here for all the latest news and updates on the Apex Legends solo mode.

Can you play Apex Legends solo?

As the developers have said many times, Apex Legends is inherently a team-based game. All of its modes, from battle royale to Arenas to the majority of its limited-time modes, are all about achieving victory as a team. In this way, it’s different from many other battle royales that encourage players to win by themselves. But that’s what makes Apex special.

Even so, some players may not have dedicated squads to help them on their way to victory. Others may be tired of random teammates or might just want to see what they can accomplish on their own. There are a myriad of reasons why someone would want to play solo, even if Apex and its developers don’t necessarily encourage it.

So, can you play Apex Legends solo? That depends on what your definition of “solo” is.

Solos mode

Back in season two during the Iron Crown event, players could participate in a limited-time mode called Solos. It was exactly what it sounded like: rather than joining a squad, players dropped into the standard battle royale by themselves in an attempt to take the crown solo. The mode hasn’t reappeared since then in any form, nor have many other solo-focused modes.

In an email Q&A with Respawn in June 2022, design director Evan Nikolich revealed that he doesn’t believe a “solo-only mode has a future in Apex at this time.” He went on to explain that Respawn is much more focused on perfecting the game’s many team-based modes and introducing more fun ways to play with others rather than bringing back the old mode. “We are constantly working towards making it the best team based experience possible,” he shared.

Queueing alone

The future looks bleak for a dedicated solos mode in Apex, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In the meantime, if you’re looking to jump into a match with no teammates, try unticking the “Fill Teammates” button if you’re playing unranked. It won’t always put you by yourself, but you’ll have a higher chance of dropping sans teammates. This puts you at a distinct disadvantage against other squads of two and three members, but it’s technically a way to play the game “solo.” Note that in ranked battle royale and all Arenas modes, you can’t uncheck Fill Teammates.

Even if you’re paired with teammates in battle royale, you can always drop solo and go off on your own. You may want to think twice before you do this, though: thanks to the many structures in Apex that support teams, you’ll likely struggle unless you’re the best of the best at the game. In most cases, it’s better to stick with your teammates and support them, even if you don’t always agree with what they’re doing. After all, jumping into another match is generally pretty quick and easy, and you can always look for a fresh set of teammates if the ones you’re with aren’t working out.

If you decide to take on the game without friends or a premade squad, especially if you want to rise through the echelons of ranked mode, we have a guide dedicated specifically to climbing while solo queueing. If you’re just playing for kicks and giggles, playing by yourself doesn’t change any of the core tenets of Apex: working as a team, aiming well, and having fun.

Daxak and Solo are outsiders, and Spirit is on top again — a preview of the new DPC season for the CIS

The upcoming Dota Pro Circuit season for Eastern Europe promises to be one of the most unpredictable and intense. The reshuffle in the region turned out to be so large-scale that the balance of power changed quite a lot. We found ourselves in a situation where a stack built from scratch in the face of BB Team is positioned by everyone as a future champion, and Virtus.pro, which until recently played at the Major and The International, is considered as a contender for relegation to the second division. What to expect from the new season and who will become its main characters and losers — in the Cybersport.ru preview.

Team Spirit is still the top 1 in the region

Team Spirit made only one substitution: the team left midlaner TORONTOTOKYO, and a young larl from the previous BB Team roster took his place. The TI10 champions, given the in-game controversy (which the team has spoken openly about), needed to be replaced. The club beautifully said goodbye to Hertek and began to build a game with a new member. In the long term, the arrival of a talented 20-year-old larl certainly looks like a gain, but it is still noticeable that Sigitov has not fully adapted to Spirit. Still, the distribution of farming and responsibilities in his new roster is different from what it was in the BB Team. Unlike Daxak with his Visage, Yatoro prefers more standard late heroes and therefore needs more farm and space. In addition, in the opening matches in the new roster at the BB Xmas Show tournament, larl had enough personal mistakes: here he thoughtlessly jumps for a ward on Zeus, there on Tusk he gets lost in a fight.

However, despite these reservations, Team Spirit remains the best team in the region. Still, integrating one player into the overall concept is easier than creating everything from scratch, as the team’s competitors have to do. Spirit, unlike some teams, did not ignore the pre-season competitive practice and performed well at the Xmas Show. Obviously, the same Collapse is already in good shape, and sometimes one of them is enough to win, especially if Magnus picks him again. The chemistry of the backbone of Spirit and his experience, coupled with a pool of proven heroes and strategies, make the team the main contender for victory in the first season. But analysts from BC PARI believe in the Miposhka roster a little less and put it only on the second line.

BB Team — a gathering of stars and you were able to collect all the stars by fitting Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema, Neymar and Mbappe (albeit a local one) in one scheme. On paper, the teams look exactly like this: four young and talented players, who are considered by many to be the best in their roles (at least within the region), and the more experienced and mature TORONTOTOKYO, who moved from second to fifth.

It may seem that in purely mechanical terms and understanding of the game, BB Team simply has no competitors in the CIS right now. However, it seems that it has become a fact for a long time that you can’t go far with just a “bare” skill without intra-team chemistry and a well-built common strategy.

It is worth noting that the «star» lineups in Dota 2 were rarely successful and more often frankly failed: we can recall the Secret roster with KuroKy, zai, Arteezy and s4, assembled before TI5 (at that time it was almost a world team), or refer to the more recent example of Elephant, which brought together the stars of China. In both cases, the problems were not only in the result, but also in the overall design of the game. In addition, the updated roster may have difficulties with the distribution of farm on the map. Each of the three core players used to be in the first roles in their previous team and take most of the gold (in EG, for example, Abed was underfarmed, allowing Nightfall to open up, in VP DM he played the role of a team “troika”, and in Entity, in general, the entire roster often played on Pure). Now some of them will have to reduce their appetites for the sake of the team.

Well, in general, the mental state of the BB Team leaves questions, because almost all roster members had problems with this item, as well as with communication. Yes, and how TORONTOTOKYO will show itself on the “five” is a big question, after all, changing the mid to the fifth position is not the same as moving from the “one” to the “three”. So, for now, one cannot believe in the unconditional dominance of the BB Team, although PARI analysts, on the contrary, put the team in the first place.

Nemiga Gaming — the opening of the first season

Nemiga has every chance to be the main surprise of the first DPC draw. The team showed a decent game at the end of last season, but then the roster lacked confidence and, possibly, luck. Now Nemiga is the only team from the first division that has not changed its roster after TI, which means that it is in a winning position in relation to its competitors. And this can bear fruit at least in the first season, when in most teams the players will only get used to each other and look for effective links. Nemiga already has all this, which the team showed at Xmas Snow.

The team has one of the most interesting and promising combinations of core players in the first two positions, and the experienced so bad is now in good shape and, it seems, is ready to refute his own nickname. Therefore, it is rather strange that PARI analysts ranked Nemiga in last place in the first season of the DPC. Here I will allow myself to completely disagree with them and assume that the team for the first time in the history of the tag will receive a slot in the major.

Nemiga Gaming will be the champion — 19.00

Middle players: VP, Darkside, NAVI

Virtus.pro’s roster, of course, has become less stellar and promising compared to previous years. The young, green roster that StrangeR has assembled is unlikely to be able to claim a quota for the Major at least in the first season. However, it is not worth burying VP, as some fans began to actively do after the announcement. At the Xmas Show, the team, which just a couple of days before the first matches were forced to change carry, showed quite a decent game — even with glimpses of a good one. With the same Nemiga, the team fought with dignity and at least on the second map they could have won if they had gone to Roshan a little earlier. Virtus.pro has a lot of ideas, even if most of them are ineffective so far, but some working links are already appearing. Time can really become an assistant to the team, and by the end of the first season, we may see a much more combative and well-coordinated team. But for now we put VP in an intermediate 4-5 place.

Virtus.pro will become the champion — 11.00

Darkside is more difficult, simply because we haven’t seen the team in action yet. The team refused to participate in Xmas Snow at the last moment, deciding to focus on preparing for the DPC. Therefore, it remains only to evaluate the existing composition on paper. The team gathered from scratch and turned out to be quite motley.

The pair of supports RodjER and SoNNeikO, who came from the BB Team, is most trustworthy. Re1bl is a promising mid laner who performed well in the first half of the season in HR. He may not be the best in his position in the region, but he has room to grow, and the esportsman already has minimal experience. But RAMZES666 and DkFogas raise questions. The first finished the last season rather mediocrely and was far from being in his best shape at TI. And in general, one gets the impression that, despite the still fairly young age, Kushnarev is somewhat behind the modern Dota and stuck in the days of “five majors won”. However, this is all very subjective.

DkFogas, in turn, seems to be the least wealthy offlaner among all in the first division of the CIS. The player has been trying himself on the professional stage for a long time, but over the past two years he has not been able to impress much. However, in general, Darkside looks like a peppy tier-2 team that should not be relegated to the second division, but is unlikely to be able to aim at the major either.

Darkside will become the champion — 7.80

NAVI did not look stronger after the reshuffle. Yes, Malady (a support from the top 5 of the European ladder who has proven himself in HR) joined the team and replaced Solo, with whom the team had conflicts before TI. However, nicky`cool does not look like an equivalent replacement for No[o]ne, at least at first. Yes, it is possible that the young mid player has a huge potential, but it will be difficult to reveal it in the first season — it is worth remembering the same Pure and how he started on the professional tier-1 scene. In addition, NAVI continues to desperately hold on to V-Tune, whose progress, it seems, stopped a year and a half ago.

Yes, NAVI will still have a pretty solid hard lane, but you won’t get very far on it. In addition, the team said goodbye to the two most experienced esportsmen, which means that the young roster participants will have to prove that they are able to take on organizational functions in matches and build a tactical picture of the game. And, again, not the fact that they will be able to do it on the go. Therefore, I would venture to suggest that NAVI will end up at the bottom of the table and will fight for survival, but they will still retain their place in the first division.

Natus Vincere will become champions — 6.80

Swedenstrong from NAVI

Candidates for relegation: One Move and HR

One Move, probably on a par with Virtus.pro, conducted the most unreasonable transfer campaign. Two strong core players Smiling Knight and mellojul left the team, and Ainkrad and Munkushi~ who came in their place do not look like equivalent replacements (at least not yet). At D2CL, the updated roster lost to teams from the second division, and at Xmas Show it did not leave the group at all. Yes, and in terms of the game, One Move still looks weak, and it is not entirely clear how the team will progress. Therefore, it is likely that in the first season of the DPC, the AfterLife roster will be fighting for survival.

One Move will become the champion — 15.00

HR has assembled a bright line-up that will surely have a lot of fans, but there may be problems with the results. It is curious that NAVI did not make it to the final part of The International, largely due to the conflict between Solo and the team. In turn, BB Team failed TI due to the conflict between Daxak and SoNNeikO. Now Daxak and Solo are on the same team, and even under the leadership of nofear. It would seem that what could go wrong?

In fact, it is quite difficult to imagine whose vision of the game will dominate HR and how it will be possible to combine all opinions and personalities within one working team. However, interpersonal problems are usually not revealed immediately — at least not in the «candy-bouquet» period. That’s just while HR has problems in the game plan. At Xmas, the team looked weak, and it’s not the final result, but how the team lost to the same Nemiga in the decisive match: weak drafts and a completely uncoordinated game. Of course, everything can change in two weeks, but so far Daxak and Solo do not inspire confidence at all.

HellRaisers will become champions — 13.00

FFXIV Player Super Hard Challenge solo mode with all base MMO classes

One of the Japanese FFXIV players has accomplished the rather astounding feat of completing one of the hardest solo challenges in the critically acclaimed MMORPG — with an even harder twist at the top. If you’ve played Final Fantasy XIV, you may have come across its Deep Dungeon system. They’re easy to miss, but these giant roguelike dungeons rank among the most exciting and demanding challenge modes a multiplayer game has to offer.

The Deep Dungeon in question, called Heaven on High, consists of 100 floors filled with extremely powerful enemies and bosses. Entering players start at character level 61 (separate from their main game progress) and must work their way up as they progress through floors, but death marks the end of your run, forcing you to drop off the first floor.

Upcoming Games and 2023 Release Dates

This challenge is designed for four players, but some of the most dedicated players have managed to complete it alone, a challenge that often takes six to eight hours per attempt. Successfully soloing through any of the Deep Dungeons dungeons — Heaven on High or its predecessor Palace of the Dead — earns you a rare title that is considered one of the most prestigious titles in the MMO community for the dedication and skill it takes to complete the task. .

However, user Fania Eckert takes it one step further. Not content with simply fighting Heaven in Heaven with no allies, they decided to take on the challenge using each of the game’s nine base classes. Simply put, when you start as a level 1 player in FFXIV, you begin your journey as a «class» such as a Gladiator or a Thaumaturge. At level 30, each class evolves into its respective «position» — Paladin and Black Mage, as in the examples given earlier. To a large extent, it is a relic of the old system that has been abandoned; modern FFXIV quests such as Endwalker’s Sage and Reaper do not have a base class.

However, choosing the base classes over their working forms means that Fania is missing out on several important skills that are specific to the secondary form. In this case, that means they’re essentially limiting themselves even more, on top of the already ridiculous task of overcoming a Deep Dungeons solo. However, they were able to successfully clear the call on all nine of the original FFXIV classes.

Users on FFXIV Reddit reacted to the achievement with great awe. One explains: “Especially in the melee classes, this requires some masterful rotation of the enemies so that they cannot attack automatically or use abilities. Doing this for 10+ minutes is extremely difficult.” Others note that they find it difficult to get close even with the crew, with one comment noting, «I can’t even get the crew to go through the 71st floor. »

Nintendo has confirmed that it will not be attending E3 2023. The company says this year’s event does not fit into its plans.

«We approach every event on an individual basis and always consider different ways to interact with our fans,» Nintendo said in a statement provided to VentureBeat.

“Because this year’s E3 does not fit into our plans, we have decided not to participate. However, we have been and remain strong supporters of ESA and E3.”

Nintendo last attended E3 live in 2019and hosted a virtual program in 2021. Just because a company won’t be attending E3 2023 doesn’t mean it won’t host a Direct instead of a live event this summer. The

E3 will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center June 13-16. The event will be curated by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which will partner with ReedPop, the production company behind PAX, New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration and other high-profile events.

This will be the first full show in four years. It was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and in 2021 it was held online only. In 2022, it was canceled completely.

Over the years, many publishers and developers have started to host shows separate from the show, instead of holding traditional press conferences like they used to.

So unfortunately Nintendo will not be attending E3 2023.

Riot Games says it will officially end support for Valorant on older versions of Microsoft Windows in March, citing «security concerns». A competitive FPS game that uses Riot-developed Vanguard security software is ending support for Valorant on Windows versions 7, 8, and 8.1 as Riot Games looks to step up its fight against cheaters.

In a post on its official Twitter account, Riot Games confirms that Valorant and Vanguard will end support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 as of March 14 for security reasons. Riot explains, «By switching support to a newer version of Windows, we’ll be able to take advantage of the latest security features and fixes, making it harder for cheaters.»

It’s always a little sad to see support for older versions of Windows drop. Since Microsoft previously offered a free upgrade to Windows 10 and this version went live in July 2015, it’s likely that the vast majority of active gamers are already running either this version or Windows 11 (or an alternative operating system like Linux). However, for those stuck on older systems, this is another thing they lose access to.

The Riot Vanguard program has drawn some criticism as one of several anti-cheat measures that use kernel-level access — a particularly high privilege level that gives access to almost everything on the system. Riot claims that this is necessary for modern fraud protection, as there are many scammers who are willing to run cheat programs using the same high level of system access privileges.

Meanwhile, in the 6.03 Valorant patch, stats will be reduced for Killjoy and Wraith, a recent couple of shooter heroes. Riot is also reporting new Valorant agents in 2023 as well as a new Valorant class.

New Sims 4 Growing Together expansion gameplay shows us that growing together doesn’t always mean doing it in harmony. The Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack releases in March and will focus on relationships between family members in the game. As the new trailer reveals, this means more choices about how your Sims interact and how they build (or break) bonds with others.

As many know, the family is not always the picturesque center of love and support that it is made out to be. While many of us are lucky enough to be close enough to our family members, this is unfortunately not true for everyone. Relationships become strained, ideologies clash, people drift apart — the bond between family members can often be one of the most complex and difficult of all, for any number of reasons.

Featured

Upcoming games and game release dates for 2023

The Sims 4 Growing Together is designed to better reflect this reality by allowing you to fine-tune the dynamics of relationships between family members to better represent different family behaviors. As shown in the Growing Together gameplay trailer below, you can choose between several «family dynamics» options to represent the relationship between individual Sims in a family.

In the trailer, we see four possible options. Near and Far seem to be the simplest, representing a family that spends a lot of time together or has drifted apart. Complex can portray a more antagonistic relationship, and Pranksters is a good choice for classic sibling pranks, in which you banter and tease each other in a more loving, playful way.

EA Maxis says this system will go beyond a simple menu choice, and you’ll have to make key decisions that can affect your Sims’ relationships. For example, will they allow their parents to move in with them? If you say no, it will affect their relationship, and if you say yes, then life at home will become much more difficult. You will also have to deal with the potential consequences. What if your Sim’s parents don’t get along with their partner?

«New relationships are getting more dynamic too,» says EA, explaining that these ideas extend to new social chemistry systems when making friends (or enemies).
